im so glad you guys made this into a full video instead of just the shorts, this was an adventure to watch every short and now the full edited video. this was awesome
Dude, MASSIVE props to the Robby Layton crew for the free paint job. Anyone who's ever attempted restoring even a relatively rust free body knows how many hours of sanding alone it takes to get things paint ready. That amount of work in such a short time frame....man, I don't have a clue how much that would actually cost. Maybe $10K+ or so? I'm currently watching the video right on his channel, so I guess I might find out soon!
You're putting it a lot better than I could have. I was done with this video after I heard the words, "it's free." One of the hands down most labor intensive parts of this project with ZERO inclination as to what it would cost, even to a fellow UA-camr kinda makes the whole "budget" a wash and a cheat. And I'm reading through the comments that he won?? That's like cheating the numbers and winning a Lemons Race. NOT IMPRESSED.
@@IndieBuildie At the same time though, almost everyone who restores their car tends use the avenues they have available to them to make things cheaper. At some point we've all accepted free help and been the beneficiary of someone's generosity. When it comes to Lemons racing, anyone who competes in them would have to use a ton of freebies in order to stay "within the rules," and I'm sure half of the other people in that competition had well over $30k worth of parts and labor into their cars. That being said, getting a paint job as nice as the one he got for free is a level of generosity that most people will never experience, so I do see where you're coming from with your disdain. However, just like the Lemons cars, I think that the majority of people feel that the importance lies more in the "spirit of the competition" than it does in saving every receipt so that you can prove you've spent exactly $29,998.67 on your build. A lot of people probably feel the same way you do about this kind of thing too though so who knows which way is the right way to look at it.
@awaffa2003 @Shortstuffjo Don't forget he had a rust-free body in tow to swap out before the paint job. To properly paint the original body would take weeks to complete & could've cost $20k easy.
So glad this was made into a full video. The shorts were cool but seeing it all come together is just wonderful. What a beautiful car! That Porsche did deserve 1st as well, such a gem.
The amount of effort that went into this with all the parts and collabs is insane. I understand why you guys can't do this type of content all the time, but i really hope we can get more of it in the future!
I LOVE that so many UA-camrs came together to make this work. I subscribe to all these guys so to see them all in one video is insane! The ultimate video.
Absolutely a great video. You’ve been killing it lately with the content, Donut! 👏🏼 And Robby what a hero, looks like a teenager, has the work ethos of a 50 year old vet in the industry. Brilliant stuff.
One of my favorite UA-cam videos period. It's inspiring to see this journey from start to finish. From buying his dream car to taking it on an incredible cross country road trip while it was in rough shape back to California. Henry set a goal to compete in the 30 under 30 and had the support from so many awesome people. He met many new faces that cheered him on throughout his journey, had many set backs and never gave up, eventually receiving a first place trophy in his dream car, around his family with the biggest smile on his face. Truly beautiful to see

So, I found out about your adventure through Matt's Off Road Recovery. I decided to watch Robby Layton's videos and this video of yours. I think it goes without saying, that your car couldn't be called "better" than any of the cars in the show. However, no matter how cool they were, not one of them could touch this thing for it's uniqueness and the unbelievable transformation within the time and the money parameters. My opinion is you definitely deserved a win. And it was fun watching you "drive" this car through it's changes. 😍
One of the best and greatest Collab event ever in the history of UA-cam, the dedication, effort attention to detail and most importantly teamwork went to this build is amazing, thanks for sharing this amazing journey with the US
The ending legitimately brought a tear to my eye. Happy for Henry and everyone who contributed to this project. The end result is truly one of a kind and something to be proud of. There has been an X-90 sitting in a neighbor’s driveway for years now. Makes me wonder if I should go and ask about it

And I'm reading through the comments that he won?? That's like cheating the numbers and winning a Lemons Race. NOT IMPRESSED.
@@IndieBuildieyou do know part of the lemons race culture is to bribe and cheat right?
@awaffa2003 @Shortstuffjo
Don't forget he had a rust-free body in tow to swap out before the paint job. To properly paint the original body would take weeks to complete & could've cost $20k easy.
