Sharp’s violent behaviour and dominance have left a lasting impact on those who share the prison space with him, n this raw and unfiltered episode Sam delves into Michael Sharp and his time at Strangeways prison, he has been described as a bully within the prison walls, his reputation is one of intimidation and fear, ruling over fellow inmates with an iron fist.

I happen to have an extreme dislike for bullies.
Def
I use to hate prisons and the people that had the keys and give me warnings every time I got out of my pad but as I got older and watched prison go from buying batteries on canteen if u had a stereo to having tvs computers and then the staff was all starting to be quiet and got told what to do younger and younger the prison system today is an absolute nightmare I preferred it wen I was pissing out of the window I stopped going to prison wen I was 30 and stayed out with a girlfriend flat living free at last then in 2016 I let some people into my flat and they had a gun and had robbed the local co op I got forced out of my home by the boys in black pointing guns at me I was charged with conspiracy to rob got to trail and long story short because I didn’t want to stand up in court and go q e I ended up serving 5 years 11 months I lost everything because of my life style I’m out 2 years ago and I want to say that guys like you run prison proper I’m 42 and I’m glad that I got
meet guys like you ( firm but fair ) ye I couldn’t do 1 second in there now but I learnt some things in prison that I would never have been able to do like circuits every day bedpack before breakfast porridge 💀so I’m home new girlfriend and feeling better, keep up with the stories
👏💯👍
Bullies are insecure and like to deflect their insecurities onto others to try and make themselves feel better. It's a shame really.
@keithdavies307 cool story bro......no body cares.
You do tell a good story, Mr. Samworth. Could listen to them all day. ❤
you should buy sams books the stories in there will make your hair curl
have you read his book about his 18 years as a prison officer?
Glad they got together n got revenge I hate bullies
I could listen all day; most of us are totally ignorant of the workings and life in prison.....and I hope it stays that way too!
Most bullies and liberty takers I've seen in my years always have a heavy father or family behind them, always cowardly when it gets put right on them.
He sounded pretty fucking hard to be fair. Sparking out 4-12 people single handedly and only being taken out during a 4 on 1 preceded by boiling water and sugar being dumped on him lol? Granted he is a bully and a piece of shit but he does sound hard as nails haha
Spot on, same here.
Ya, same as when I think of two lads I know. They’re fathers were pricks
I mean, he's fought off multiple attackers (up to 16) on several occasions and was trying to get back to general population from the infirmary after having scalding hot sugar chucked on his body by four guys so can hardly say he's cowardly. He may be a bully but he certainly can handle himself lol
My stepdad would beat me and my brother when we were kids. Then when my Mum come home he would act all nice to her like nothing happened. He would make our lives hell. I just turned 15 and hit him back he started screaming and shouting to the neighbours to call the police. When I was little he could throw his weight around but as soon I was big enough to fight back he was a wimp . I hate bullies with a passion because of him, some days i was terrified to go home i would go to a friends house or just walk around on my own sometimes. As I've gotten older I've realised all bullies are the same they're the biggest wimps going.
Hi Sam hope your well found this vlog extremely informative and insightful thank you for sharing your thoughts on this individual it helps us to get a better understanding of the types of environment and the types of people within in closing you really do help a lot of people thank you for doing what you do
When I was about thirteen I went on holiday to Hornsea, there were some wooden ex military sheds that kids could go to for a two week holiday for free. There was about 12 pairs of beds all in a line with a private room at the end for a teacher.
So we were all allocated a bed each, much to my terror I was between Paul Sykes and fat Suggs the school bully, we hadn't unpacked and fat Suggs started on me, I thought I was in for the most miserable two weeks of my life, Paul Sykes said Suggs leave him alone we are all here on holiday, Paul said to me if Suggs bothers you tell me and I will flatten him.
So Paul Sykes save my life!
Yes, that would have been a terrible holiday without his help. Hope you had a good time there. Stress free😊
Serves him right, bully
Thank u for the uploads
Keep up the good work Sam, recently subbed to the channel and very much appreciate the content
Great documentary mate .
another good one sam.👍
For those who don't know the hot water from the recess is like super heated steam. Nice one Sam
One drop of that water kills 😂😂 you have to be on your toes around that water
Why, thank you for that.
I'd love to see pics of him after the jugging
Shame about Paul, he could have been a somebody. Paul always said he hated bullies but was one himself
The fact that he is still talked about today, has had 3 books written about him and his life is about to be turned into a film probably suggests he was a somebody 😂
I always enjoy listening to you
Falling to sleep listening to this 💤
At least he just taxed young boys not like his dad then
And if any tarts won't do dispute this you are hiding a Speedos history I have seen monster sized bullys in my life they all get it shite house bastards
I can never fathom the British worship of these criminal personality's
@smegheadGOAT what are you talking about... It's human nature WORLD WIDE
Agreed - very odd. Just basically bullies and idiots - I think is some sort of boyhood idea of it being cool to be 'hard'. Strange still championing that in adulthood
guy who scalded him was kieran stapleton know as physco doing 30years rec for a shooting in manchester
He gave himself that nickname lol, a right hard man shooting a little Indian University student when the dude was by himself walking home in Salford for no good reason, like there is a good reason for doing that. Wannabe gangster.
@@JonnyRatclffe3467 don’t mess with guys like that,
Sounds a bad un
@martinfretwell he shot an innocent student for no reason. Complete prick
Too many tits flying round with nicknames they gave them selfs 😂😂😂
What's your opinion on Paul Sykes and the rumours of him abusing YP's, I've heard former Cat A's saying there's no way he'd have got away with doing that stuff, and they'd never heard anyone say he done in while they were in there, some even say the rumours was started by screws who hated him?
Well you do know that he was good friends with JIMMY SAVILLE.... Now that's a fact
@AskumarRawtek so was our King 🤣.
Yeh, aparantly he dis some debt collecting jobs for him.
I'm not defending Sykes, it's just that you don't know what to believe with all the conflicting stories, but I'd assume the ex Cat A prisoners would know if he was a r**ist in there. Also, there's no smoke without fire, so he must of been up to some shenanigans in prison, consensual or not.
