Vegeta is such a great character in DBZ & DBS, but having Raditz as the main villain in the Sayain arc would have made more sense. 2 brothers with different ideas of strength, one ruled by frieza the other grown on earth. One focused on training while the other thinks he's at his peak. Would have made for interesting development

I agree, rad didn't have much of a personality. Vegeta is infinitely better, though they do end up wasting him. The sad part os the series went down hill since fan Boys were annoyed when toriyama wanted to pass the torch down to Gohan, but the goku ball huggers wanted him to be the hero forever. There was a fan manga that brought him back and did a fantastic job at explaining his actions. He was scared for not just his life, but for his brother; and the whole fight was a bluff, he wanted Goku to join him by any means necessary to protect his life. It's better explained in the manga but that's the gist of it.
I agree with you, and I see a lot of people misunderstanding saiyans. Saiyans love to fight yes but they never trained. Vegeta first trained after namek to catch up to goku. This was a setback for them to unlock their potential.
Not only did they never train but they were so naturally strong that they either won every fight or died trying... that's why none of them knew about zenkai boosts.... they usually won every battle relatively easily with their Great ape forms... Raditz even stated that the damage he received from Gohans enraged headbutt was the most damage he had ever taken lol... so there was never really any close fights for saiyans...
@@SpectreStatuskid Vegeta was training against saibamen but that doesn't seem very common from the other saiyans reaction... Seems like most saiyans just sparred or fought amoung themselves, probably why the saiyan race was always low in numbers... and the fact that saiyans were ranked based on their birth power level just goes to show that they weren't expected to get stronger than their projected power level from birth regardless of any training they might do...
It's not that they didn't train, they did, their training simply wasn't as refined as that received by Goku on Earth. As if saiyan adults didn't put much effort in teaching to their young, most likely a cultural thing, if the kid could learn to fly and shoot energy blasts by looking the adults fight then they would become warriors, if not they would be assigned to non combat tasks and that would be the end of that.
Raditz was so strong compared to the protagonists that they had no chance of letting him live, they had to kill him. That's the real reason he doesn't survive that battle, it's unfortunate for him that there were only two fighters going up against him with powers that weren't up to the task of defeating him outright without killing him, even Goku had no real qualms with it since there was no other way. When it came to Vegeta, if the genkidama and then Gohan falling on him hadn't messed him up so bad he would have either had to have been killed to stop him or they would have all died, just like with Raditz.
Well put my friend. I was pretty sure that was kind of something that they made a point to bring to light so I'm not entirely sure why the video maker didn't even acknowledge that. Also, let's just pretend for a second like none of the facts actually matter, if Raditz had turned into an ally and Goku would have brought the "good" out of him then his character wouldn't have had a point for ever being in the show at all. All Raditz is/was was a semi-strong wind and a hurricane warning before the actual wind and storm come in. I mean what's the point of fearing the hurricane if you're able to turn wind into nothing but positivity.
Raditz was genuine with goku, goku just didt understand his heritage of the sayians and thought he was straight evil but he was raised just like vegeta in harsh environment with frieza, raditz mainly just wanted kakarot to help him avenge his race but goku got cocky so he told him kill humans and took gohan it all could of been avoided⚡️
For some reason I can see him and piccolo forming somewhat of a mutual respect. Like there is an unspoken respect between Piccolo and Vegeta, and the two barely communicate to each other. But for Raditz I like to think they would be more friendly and even train together. Maybe form their own rivalry.
I don't think Akira wanted to change Goku too much, hence why he decided to end Raditz quickly. Like what super is doing now, introducing a familial element to Goku's heritage has been fundamentally influential to his persona and beliefs, despite being pure hearted and naive.
I remember in the 90s / early 2000s when i had just finished watching Dragon Ball & DBZ just started airing on TV & seeing Raditz for the first time was so badass! He genuinely seemed like such a cool villain. I felt that it was a shame that he was never brought back or barely mentioned ever again.
Nice vid and also raditz has great potential he was a lower class warrior who earned his way to the higher ranks working directly with the prince of sayians and general of the sayians, he would be op if lived⚡️
Raditz should def make a return. I can see a story where Frieza brings him back from the dead with DBs or something and trains him himself to weaoonize against the other Sayains like he did with Broly
Well I was thinking of making my own Raditz video on my channel, only for this to pop up in my feed. Looks like I don't need to. You already said everything that needs to be said. Great work on this video!
