Brother, please do a video next on how Obi-Wan and Anakin's relationship truly faltered or how sadistic Anakin became throughout the Clone Wars to ROTS to Vader.
More like a slave in his mind, he wasn't a slave to the Jedi order or the Sith... but the slave mentality from his childhood remained. From a psychological point of view of course.
Yeah, Obiwan was a good master. But Qui Gon would have been the perfect one for Anakin if he survived the fight with Maul. They could have changed the Jedi Order from the inside together, and put balance to the force, without the Order 66.
Yes, it's not Obi-Wan's fault in any way, but he was just not mature enough at the time (he was only 25 and just knighted), and their personality clash made them better as "brothers", like during the Clone Wars, after Anakin was knighted. Qui-Gon was much older, more mature, and even more importantly, an "outsider" and non-conformist as well, while Obi-Wan tried his best to always hold to the book.
Yeah he would have had the confidence to tailor his teaching plan to Anakin and to allow him to do his own thing, eg if he backs him in Tatooine Pod race he'd teach him through Garbage Pit race
I say the prequels should have begun with a young Anakin already at the Jedi temple. Apart from seeing Darth Maul in action, The Phantom Menace was unnecessary.
@Obi-Wan Kenobi it's good game, just not a good Fallout game. It doesn't deserve to be labeled as an RPG, because it's just a base building looter shooter.
And people say he was whiny "for no reason." Anakin had a pretty rough early on... it took _years_ for him to become the strong and intelligent, Cocky General we saw in the Clone Wars. Then again, people make fun of Anakin until he becomes Vader, THEN all those same Anakin haters have something *Completely Different* to say.
@@orbaitv5991 I mean... being shown to be a Slave in the FIRST Prequel movie should've been a red flag to a traumatic childhood, but ya know, no biggie
He isn't whiney because he complains about legitimate problems in his life. He is whiney because they cast an actor whose voice cracks when shouting and then suddenly we are to accept he becomes the manliest guy in the universe (aka James Earl Jones) when he is put into a metal suit I have never had an issue with the character but the casting was just awful, he never comes across as more than a dramatic teen, despite the fact that on paper the character and his life events are brilliant story wise
@@otakuveritas 1. That was on purpose look behind the scenes they tell him to act whiny and manly people don't act like Vader who was depressed and actually blamed everyone for his failures 2. And I don't see Vader in the movies as anything more than a second in command who beats either old men or children and then loses to children so yeah. Also that was when Anakin had a mental breakdown if anything Luke was more whiny
Once during the clone wars Anakin returned to the temple to meet his former fellow padawans to make peace with them... ..with the 501st legion in his side
I get the feeling that the council never believed in Anakin, possibly felt threatened by the possibility of him being the chosen one that would render all of them obsolete, and took him on as a favor to the fallen Qui Gon but dumped him on Obi Wan in the hopes that he would fail to properly mentor the boy, knowing full well he was not up to the task. I mean sure Obi Wan volunteered for the job, but Mace, who had some experience with the dark side, was clearly the better choice for training a padawan who knew dark side emotions.
I love Obi-wan, but nearly anyone of the Jedi Masters was a better suit. He was a kid himself who had just witnessed his master's death, when the Council dumped a boy under his tutelage. Both Anakin and Obi-wan should've been taught by another Master afterwards, preferably together, so that they could bond over the memory of Qui-gon and the events of Tatooine. Anakin should've skipped the temple and went straight to being a padawan. Despite Mace being extremely powerful, I do think he would fear the boy, just as Yoda did. Though Mace was close to the dark side, he had a double standard regarding its usage amongst his students and the Order, and was in general a hardass; something I think a young Anakin would struggle with. There's a reason ALL of Mace's students went to the dark side. He doesn't know how to help others cope with negative feelings, cause he's so well-reigned and aloof. Just my opinion, but I think Kit Fisto would be perfect. He's no substitute for Qui-gon, but I think his laid back attitude, resourcefulness and love of combat would lead to a good tutor and friend for a young Anakin. I think Obi-wan being wise for his age and detached from negativity wouldn't really struggle being taught by Windu, or any other Master, for that matter. Well, maybe C'baoth.

@@Kaikojo You guys forget. The Jedi Order have no business with who Qui-gon passes Anikan too. It would have been over his dead body if the Jedi order tried to steal Anikan like he is some package. Also same with his Padawan who is doing the last thing his Master wanted and had to be made a knight automatically by the Jedi order or no one can train Anikan. What if Anikan quits if Obi wan or even Qui-qon were stopped. They can't force someone to be a jedi either.
@ yes they can. Literaly every jedi ever was kind of forced to be one. Did you forget they were taken from their parents?