He raped yps in Walton and armley jails wiv the Liverpool wrong in Delroy showers,b cat locals and could never do that in catA jails he’d be done in rapid trust me,iv just served 8 yrs as a catA and no
Was in Nottingham nick in the 80s, and Sykes lasted 5 days before being yeeted. 5 days !
I heard a similar story from a prison officer in Dartmoor jail when he told us, that he worked in Brixton jail, and the worst beating that he ever saw someone get was, the son of Frankie Frazer, the officer told us that he had literally never seen anything like it, the beating was horrendous, unbelievable but if you’re gonna throw your weight around especially men against kids then you’re just asking for a good beating and rightfully so as well, a bully is a fucking scumbag excuse my language.
I locked Paul Sykes up on remand lay down from Risley, then again when he came back to Stangeways on Accumulated visit on his 8 yr sentence for bother in Blackpool. Paul was a gent amongs convicts and he knew what a mess he had made of life when his British heavyweight chance went out of the window.
A gent? He was a bully who raped young lads. Not my definition of a gent mate.
i dont think they should let prisoners do weights so they cant get over powered...if they want to do fitness get them into yoga
It wastes their energy and they have zero cardio, so although strong their bulk means they tire very easily
@johnnybravo9096 I get that but letting violent men get stronger is not a good idea for anyone...maybe instead of a gym room they just have cardio machines
@@brettsmith6144 Completely agree Brett. The entire prison system needs overhauling and altered with intelligence to actually serve a purpose instead of what it currently is and has been for the last century which is a university and finishing school for criminals and wannabe criminals where they are forced into a life structure, fed and watered, given the facilities as you rightly point out where they can develop themselves physically, learn extensively about crime and make endless connections and acquaintances to utilise in the future and are also able at the cost of the taxpayers to gain education and a degree in whatever they fancy as well as social and personal facilities such as pool tables, table tennis, cells with television and satellite tv, internet and connection to the outside world, games consoles and God knows whatever else.
The entire system is fundamentally flawed and needs to be in my humble opinion split up and separated into various sections whereby prisoners go through a kind of vetting process where they have the opportunity to be monitored and interviewed by experts who can then deem them capable/desiring of rehabilitation and if they toe the line and do the things necessary then they should be taken to a separate prison for people who are to be offered complete rehabilitation and education whereas the ones who do not and I’m talking about the very worst here who are a danger to society and show no remorse and zero interest or willingness to change should be housed in a maximum security prison where they do hard labour to pay for their upkeep and to give the genuinely remorseful people who want or can change a real opportunity at changing their lives and rehabilitation.
This is just my thoughts on the subject as I have known a lot of young guys who have gone in for relatively small infractions and due to the intimidation and survival first mentality have ended up coming out as hardened criminals or certainly with the tools and intent to become one because that’s all they know and not all children have the same chances in life or are lucky enough to be taught right from wrong and I believe we owe it to them to give them a second chance and lumping them in with life long hardened criminals is completely irresponsible and ineffective and also it is an insult to the public tax payer who is also owed a better representation of how society would like to help them.
It’s as simple as this, if a doctor tells a heavy smoker
that you have cancer in a certain part of your body, the aim is to eradicate it by cutting out the infected areas and tissue and use of other therapies such as drugs or radiation to keep any regrowth or cancerous cells from coming back or spreading.
What you don’t do is leave the cancerous area there and allow it to spread and infect the good tissue and not bother with radiation or drugs and continue to smoke/ drink and allow it to develop to where it eventually is everywhere and in everything and you suffer tremendously until you then die.
This current system is just insanity and a disgrace to our society.
You're an amazing guy to listen to you really know your stuff ,over the years I've seen bullies getting their just Desserts because they are that thick they forget a lot of small guys grown to really big guys then it's payback for these clowns the biggest majority of bullies are either dead or hiding from their victims, clowns the lot of them, keep up the good work big man, you're a gentleman, Donald from Glasgow Scotland.✌️
Obviously not got over that proper good 16 year old hiding 😂😂😂
It all started with Cathy’s purse
I heard this story a little different from a certain podcast - he was playing chess or something when stapleton poured the bucket over him not fighting the other lads - the fight happend after the jugging
I have read all the books on Paul Sykes life. He had an high IQ its a shame he wasted his life in prison he could have been a great boxer and weight lifter. The son reminds me of Grossberger from the film Stir Crazy.😆
bullies are just inadequate frightened people.
Good to hear it from professionals rather than faded gangsters
Kettles in cells changed everything !
@@Sawdust-f4p because now theres a kettle in every cell.... went up 10 fold when they bring them in.
I was in Moorlands on a YP wing with him 20 years ago. He was a bully even then he tell everyone who would listen about his dad. Don't worry change his name to Sykes Paul had nothing to do with him who was the illegitimate child of a side piece. I live in Wakefield and he's not well thought of.
The kid who done sharp. Is a kid from Salford. Kieran Stapleton. Skinny kid but an absolute psychopath.. I knew him on the out. Knife merchant.
Bit like me but not as psychotic ❤
You mean the guy who murdered an innocent Indian student like an absolute coward..
@@Jonnydea yeah that's him.
@@SauceBottleChest88 come on then
Did he use the knife? Would he tango with another armed fellow? Bully or braveheart?
I was listening to report on Wandsworth was in dire. Strates, do you believe another strange ways? Is imminent due to the outer control nature of prison and was it better in the older days? Prison officers like you is what they need Officers like yourself
There are many tales of Bullies getting smashed in prison ....does not seem to deter others though does it ? surely Bullies know what might happen if they flex on the weak ? they know bullies are despised but they still bully ...
Do you know why. Cos they are bullys
It was Kiran Stapleton from Ordsall Salford wasnt it? Think he did it as soon as he got on the wing and witnessed the bullying.