@@PlanetLevelDB Of course. He's one of the best Heels in the series. He showed up, dominated the strongest hero and villain at the time. He used his blood relationship with his brother as a mind game. And his panels are some of the best in all of Dragon Ball.
Really think they should find a way to bring Raditz back in the story. Though he never got to realize it, he should have an awesome amount of potential.
Loved raditz seeing how good hearted goku is you would think he would at least mention him one time or wish him back with nappa once vegeta was around. vegeta is the boss they would do as he said and once they saw the super saiyan power they would want to reach that level. Plus wouldn't hurt to have more saiyan allies during cell buu ark after some time in the chamber they would catch up quick enough with zenkai and saiyan potential.
One of the benefits of being from Gen Z is I experienced Dragon Ball from the original ocean dubs when they first aired with no knowledge of what was to come. So when Radditz first showed up he was extremely terrifying and will always mark for me this massive shift in tone for the series.
when did you remember seeing it? What sticks out in my head is the time upon time that runs would be ended at Jeice & Burter v Goku. When the second dub happened and voices changed... oh boy hahaha
@@ChronoSquare Would have to be decades from now. They aired a few episodes of the original Dragon Ball on whatever kidsWB was called before kidsWB and I wasn't much into it cause it was too kiddish for me at the time, but I watched it between shows when Saturday morning cartoons were a thing. Then I just remember tuning in one Saturday and Goku was no longer a kid and they were facing down Radditz and the tone was just sooo more serious and dramatic. I didn't understand wtf was going on but you could feel the intensity. Plus I wasn't yet used to continued story arcs expanding from episode to episode in those days, cartoons were always episodic.

Just put the thought in my head of Goku going super Saiyan if Raditz did kill Krillin. I would think the super Saiyan form requires a buildup before unlocking going by the first few sagas of DBZ; but afterward, the form kinda loses luster by how conveniently some saiyans pick it up.
Raditz wouldve been such a great and kool z fighter but Vegeta was a obviously great choice as well. Just wish Raditz was apart of the mix even if he’s not always along side the Z fighters like 17.🔥
I sold my old Dragon Ball Z action figures on eBay and the buyer demanded a refund because I had painted Raditz’s hair yellow as a child. Some picky broad from New York basically got a pre-release for free, what a rip off.
There is one what if about Raditz (Besides MasakoX's) that explore's Raditz's change or at least switching sides. It's a fan manga of it's own but basically it explores Raditz realising Vegeta and Nappa couldn't give two sh*ts about him dying, but while also realising Goku didn't really have any malice towards him, like he didn't want to be in a situation to kill him, while Goku still ends up dying. Realizing people who you worked with for most of your life would laugh at you while you're at deaths door, while the brother you never knew actually showed some sympathy for you on his own death bed begins to change that Raditz's perspective in a way I think would fit the series naturally.
My Headcanon is that raditz is the Low class saiyan with the most potencial in many generations, and for this potencial,Raditz was placed in Prince Vegeta IV's squad
That sounds very interesting and likely in the fact that it is the only reason raditz would be in the same squad as vegeta but also the fact he survived in this squad for years is telling
Honestly it feels like they just forgot about Radditz and Nappa. Neither of them were exactly EVIL, like Vegeta they were forced to live and fight the way they do, and couls have changed. They could at any time bring him back, even without DragonBalls at this point. It would be neat to see him return.
My favourite character IS Raditz. “yOuR tRyInG tO bE dIfFeReNt” you may say but no. I loved the 5 episodes of Raditz and his hair too. I really do hope he returns in dbs. (I know he is is dragon ball super heroes but that isn’t cannon.)
Something to point out too is that with Raditz being paired with Nappa(6,000) and Vegeta(18,000) with Saiyans normally relying on the Great Ape Form to conquer planets quickly, there really weren't a lot of opportunities for Raditz to get Zenkai boosts. Most worlds would be utterly helpless before the combined might of three Saiyan Great Apes. Since the Great Ape form is supposed to increase the native power by a factor of ten, Raditz in that form would have been around 12,000 which is a very significant power level for most of the galaxy and putting him roughly at the level of one of Frieza's elites. This also puts Nappa and Vegeta at truly terrifying levels with Nappa's Great Ape power being 60,000-stronger than most of the Ginyu Force and Vegeta actually being Frieza's most powerful servant at 180,000 in his Great Ape form.
