    🙋🏼‍♀️ Hi, I’m Becca! I’m a homeschooling mom of three boys and love sharing my passion for classic children’s books, homeschooling and the Charlotte Mason method of education. I also love farmhouse home decor so you’ll probably see some videos sprinkled here and there of our home and also a sprinkle of favorite things!

    I just want to say thank you for your helpful SCM videos! About a year ago I watched them as I was deciding what direction to take with my incoming first grader. Thanks to your great overviews, I went ahead with SCM and we have been enjoying it. I even ordered the same planner that you showed in another video and it made laying out weekly lessons SO simple. All this to say- thanks so much! I'll be reviewing your videos as we venture into second grade :).

    I really like Charlotte Mason's emphasis on nature study, but I had not thought about how useful it is to study nature in all seasons. That is an excellent point.

    Hi Becca! Thank you so much for all your videos! I’ve been binge watching them for the past week or so - they have been so helpful for me as I’m planning on incorporating Charlotte Mason’s philosophy in our homeschool next year! I was wondering if you could do a video of what the first year was like for you, what you followed from simply Charlotte Mason, what you didn’t, and what you wish you’d do differently? (If so) I truly enjoy all your videos but sometimes feel so overwhelmed because you’re WAY ahead of me! Thank you so so much for sharing your wisdom with the world! Many blessings to you and your family! Love, Vicky

    My husband and I searched around for a good bible for the kids, and this video just stayed in my mind until we finally bought The Action Bible and Devotional. We were originally reading straight out of the NIV Bible, and my 5 year old daughter's eyes would glaze over. She was actually learning the habit of inattention that way, and attention is the habit we have been working on with her lately. Well The Action Bible has completely turned her around for the better, and she spontaneously narrated the story of Jesus calming the seas back to me yesterday. Wow! My whole family loves the illustrations, especially in the book of Revelations. Thank you for this video! I would love to hear more about your experience at the Kindergarten level. I know with Charlotte Mason this is a more quiet time, but I can't help but feel like I'm not doing enough.

    Hi Becca, love your channel! We are transitioning from a more classical method to CM method next year and your videos have been so helpful! I'm really interested in the Using Language Well and Spelling Wisdom combo for my soon to be 4th, 6th, and 8th graders. Do you feel it is thorough? We do annual assessments in math and LA to prove progress to our local county. I am a little nervous to switch, but am really seeking a more gentle pace next year. I have already purchased the History, Geography, Bible and Enrichment Studies from SCM thanks to your videos :) I am looking forward to more peace in our homeschool studies next year with this method. Thanks so much!

    Hello Becca, Thank you for being here. Oh my goodness, what a blessing to have found your channel. I truly love all things CM.. A CM education is my heart's desire for my children. However, I am having a very hard time w/ trying to figure out how to make the CM methods fit w/ our State's homeschooling requirements. Basically we have to submit a Portfolio of our children's school work for each year to our homeschool Evaluator, and the child's work has show that they are progressing from year to year. Very curious what your thoughts are on all of this? If you have any ideas & tips on the subject? And how do you personally make sure your CM homeschool fit w/ your State's requirements? Thank you so very much for your time & help. Kindest & Best, SK. (=

Might do a short video on those two! The boys are outside everyday, but we formally do our nature journaling on Mondays and Wednesday’s.
      As far as habit training, I’ll casually implement a good habit here and there every several weeks and build on those with consistency. Just a gentle, non-stress approach.

    • @OurGraciousDays
      @OurGraciousDays  6 років тому

      So for history you choose a new lesson plan book every year based on where you're at on the history timeline. I'll use myself as an example: For our first year of homeschooling I started with Ancient Egypt, our second year we did Ancient Greece, third year Ancient Rome and so on... So each year, you'll move along the timeline and use a different book. I hope that answered your question!

    Hey there! What are your recommendations for a sort of all in one homeschool curriculum for children between 6-12? Just to elaborate a little, I homeschooled previously for a number of years with a very relaxed approach where we basically spent 75% of our day outside in the garden and the remainder indoors cooking and reading and listening to stories. It worked well when my littles were so little. 🙂 However, due to extenuating circumstances I decided to place my children in school for a school year. When this school year began our situation changed and it made sense not to send them again.
    Since this school year began I’ve sort of struggled to really find my feet. I’m still working a full time position and although I’m able to work solely from home and my hours are thankfully super flexible, I find myself struggling to really feel structured and settled with the children.
    I was wondering if you could recommend a curriculum that is organized and already scheduled, or if there’s an easy way to do that on my own and perhaps some directives on how to choose which curriculum etc.. Ugh I hope I’m making sense! 😬
    Basically, I know what I want my children to learn and I know my style of homeschooling (Charlotte Mason approach). I just don’t know which books for which ages and how to organize it all in a way that feels predictable and structured.
    Thanks for taking the time to sort through this message and share any input! - Angie
