The Dropset Trainer 2 is an awesome shoe for wider feet and individuals who love trainers with limited toe spring optimized for lifting.
The Nano X3 is great for anyone wanting a shoe for CrossFit, short runs, and doing a little bit of everything every week.

Bro just dropped the exact analysis that i've been looking for
Let’s goooo!
i own both. Dont get me wrong, the X3 is great, but the dropset 2 is the best shoe since Nano 4 for me.
I just bought the nano x4 after having metcons for the past 3 years and I just can't seem to feel comfortable in this. I have narrow feet and even I feel like my foot is being squeezed. Do you feel like they're roomy enough?
I had been waiting on this. Very solid review, thanks. The Dropset 2s weren't marked down during the Black Friday period in my country, but I snagged a pair of X3s for better than half off. Made the decision easy for me.
Very nice!!
Awesome content. Thank you so much for your hard work! I have made up my mind and I'm getting the Adidas Dropset Trainer 2 (since I rarely do anything outside of lifting). I was about to check out, when I noticed that this model is on sale for $60!! But only for the women's version. Is there any major construction difference between getting the "men's" version, and the "women's" model? Besides sizing, of course.
Thanks again! 🙏🏻
Would be a sizing and fit difference. I'm not sure if Adidas sizes unisex with this model or not, tbh. Unless you have a super wide foot, I think you'd be fine if you went with women's sizing but tread lightly in doing so because that's just my hunch!
Was waiting for this one.

Hey Jake, I was curious how you would compare the dropset 2 to the original dropset trainer. I really love my original dropset and were maybe looking to get the 2. Appreciate your reviews!
Dropset 2 feels much more lifting focused and the heel construction is better, imo! It also has more flexibility through the forefoot
@@thatfitfriendThank you so much!
Welcome! @@shoresy6951
Hello Jake, how are you?
I was looking to buy the dropset 2 shoes because they had a good grip on my foot and also had a wide toe box (I have a fairly wide toe area even though I wear size 8/8.5). However, they are not suitable for running medium to long distances.
Can you recommend some shoes that don't have a narrow toe box and are good for running? Also, they shouldn't be more than 150 USD.
I think the options should be Nike or Adidas since I'm from Argentina, and not many products are available here.
Thanks!
As always, you bring the best shoe analysis content.
Hmmm, the Nike Free Metcon 5 might work, the Nano 2.0 will give you width but will feel dense and uncomfy for longer runs, Nano X3 can be a good hybrid option butttt you may find hem to be too snug through the forefoot.
How’s the arch? I really like the Nano x2 arch and width.
Nano X3 will feel pretty similar, imo
Adidas dropset 2 or Reebok Nano 2.0? I mostly do weight lifting/crossfit, with minimal cardio like a 10 min run or jump rope 1-2 times per week. Which do you recommend? Thanks Jake for the videos, keep it up!
Both are sick. I like the Dropset a little more, though, but that's due to my loving of their more athletic silhouette. Either way you'll be fine!
Thanks bro!
Hi! I do weight training, plyometrics, and on occasion I will do sprints with a sled. What shoe would you recommend?
TriBase Reign 6, Nano X4, or Dropset Trainer 2. All will be stellar for you!
Thank you!
Thanks for the videos man. I just ordered a pair of drop set 2s. Im more of a lifter than corssfiter, but do sprints and what not.
Sick! Let me know how you like them!
Love them both for different reasons, but I cannot run in the Dropset 2's. The Nano X3 is surprisingly good for short runs.
Keep up the great work my friend!
Thanks, dooood!
Looking to replace my Metcon 5’s size 44. What size DS2’s should I get?
Size 44!
OH, yea......two of the best shoes for training..... Nice video Brother
Thank you 🤝
hi. Looking for versatile training,, never owned a training shoe. Can we do lunges with these shoes? Also, I couldn't find any reebok outlets in my city, I didn't want to order them online and return them if they didn't fit..