@@Gr3nadgr3gory That is all they knew it would not make sense for those kids to run away from a place with all their friends and parent figures. When they become padawans they probably don't know what else to do and make a living. Jedi can retire and leave the order. Remember it is lightsaber against a lightsaber. No one wants to enter a fight to the death for every Jedi that walks away. Many Jedi left the order even the main characters like Ashoka left and even Obi Wan said he would leave the order to be with his lover Satine if she said the word.
@ im saying that might be a reason why many leave the order too. I wouldnt exactly want to be a part of an organization that basically kidnaps special kids
@Drew The novelization of ROTS and AOTC, sadly no longer canon, both suggest Anakin was abused as a child, not just a slave. He was certainly beaten by Watto, reportedly receiving his worst beating at the age of only 4. Well, enslavement is the worst form of abuse as well of course. There's actually a really interesting post on this. wingletblackbird.tumblr.com/post/167085096868/a-nurturing-environment
Agreed. When I went to art school, at first I barely got along with anyone and I spent most my free time in my own room by my laptop, parelly interracting with other residents of the school apartment
TFW you're freed from slavery just to be made a slave for the jedi. Then some evil guy comes around promising to save your wife and free you from the corruption of the jedi just to make you *his* slave instead. Anakin Skywalker was a free man for all of a couple minutes before dying on the second death star.
Yup, and in the end he was still the chosen one. Went from light to dark till that special moment came for him to fulfill his destiny and save his son. Prophecies can be tricky.
Nice comment. That sums up Anakin Skywalker’s tragic and pain full life. Thank goodness that in the end he repented and became part of the force! Awesome director George Lukes is. He legionary for creating The Star Wars Universe!!!
SnarkyRogue I forgot to check the Grammar and to check for logic clear writing. No, I don’t have a stroke, just that I don’t write that often or constantly.
Anakin is such a tragic character, he's literally Star Wars and the saga revolves around him. I am a sucker for fallen heroes like Macbeth or Hamlet but I don't think they even match Anakin's character depth, he's just so well written, relatable, a heroic badass warrior which only wanted to save the ones he loved. The Jedi are the most responsible for turning him to the dark side, holding him back and forcing him to be a robot with no emotions only bottled up his negative feelings, I wish Qui Gon was alive to be his master he always had more of a Grey Jedi perspective on the force, Anakin would have never turned to the dark side if he was by his side but to be fair Obi was too young for the challenge he was given to teach Anakin. Easily the best character in Star Wars
Qui Gon wasn't grey, he was the most Jedi like Jedi out of all of them. He was the only one who believed in following the will of the force, while all of the others were taking orders from the republic. When the clone wars hit and they became Generals in the Grand Army of the Republic. Peacekeeper my ass.
While the Jedi order's philosophy of disregarding emotion was one of the nails in Anakin's coffin, I think it's also worth mentioning that Palpatine practically groomed Anakin to become his next Apprentice since the moment they met. It was always Palpatine that fed into Anakin's anxieties and twisted his mind to think the Jedi were against him. One scene in particular that shows this is a deleted scene from ROTS. In it, Anakin and Palpatine are having a conversation about Anakin's standing in the Jedi Order and how Palpatine thinks Anakin should already be a master. However, Anakin rebukes this, saying he is far from being a master yet. But Palpatine keeps insisting that he should be. I really wish they would have kept that scene in the theatrical cut, because it really does show another side to Anakin's fall to the dark side.
People who complain about Anakin's immaturity in AOTC only reveal their lack of understanding. I have Asperger's syndrome, and I spent years trying to modify myself to fit an impossible mold. Someone was always offended by my actions, my words, my facial expressions, and they expected me to apologize for everything that made me who I am. Only when people had the mercy to look deeper than my skin did I find true and constructive change was even possible. I didn't have to change who I was, but I could adapt as long as I had loving friends to help me along. It's so easy to mock or even hate someone for their behavior or dialogue, but to do the hard thing and look beyond the words and strip away the outer shell is an admirable thing. That's what Padme did, and not only did she find she understood Anakin, but she found she could love him for it. That's why neither Lucas nor Christensen should have to apologize for Anakin's portrayal. As an atypical individual, I can attest that his depiction was almost perfect. His character wasn't meant to entertain the masses; he was a gift to those of us who are exhausted and depressed, always trying and always failing to conform to society's standards of normal and acceptable. P.S. Guess who stood by me and understood me during those years when everyone else turned away; my mother! Yet one more example of how relatable Anakin truly is.
I'm with you mate. The more I read about Ankin's childhood, the more I relate to and on some level sympathize with him. I honestly believe he had some kind of PTSD from childhood, due to having been a slave, and been physically abused (beaten) by his owner, and just witnessing the violence that was part of life there. He was basically an abuse victim from infancy, and was put into an organization that never wanted him. His isolation led to him being groomed by an evil man who just wanted to turn him into a killing machine. People are always like "why did he listen to Palpatine?" Er, well, because a lonely, vulnerable and isolated child will just naturally gravitate to any adult who gives them positive attention. Or shows an interest in them. Especially if nobody else does. The "wise" Jedi should have seen Anakin needed help and support, not condemnation.
The prequels are very underwritten. Lucas never cared to actually shown how bad Anakin had it. Of course you can understand once you read books and comics but the movies should had been able to stand by themselves. There is no way most people would emphasize with Anakin going from a cartoony little boy genius to a depressed teenager with sociophatic tendencies if you don't show how the fuck it happened