I'm a big fan of the potential of certain characters, like Raditz or Yamcha. There's just so much that could have been done with them and simply wasn't that I really enjoy fan stories that fill in those gaps
sure, raditz wasnt tapping into the oozaru form or anything, but the whole point of super saiyan is to show how much the saiyan's warrior culture was actually holding them back from their true power. and vegeta took several huge mindset and culture changes in order to actually become strong. yeah, raditz has more morality than the other saiyans, but being hardened by the saiyan lifestyle was massively nerfing his power in the long run. same with the mentality of saiyan classes actually mattering, cause thats just an excuse to not train. yes, raditz was going and conquering, but using his strength to conquer planets in the oozaru form doesnt actually do much to challenge or harden the saiyans. remember, doing some pushups in a high gravity pod got goku up to the ginyu force's level, not by bullying small animals in his backyard. and thats not even to mention raditz's whole "im a high class among the saiyans" speech, which cripples him even further. even in this arc, he didnt know the fake moon technique, meaning he never would have been able to use his oozaru form, which is a big factor in vegeta's fight taking so long. the only saiyan who was actually successful with brute force in this arc was nappa, who had the saibamen. vegeta did a much better job of wounding goku than raditz did considering that its piccolo's attack that killed goku. by the logic of this video, having the potential to be the strongest means you could be the strongest, but the point of the story is that raditz has major shortcomings in his culture and mindset that held him back, and so did all the saiyans. if we're going by the potential of saiyans being the same as strength, then why not just have bardock do the super saiyan god ritual and beat up frieza? most of raditz's morality just comes from his pride in his people, the relative compassion he shows towards goku and gohan is just whether or not they're loving their saiyan heritage, which they dont need to be at this time, because the point is that the saiyans are patriotic to a level thats a detriment to their full potential. raditz could be swayed easier than vegeta? sure, but he wasnt, and not doing that means the story gets to explore more of what makes the saiyans' culture detrimental to their full potential. heck, wouldnt he likely just convert to "my race is the best" to "me and my brother are the strongest, so it takes being the son of bardock to be cool"? if raditz was a good guy, he'd literally be the same as vegeta, but you're trading off being the prince into being a guy with a stronger connection to the MC, and if the story is going to explore that your heritage isnt what gets you strength (which is what it was exploring during the saiyan saga), then it makes sense for them to not follow up raditz with vegeta. and yeah, the story is giving the saiyans credit nowadays, because its giving vegeta's pride in his past and history credit and applying that development to goku, but i think its more interesting to use bardock to explore that rather than raditz. i think if raditz and nappa were to be brought back, it'd be interesting for them to essentially be shadows of who vegeta used to be that goku and vegeta would have to confront, but its really odd that the story never really took the potential for post-development vegeta to confront nappa or anything (outside that one scene in GT that lasts for ten seconds with no dialogue from nappa). but seeing as dragon ball hasnt taken that shot? raditz (and nappa, sorta) are remembered as wastes of potential, because thats what the saiyans culture was doing to themselves. and the only difference between raditz and nappa is that nappa has an actual kill count
Imagine Raditz's influence over Gohan when Gohan is doubting himself while training for, or in the middle of, the fight with Cell. Goku can hit all the "protect what you love and care about" notes, but Raditz could have been a huge driving force for Gohan's mentality by influencing him to be proud of his superior Saiyan heritage, helping him break through the Super Saiyan 2 barrier even sooner. Like imagine if Raditz died instead of Android 16, and after Raditz helped raise and train Gohan from his arrival, through the Frieza saga, all the way up to the Cell battle. Gohan would have exploded lol. Vegeta hits Gohan with the Saiyan Pride note a handful of times across the series but it's never really established that Gohan cares unless I'm forgetting something. Raditz would likely be able to change that, especially if he helped Goku and the others train for the arrival of Vegeta and Nappa. Also during the Cell fight, everything could unfold pretty much the way it does and when Trunks get killed, both Vegeta and Raditz could go berserk. Vegeta for his normal reasoning, and Raditz because he's angry about a wannabe Saiyan warrior killing a true flesh and blood Saiyan, which would be fitting in his character since that was kind of his whole reason for coming to earth in the first place. Plus he and Vegeta would be able to have some crazy power boosts through training together since they're both familiar with the Saiyan way by default. I'm not sure how different the Saiyans would have trained as opposed to any other training but there's room to expand on some Saiyan military lore and such since Vegeta trains exclusively solo up until the Buu arc but it's not like Kid Trunks is an effective partner lol.
