I love it because you'll feed on someone you didn't think was too important to only find out that you ruined the life of someone innocent by taking that person out of their life

yup, I fed on someone whom I thought was irrelevant and some other random person in her social circle went missing and afterwards became a beast
I wonder how far you can take learning about someone can you go all the way then know how it would effect everyone before you feed on them or do you always take a risk. Another thought is on a "NG+" playthrough they could change the relationships to always force us to investigate/take calculated risks.

Ps4 here no issues all playtraughs... all ps4 consoles after a wile start having issues you hve to reinstall evrything to factory settings... i have a 2tb i game lot i have to do this evry year almost it runs way better to wenn you do this clens it all up.

Honestly, if they had a bigger budget and more time to finish up and polish the game, this might've been one of the best RPGs. At the moment, the most people say "it's not bad".

When you see a very well made AA launch with a few minor erros, people like to use "sounds ok".
If you think about, it actually shows how good the game is. For a low budget, being slightly compared to AAA is quite impressive

Me and my wife have been playing it side by side on 2 consoles and we both love it its interesting to seen our different play styles I have spared everyone to keep combat difficult where she embraces the scummy ppl cuz the combat is to difficult for her its interesting to seen the different stories unfold and we have easily sunk 20 hrs into it already love it definitely worth buying

Ugly user interface aside, i'm loving Vampyr so far. It has some interesting mechanics where your choices actually matter, the story and atmosphere are great and while the combat is not extraordinary its serviceable.

So you like it so far then? because I have been waiting to get this. I want to support single player games so these people see they need to keep putting in the work for them. Because there is still a market for these games. I'm not much of a mutie-Player type of person. Everyone calls me a noob for playing single. But I like playing and watching the story unfolded. I don't no how that makes me a noob I have been playing games for a very long time. But I am glad you like it are you have any other problems with it? How is the difficulty?

Magnetar 117 The game isn’t exactly hard. There is no difficulty setting as the difficulty is based on your level. You will die a couple of times but it’s not SoulsBorne difficultly.

The funny thing? I could totally see this as being a real story for the Cullen Doctor. His moral battle as his thirst got stronger with each passing day. God, imagine if Twilight was a good story?

I am thoroughly enjoying this game. Story, soundtrack, character dialogue, intriguing environment, and I personally love the combat.
And playing it post covid makes it that much more intriguing of a story and setting.

@@bp4861 I played on hard or medium. Can’t remember which. The combat becomes more engaging once you’ve leveled and gained some abilities, that’s when it became fun for me. Prior to that I was actually unimpressed, so it may get better for you if you stick with it.
So talking to people and learning about their life increases the quality of their blood. Be antisocial and vampires won't dare touch you. Thank me later.

I was a remake of the legacy of Kain games. I want good vampire games like this or something similar to where you blend with normal people and kill. We also need more games to where we are the bad guy.
This is one of those games I play two game-throughs on: 1) Being the good guy saving everyone and only killing the needed few. 2) Have a f*cking blood fiesta on every person like; “oh you want me to help you do another side quest? How bout you show me the side of that neck? :)”

Just finished it last night. Great game, hope we see more from the setting. Amazing job for a AA title. Never killed anyone outside of combat. Ended at level 30. Upgrade your weapons and boost your stamina!
I've been playing this game for a year now and have never played a game with so many off shoots in story lines. Each time I play, I expand and play the character a little different. Engaging characters a little differently each time and woohoo it shoots off to yet another story with quests. Can't wait for the sequel!
Whoever is claiming a "death of single player games" obviously isn't a Sony fan.
Sony has been, almost exclusively, churning out single player games, and practically all of them have delivered, with more to be announced here in a week's time.
of course, since you have to pay extra for PSN plus subscriptions to access multiplayer. If Sony dont make good singleplayer titles then Playstation is fucked

Copper Fronts Should have arranged the words better, but what I meant is that Sony is barely releasing any multiplayer games, and even less multiplayer focused games; not that Sony is the only publisher releasing single player games.
I wouldn’t even use the word barely. Multiplayer games are by far still more popular. I don’t like it that way but that’s the way it is.