Also, there's some evidence to show he had manic depression and a personality disorder Some article suggested he had histrionic? personality disorder, and he checked all the boxes for the most part based on his portrayal in the prequels and the Clone Wars animated series I like to believe that a more experienced master might have realized that Anakin needed professional help, not more lectures. Kenobi was just too young for the responsibility he was given.
“Feeling bad that his padawan was unable to befriend anyone, Obi-wan later brought this up with the high council” "Anakin always had a feeling that the only reason Obi-wan was spending time with him was because of the promise he made to Qui-gon. This was of course, untrue" "Obi-wan would rather keep to himself, as he was afraid of saying the wrong thing" My heart: 🥺✨💜💫💖🥰💞✨
A slave to Watto, The Order (to an extent, The Republic), and then finally Palpatine (as well as The Empire). Hell, he was a slave to the very power he served: The Dark Side of the Force. I recken the only time he *_wasn't_* a slave to anyone/thing was when he was dying on the second Death Star.
It's interesting how you think Anakin's fall to the Dark Side started way before the Clone Wars began. Imagine all those bad things happening over the years just culminating into that final push over the edge when the one person you could truly love could be lost to you forever
And knowing how clingy that probably made him, Padme likely stayed with him more out of fear than love. Not dumping on Anakin, I just have a hard time believing he could go through all that he did and be a good family man with no mentoring on the subject.
The clone wars had little to do with Anakin's turn. It's a big issue I have with TCW's reception, at least how people who didn't like the film anakin receive him. It's clear from episode 1 Anakin has an inferiority complex probably because he is a slave and therefore has a need to prove himself shown by hi willingness to pod race. This coupled with his apparent skils which far exceeded his peers later made him arrogant but not because he just thought he was better but because of his inferiority complex meaning he HAD to believe he was better. It was important for him to be better because he needed to prove himself that he was more than a slave. As a result he would get frustrated when he perceived he was being held back. Like the master whipping the slave so they don't get too ambitious. Anyway this flaw at his core is the trait that led to Anakin turning to the dark side. He feared losing Padme which got him in the door but once he started down the path he became intoxicated with his own perceived freedom and power and wanted to relish in all the things he believed he had been held back from. When someone who is used to having little suddenly gets a lot it usually overwhelms them and they go overboard. Just give any poor person a sizable amount of money and see how few invest it vs. those who spend lavishly on the things they have always wanted.
anakin's fall started way before even ROTS and clone wars. Some of the Jedi masters and friends he made over the clone wars died and were pushing him further away. Yaddle was one of them
@@rikudoubapeck Exactly, you hit the nail right on the head. None of the other Jedi including Obi Wan would understand, they grew up in a stable setting inside their grand temple. They don’t know what it’s like to be a slave, to be treated horribly by a master. Obi Wan should’ve tried being more flexible, and understanding towards Anakin, he also could’ve shown him some genuine compassion. Obi Wan was too orthodox, too by the book, he should’ve thrown that book away and tried new approaches with Anakin the way that Shifu did with Po in ‘Kung Fu Panda’, so why didn’t he follow Qui Gon’s example instead of adhering to a flawed code?
@@jmwilliamsart I think Obi Wan did the best he could but Qui Gon specifically chose to train Anakin understanding what he needed. Part of Obi and Anakin's natural friction is that they were both under Qui Gon meaning they would have been fellow disciples. So there was always tension and confusion on their role as master and apprentice. Furthermore Anakin wanted and needed a father figure which Obi Wan couldn't and didn't want to fill as briefly alluded to in dialogue from Attack of the clones. It's clear by ROTS they are both more comfortable being brothers but Anakin missed out on a father figure which is where Palpatine was able to swoop in. Regardless Obi Wan is who he is and even with his adherence to the more traditional Jedi training Anakin still turned out well enough that there was a chance he wouldn't have turned. Obi did care about him and I'd actually argue he cared too much and let some things slide when he shouldn't have. It's quite a nuanced situation.
I kind of wished they added this to attack of the clones movie. Like us seeing Anakin grow exploring places and not knowing what his actual purpose is. And it would be great way to why he turned to the dark side.
To be fair a Anikan was doomed to turn to the dark side. He lived a sad life. He was a slave and only person he had was his mom. Anikan already experience what others do not... to love another. He love his mom and padme. Anger at the jedi for holding him back
It’s nice that this explains the slightly depressed/troubled demeanor that Hayden so adequately displayed. These are the storylines that matter and the stories that need to be explored.
The Star Wars canon showed Anakin's entire life, from his childhood on Tatooine, to being a general in the Clone Wars, and finally ending as Darth Vader. And all the while, though he was much more, his strings were always pulled like those of a puppet. Anakin was the Chosen One, but it wasn't his choice.
I knew he was depressed because characters like him have their anger showing a lot when they fight. And consumed by the dark side he was very aggressive.
Palpatine: *_"Did you ever hear the tragedy of Anakin Skywalker the Chosen One."_* Maul: *_"No."_* Palpatine: *_"I thought not. It's not a story the Sith would tell you. It's a jedi legend. Anakin Skywalker was a Jedi Knight and the Chosen One."_* *_"He was the best star fighter pilot in the galaxy and a cunning Warrior. Unfortunately, he followed a Chancellor who was secretly a Sith who deceived Skywalker in destroying the Jedi Order. then he lost his mother, his friends and sadly the most important person in Anakin Skywalker life. The one he forever love and the one he forever lost was his wife Padme Amidala. (smiles) And Anakin never saw it coming. It's ironic that in the end he fell to the dark side."_* Maul: *_"Is it possible to come back to the light side?"_* Palpatine: *_"Not from a Sith."_*

