She'd always wondered what led her father to the Dark Side to become Darth Vader. She'd imagined it came from ambition, greed, or some other venal weakness. Never had she considered that the turn might have begin in a better place, out of the desire to save someone or to avenge a great wrong. Even if it led to evil, that first impulse might be born of loyalty, a sense of Justice, or even Love.

You are soooo right!!! If you look at Anakin’s path, it was always him wanting love and an extremely deep fear of abandonment!!!! Especially that fear of abandonment!!!!!!!!! That turned Anakin more than anything!! He lost a lot of people and feared losing others! Palpatine knew this and was able to use it against him to help finish his voyage fully into the dark side! The sad part is that same fear of abandonment and needing to latch on to someone else kept him ( in a very twisted way) attached to Palpatine (Sidious). No matter how much he tortured Vader and electrocuted him with force lightening, he knew Vader wasn’t going anywhere!!! Ironically, that same attachment and ultimately fear of abandonment brought him back to the light side!! Vader found out about his son Luke and actively sought him out. At that point, Vader just want someone powerful in the force to help him overthrow Sidious!! Who better to do this than someone else in the powerful Skywalker bloodline( his son Luke) Vader knew he would need all the help he can get because Sidious far outmatched him! The life support suit that encapsulated Vader greatly diminished what power that he could have tapped into. The injuries that he had sustained once on Mustafar far reduced his power as well!!!
It wasn’t his power in the force that helped him overthrow Sidious. (quite literally , in fact)
It was hearing Luke’s pleas as he was being electrocuted by Sidious. Those pleas reached clean into Vader’s mind and soul triggering that sense of attachment ( whether he liked it or not, in some way he latched on to Luke in a short time). That fear of abandonment kicked in once again ( Look here, everyone else done left me!!! I’ll be damned if this man causes you to leave me too!!! He’s got to go!!!!) Vader made the decision to kill Sidious by throwing him into the cavern on the second Death Star! That was despite the cost to his own life!!
You could actually see the decision and the inner conflict taking place in Vader!!! He could finally take it not one second more, he picked Sidious up and threw him into the cavern saving Luke!! This decision not only had that effect, but also brought him redemption!!! His fear of abandonment in a sense, brought him back to the light side of the force!!!
The road to hell is paved with good intentions, so they say.

So this is how Leia forgive her father? Its honestly the best way
It was only the Journal of Shmi Skywalker that forced Leia to finally accept that Anakin was good all along and that her accusations perceiving him as nothing but a monster was unjust and that his entire life was nothing but slavery. This finally made her forgive him as a bigger victim than her that he was betrayed and used by everyone in the galaxy.

I used to think Darth Vader was so badass and cool, but the older I get, he just makes me sad.
I feel that
Anakin/Vader has always been a tragic character, I used to think the same way that vader was awesome before reading into legends

We also know that, in Legends, Anakin actively sought Leia’s forgiveness as a Force Ghost, but she was still so angry, she told him she never wanted to see him again. I wonder if Ani saw Leia’s revelation, and learned of her forgiveness

When losing your mother is seen as reason enough to turn you in to a monster, but you actually also lost the guy who rescued you from slavery, his family rejects you soon after his death so you’re essentially alone in the universe, the only father figure you ever had lies and manipulates you constantly, and your brother, the one guy who accepted you, eventually hacks you to pieces and leaves you for death on a flaming lava shore... and then your wife dies. It brought peace and security for the outer rim, it wasnt corrupt like the senate and it wasnt biased against any planet that wasnt the core.

It's no coincidence that this happened before Leia began her Jedi training. If she had begun training to be a Jedi while still holding all this hate and resentment towards her father, she may very well have fallen down the same dark path as he did. But by coming to understand him and his actions, and what drove him to become a Dark Lord of the Sith, she learned about how even actions taken in the name of love and justice can lead to the dark side.

"Tatooine Ghost" (from which this video's information is from) was a REALLY good book (the best from the Pre-Thrawn Era alongside "The Courtship of Princess Leia"). It was touching, suppossed the first connection between the original and prequel movies and served as great character development for Leia, as she forgave her father and named her third child Anakin.
If my best friend grew up to rule the Galaxy I'd just be like "wow dude... could you make me a Moff for old time's sake?"

people change many times throughout their lives, sometimes, maybe even often for all I know of, they change into entirely different people (personality-wise), as is seen with Anakin and Vader, and why they are separated identity wise. Anakin might've put in a reccomendation for you, Vader would not.
It’s beautiful how the prequels and original trilogy continue to receive such immense love in the comics, and how Anakin will always be the true hero after all.
Seeing Anakin as just a boy and as a slave must have been such a trip for Solo too, cause on one hand it humanizes him on a level and also shows how far he came in his life for better or worse. Like damn my step dads kind of badass

I like this version of Leia understanding Anakin and Vader than the canon version. I really like how because of Anakin others became motivated to get their own freedoms and defended Anakin’s name despite him actually being Vader. It’s sorta like how Padme saw the good and Obi Wan saw the evil. But it’s Leia who saw the evil and everyone else saw the good. Eventually Obi Wan and Leia saw the good! Which is nice!