In other words, Raditz had much greater potential than Goku. Imagine his power had he gone Goku's path and/or redeemed instead of killed? He may have been relied on more than his brother to carry the Z Fighters. I often made Raditz my mentor in Dragon Ball Xenoverse games. Hes such an interesting character overall.
To be fair, Raditz doesn't attack unprovoked because his mission is different from when the other 2 come to earth. His mission was to find goku and he didn't know if Goku had taken over the planet and if those were saiyan/frieza's subjects he would be killing. When Vegeta and Nappa come they know that Raditz was killed on that planet so they were sending a message.
Bros. I was introduced to dbz through raditz. I had no idea wtf was going on, who tf anyone was, but somehow the show grasped me. Even if it was the very first dub, it honestly was the most retro.
While I'd like if they brought him back, Vegeta and Piccolo both fill the edgy teammate role and Vegeta even being the brother like figure to Goku now. So while I'd like if they did something with Raditz, I don't know where he'd fit in the group dynamic
Raditz is the only villain to straight up one shot Goku and defeat him twice in a row. Goku would have been dead if Gohan hadn't saved him and even then he had to sacrifice himself to help Piccolo take Raditz down. The "Raditz is weak" meme was started when Nappa said it and sheep have been repeating it for decades. 🙄🙄
Radditz was the hardest fight Goku ever fought. He could not do jack shit to him and it was 2 on 1 which does not happen often in DBZ. Even Perfect Cell and Freezer took damage when he fought them and so did Buu.
One of my favorite parts of this video is that you use the music from the original Japanese version! It is so different from the English dubs but it is so beautiful!
Currently Raditz is a example of how the own elite ideas of Saiyan stank they growth and potential, he really has potential for the Ssj, as we see i. Minus he has a calm personality, but growth around Vegeta make him agressive and and arrogant, that calm personality became cowardice what make him avoided fight those are stronger than him, making him never develop neither the raw power of his race or develop a flightin style that fit him, he basically fight with Brute force. For contrary Goku has less raw power in the moment because until the point most of his opponent don't have that much power, but specialize in techniques that could close that gap. Raditz was surprised and confused when read power level of his brother while use the Kamehameha, so it's likely he itself can't charge a attack, that is much stronger than thrown a hit while Goku doubled his power level during it.
It would’ve been coo to see Goku train on King Kai’s planet. Then request his older Brother be sent there. Raditz resists of course. Only for Goku, power level @ 5,000 to utterly humble him. Enraged by this discovery. Raditz doesn’t change his evil ways. But is unable to beat Kakarrot. Therefore he undergoes sufficient training with Goku to fight Vegeta & Nappa. For the 5 months of training left. When it’s all done. Goku (8,200) Over 8,000!!! And Raditz (12,000) Raditz was born with higher inner potential, but Goku can check or defeat him with the Kaio-Ken technique. King Kai trained both Saiyan brothers to become strong, yet reserved secret special training for Goku to learn The Kaio-Ken & Spirit Bomb technique. Instructing Goku to use these techniques on Raditz if need be. On the way to Earth realm, thru Snakeway. Raditz tellin Goku how Vicious Veveta is. How not to hesitate to kill that bastard. Hesitation is death vs a Super Elite Saiyan. Damn, this is exciting. If Raditz hadn’t died. It had been brought back to life. Would’ve been a real game changer. He def returning for that Gohan Rematch. Raditz feelz his Saiyan blood stir. Coordinating that they must eliminate Nappa 1st. To see Goku & Raditz team up temporarily and then fight vs each other again, is a dream come true. Raditz is def the most interesting Saiyan we’ve ever known.
I wished that when they was doing the spam revival ark, they never brought back Raditz or Nappa. I feel like they would have been super interesting to bring back way down the line with them way weaker compared to Goku when they would come back.
Krillan was also swayed by Goku, at most he was a jerk rather then an actual villain but he was antaognistic to Goku when they first met as he saw him as a rival for Muten Roshi's training.