When you post the chinese knock offs script in the comment section.
The council was kind of a bunch of heartless pricks. The only reason why they cared that Anakin didn’t have any friends and was alone was bc they were afraid of him going down the path of the dark side. I mean I know Jedi are supposed to be emotionless and all, but that’s just cold
To the people who say Anakin is whiny just like that; well then, you can shove your hateful words up your arses. I really dislike haters. They hate for no reason. And Hayden Christensen did a fantastic job. It's because of his acting as Anakin that I am a huge fan.
Agree with the first statement, disagree on the second. Hayden was really good at action scenes but seemingly terrible at anything emotional. I don't know if it's because his voice was naturally monotone or if he just doesn't have much experience in that particular aspect of acting, or even if he was specifically told to play the part of Anakin that way. The screenwriting of those particular scenes didn't help either, though. I could think of several different takes on the whole "I pledge myself to your teachings" line that would be far more in-character and make a lot more sense. "Anything... ANYTHING to protect Padame", for example.
Yeah, poor ol Anakin didn't get to grow up playing with Transformers or GI Joes..he truly had a crappy childhood. Hell, his adulthood wasn't that great either..Poor guy. Most folks would have commited suicide all the crud he had to endure.
Keep in mind that he really felt in his heart that the Jedi were evil and plotting to take over. He was blinded by the darkside and Palpatine's manipulation. In my eyes, Anakin wasn't evil, just very lost and his emotions calloused. He couldn't stand losing others he cared about, to the point that he would do literally ANYTHING to save them. The council tried to explain to him that it was a very selfish trait, but he wouldn't listen.
@@gainsandglory6808 for me, the whiny and manipulated anakin, who is tricked into being evil, is such a weak and boring charakter. He should have been portrayed as a strongwilled, noble, wellspoken and talented guy with charisma and authority, who does the right things at first but slowly turns into a carrerist and an intriguer, willing to do anything to reach his goals and using the dark side willingly to get stronger. The anakin from the prequels is just a selfpitying brat, who turns into a massmurderer and is basically tricked into being evil, without even recognizing palpatines' obvious masquarades
@@christophzeit6282 That sounds like a Gary Stu and doesn't sound like Vader at all also Anakin is noble and talended with charisma so I don't why your saying he is not like that. Vader was a brat and his victories were pretty much against old men and children so don't like Vader was some badass. Also obvious? Tell that to 99.99999% of the Galaxy
Man, comparing the life of Anakin to that of Rey really boils the blood. Born of the Force, suffered a literal lifetime of slavery, loss and suffering just to FAIL at having that which he most wanted - the ability to save his loved ones from dying. As Luke persevered through the dark death of Padme, so too did Anakin persevere through the dark life of Vader to destroy the empire through his redemption. Then you have Rey who everyone loves, never lost a fight, never suffered to obtain life saving force powers, and who convinced Palpatine to kill himself with 2 lightsabers. What an abomination.
It wasn't until I got older that I was able to appreciate Anakin and his journey. I've even grown to reconcile his portrayal in the movies and the Clone Wars series as really two sides of the exact same guy. In Clone Wars, he is much more free to be his best self. He gets to be powerful and make a difference and actually MATTER in the galaxy. In the movies, due to their more political tone, Anakin is often in an element that stifles him, undermines him, underestimates and belittles him--after all, a boardrooms and battlefields are two different places. I think his biggest tragic flaw was that he wanted too much power too soon, and the Jedi didn't know how to properly bridle that.
The Old Expanded Universe had a lot of Deep in his stories and characters That's what I miss most Now it seems that Diseny only likes to make simple stories without going into much detail about the main characters They only make forgettable simple stories to make money faster it seems that they are not interested in doing good lore
Hopefully the New EU stories will become deeper and more memorable in a few more years :\ In the mean time, have you read the Darth Vader comics by Charles Soule? They're pretty good.
@@GianniEndo All 4 of them were shit. I wish Lucas had gave Star Wars to Mark Hamill or something because if he owned Star Wars we would not be in a situation where we are saying the greatest franchise that shaped generations of children is shit.
