2 Days in Ningbo, Zhejiang 宁波 Breathtaking China By Bike 🇨🇳 2hrs From Shanghai

- Ningbo, formerly Mingzhou in the Song Dynasty, is home to the best glutinous rice balls in China. The best place to try these treats is Cylinder Duck Dog, a breakfast restaurant established in 1926. Ningbo's local cuisine is also well known for it's seafood. To experience the fishing culture and small traditional villages in this region of Zhejiang Province, we head to Li Min Village on the edge of Dongqian Lake. I recommend you go cafe hopping in this quaint area. The perfect way to explore the lake and navigate the narrow streets is by renting a bike or scooter.
Around Dongqian Lake you will also find Hanling Old Street Scenic Area and the famous art gallery.
If you're looking for the modern experience of city life, head to the Old Bund area to see the vibrant night life and streets lined with bars. This area reminded me of Shanghai.
If you're only in Ningbo for a few hours, head over to Moon Lake, also referred to as West Lake by locals. Here you can rent a duck pedal boat or relax in the tranquil gardens. From here, it's just a short walk to Ningbo Drum Tower and Gulou Pedestrian Street where you can find traditional street food and architecture.

Born in Ningbo, study in both Hangzhou and Shanghai during high school, and then study and finnaly immgrated to States. It has been almost 15 years I am not stay in Ningbo as a daily life. So big changes every time I went back. I miss my hometown so much and can't wait to come back next month after pandemic.

Lovely video; never heard of Ningbo though. So many places to see and things to do in China! The beers were definitely very expensive however.
It’s not far from Shanghai so a great weekend trip for us. I don’t drink beer so didn’t even have one but when only 6 arrived for the price we paid I was so shocked 😅 They were only 310ml as well, less than a can of Coca Cola!
If comparing the expense with US, it’s not that expensive, also comparing with SHANGHAI, BEIJING, still cheaper

Shanghai people are originated from Ningbo . Date back to 1800s, Shanghai was a fishing village while Ningo was a big city with population over 0.5 million. Shanghai dialect shares similarity with Ningbo locals.
Ningbo is also still one of the world's biggest ports so I can definitely see why it was so populated back then!

Ming, Qing dynasty, Shanghai was economical and culturally important to the country. And Songjiang Fu(city, Shanghai County was governed by song Jiang fu) contributed 10 times Tax as much as Ningbo Fu(City). You should go to learn history, not spit bullshit. Old Shanghai is county, almost half of Ningbo city(Fu) and almost the same amount of Suzhou city(Fu) immigrated to shanhai.

I remember ten years ago leaving Ningbo in a container ship to come to America. The journey was quite rough but I made it to San Francisco and worked ten years in a restaurant to pay off my debts. Now I am an almost legal American with my own pick up truck working on my first country music album

Haha. 12:14 It is unfortunate that the bars at old bund are expensive. Where there are many people who hang out, where the demand is high in the end the marked just want to set the prizes high to take out as much money of its client as possible. This i think is a greedy market philosophy that exist on earth today at the cost of the consumer and tourists...Hanging out in the city would be a lot more fun if the prizes were more honest and constant.

Ningbo is around a 2 hour train ride just south of Shanghai, China. It’s also one of the worlds busiest ports. 🥰
I know a lot of people, me included, are on the lookout for videos about the far flung corners of China. I know it means travelling afar, so it doesn't matter if you two aren't keen.
I would love to go but at the moment I only have the weekends to travel so can’t go anywhere more than a couple of hours from Shanghai. I do have tentative plans to go a bit more remote but it’ll depend on if I can get some leave from work (very unlikely 😂）

People (mostly China haters) say China doesn't have history, that houses in the villages/rural areas are no older than 50 of age (reason: Red Guards during the Cultural Revolution apparently tore down all the old, historical houses). I beg to differ @ 9:20. A reflecting pool in front of the houses and mountains behind them. Very fengshui i might add!

hotel price, how much per day?
This room was 579 RMB for the night. You can definitely find cheaper places but as a foreigner I need to make sure they will register my temporary residence, most cheaper hotels won’t do this so it’s harder for foreigners.
Ningbo is a nice city though with an impossible-to-understand accent.🤣
A local came up to us asking if I was Russian in Ningbo dialect and none of us understood what he said. Then he switched to Shanghainese and my friend could understand 😅😅
