Confirming this still works as of 12/31. I used Lae'zel (blessed by Shadowheart) to creep down the ladder to the first platform closest to all the action and used ranged weapon drop (88% chance). Took maybe 5 tried to get a weapon drop and it was the sword on the first successful drop. Used my rogue with sneak and invisibility to get as close to the sword as possible, dashed the rest, stole it, misty stepped back up onto the bridge and then fled combat. I recommend switching on turn based mode to extend any buffs. Good luck.
It still works 12/21/23, used Lae'zel to creep down the side, and made a ranged attack with a range of 40-80%, depending on where you stand with her. The ranged fighter skill hits and drops the main-handed weapon. Took me 4 tries. I got it. Best of luck.
Keep in mind that once you do steal it and get away, if you didn't kill the Gnolls yet nearby, fighting them will alert the gith since their hostile now.
I tried this yesterday and every attempt was a miss, even with all the potions and blessings. I tried for a good hour and a half, too. Every single time it missed, so maybe I was just insanely unlucky but I think they patched the cheese.
Unfortunately you just got insanely unlucky. The footage from this video was recorded yesterday, so still a thing. That stinks that you didn’t get it after so long. You can try disarming strike because it has a higher chance, but I had a friend try disarming strike for like an hour and never have them drop, then tried command and it worked on the second try lol. Sometimes RNG just isn’t on your side 🙃
I only play this occasionally and I don't have an iron flask, but I've already emptied that chest! Is there any other way to make sure that he equips the sword?
@@blueripper1558 because in act 3 Lazeal supposed to received this from him. and there a few conversation with her about event in act 3 when you only in act 1
@@TheChadarad I dont know if it is just on pc or what but for me, as soon as I get anywhere near the cutscene plays and he flies away with the sword, not even going invisible works, and I can barely seem them once is over, thats how far I am
@@GamingYourOwnWay Its the same for me, been at it for 1 hour, nothing, can't get close to him at all, no matter the angle, nevermind, after a bit over 1 hour I was able to approach it without him leaving.. thanks!
Still works. Took like 20+ tries, but you get the red "Weapon Dropped" overhead.

Did he drop the cross bow for your first few attempts?
Keep in mind that once you do steal it and get away, if you didn't kill the Gnolls yet nearby, fighting them will alert the gith since their hostile now.
I got the sword today using command drop weapon, but it took a lot of tries. So it still works if you have the patience.
Bards have a heat metal attack that has chance to drop with guaranteed damage that is double chance to drop than the Command:Drop ability

There is also an egg pouch you can find at the beginning of act one that if you throw will spawn a spider that will have the same effect

Everytime I try the game separates laezel entirely. Like she's no longer part of my party
Yeah you don’t want to take her with you, if you get too close she leaves for the cutscene

No it’s not. Just did it. Latest patch. I believe the disarming strike method does not work anymore though.

That happened to me once, I would try again, I think it depends on the initiative roll for that battle