Imagine if the Frieza Saga happened first. Power levels aside, Goku would've not only learned a great deal of his Saiyan heritage thru Vegeta and Frieza but also be able to avenge his race. It's dicey what'd happen with Vegeta, but it'd be even more interesting if he died and Goku would've been alot more likely to convert Raditz since he'd see little reason to kill anyone on Earth. It'd be great setup for Raditz to potentially face Nappa too
I've always said, having him as a foil to Kakarot would've been WAY cooler than having him as a solid ally. I see him as a general zod like character, trying to steal the DragonBalls to revive the saiyans. He would have been a treat on namek, it would've been awesome seeing he and nappa doing missions for vegeta and battling both frieza's men and the namekians.
Even though the real thing that's keeping Raditz mostly relevant are mostly the video games (Such as Super Dragon Ball Heroes and the Xenoverse games) to make him really relevant as one of the main characters would be tricky thing to do unless Toriyama and Toyotaro decided to make their next arc about Goku or Gohan go to hell itself and either of them encounter Raditz, Nappa, and Bardock (and other saiyans like Turtles but that's just me being wishful) along the way. But that the chance of that happening are very slim.
honestly what would have really saved Raditz was a haircut I feel it's extremely likely Akira Toriyama just didn't enjoy drawing all that hair, given that's basically the reason we got super saiyans lol
3:29 That's a sensible way to explain why Raditz is not as strong as the others, but at best it'd be a retcon if ever officially confirmed. The reality is that there's no way Toriyama thought that far ahead. Zenkai boosts had not even been invented back when Raditz was introduced. Toriyama simply came up with Raditz, made him very strong for the heroes at that point, then he came up with stronger enemies later. That's it. Fans, in general, try to make sense of things that don't make any sense, and look for meanings deeper than the authors ever thought of. Nice video, still. In my opinion, making Raditz come back would not make sense. The only proper way to give Raditz more screen time would be to rewrite the story (which could possibly be done through a parallel universe).

Mmm. I don't think they NEVER trained (watch Bardock special), it just didn't take priority over battling and gaining strength that way.

One word: Yajirobe, the GOAT
Well put my friend. I was pretty sure that was kind of something that they made a point to bring to light so I'm not entirely sure why the video maker didn't even acknowledge that. Also, let's just pretend for a second like none of the facts actually matter, if Raditz had turned into an ally and Goku would have brought the "good" out of him then his character wouldn't have had a point for ever being in the show at all. All Raditz is/was was a semi-strong wind and a hurricane warning before the actual wind and storm come in. I mean what's the point of fearing the hurricane if you're able to turn wind into nothing but positivity.
I love the personility Raditz has through his moves
Raditz was genuine with goku, goku just didt understand his heritage of the sayians and thought he was straight evil but he was raised just like vegeta in harsh environment with frieza, raditz mainly just wanted kakarot to help him avenge his race but goku got cocky so he told him kill humans and took gohan it all could of been avoided⚡️

I always thought if raditz lived he'd be like piccolo and Vegeta put together in terms of his personality
I thought the same thing as a kid he looked so much cooler than Vegeta and Nappa
We need him back.
Like fr, he could have literally carried the cell saga simply by not being as arrogant as vegeta
Cell: let me eat 18.
Raditz: no.
Cell: please?
Raditz: no, die.
Nice vid and also raditz has great potential he was a lower class warrior who earned his way to the higher ranks working directly with the prince of sayians and general of the sayians, he would be op if lived⚡️
Good point about him fighting his way up through the ranks, definitely could have included that
Raditz should def make a return. I can see a story where Frieza brings him back from the dead with DBs or something and trains him himself to weaoonize against the other Sayains like he did with Broly
That would lowkey be based and make sense
Great analysis and I agree Raditz would’ve been a cool edition to the team. I always thought killing him off and forgetting him was a waste.
Well I was thinking of making my own Raditz video on my channel, only for this to pop up in my feed. Looks like I don't need to. You already said everything that needs to be said. Great work on this video!
Sorry to steal your thunder but glad to hear there are more raditz fans out there!
Just now seeing this channel, instant sub. Keep up the great work
Loved raditz seeing how good hearted goku is you would think he would at least mention him one time or wish him back with nappa once vegeta was around. vegeta is the boss they would do as he said and once they saw the super saiyan power they would want to reach that level.