I get how the combat might feel a bit weird in the beginning , but after like the first hour I actually love it. Very simple yet still very fun , there is nothing wrong with it

I love it. Gets better the more I play.
But... it is probably 60% adventure game, talking to people, looking for items... and about 40% exploring and fighting. So be prepared. It is more of a Telltale style game than most RPGS. This gives it a LOT of story... which makes it more interesting... but slows the pace down.
As double A games go, it is really stable upon release, and even though the graphics are dated, it is atmospheric and suspends my disbelief frequently.
The game is made to give you a bunch of hard decisions and let you decide what to do from there. It is far from perfect but it works often enough, and is truly unique.
Definitely worth a buy, but if you don’t need a game immediately, you can certainly wait for a sale.
When you said generic vampire video game. And I realised there hasn't been many Vampire, Werewolf or and monster games. They should make some.
Playing it myself and I'm loving that we finally get a story that remembers vampires are frigging monsters, not angsty pretty boys or nightclub-hopping partygoers. That eventually rewarding the difficult to resist temptation to be a monster yourself is just icing on the cake.
Really loving the game so far. I'm getting really like...first mass effect type deal. Rough around the edges but it's amazing mechanics and story to be had ect. I have no issue with the combat. The way the game works is amazing and how you sleep and things happen to people and such. I do not regret My purchase. I thing some people are being a bit to harsh on this game considering it's the first one. Made by a small team. Look not every game is going to be a AAA blockbuster and that's okay. It would be unrealistic to expect it to be.
I'm probably one of the many people that came here after getting Vampyr this month on the PSPlus but I gotta say that I have already seen this video last year and that it made me very hyped about the game. I almost bought it during one of the PSN sales this past year but lucky for me I decided to postpone.

Its easy to go along with a doctor who specializes in blood as a vampire, because story wise, it could lead to him having a passion how to find new alternatives to satisfying his thirst for blood since it saves lives and allows other vampires to recognize his expertise and how to coexist in a city with humans and vampires working together. Could lead to a very good story where vampires can be everywhere without having to constantly have a mob rioting after them. Maybe the best vampires are all doctors since time isn't relevant to them and this is their way of "agriculture" or farming to upkeep their lifestyle. Makes you think if the last doctor who help you out at whatever clinic or hospital lives a hedonistic blood sucking life. Nah...that's just me imagining this.

I don't really understand why people dislike the combat.After watching reviews I went into the game expecting the combat to be terrible. To my surprise I loved the combat! The ability to stun and bite your enemies, gaining health, and the option to choose different abilities to fit your playstyle is a great mechanic in my opinion. This game is very unique and fun, I'd give it a 8.5/10

I've only played thru this game once but it was absolutely beautiful and has become one of my all time favorites. I literally cried in the end because of the choices I made. Watching this makes me wanna give it another playthru
I don't wanna spoil anything but has anyone ran into the dude that's a werewolf and you find out the hard way when you try to feed on him? The right choice can lead to you having werewolf and vampire abilities ..crazy but very innovative
I really, really liked this game. Dr. Reid’s backstory, and the post-Great War London, is really an interesting premise. I’m a sucker for story-driven games.
But he is right, this game has a *lot* of talking, and the combat isn’t anything special. Like Hellblade, the combat isn’t the draw.

This is straight up a great game and I hope to see a sequel and have the world, game play, and mechanics expanded on.

Watching after I've been playing it on Xbox Game Pass. I really enjoy it. It kind of reminds me of an old game called Nightmare Creatures which I believe was for PS1. I find myself watching reviews of games I've already played all the time. I just like to get other peoples opinions on the games I'm playing. I usually try to see if Angry Joe has reviewed the game, but if not I'll look for other popular game reviewers like I did with this game.

Not a dev, but the combat animations looked very loose and jarring compared to the solid animation in other points of the game. It's almost as it combat was not give the tender love and care other game aspects got. Some updates may help but it might be too labor intensive to add more combat animations to completely address the issue.
But again, not a dev. May just be full of crap.
Big Boss >> I definitely agree combat looks a bit floaty..and that dark souls lock on mechanic doesn’t lend the protagonist any favors either..the reason “nioh” worked so well was because the fighting system was solid...who the hell cares how enthralling the story is..if the gameplay is off...I can’t roll on devs just pushing titles out the door and fixing them later...that seems to be a trend now...hellblade looks volumes better than this...and is alot more polished gameplay wise...I think they should’ve sat on this one for like a half a year just to fine tune it...