Legends is pretty good, but I get why Disney cut it off from canon. It had too many different writers making too many stories. It was a disaster trying to fit it all in place, so they simplified it. I don't agree with them cutting out things like this, though. It goes a long way in showing *why* Anakin fell to the Dark so easily.
@@TimedRevolver That's bullshit. Too many writers and too many stories ? They have ALMOST the same amount of shitload of SJW writers now. And despite everything, the old EU was mostly coherent and events that transpired thousands or decades before tended to have repercussions in later stories. Disney canon is hollow, small and forgettable.
ShadowKnight506 Gamez That depends if canon is still under disney's control in the next few years, so far it has been good, but they are literally making content only in the imperial era and are barely giving the clone wars era an old republic era any content, the mistake they are making is the fact they are not working on what the true fans enjoy.
I’m still mad that Jacen Solo spent years at the Jedi academy, and was a kickass duelist, just to be beaten by a girl who held a lighter-saber for 48 hours and swung at a boulder....
Jacen Solo was a legends character and he was literally stabbed in the back by his twin sister, while trying to save the life of the woman he loved and their daughter, of course he was a Sith Lord at the time and had done a lot of bad s!@$h.
U know it’s kinda funny but I can relate to Anakin life to me not having much friends and being alone majority of my life and I play video games that seeing having it can make me happy seeing how it can make certain games challenging for me
@@jacobsummers3441 kids who have social anxiety often prefer to be alone and do their own things. I have it and I rather do my own stuff. Yes, I do enjoy doing things with others if I'm often bored with my own and it no longer entertains me, but I also prefer doing my own things often
They had become static. corrupted by bureaucracy, inaction and hubris. the force was working towards their downfall and Palpatine played his part superbly.
@@Noxims47314 Exactly, the Jedi were much like the Republic were not what they once were. Both Maul and Anakin are similar in that they were taken in by someone, one being a Sith and the other a Jedi. They both discovered that what they had been brought into turned out to be not as ideal as they thought it was.
It seems that Anakin's entire life is tragic and same with the actor who played child Anakin in The phantom menace. There actually are some similarities like the fact that he was made fun of school. So sad
Wow this actually makes it seem like Anakin’s love for Padmé was even stronger than anyone first thought as she was the first person to ever love him romantically and further emphasises how he was easily manipulated into becoming a Sith if it meant he had a chance to save her. After leaving Tatooine and his mother he didn’t receive any sort of affection. One of his only friends was Obi-Wan for a time. But then he meets up with his childhood crush after many years and successfully enters a relationship with her. He finally feels true happiness. He’s on his way to becoming one of the most powerful Jedi to ever exist, he’s at the top of his class with above average skills in the Force, and he landed the girl of his dreams. Padmé was the most important part of his life, he’d do anything to make sure they would live happily ever after. Then he gets her pregnant and has a vision of her dying in childbirth. At this point he’s desperate and he knows deep down if he loses her, it would destroy him. His emotional vulnerability was easily exploited by Sidious/Palpatine and ironically led to his destruction as Anakin and the death of his soul mate... by his own hand. Damn....... as if the story of Vader and the fall of Anakin wasn’t tragic already
Blame the council Yoda and Windu were the only capable teachers for Anakin but instead he ends up with Obi, because of the fear of his potential being used by the sith.
Ok so this is just a sidenote, but it made me so happy that you credited the artist for her work and sent people to her website. Its so so rarely done on youtube in my experience so thank you for that!
Well now I understand why he was so emotional during the episode 3 how unfair the council was being they literally did hold him back this entire life...and ofcourse he was awkward with padme at times that was his only interactions with a female besides his mother
