  • I only took it a part because I was curious if I can add more batteries to it so that it would last longer and to do that you need to take it a part.

    If only 18650 cells, they should have used 26650’s or perhaps 21700’s instead. You might be able to build external packs and parallel them into the existing battery circuit.

      Leon Guibani not yet my friend, I spoked with a neighbor of mine which knows electronics and he said that the battery unit is build in a way that when the speaker is running the battery's discharge themselves one by one, when you change the unit they are connected in series, so they will charge up at the same lever together. The problem is that If I want to double the power I have to build another unit exactly the same way 4 battery's connected in series to obtain the same voltage and then in parallel with the original battery unit, this way the amps are doubled, we will now have 20.000 mah and the speaker will last double the time. The problem tough is that you cannot charge the two battery units in series because it will double the voltage at this point. The solution would be to buy another exact battery like the original and install a switch button and when the first battery pack is done you can switch by hand to the other one, the same thing for charging them. Or we need somebody who knows how to build a 20.000 mah battery at 14.4 volts. I was thinking to double the battery's on the same pcb board but I don't know if the pcb can support 8 battery's. This is the next question that I have to ask my neighbor. Thank you buddy you just made me realize that it may be a way to do it!😉

    the pb 100 is 2500mah at 14.4Volts (2500mah 18650 at 3.6volts each X4) Replace those with LG MJ1 battery which each 18650 cells rated at 3500mah of capacity. you may get more battery life with just an upgrade of 1000mah from the stock batteries

    I would be interested in a power amplifier chip used. In my opinion, it could be a digital amplifier for efficiency. For example, the TDA7498 or TPA3116 both have a fairly similar sound character and in my opinion ideal for this type of speaker.

    • @florincostinelionita

      IT would be interesting replacing the amplifier, but I'm not able to do that, I don't think I have the knowledge. I tried to make a new battery but it's messy, I build a 4s battery with 8 cells but I cannot replace the existing one, it has its own bms board and there are not a positive and a negative wire to solder and that's it, it's way to complicated.

  • @justincredible2099
    @justincredible2099 4 роки тому

    Hey there!
    Have you already considered to build in the DC power input like in PB300 or in PB200? There are videos where PB100 works with 12V. I personally think that 12V are not enough for good sound quality if 14.4V are required (that’s why the sound is better if plugged in to 220V). So, if we know the ideal working voltage (14.4V? - here we have to measure inside the PB100) then we could build in the DC power input and use any external power bank which can provide this voltage. Advantage is, you can take this power bank with you only if you are planning longer gigs, otherwise those 4-5 hours by original battery would be enough. And the power bank can be used also for other devices and can be charged easily.

      Leave the internal battery's the way they are. Rather buy an mini power station that outputs the 220volt or 110volt if you using american plugs.
      You do get small 150w or 200watt with pure sine wave inverters and battery bank inside those are also lithium-ion. They sometimes have 18 or 20 of the 3.7v lithium-ion 18650's or 21,700's in them. or some have Lifepo4. They are also small and can be carried around. They should be able to recharge or work as "plugged in" for that extra oomph at least 2 or 3 times over.
      Something similar to this maybe :

    Then just ad some 220 V wire from the new pack in the bottom to the original pack at the top. (POLARITY !)
    Be aware of it has to be connected to the protection circuit of the original BP. Also, be aware of you won't have any thermal protection on the new pack, unless you want to complicate the build unnecessarily.

The fact is that a programmable controller is installed on the BMS board, configured for preinstalled batteries and it does not allow using a large capacity. Florin Costinel Ionita it’s possible if you reuse the circuit but now it will be 4S 2P configurations. The case for the battery can be 3D printed from a company on the web. Having in this configuration just basically doubles capacity not the voltage. Pb300 on the other hand, use 7.2V which is 2S 4P configuration. I’m just hoping the circuit board for the battery can charge it on a higher capacity. I hope you get what I mean. S= series P= parallel. Series for higher voltage. Parallel for higher capacity

      PB 100 4 Cells X 3.6 V X 2500mAh = 36 Wh. Advertised as 2500mAh
      Wh is reasonable way to compare total battery capacity.

      priit leemet yes voltage X amp = watts. I might make a battery pack with its own charging port for pb100 and just plug the battery directly. The lg mj1 18650 has higher capacity. 3500mah by just replacing the cells from the pack, you’ve essentially increased the capacity of battery pack of pb100 by 40%. I’m not doing it yet because it’s still under warranty.

      I would suggesting buying 18650s and building your own battery pack. The ones in their speakers looks like dogshit.

    Anyone figure out how to wire in a second set of batteries?

    • @florincostinelionita
      @florincostinelionita  4 роки тому

      Shaun Williams the Mother house of JBL says that the battery is 14.4 volts and 2500 mah which makes me think that every single one of them is 0.750 mah....🙄
      My thoughts are: if we can replace the battery's with the same voltage and 2500 mah each we can have a 10.000 mah battery which will at least triple the juice 😅

      @@florincostinelionita No. In this battery, 4 18650 cells with a voltage of 3.7 and a capacity of 2500 mAh each are connected in series. Therefore, the entire battery has a voltage of 14.4 volts and a capacity of 2500 mAh. There are 2 options for increasing the battery capacity: 1. Replace the 18650 cells with more capacious ones, for example 26650. 2. Add one more the same element to each 18650 element in parallel, if possible choose with the same parameters

      Alexey Datsyuk thanks man i was thinking to add in parallel to each one but I was not sure if the charging system will support the whole package.