@@LeonaLinscott-cy6dz Yeah it's hard to argue that he didn't get the UA-cam discount for sure.
So glad this was made into a full video. The shorts were cool but seeing it all come together is just wonderful. What a beautiful car!
That Porsche did deserve 1st as well, such a gem.
Love this video. You should do more videos like this one 🙏🏼
I really felt the feeling with all the work and friends made on the way.
The amount of effort that went into this with all the parts and collabs is insane. I understand why you guys can't do this type of content all the time, but i really hope we can get more of it in the future!
Congrats Henry! The Duki Donco deserves every bit of praise it gets. That paint job is sick! Looking forward to seeing this bad boy in person!
I LOVE that so many UA-camrs came together to make this work. I subscribe to all these guys so to see them all in one video is insane! The ultimate video.
Oh man, you made me cry with your whole odyssey. By kilometers your car was the best of all in this competition. Congratulations on your success.
That X90 is just the epitome of awesomeness!!! You and everyone involved should be very proud, you built an amazing vehicle!
Thank you Donut, for keeping the "work on your own car" lifestyle alive. We need you.
Dude this was one of the best Donut videos I’ve ever seen. Such a good story and well told.
Hey Henry, was this your first time as the main presenter in a Donut video? Great job! Keep up the good work!
Robby is one a hell of a guy, he got mad skills that work he did looks really expensive, much Respect
I'm not tearing up, YOU'RE tearing up!
Awesome job guys! Thank you for giving it the full video treatment.
Absolutely a great video.
You’ve been killing it lately with the content, Donut! 👏🏼
And Robby what a hero, looks like a teenager, has the work ethos of a 50 year old vet in the industry.
Brilliant stuff.
True
This felt like a holiday crossover special of your favourite cartoons except it's Automotive UA-cam creators!
Truly beautiful to see
One of the greatest, what a journey making all the gear heads happy. Thank you.
Easily one of the best video Donut has put out.. the sheer amount of work and dedication put into this is surreal.. Congrats guys and thanks for inspiring many of us amateur enthusiasts, gear heads and veteran watchers!
So true. Everything!
I never expected that a Donut video could be so emotional. Thanks for this ride guys! And special thanks for introducing us to the natural beauties of Utah. I will add this to my bucket list because of you. Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
This is the first time that I cried watching a Donut Media's video, I love that your family is there to support you living your dream
I've laughed to tears watching Donut videos before... but I think this is the first one that made me feel... feelings.
So cool to see Jay staying on the scene and working with other creators. He’s the king
He's truly a car guy to the core. I've yet to hear anyone say he's a bad guy to hangout with. This trip was showing of that.
I genuinely cried at the end. This is the content that has the perfect mix of soul and brevity. The combination of a long way down, ratatouille and saving private Ryan was hilarious yet poetic. Lol
Jay is such a cool guy, supporting the smaller builders.
I’m not even gonna lie this was definitely one of the best donut videos I’ve seen. Great script great story great personalities I even teared up in the end great job guys 👏
amount of work, blood, sweat, tears this probably took is crazy underrated. thanks for the all in one part and so glad you guys survived the heat. that’s a keeper for sure
When people works together, amazing things happens. Refreshing to see youtubers from different parts of the country putting their effort on a wacko project. Kudos from Houston!
This is what car culture is all about. Jay's a badass. Everyone who helped is badass. You're a badass. The whole story is badass. Love it!
Amazing project! And the the end had me crying, too. Wtf? Just golden! The series deserves an award itself. A webby or something.
What a feel good piece of content. So glad to be able to follow along for the adventure! Congratulations on a win and being able to keep the car too!
This is what donut needs to get back to. Not stupid wish/temu/Amazon comparisons. Build cars again. Keep this in line with us, the cheap folk, who have dreams and need guidance or the drive to get out and get it done.
THIS
I like the Temu comparison alongside this content, just my 2¢
same.. nothing wrong with those videos.