So raditz could have killed krillin with that tail strike but held back and spared his life ( what a righteous righteous saiyan he surely took after burdock just as goku took after gine)

Just put the thought in my head of Goku going super Saiyan if Raditz did kill Krillin. I would think the super Saiyan form requires a buildup before unlocking going by the first few sagas of DBZ; but afterward, the form kinda loses luster by how conveniently some saiyans pick it up.
Back in the day, Raditz was one of my favorites. First DBZ anything I ever got was a Raditz action figure
Raditz wouldve been such a great and kool z fighter but Vegeta was a obviously great choice as well. Just wish Raditz was apart of the mix even if he’s not always along side the Z fighters like 17.🔥
Ye, I never understood why raditz was labeled as the weakest character when Goku had to have piccolos assist and even then had a problem.
Theres a reason why SS3 gives the same hair as Raditz
I sold my old Dragon Ball Z action figures on eBay and the buyer demanded a refund because I had painted Raditz’s hair yellow as a child. Some picky broad from New York basically got a pre-release for free, what a rip off.
LMAO
There is one what if about Raditz (Besides MasakoX's) that explore's Raditz's change or at least switching sides. It's a fan manga of it's own but basically it explores Raditz realising Vegeta and Nappa couldn't give two sh*ts about him dying, but while also realising Goku didn't really have any malice towards him, like he didn't want to be in a situation to kill him, while Goku still ends up dying.
Realizing people who you worked with for most of your life would laugh at you while you're at deaths door, while the brother you never knew actually showed some sympathy for you on his own death bed begins to change that Raditz's perspective in a way I think would fit the series naturally.
which what if is this?
in vegeta's defense he took the blunt of freeza's punishments
Raditz just wanted his brother back being the only family he has.
My Headcanon is that raditz is the Low class saiyan with the most potencial in many generations, and for this potencial,Raditz was placed in Prince Vegeta IV's squad
That sounds very interesting and likely in the fact that it is the only reason raditz would be in the same squad as vegeta but also the fact he survived in this squad for years is telling
more so because he was one of the few survivors
It's still an absolute sin that raditz was not used in fighter Z.
legit
Ive told my friends who play it "they put my boy radish in I'll get it and play with yall"
I always felt raditz was severely underutilized.
Great video dude! Never thought about Radditz this way, this makes me like him a lot more!
I'm a big fan of the potential of certain characters, like Raditz or Yamcha. There's just so much that could have been done with them and simply wasn't that I really enjoy fan stories that fill in those gaps
What I always wondered was why didnt we ever see raditz in the afterlife. That would have made for an excellent story arc. Still could really..
sure, raditz wasnt tapping into the oozaru form or anything, but the whole point of super saiyan is to show how much the saiyan's warrior culture was actually holding them back from their true power. and vegeta took several huge mindset and culture changes in order to actually become strong.
yeah, raditz has more morality than the other saiyans, but being hardened by the saiyan lifestyle was massively nerfing his power in the long run. same with the mentality of saiyan classes actually mattering, cause thats just an excuse to not train.
yes, raditz was going and conquering, but using his strength to conquer planets in the oozaru form doesnt actually do much to challenge or harden the saiyans. remember, doing some pushups in a high gravity pod got goku up to the ginyu force's level, not by bullying small animals in his backyard. and thats not even to mention raditz's whole "im a high class among the saiyans" speech, which cripples him even further.
even in this arc, he didnt know the fake moon technique, meaning he never would have been able to use his oozaru form, which is a big factor in vegeta's fight taking so long. the only saiyan who was actually successful with brute force in this arc was nappa, who had the saibamen. vegeta did a much better job of wounding goku than raditz did considering that its piccolo's attack that killed goku.
by the logic of this video, having the potential to be the strongest means you could be the strongest, but the point of the story is that raditz has major shortcomings in his culture and mindset that held him back, and so did all the saiyans.
if we're going by the potential of saiyans being the same as strength, then why not just have bardock do the super saiyan god ritual and beat up frieza?
most of raditz's morality just comes from his pride in his people, the relative compassion he shows towards goku and gohan is just whether or not they're loving their saiyan heritage, which they dont need to be at this time, because the point is that the saiyans are patriotic to a level thats a detriment to their full potential.