I have wider feet,, tried dropset 2,, and the uk10 was tight, 11 was a little long. They don't dell half sizes in my country,, so should I get the bigger size in this situation?
Can totally do lunges in them.
IMO, if you're not sliding around or having heel slip in the 11, then you'll probably be fine in them! If you are having slip issues, then you'll want to explore other options. Let me know what's going on in that context!
Which is better for squatting with a more upright torso? And lowbar? I like keeping a more upright torso for cleans and trying to swap to a highbar lilft, but I tend to feel better squatting lowbar with the torso down. Which would help my mobility more on squats?
bump
DS2
Damn, homie, give me some time to reply! Been driving all day and still have 6 hours left 😂
I’d go Dropset 2!
@@thatfitfriend Sorry!! Really hyped with your videos and just got into weightlifting recently and want to buy new shoes ASAP. Much love!
@@pedromfl all good, friend! Always appreciate you checking out the content. Keep me posted on how you like them 🤝
I run for 10/15 mins after workout and have flat feet , which one would you recommend ? Or is there any other recommendation besides these two? Your hard work makes our decision easy ,thank you a lot.
I'd look into options like the Born Primitive Savage 1 (it's a little more biased towards lifting FYI) or Nano 2.0! They should be fine for that running ask especially if you're a forefoot or midfoot striker!
@@thatfitfriend I appreciate your taking care in replying, God bless you
@@thatfitfriendhere’s the problem, I think I’m a heavy runner, after running with inov 8 235 v3 (which i like a lot) leaves my feet soaring, so what would be your recommendation? Rad one, inov8 f 300 or anything else?
@@usamaharun3288 I would go g 300 before RAD as they can run pretty narrow!
@@thatfitfriend thank you for your prompt reply, hopefully this shoe will have mercy on my messed up knee.
Love your review... From classes and hit workouts in slippery floors I prefer the drop set 2 for all the rest nano x3 is the shoe to go. For lesmills classes and hit workouts dropset 2. For all the other athletic activities in a gym nano x3. If adidas make a shoe like nano with the rubber of dropset 2 you have the ultra shoe 👟
Love the breakdown!
Went over the video again today~ maybe it is just me - the "membrane" (include top part of the patellar tendon) wrapping my knees just cannot stand the flat-forefoot/toe-cap style shoes which is considered a good model for weightlifting😅 I still keep the dropset 2 for my chest day (its stability perfect for lifting heavy dumbbells) but use dropset 1 for squatting instead...
Good data point to know, amigo! It's cool how we start to narrow down our shoe roster as we continue on our journies
Wich is better nano x4 or trainer 2?
Dropset
i love my dropset 2
Solid shoes 🤝
I've had both, the biggest take away for me is that Nano is so unstructured in the forefoot (top) compared to the dropset 2; they bagged out really fast. Dropset 2s feel much more stable with load while being a thinner, lighter shoe. The Nano feels like a chunky 'sneaker' vs the DS2 training shoe feel.
If you do more agile work: Nano
If you want an all purpose lifting shoe, DS2
Be careful when it comes to width, the outsole of the DS2 sticks out more on the right side of the shoe making it 'look' wider than it is.
For reference I use Reebok PRIIs, powerlite mids and adidas totals (all in current rotation). I’m slowly finding both pairs of adidas are all I need.
👍👍👍
I felt unstable in the Nano X3 and returned them. I also dont like having the same shoe that everyone else at my CF gym has 😂.
I wanted to make the Dropset 2 work for me, so bad. But somehow they were just too long for the size that i normally use (too much room between front of toes and shoe). I even tried downsizing and then they were too tight on the midfoot.
Which model are you going with now?
@@thatfitfriend Born Primitive Savage 1. I had like 5 shoes here in boxes haha and then returned all the others.
@@e.l.2386 love it! That’s the best way to do it NGL. So much individuality with this stuff
Same to me