My entire life was indeed really tragic. It didn't help that Yoda and Master Windu were cockblocking me from succes every chance I got. Who killed the sith lord Darth Tyranus? Me! Who saved Obi-wan from danger countless times through the years? Me! Who was the jedi everybody took for granted, didn't appreciate, and doubted me, despite the fact I proved them wrong many times, won many battles for the Republic. Me! Who rarely ever lost a battle? Me! Who saved the chancellor from danger a few times? Me! Who stood by with Ahsoka when she was accused of a crime she did not commit and proved her innocent? Me! Who wouldn't allow me to save my mother? The council! Who told me to be emotionless and hide my feelings? The council! Who doubted me and did not trust me? The council! Who was unapreciative of the posterboy of the Republic (me)? The council! Who didn't believe Ahsoka and kicked her out if the order, without any proof? The council! Who welcomed her back in, but did not apologize? The council! Who was at fault for Ahsoka leaving the order! The council! Who did not grant me the rank of master, despite the fact, I saved Obi-wan, the Chancellor, and killed Darth Tyranus, and brought the war much closer to the end in a Republic victory? The council! Who was against me leading the campaign against Grievous on Utapua? The council! Who was at fault for the death of my original master? The council! Who lied to me, asked me to spy on my friend the chancellor (which is treason) and used me for their own benefit? The council! Who feared my powers and abilities? The council! Who didn't even want me trained to be a jedi? You guessed it, the council!
@@lukeskywalkerjediknight2125 It wasn't easy dealing with the council. I only respected Yoda, Plo Koon, somewhat Master Fisto to a degree, and of course Obi-wan. Everybody else was just an asshole, especially Mace Windu. He was the worst of them all!
I'm so glad I was raised as a Sith Lord and was not indoctrinated into the Jedi Order. The Jedi are a bunch of hypocrites who deny the emotions that make them human.
Massive like from my part here. It's just one more like but this video made me feel more connected to Star Wars. I'm also kind of lonely, couldn't really connect with my class mates and I can see myself in Anakins Legends story. Thank you for doing this video.
This and the torture, both physical and mental, he went through as Vader, really makes me feel for Anakin, and it makes his fall all the more depressing.
Gotta love that photo of Ferus Olin at 4:51. He ate everyone up in the looks department imo and deserves to be canon again. He suffered a lonely existence at the Jedi Temple just like Anakin did and shared the burden of being the second most gifted Jedi student at the temple behind Anakin. Unlike the other Padawans, he never made fun of Anakin for being a slave. In fact, he was envious of Anakin for still having his mother when he had no recollection of his own family and lamented that he couldn't comfort him knowing he was a lonely child much like himself. The only reason why some fans hated him is because they think he's too perfect and trusted Anakin's dislike towards him instead of realizing that Anakin is an unreliable narrator. If anyone cares to read up on him, they'd be able to see parallels between his and Anakin's fates, why the Jedi Council favored him over Anakin, why Obi-Wan personally chose to complete his Jedi training, and why Leia eventually developed an attachment to him when he became her Jedi guardian.
Anakin: *gets called a slave by his classmates* *years later* Anakin: *leading a clone army killing lots of jedis on the temple and being a leader on a empire* This is why you should never bully or something else someone cause they miht be the one to kill you or he might be a succesfull man
Ultimately, Anakin was a sad and angry little boy who was lost for so long that when he finally started to find a way to a happy life with Padme, Sidious took advantage of his fear that he might lose it, and twisted Anakin’s fear to create Darth Vader.
That was insightful. The artwork was amazing! The Jedi spoke about balance, and searching their feelings, yet I think they forgot to listen to their own rhetoric
Just found this channel out and I must say it is very well done and accurate. Not like most other channels. Also you're giving us a lot of info unlike channels like SWT that puts on short videos with absolutely nothing in them. Thank you
These videos are really great! This particular story makes sense for Anakin's character and also is very relatable to some people's real life experiences as well. Also giving shout outs to people whose artwork is being used is sweet.
Star Wars fans : I hate Anakin because he's whiny and bratty. Also Star Wars fans : I love Kylo Ren. He's so complex because he's whiny and angsty. When will people realize just how shit Ben Swolo is as a character, it would be too late. At least Anakin acted like this accordingly to his background and age. Kylo is a 30 year old manchild.

