Big changes for a smaller scale TT120 is on its way

- Roco have announced a large expansion to its TT range for 2024. It is a scale I have looked at since Hornby began their TT120 programme. It seems that European manufacturers are also engaging more into this useful scale.

That's great news, I wasn't aware of the Roco purchase of Kühn. I had a TT layout as a child back in Germany and was always baffled why the scale was not popular in the UK. So after Hornby started TT:120 I had high hopes, but this makes it even better. I still have some connections back to Germany and this announcement convinced me to come back to the hobby in TT style. And as you, concentrate more on the European side of things. But it will include a Mallard no matter what, it's just too great.
It is nice to have a common set of standards in a scale - Couplings, digital equipment and track geometry are also considered in TT.
TT is going to get big. I do narrow gauge and N track is good for 3'6" and Z track is 2'6". TT is just big enough to have 8mm coreless motors in Era one. Don't much care for UK or Euro stock, I'm in Oz. But some Era 1,2 came down here
TT is big in Germany and the biggest Manufacturer is Tillig ;-)
Piko and Roco also have a sizable range in TT.
I can be competitive on Roco and Piko, We have long dealt with these companies so understand what to expect from them - at present Tillig is a complete unknown to us and comes with significant (business ending) risk.
Many thanks Chris
My local shop has had TT as long as I've visited them. A bit surprised that it appeared to UK as Brits are allergic to anything that exists on the other side of channel 😆. But I guess it works as long as Brits think that Hornby invented TT 😂
It will take time for TT to take off in the UK - smaller layouts are the main attraction.
To be fair, it was an American, Hal Joyce, who first came up with TT way back in 1946...
