What is the product you used to remove the algae and where can I find it? Can’t find anything in the stores and a power washer doesn’t get it all without removing the paint with it.

I live in a rain forest in Hawaii. That Mercedes was in excellent shape compared to some of the hoopties cruising around here.

personally, I would have definitely run a mold/mildew remover as a presoak, let it dwell, then pressure washed as a first step. Standard 2 bucket wash possibly with some more aggressive soap (maybe just dish soap since the car was so dirty) before moving to some test clay spots.
But, i doubt the brush did any significant damage to the paint because moss and mildew are generally pretty soft. I am sure there was a ton of grit on the paint in general though, which is where a presoak and pressure wash would have been a worthwhile step.

Wow you guys made that a lot more work than it needed to be. I did the same car, almost the same color and same condition. I used the Optima steamer it had the power to blow away all the loose dirt, hardened on dirt, algae, mold and sterilized it all in one process. No brushes needed no pool of water around the car. Well, I used a brush for the wheels but I did it by myself in about 2 hours including the motor and wax. Surprisingly enough even though it hadnt been washed in over 3 years the paint was in pretty good condition.

I think I’d start with a leaf blower outside. Then a good pre soak and power wash . Then bring it in and wash with hot water.

What is the name of that spray. My car has a bad paint job. It’s a white car covered in Mildew. I have tried just about everything I can think of and still it has mildew on the white paint.

Y'all threw away all that good compose away! You had enough yo put in the bottom of a pot to put outside the shop. lol That's for the videos. I just got a 1995 Astro Van from family members that needs a good clean up. Especially, on the inside. I also have an Acura that's been sitting for almost a year.

Nice informative video... However, I agree I personally would have lightly power washed the car before scrubbing with the brush to reduce the risk of potential scratching.
    Otherwise great!

I know its an old car. However, a brush on paintwork is a big no no. Would have been less effort to snow foam the vehical then rinse the majority of the muck away. Mr Kosilla would not approve!

That last part is so misleading.... filming the car when it's wet. I believe it will look like that once it's done, but not right now.
It's like when you see cars for sale adds, and they take pictures coming out of the car wash!
