I mean to be fair he was still considered a top military general and on his personal ship and fleet he required all his men squared away and the best of best
this is the 501st, mostly the same clones he fought alongside as anakin. this is also a much less progressed vader, at the start of his life. he as he is now is more general than solo weapon of mass destruction
Vader often respected and tried to take care of his troops especially the 501st clones, he absolutely despised most of the officers though and more or less used them as punching bags when he was angry (with the force of course)
There is a better one. In a comic book, Darth Vader and Tarkin were fighting against each other on a deserted planet. ua-cam.com/video/OsuHpgc_SBg/v-deo.html
Ironically it was Palpatine's decision to make Vader's suit as painful as possible that led to Vader clinging to memories of life as Anakin. If not for that constant reminder, he likely would've accepted his new identity fully.

In Lost Command Vader actually deserved every bad shit that happened to him because... SPOILER he himself suggested to his master to secretly kill Tarkin's son instead of rescuing him, so older Tarkin became more ruthless and evil in his grief, which culminated with him blowing up Alderaan many years later.
@@shuckyducky3471 Not only holding a general disdain for older Tarkin, but to get even for Ahsoka with the blood of someone who had literally nothing with it? Shows how far Vader had fallen indeed, a fact for which he is glad in his belief that Ahsoka is dead. Not just because in his twisted from dark side mind he blames her for abandoning him. But also because she did not live long enough to see him become a monster, unlike Padme and Obi-Wan. Comes Rebels and that moment of relief is shattered too with his resolve to make sure personally she is dead and stays that way for good, because dead people don't cry.
With all the stories of Vader, one would almost see the dark side as THE strongest power. Jedi's don't live through a quarter of what he's been through
Disney really gave Vader some heavy plot armor. He's not supposed to be able to breathe without his helmet or a dedicated breathing apparatus or a hyperbaric chamber. Yet in several of these panels he's fighting, screaming, and using the force without aid.
Honestly that’s always felt a little iffy and had some breathing room for creativity. Even in return of the Jedi when his helmet was removed, it was moreso implied the lightning destroying his aparatus killed him rather than simple lack of breathing. Vader was able to breathe and speak with his helmet off to Luke, but was dying and had to use basically all he had just to breathe a little to speak. I think it’s fine to assume Vader can go a bit without his helmet, but does need to expend a lot of effort and at least have his breathing apparatus functioning to do it.
Darth Maul was cut in half, fell down a hole, dumped on a junk planet and he survived, all without any medical treatment, pre-Disney. Being too angry to die is a valid strategy for the Sith.
It's because he's the original example of that archetype within the franchise, being in the first movie and all; also having a lot to do with Peter Cushing's own iconic status from numerous other roles.
@@novustalks7525 A lot of characters in Star Wars end up being way more famous and popular than they would be if they were from anything else by automatic virtue of being part of such an iconic universe, and the fact that the franchise goes out of its way to establish a name and backstory for literally *every* character very much encourages that.
Anakin was always a very good leader and I always cared about his troops Vader is also in the same respect he hand pick them so as Vader in my eyes they're a part of him
Disney could've made an entire Clone Wars esque show after Anakin's fall dedicated to covering these specific stories and building up major characters like Vader, Tarkin and Thrawn as well as other minor characters in the process (similar to Rebels but in a much grander context). Instead they made a stupid nonsensical lorebreaking show, put a bunch of women in it and made them all lame and gay.

Vader saving his troops from a grenade is so underrated. It shows a level of respect he has for them that was not displayed in the Original trilogy.
At this point Vader still has a little Anakin left and is not as evil as he becomes later and he stills values the lives of his men
He respected the troopers more than the officers

Rest in peace, James Earl Jones 😞
Didn't realize he passed away today. Wow feels like a punch to the gut. He was a truly remarkable man and a cinema legend. RIP James
We need a book about Thrawn on a mission with Tarkin

Sidious when the call to Vader was cut: "My boy was spitting straight bars, for real for real."
I know this probably isn't how Vader sounded in the thumbnail, but I imagine he said "My wife!" exactly like Borat.
This one of the top Vader stories.

I chalk the Tarkin scenario as them being even because of how harsh Tarkin was towards Ahsoka when she was falsely accused of murder

so many great vader fights.. they could had easily make a Darth Vader show with them