raditz could be swayed easier than vegeta? sure, but he wasnt, and not doing that means the story gets to explore more of what makes the saiyans' culture detrimental to their full potential. heck, wouldnt he likely just convert to "my race is the best" to "me and my brother are the strongest, so it takes being the son of bardock to be cool"?
if raditz was a good guy, he'd literally be the same as vegeta, but you're trading off being the prince into being a guy with a stronger connection to the MC, and if the story is going to explore that your heritage isnt what gets you strength (which is what it was exploring during the saiyan saga), then it makes sense for them to not follow up raditz with vegeta.
and yeah, the story is giving the saiyans credit nowadays, because its giving vegeta's pride in his past and history credit and applying that development to goku, but i think its more interesting to use bardock to explore that rather than raditz.
i think if raditz and nappa were to be brought back, it'd be interesting for them to essentially be shadows of who vegeta used to be that goku and vegeta would have to confront, but its really odd that the story never really took the potential for post-development vegeta to confront nappa or anything (outside that one scene in GT that lasts for ten seconds with no dialogue from nappa).
but seeing as dragon ball hasnt taken that shot? raditz (and nappa, sorta) are remembered as wastes of potential, because thats what the saiyans culture was doing to themselves. and the only difference between raditz and nappa is that nappa has an actual kill count
Raditz foreshadowing SSJ3
with that hair!
This is a great video. I hope your channel blows up

One of the Tekaichi games had a cool 'what if' story about Raditz being good
Great video! I watched it on x2 because I think the pacing is a bit slow, but the content is 10/10
I really hope we get to see raditz in the future especially since we see goku taking more pride in being a saiyan now
What a shame Raditz was never brought back. Redemption arch for Goku's close family *cheffkiss*
Each one of your video's is better thanthe last. Truly, you are fantastic with these video essays! - leifo
Raditz also had a far better visual design than any other saiyan. His appearance is at the same time majestic and savage.
Bros. I was introduced to dbz through raditz. I had no idea wtf was going on, who tf anyone was, but somehow the show grasped me. Even if it was the very first dub, it honestly was the most retro.

I love raditz❤ he's incredible 😅 he's got something about him thats great and incredible
While I'd like if they brought him back, Vegeta and Piccolo both fill the edgy teammate role and Vegeta even being the brother like figure to Goku now. So while I'd like if they did something with Raditz, I don't know where he'd fit in the group dynamic
The guy didn't train at all. His strength was raw and could have been far more.
I have always liked Raditz, I wish we got more of him.
It is so different from the English dubs but it is so beautiful!
well vegeta's change was triggered by bulma and not goku, but having a rival might have something to do as well
Currently Raditz is a example of how the own elite ideas of Saiyan stank they growth and potential, he really has potential for the Ssj, as we see i.
Ive always loved Raditz and its so nice to see him get some respect
Krillan was also swayed by Goku, at most he was a jerk rather then an actual villain but he was antaognistic to Goku when they first met as he saw him as a rival for Muten Roshi's training.

A Raditz video = A like
I'm sure we'll see him again. They say that he was training in hell but hiding or something. Maybe Frieza will bring him back
He definitely was killed off because his beautiful hair
Imagine if the Frieza Saga happened first. Power levels aside, Goku would've not only learned a great deal of his Saiyan heritage thru Vegeta and Frieza but also be able to avenge his race. It's dicey what'd happen with Vegeta, but it'd be even more interesting if he died and Goku would've been alot more likely to convert Raditz since he'd see little reason to kill anyone on Earth. It'd be great setup for Raditz to potentially face Nappa too
It’s very common for scholars to cite Raditz as one of the most influential fictional characters in the history of literature
I still want Super to revive Raditz
They should bring Raditz back
I've always said, having him as a foil to Kakarot would've been WAY cooler than having him as a solid ally.
But that the chance of that happening are very slim.
tbh what always shocked me so much is that goku never even tried to ressurect his father bardock after namek saga
honestly what would have really saved Raditz was a haircut
I feel it's extremely likely Akira Toriyama just didn't enjoy drawing all that hair, given that's basically the reason we got super saiyans lol
Always thought they would wish him back
Raditz came back in Super Saiyan 3… that hair. Honestly wonder if Raditz would have been more interesting to keep around than Vegeta
Raditz is literally the saiyan version of Ziggy from the Wire
