I want one. I treasure the old style of speech synthesis and friendlyness in the car. The displays are just gorgeous. I fantasize about simply getting one as a usual daily, not agressive interstate driving... God I hope this could be the one thing I could drive and cherish before I could go.
I might be getting one soon. Its 8 hours away from me and the guy agreed to trade my delsol for it. I will drive out there in a couple of days to grab it.
I had this system in my 87 Lebaron... Was great to hear that again. Mine always warned me to 'please close your rear hatch', even though I had a decklid and it was closed. If I remember right, there was a separate alert for the decklid.
My grandma owned an 84 LeBaron with a decklid, and there were separate warnings for the decklid and rear hatch. In other words.. Your Electronic Voice Alert is malfunctioning. Prompt service is required.
Pretty cool for a 1980s car to do that this is the defernition of a modern classic also his car doesn’t have problems you can do a system check where it says everything
VFD is nice but I prefer led segment displays due to longer lifespans and higher simplicity. I've seen so many weak or dead VFDs on clock displays or appliances and yet we have constantly plugged in alarm clocks from the 90s with led digits that are still bright.
@@TapesNstuffS I just wish LEDs could get as small as the segments on many VFDs so they could replace them but unfortunately it seems LEDs have a limit on how small they can get if I'm not mistaken
@@exoticcar5482 Well I have an old tape deck: Sony tc-k71 that uses small LEDs for the peak meter. I would imagine that today, they could make even smaller ones but sadly everything is going to lcd (boring). I think lcd just costs less but then you get poor viewing angles, low contrast and poor performance in cold weather.
I used to have one of those for a short while, it was cool. I once read somewhere that they were based on the same technology as the kids toy the speak-n-spell...
I remember in 1986 my Grandfather bought one of these cars brand new. When you put the car in drive and everything was ok, it would announce "all monitored systems are functioning normally" and within 2 seconds of it announcing that, the car completely died and had to be towed to the dealer for service 🤣

I like how they ripped off the Speak N Spell, I thought it was a cool, albeit goofy feature. What amazes me most is how it somehow knew when the brake pads were worn. Never saw another car with that feature.
the only way to believe MOPAR made such a car is drive it,i drove all of the models of this year clear back to 1969, THIS model was a screamer,be nice in inclement weather warned, they will roll
I didnt know chrysler made a spaceship in the 80s. Dope.
"I dunno what to tell you dude, shit's fucked."

It's great to here the EVA again. What a cool thing Chrysler came out with. GREAT POST

VFDs look so much better than the LCDs we're mostly stuck with now
Look better and last forever.
Agreed. I'm glad the new stove my parents bought has one.

The voice synthesis does sound very similar!
They did indeed both use Texas Instruments speech synthesis chips although the version for the car has higher quality speech.
So awesome.