The eldest, Jacen, turned to the Dark side until his mid 30s, for other reasons that weren't to blame on his parents.
agreed to be fair to obi wan he was little more than a kid himself it was unfair of qui gon to make him promise to look after anakin. It should have been a older Jedi with more experience but of course none of them would take poor anakin because 1) he was considered too old and 2) they were scared of him

Anakin was only a free man for a sum total of about 5 minutes. Then he died. Before that, he was a slave. At every moment he was surrounded by those he had to call masters ... probably why he latched on to Palpatine and Padme early on...he never had to call them master (before RoTS)
@@randycheow5311 No shit, I just posted another comment on our video. I saw Will The Dude hasn't posted for 4 days, I hope he's still there. I honestly feel bad for being absent. Seriously though, what are the chances. LOL😂
“Half of a fraction of the time”.... isn’t that still a fraction... like half of 1/2 is 1/4... So you could have just said he picked things up in a fraction of the time
Not about the logic. It's about the feeling it conveys. Half a fraction feels a lot smaller than a fraction, even though they could be precisely the same thing.
This truly amplifies Anakin’s frustration and animosity towards The Jedi Order. Imagine being alone for most of your childhood, having everything stripped away. Then suddenly the two people you ever loved, the two people who chose to understand you and love you (Padme and His Mother) are suddenly stripped or threatened to be stripped away from you. And since the Jedi speak so much of the Force’s powers, you believe you could save them. You know you can. You’re powerful, you could do something-but you’re being held back out of fear. And worst of all, no matter what you do for them, they still don’t trust you-your Master won’t even stand up for you. No wonder Anakin kept “whining” about how unfair it all was, because in some ways it was unfair. He felt like a slave again. Like a tool. He wanted control, he wanted to prove them all wrong. That he could be someone. And well, we all know how he did that. 👁👁
You should do a video dedicated to Obi-Wan and Anakin dealing with how their relationship got so bad. That or how ruthless Anakin/Vader became from beginning to the end of his life.
They deserved to die because anakin had problems making friends as a kid? How is this any different from saying people deserve to die in school shootings? Anakin was a special case and the Jedi simply were not sure how to handle it. Ultimately you can blame the console for many things but him getting teased as a kid is not one of them.
Personally, I think that the Jedi Order had to fall in order for a new and improved Jedi Order to arise in it’s place at a later date. This Jedi Order was too stuck in it’s ways to change, Yoda had a lot of opportunities to allow the Order to change, to evolve but he never did it. Therefore it was too little too late.
This is one of the reasons why the jedi deserved to fall. "We have the chosen one. Let's fuck with him as much as possible, and make sure that the main positive role model in his childhood is Palpatine. We are so wise."
really why dont we have a star wars series focusing on anakins teenage years, you got the clone wars (tie in bet ep2-3),rebels (bet ep3-4) and resistance (pre-force awakens) but nothing that bridges ep 1 and 2
It would have been nice to see these scenarios in a film! It would've rounded out Anakin's and Obi-Wan's characters better. Great artwork, by the way. Outstanding!
Qui gon:liked him and believed in him Obi Wan:loved him and believed in him Ahsoka:liked him and believed in him Padmé:loved him and believed in him The Jedi council:didn’t really like him and had very low faith in him And that, my fellow force users, is where I believe it all went wrong...
Poor Anakin. Not being let ahead in classes is the worst thing ever. Throughout all of my early childhood (until 7th grade) I was ahead of my classmates by a lot, in my English classes I was ahead by 4 years. The thing is I grew up in Sweden so there is no such thing as a gifted program meaning that if I was given harder material (wich was very rare) I would be given something on the level of an 8 year old native speaker even though I was pretty much on the exact level of a native speaker that was my age. The byproduct of this is extreme boredom leading to the fact that I kept to myself and eventually became quite depressed. I was never the kind of child that disliked school, I loved learning. When I was five my family spent a year in New Zealand, that year was the greatest year of my life. Sure I came there unable to speak English but that just meant there was so much to learn. How come a happy child who loved school could transform into a depressed one who found school utterly pointless? It’s all because of boredom. And guess what? I still wasn’t allowed to skip a grade.