No roll, no heavy attack, no block - well your feral zombie/vampire enemeies can block but you cant apparently. I enjoy the story aspects but I just keep wondering what the devs were thinking when they put this combat together.
Great game, but the only gripe I have is how many locked gates there are in this game. I'm a vampire with super powers and I'm stopped by a fucking chainlink gate.
I agree about rpgs, ppl complain but if it doesn't look like God of War level of graphics they dismiss it. I ordered it and so excited it to get my copy. Glad the story and progression holds up.
The voice acting in this game is pretty solid. I don't remember any stand-out moments, good or bad. The dialogue itself can be a bit circuitous with optional dialogue like asking a question, receiving an answer, then proceeding with the primary option only for the character to ask the same question he just got an answer to. That kind of thing really got under my skin and began to feel like those extra options were just wasting my time.
The combat is enjoyable at the best of times and rage inducing at the worst. Blinking from left to right while a lone human desperately tries to reload his crossbow in a dark alley is pretty exhilarating; it really captures the feeling of the nocturnal apex predator. However, at least on the Xbox One, enemies have a tendency to close wide distances between themselves and the player during attack animations that result in unfair hits. If I had a dollar for every time an enemy started an attack from across the street and slid into me for some cheap damage I'd be as wealthy as a Dawson (ha). Stamina is a vital resource in this game's combat system and you want to use it as judiciously as possible. If a target is outside of melee range, you don't want to waste stamina by dodging or parrying an attack that shouldn't have a chance of hitting you. Sometimes that works, but a lot of the time it doesn't. A lot of the deaths I suffered during my playtime were a direct result of this particular enemy behavior.
The game was under a tight budget, so it's understandable for the combat to take more of a backseat role during development. It definitely feels more functional than it does enjoyable. Sometimes it just feels like filler between story bits. I would have loved to see the combat and exploration expanded into a more stealth-action style like what we see in titles such as Horizon: Zero Dawn or Dishonored. Walking down the same street and encountering the same group of baddies just got a bit tedious for me.
I'm about 90% of the way through the story right now. Looking forward to finishing it. Just waiting for the game to recover from it's latest crash. :P

This game really drew me in. I made a few mistakes on the first three playthroughs, and stopped to do it right on the 4th. Got all the way to the ending and... started a new game right away. It's a keeper.

Loved Vampyr, so much so I played it through 3 times, got the Platinum, saw both endings and I am longing for more vampire games of this type, though hopefull with slighlty more polished combat and some bug fixes.
I loved how characters reacted to certain deaths, and how districts we're impacted by the choices made. It made me feel conected to thr situation and like the reviewer made me very selective (on mt free for all playthrough) about who and why I chose to kill, on occasion the dialogue felt long winded but overall kept me engrosed and interested, as doughtfull as DLC or a sequal would be I would find either/both most welcome, and even though this title had a low budget they produced in my opinion a great triple A game, more deep narative single player games are needed.
Bloodlines was freaking awesome. I went into it not expecting much, but have actually played it multiple times with each class just to see how each class played out. Malkavian by far was the best, but each had their own merits. With that being said, every vampire game I play will be undeniably compared to that one.
Here cuz this just got announced for ps+ october and wanted to see how it looked and this looks really cool

The game is fun the combat is not the best but still fun at least for me. Story is amazing love the atmosphere and finally a vampire game after a long time.

Hi Gameranx! As always a big thank you. You're before you buy series is my go-to before I buy a game. I think I'm going to wait a little for this one to go down in price and focus on some other titles for now. I think the mesmerizing system was a very good idea though. Looks like a cool mix of a narrative game with a little action mixed in.

I had the opposite reaction. I had way more fun fighting then exploring in this game. I didn’t kill any interactive NPC for experience and was living off of mission exp and had a wonderful time fighting. After running around the map for the 100th time and sometimes to give out medicine to the sick, I got tired of how difficult the map was to get around to the various groups of civilians.
I also had a lot of loading issues on my Xbox One S. Long load times and a lot of loading screens mid map.

But i can assure you, (im portuguese) aside from french, wich is also latin derivative but the most "tainted" in all other 4, POR; SPA; ITA; ROM, the word althought diferently writen, is pronounced identical in the 4 languages. I'm on my 2nd playthrough and that's rare for me. I have to really like a game to even get to the end of it once. This is up there with the Witcher 3, God of War, assassins creed odyssey, resident evil 2, as one of the best single player experiences of this Gen. I got it for $20,its free with game pass if you have Xbox but it's one of those games that after I finished it I would say for sure it's worth more than $60.i feel fortunate to own it for $20 and have recommended it to everyone I know

People say single player games are a dying breed? I don't know. I do like these massive games, but also sometimes I find them to be a bit much and am happy to play games that you can finish in a day or a few days. I got shit to do.

I just played it after the ps+ and the game was good. I was really surprised by the depth of every each charachter in the game and the dark and gloomy atmosphere is great. Although the combat was quite bad sometimes but the main feature of this game is not all about fighting. This game isn't scary at all if your a bit of a scardy cat like myself i fully reccomend everyone come and check out the game
I bought the game last night and waited till it went public to play. I ended up playing till 4 in the morning and had to force myself off it to get some sleep when I woke up this morning my internet was out and now I sadly can’t play the game. This is honestly the most upset I’ve ever been when it comes to not being able to play a game.

It's the end of September 2023, and Halloween is right around the corner. I played this game a couple years ago and I actually liked it quite a bit. I think I'm gonna play it again since it's still on PS Plus Premium/Extra.

This is my first vampire game and so far I’m loving it. It gives me Bioshock, We Happy Few, and Bloodborn vibes.
I thought this was like an Vampire the masquerade game when I heard it first.... Still not disappointed thought hehe
I would say that the game crashes and freezes a lot on ps4 but it’s still a great game so go for it
