      Hello! Thank you so much for these clear video instructions! It cleared up my confusion about the middle part of the rectangle. You may want to check the instructions on your website, for the middle part it says to "Repeat Row 2" when it should be to Repeat Row 1 and Row 2. Thanks again for a great video!

      You have a knit 2 in video but pattern saying knit 3 on row 2 which doesn't make sense.

    I can’t tell you how pleased I am on this day to have found your channel. I don’t want to bore with my problem’s suffice to say that 4 yrs ago I had a stroke. I am immensely lucky to have come through all of that and I count my blessings every day. BUT…. (there’s always a but) my brain isn’t quite right, in that i find ‘counting’ hard and my speech has been badly affected. I used to be able to knit, pretty much anything especially Aran patterns . I loved them. To cut a long story short, I can knit, I can crochet and I’m thankful but as a beginner. I love garter stitch because it’s easy and I spend my time knitting and crocheting baby blankets and they go to our ‘Baby Basics’. So, thankyou for your clear, concise tutorials and excellent camera work. I’m going to start this corner to corner blanket tomorrow….gets my creative juices flowing again🎉❤. Thanks and hello from beautiful NI, Belfast.

    Laurelin thank you so much I've almost finished making your diagonal garter stitch baby blanket which i thoroughly enjoyed. It had holes along the edge. (Which complimented my rookie holes i made here and there by accident). Which was a good place to start I feel ready to try this one with KFB increase.
    I also appreciate the way you stick to a standard size for your blankets so it is easy to figure out how much yarn we will need, for a bigger blanket I just have to listen to how much yarn you used and x4 + 1 incase.

    I haven’t knitted for years, was once prolific. I learned to crochet just before Covid which was great as it was amazing being able to improve my skills particularly during that first year. I’ve just seen your blanket which looks gorgeous so I thought I would give it a go. I was very surprised watching your technique, totally different to how I used to knit. I have heard people talk about the continental style which I think is said to be quicker and more efficient. Is that what you are doing? Love the blanket. I remember my son and wife had a shop bought one very similar for their first born and it was very pricey!

    • @SnufflebeanYarn
      @SnufflebeanYarn  Рік тому

      Hello! Yes it’s continental knitting, my mum is from Finland and it’s her that taught me to knit so it was just me picking up the style she knits in. I would definitely agree though that continental style is much much easier for a crocheter to pick up when coming to the craft.
      (As a side note - I’m the opposite to you, I was a prolific crocheter and decided to learn to knit when my grandmother died as I wanted to knit socks like she did)

    This is the c2c equivalent of a fabulous beach reading book, I really love it. Question: can you advise is there a way to adapt this to changing two colors (to make stripes) but carrying the yarn so you don't have to weave in ends? Or should I settle for using a magic knot at the points of color change and risk things not looking quite as neat as they should?

    • @SnufflebeanYarn
      @SnufflebeanYarn  День тому

      If you take a look at my striped mitred square video you could use the technique I use for that to carry yarn up the edges when you change colours :)

    PS Interesting that you knit continental style, as I have recently learnt to do. It might be worth mentioning this to a traditional U.K. knitting audience used to the « throw » method. I find the continental knit and the Norwegian purl very relaxing.

      Hi Linda, I actually have quite a broad audience across the world so I haven’t felt the need to mention it - I can following throwing videos easily so assumed the throwers of the world can still follow mine too and knit the project in their own style :-)
      My mum is from Finland and I was taught to knit by her - hence the continental style 😀

    I just completed my first baby blanket using this pattern. It turned out great! Your instructions and pattern are simple and clear. I am just wondering if it is possible to not end with a pointy corner, or is that just a characteristic of a corner to corner blanket?

      Yes that’s just a characteristic, you start with a corner and end with one.

    Thank you for sharing this. For the part where you decrease at the beginning of each row, would you still knit two and knit two together for stripes (when knitting with two colours), please? Or will that cause the new colour to bleed into the new row?

      It should work if you are changing colour at the beginning the row then it should work fine 🙂

    I really like this one but I have to admit that I increase twice on one row at 4th stitch in from either side and use the second row as a pure knit "stabilizer" row with the decrease replacing the increase when its time to reduce at the appropriate side depending on if I am making a square or rectangle.

      Another great way of doing it too, I wanted to keep this really simple with the one row repeat 😀
      Also, when using a kfb if you’re increasing at the opposite end you’ll need to increase one stitch earlier than at the beginning otherwise your “edge” effect will be one stitch wider on one side.

      @@SnufflebeanYarn huh, okay. I've just been doing it on stitch 4 for either side and it seems to be working. Using the 3 stitches as the "edge" and the 4th in from either side as the one to increase... Unless I get annoyed early on when its still fiddly then I do it down the center as a variation on the mitered square on either side of the center marker with appropriate adjustments for rectangles when I hit the first decrease point.... Makes a nice subtle line down the center at least on the triangle sections. Not sure I won't switch to the outside edges for the decrease/increase on the extended center for the rectangle portion until its back to pure decrease since it shifts around the center stitch point during that extension....
      Sorry, I freehand everything because my brain doesn't like following instructions laid out on paper for creative projects. Building and engineering stuff? Yeah, brain has no problem. Creative stuff and crafting? Not so much. 😅

      The little “bump” from a kfb increase always appears to the right of the stitch, so if you work a kfb into the 4th stitch from the begging and the 4th stitch from the end on one side you’ll have 4 stitches and the kfb “bump” at one side and a kfb bump and 3 stitches at the opposite side, probably not visible to 99% of people but I am super finickety about things like that - a flaw in my personality.

      @@SnufflebeanYarn Oh! That makes so much more sense! I didn't realize but I probably would have noticed once I swapped from center line increases to the edges for the sideways shift (1 increase + 1 decrease) for the main body of the rectangle. Thank you for explaining that!
      Edit:
      I think I forgot to tell you that on the wrong side I was doing two purl stitches on either side of the blanket at sitch 4 & 5 from the inside which smoothed things over before I got fed up with it. It made a really nice effect.