It's the cringy shit, that bugs me
@@nv631
I agree! But I also do like the temu comparisons.
they still build cars and stuff, but it's expensive so they have to make lower effort content to make up the cost
This is the best thing about UA-cam, UA-camrs collaborating with other UA-camrs! Love the build. Great job everyone.
One of the best and greatest Collab event ever in the history of UA-cam, the dedication, effort attention to detail and most importantly teamwork went to this build is amazing, thanks for sharing this amazing journey with the US
Deep down, Jay just didn't want that piece of junk in his garage so he let you win
That thing is dope af.
@@m1germsy784let me slide an eXXXtra DOPE.
Robby is a good man he does a lot of work for free. Thank you Robby Layton and crew
The ending legitimately brought a tear to my eye. Happy for Henry and everyone who contributed to this project. The end result is truly one of a kind and something to be proud of.
There has been an X-90 sitting in a neighbor’s driveway for years now. Makes me wonder if I should go and ask about it
Glad the judges did the split trophy. I'd hate for someone to lose out on a deserved award to a team with YT connections. Good way to do it.
An incredible transformation to be sure. Great work from all the channels and folks involved.
frr he literally got the paint job for free
Mad respect to Robby Layton! What a guy. Such quality work
18:56 the good news is your tachometer and fuel gauge are working
I love what Jay Leno's decided to do with his life. He's just balls to the wall supporting his main passion. You love to see it.
This is the purest embodiment of the automotive enthusiast community. Find a car you’re passionate about, modify it to make it your own, and if you don’t know how to do something phone up your buddy to help you out and make an adventure out of it. This is an awesome build and it has an incredible story well done!
Donut has been KILLING it this year with amazing videos. How this channel keeps getting better is unreal!!
You guys are awesome. Chris Fix, Junkyard Digs, OffTheLine Performance, Robby Layton, and of course Donut, consistently inspiring others to tackle a dream head on and just make it happen. You guys have helped me with my projects more than you know.
This has to be EASILY one of my favorite Collaborations I’ve seen on UA-cam!! ❤️
it’s so fun seeing Matt casually pop up in videos. the video Donut did with him, i’ve grown a new appreciation for offroading ever since i watched that
Huge congrats Henry and everybody, who worked on this car! You all deserved!!! 🎉🎉🎉
That is a bummer you took our light bar off. We would have LOVED to partner with you guys😢 ❤
Money talks no body walks
Best series on Donut. Easily a $75k+ build if one of us laymen try to pay for labor. Almost makes me miss being a car porter swapping car washes for mechanic work.
Shout out to Robbie Layton him and his team really are amazing they really have done some great things recently. Beautiful work for everyone involved ❤.
I’m so proud of you man! You and the boys killin it!! This series, win, and build was 10/10 . Leno knew you were going to win before you even started 👍🏼
Jay's a real class act! I love the way the car turned out, too! 🤘
This was such a cool story to follow! You made an absolutely sick car, and the help of some friends made it a dream come true. What an inspiration to the rest of us! Thank you!
Dude I cried when you were saying that you didn't win....then I cried even more (of pure happiness) when you were announced as a dual winner. Respect!!!
x2
The Porsche guy prolly cried a little bit too, haha 😂
Hahahaha sharing such an award with a far inferior car.
x3
I was incredulous, hopeful, surprised, often in a state of giggle and all-out laughter, then excitement and finally pride somehow as I rode this coaster with you. One of the most fun and wholesome @donutmedia videos ever. The involvement of all these amazing contributors and their hands on this build was epic. Each and everyone of them needs a massive show of love and prosperity to their business. Good job everyone! ❤️
Been following this with Matt and Robbie channels, amazing amount of work in a short time by some amazing people. Love it!!
So glad this came out as a full length video and not just the shorts. Love this content!
I did t care so much at the start of this project but now I think this is one of my favorites. Leno onboard is pretty great too. 👍🏽
Okay, hearing Jay talk about your journey, going on this journey, I teared up and clapped when he said there was a split. Wonderful documentary 10/10
The X90 is the dream 4WD you drew, and made out of LEGO, when you were 4 years old. It's one of those cars that were truly before its time. I love the retro TRD paint , even though its a Suzuki.
