Switched from a 4-stroke 450 to the 2-stroke 250. Love riding again.
So did I. And my wallet for major repairs and catastrophic failures his heavier now too. You might as well throw a 4-stroke in the trash if you grenade the motor. Costs too danged much to rebuild it. (been there done that) And will never again.
2 strokes are the best forever! until now, I really love it! :)

Hmm... remind me about the victorious days of my legendary 2004 Yamaha YZ 250 2 stroke. Fully custom n ride so smooth n fast. The sounds are killing. My Yamaha is badass... Nobody can beat it in the extreme trail.

Most of my friends ride 250F's, when they ride my 06' YZ250 they're scared of it but love it at the same time.
JGR, you guys get it. :--D a cooler vid would be to have Grant or Brayton ripping it up to show the Am riders flocking to 4T bikes thinking they will be faster on it. I'll give y'all a hint, there's a vid I saw of multi time WC Antonio Cairoli, and ya know what he practices on.. HIS 2 STROKES. 4 strokes are making lesser riders out of all of us, momentum, balance, throttle control are a thing of the past. No one has corner speed save the top factory guys anymore, everyone hammers into a turn, locks up the wheel and loses all momentum but there is no penalty cos your on a 450cc Open class bike in a stadium and boom, you just cleared a 50 triple. That aint racing when Pros are reduced to using amateur techniques.

I love me 450 four but I got to tell you, I looked at the YZ 250 two stoke yesterday and it was like half the weight as my 450. That got me really wanting to add a 250 two to the stable.
20 pounds lighter is pretty close to half the weight huh lol

@crunkdragon3 it's just how far the 4 strokes have come I really can't believe it I was a 2 stroke rider in the 90s but when the 4 strokes came alive I switch that was 24 years ago just can't believe company's today take the time out of there day to make 2 strokes

Sweet video, but I kept on wanted to here that 2 stroke 250 pull out of those corners, but the sound always got cropped out to fast!!!!!
Man, this bike is sweet, but why 50 straight seconds of the dude hitting berms? I thought it was on a fixed loop. Should have shown some air also or the rest of the track.

The best 2stroke to improve like this is the suzuki rm250! Carmichael knew it.the yz is a lovely bike though as well.

And after all those thousands spent.... The motor is now up to KTM standard. -_- I'm of hte belief that the 2006 onwards YZ range are, in both of their categories, one of the best motocross bikes ever made. But I simply refuse to pay full price for a nearly 10 year old bike. so when it came time to decide on a brand new cycle, I went orange.

What did jgr for get about the carb could have grabbed some more power there. Sick bike tho nice when you can get people together and build a bike like that
probably just didn't mention it being the huge company they are I would almost guarantee that its jetted properly for everything done to it. or they all deserve to be fired

I know that the big 5 have the power to pop these 2 strokes. Even if the R&D reaches a climax on the 2 Strokes, i think that there should be a 2 stroke class for pros. The poor guys operating the smoke machines at supercross races need a break to let the riders ease their workload

what pipe is this guys? and which would be best for a yz250 2011 preferable mid range
FMF Fatty. It's a low to midrange pipe. GTYR pipe is made by FMF you know. The magazines just did a pipe review and Pro Circuit makes the top horse power. All the power is up top, where 2 strokes make their peak horsepower. But if your trail riding I can attest to the Fatty. my CR250 can chug to almost nothing without stalling. of course flawless jetting helps :-p

Thats a track set up where ur gonna be on the pipe all the time. But all of it works, on tight trails you'll be clutching more. The Fatty adds a little down low but doesn't peak as high as the PC pipe. All depends where u ride I guess. Enjoy.

2 strokes are superior ( AMA handicap rule needs to go away ) The Carbon footprint of all global supercross bikes is tiny.. And I dare to say that it may be ( the 4 strokes ) that have the higher overall carbon footprint when you factor in production, rebuilds, oil cahnges, and less overall volumetric efficiency per unit of power.. Which is why 4 strokes need almost double the displacement for a given amount of power.. The fun factor on a 2 strokes is just the greatest thing.. Not the same experience ( for me ) when on a 4 stroke

they are FX(Factory Effex). I think there are some similar ones on ebay. Haven't seen those excact ones anywhere though.