I remember Paul very well. I still go to see him occasionally he has a nice little spots at the end of a church yard. overlooking his City. I never had a problem with him and he never had a problem with me. thankfully 😁 the man with shovels for hands. And I think he's son is trying to act like him. But he is doing a crap job at it. (Most of the time) the Paul I remember had to have a reason to put somebody in hospital. He's son's reason is probably that he just wants to. Bully definitely.
Obviously worked different to his dad and looks absolutely nothing like him 🤔
@@JamesTodd-vw8vh I didn't say that he looks like him. I have the gift of sight🤣
Your right I know what you're saying , he could just be the bully who thinks his dad's paul 🤣
It was when he was on the beer that problems happened. he was barred from practically everywhere in Wakefield and back then the bouncers used to be able to handle themselves. Many pubs used to be owned by Rugby League players in 70's and 80's and they didn't tolerate him. But where he could get in he was a menace when pissed.
Also both his sons are doing life, not only Sharpy, but Paul junior. One murdered a former copper in a house robbery gone wrong and Paul jnr, stabbed someone in Lupset on Broadway.
If you were brought up around that area at the time, everyone had a Paul Sykes story, mine is this. My dad was his age and was big lad himself and played Rugby League for a few Pro sides, he and his mates had a few run in's with Sykes after training or a night out, he'd never let them down if they were qafater a ruck.
One of which was when he was out with my mum in a Chinese in Wakefield called Jumbo's and was talking to this guy called Paul Burke, well known hard man back then, but went on to start up Jiffy Jonny's if you remember them, competition to Durex and Durex bought him out for Millions, went from being a dodgy bastard to proper businessman, anyway Paul Sykes comes in all tanked up, came over to their table and was acting the twat with him, my dad and his misses. so Burkey got up, after a bit of back & forth he launched him straight on his chin & put him down, then grabbed him off the floor, and put his head through the big fish tank that they used to keep these big goldfish in back then, that ended up all over the floor. Then they grabbed him by his legs and threw him down the staircases that was above the shops near the Cathedral on the first floor. He was a thoroughly unpleasant man, ask his former wife kath, he was not right in the head at the best of times but especially when he had a beer inside of him and used to want fight every bloke that looked at him
@@BJJPaulos74decent story but want my advice keep your lies simple.
The head through the fish tank outed you as the liar that you are.
Ive just got out of hmp ranby, Michael is in there, he's not a bully anymore, full blown meds junkie, only thing he's fighting is his addiction I'm afraid n he aint putting much of a fight
Another great story GLad the bully got it 👍
I was in armley nick with him before he got his 28yr sentence he was on remand and what a horrible person he is
Epic tag fella!
Who would win out of him and The infamous Danny Gee 😂
I seen him in Armley Leeds , wasnt giving it The large in there
Yeah scared to death in his own local remand jail.
But yet he bullies the cat As.
Hmmm think harder
I once met him in redbeck cafe, his dad Paul Sykes, in 90s he got me to drink some coke , had whizz in it I was with my mates so I was ok , but he spiked me , we was in a old vauxhall Nova SR , I started seeing things in car park like tumbleweed an horses and carts , must have been good stuff but I was already off my head, so I don’t know what he gave me