@@Gr3nadgr3gory That is all they knew it would not make sense for those kids to run away from a place with all their friends and parent figures. No one wants to enter a fight to the death for every Jedi that walks away. Many Jedi left the order even the main characters like Ashoka left and even Obi Wan said he would leave the order to be with his lover Satine if she said the word.

Drewdles the Noodle he was being sarcastic but great observation nonetheless
@Drew The novelization of ROTS and AOTC, sadly no longer canon, both suggest Anakin was abused as a child, not just a slave. He was certainly beaten by Watto, reportedly receiving his worst beating at the age of only 4. Well, enslavement is the worst form of abuse as well of course.

@SnarkyRogue HAHAHAHAA oohhh did you got me laughing good... that was soo beautiful, thank you hahahaha
ZiLLioN Obi wan should’ve never been anakin’s master his own training wasn’t complete
You could almost say Qui-Gons death was the beginning of the end for the Republic.
even when Anakin is long Dead, his Legacy lived on with Ben Solo.
Amen
I completely agree.
Also, there's some evidence to show he had manic depression and a personality disorder
Some article suggested he had histrionic? personality disorder, and he checked all the boxes for the most part based on his portrayal in the prequels and the Clone Wars animated series
I like to believe that a more experienced master might have realized that Anakin needed professional help, not more lectures. Kenobi was just too young for the responsibility he was given.

I’m pretty sure the lesson here is: “Anakin’s spent his entire life as a slave.”
Finally luke freed him
Through victory my chains are broken. The Force shall free me.
Poor Anakin.
The Jedi did it. They turned, unwittingly, turned Anakin against them. They made Vader, not Sidious.
Yeah, Sidious recognized the anger and used it, but it had developed over years of mishandling by the Jedi. They were overall, a pretty aloof group.

Yeah I agree but I wish there was a young padawan anakin from the phantom menace till attack of the clones
hey dad
Agree with the first statement, disagree on the second. Hayden was really good at action scenes but seemingly terrible at anything emotional. I don't know if it's because his voice was naturally monotone or if he just doesn't have much experience in that particular aspect of acting, or even if he was specifically told to play the part of Anakin that way. The screenwriting of those particular scenes didn't help either, though. I could think of several different takes on the whole "I pledge myself to your teachings" line that would be far more in-character and make a lot more sense. "Anything... ANYTHING to protect Padame", for example.
The problem wasn't Hayden's acting, it was Lucas' writing.

@@christophzeit6282 that is exactly how he is portrayed in the clone wars tv show, too bad movie anakin was not so great.
The Old Expanded Universe had a lot of Deep in his stories and characters
That's what I miss most
Now it seems that Diseny only likes to make simple stories without going into much detail about the main characters
They only make forgettable simple stories to make money faster it seems that they are not interested in doing good lore
Hopefully the New EU stories will become deeper and more memorable in a few more years :\
In the mean time, have you read the Darth Vader comics by Charles Soule? They're pretty good.

Disney pfff
Anikan had crippling depression!😢
I’m still mad that Jacen Solo spent years at the Jedi academy, and was a kickass duelist, just to be beaten by a girl who held a lighter-saber for 48 hours and swung at a boulder....
FromHyrule Lol You mean Kylo Ren?
Jacen Solo was a legends character and he was literally stabbed in the back by his twin sister, while trying to save the life of the woman he loved and their daughter, of course he was a Sith Lord at the time and had done a lot of bad s!@$h.

U know it’s kinda funny but I can relate to Anakin life to me not having much friends and being alone majority of my life and I play video games that seeing having it can make me happy seeing how it can make certain games challenging for me

Patricia Watworth's young Anakin is phenomenal! Not only is it well rendered...it really brings out the crushing loneliness in him.
In the end, the jedi were the architects of their own destruction.
They had become static. corrupted by bureaucracy, inaction and hubris. the force was working towards their downfall and Palpatine played his part superbly.
@@Noxims47314 I agree
@@Noxims47314 Exactly, the Jedi were much like the Republic were not what they once were. Both Maul and Anakin are similar in that they were taken in by someone, one being a Sith and the other a Jedi. They both discovered that what they had been brought into turned out to be not as ideal as they thought it was.
This is why Anakin and Vader are my most favorite characters in Star Wars
It seems that Anakin's entire life is tragic and same with the actor who played child Anakin in The phantom menace. There actually are some similarities like the fact that he was made fun of school. So sad

Cool stuff, makes it easier to see where Anakin's underlying rage towards, and hatred for, the Jedi came from.

The more I hear about how the Jedi treated Anakin, the more I believe they all deserved to die for their arrogance.
They deserved to die because anakin had problems making friends as a kid? How is this any different from saying people deserve to die in school shootings?
Anakin was a special case and the Jedi simply were not sure how to handle it. Ultimately you can blame the console for many things but him getting teased as a kid is not one of them.
I wouldn't say they deserved it, but they had it coming

I feel you man, that SUCKS