I thought from the title, I thought it was Jedi friends during his training (yes I know he doesn't have any kid friends during his training, more like classmates) which I was gonna typed, did he had any surviving Jedi friends???
His only jedi friend was obi wan, he didn't get along with the other students because he came from a background of suffering and slavery

The only other friend that he was very close to came way after his training. The Jedi order later on gave Anakin the padwan Ashoka Tano as his trainee. He and Ashoka grew very close. He came to regard her as a younger sister in many respects. That fact alone affected him deeply and emotionally when she left the Jedi Order after she was framed and accused in an incident that had taken place. They Jedi initially threw her out of the order. After her name was cleared the Jedi welcomed her back, but she decided not to rejoin. She was hurt and disgusted by the way they had treated her, not believing her. She decided to leave despite Anakin’s pleas for her not to leave. Unbeknownst to Ashoka, Anakin took it as yet another person who had abandoned him.Years later, while Ashoka was in meditation, she “spoke” to Anakin by way of vision in the force. He was Vader at the time. During part of the vision, she clearly heard Anakin’s voice instead of Darth Vader’s speaking to her. He was partially blaming her for who he had become! He had asked her “Why did you leave me?!! I begged you not to!!!”
At one point, she told him that she had to.
Vader knew that she had survived order 66. He never really bothered to pursue her even though he sensed that she was still alive. Ashoka and him did cross paths at one point, but she mainly tried to avoid him.
There was a,sharad hett .Once obi wan dissapearded during action as everyone belived he was dead.
A sharad became his master for a while.
Than obi returned etc etc. hett survived order 66

@@funywunky He stayed away from Tatooine for a REASON. He actively avoided or destroyed anything that reminded him of his past. For example, Owen and Beru Lars. Somebody like Kitster, if they didn't stay out of his way, would very likely end up dead. Though, if they stayed out of his way or proved themselves useful to him, and never figured out the truth of who Darth Vader was, he might tolerate their existence. The second they aren't useful, stray across his path, or figure out who he is - they dead.

@@toledochristianmatthew9919 IIRC Tarkin is who wanted Alderaan destroyed and he outranked Vader and I don't think Vader or Palpatine wanted Alderaan destroyed.
@@TheFacelessStoryMaker While Vader seemed to have reservations about using the Death Star to destroy planets, his commitment to the Empire and dark side prevented him from doing anything to stop Tarkin and he actively helped to defend the station. It wasn't until he figured out Luke was his son that he began his path back to the light side.

That's pretty wizard of Kitster to be so understanding.
The truth is that this is a sad story, perhaps the saddest in all sci-fi. A little boy who became a troubled youth, who was twisted and all but destroyed to become an evil husk supported by machinery. None of it was his fault. Anakin, I wish you could have lived.

Anakin was taken from his mother to be basically neglected by the Jedi. Obiwan wasn't a father figure but a older brother. Anakin probably would have been happier if he left the order and focused on buying out his mother to bring her to somewhere safe. Maybe Obiwan could have put in a good word for Anakin at the Coursant university which could have led to the empire hiring Anakin as one of many super weapon engineers. .

He first returned to Tatooine to find his mother, only to find her dead, and then he must rescue Obi-Wan in Geonosis. He rarely made a visit to Tatooine afterwards.

Nothing could ever excuse Anakin allowing himself to fall to Vader, along with the atrocities that resulted. But because of his reasons for doing so, he can be forgiven.

Seemed like leia spent 10 years or more trying to figure out things about her father..
In Legends the was a " B- plot " story line that ran through five novels, where a few old imperial intelligence agent companies that worked directly under Vader were helping to protect the Solos & Luke since they first came out being Vader's children. In Legends to protect Leia's political career and just to deal with any zhit storm sooner than later, Leia & Luke came out that they were Vader's children within two years after the Battle of Endor.
Senior imperial officer, " Since we already had your imperial senate genetic scan Your Highness, we just compare it to Lord Vader's medical records we had on base. It was an honor & privilege to serve your Father and to protect your public image we stuck to the shadows. It will be our honor to protect you and your children."