That's not Sykes, I think it might be the actor that's about to play him in a show they're making. This show was all set to start before COVID hit I think?

Amazing when we had Michael he smashed up one night and caused himself some bad injuries. He didn’t look too big when he got to us.
Well! It is to be expected growing up dysfunctional.

A notorious man,,,

I thought that was your crisps and telly shed Sam.
I NEW Paul sykes known him all his life, whilst he was alive.
Great story
He weren’t a bully wen he got slashed up on e wing in the showers at full sutton
Why did he have a different name from his father?
My brother was in jail on yoi with Michael said he was horrible and would end up doing life and then years later dropped paper Infront of me "told ya" he said. And he was right lifed off. are chris ( myolder brother now passed sadly) was in 0 doubt about his future and he proved him right, Michael was a truley vile lad.
God bless you mr samworth ❤
Watching the Documentary on Paul Sykes he treated his kids very badly no wonder they turned out like they did
How tall would you put Sykes’ son? Paul was 6ft 3.
Behind EVERY SINGLE BULLY there is childhood trauma .
They are subconsciously very weak people .
I've got a mate who worked on the doors on famous london night clubs and pubs where some bad people frequented and caused trouble but he sorted it. He had some terrible child hood trauma but he was a great guy who cared for people and hated bully's! Some bullies are just insane or naturally evil!
With a dad like Paul Sykes god knows how many beatings he took as a child, there’s a video on UA-cam where he comes out of jail and is telling his kids they will get a “proper “ beating when they reach 16 I’m sure one is Michael
Both Roy Shaw and lenny mcclean had abusive fathers who beat the shit out of them when young kids of about 10yrs old which seems just coincidence but I think it's childhood trauma like you said as it was definitely part of what made both of them capable of extreme violence.
@@brimcilroy9002 yes and they bully people who had good parents ❤️

All bullies get there day
I met Paul Skyes in Blackpool this was around 1991 my impression of him was a bully full of bs
Paul Sykes was a proppa man in his day but sadly became a fragile alcoholic before his death but my father in law is from Wakefield and he's a old minor but he put pauls lights out a few times in his younger days and Paul confirmed this to me when I first met my wife so he wasn't the hardest of hard men he was just handy and not afraid to have a spin .

Erm he fought for British heavyweight boxing championship
I think he’s in the 1% club

Unpopular opinion: Bullies play a vital Darwinian role in the survival of the fittest impulse. You either go under or rise above. Since there has been a concerted effort to remove bullying from schools, the kids are growing softer with each generation.
