Same here, not even for the single player, I feel like something like GT is a perfect place to start for a person who never did any racing games but want to get into sims eventually, it seems to be just the right mix of arcade/simulation to learn what is actually racing.
Saying that, some of the car models were still the same from GT3 all the way upto GT6. You'd have gloriously rendered, high definition cars battling it out with shitboxes with more horsepower than pixels.
I got a Limited Edition GT5 the day it came out. Still have it. I spent so much time playing it, that I beat the original Red Bull challenge before it got patched with easier times. All gold.

They send me their savegame and account and I do it for them. Pretty significant sums of money for me at that time, but I declined.
@@oblied the funny thing is that for all medals you get the X2010, but there was something special about the raw carbon X2010 and to get it you had to get all three golds. Whenever a server pop up for X2010 I used the raw carbon one and there were very few others that had one too. I was 25 when I played GT5 and the reflexes and mental strength needed to push that car to the limits for a number of laps was astonishing.
11:28 I don't think it was console's hardware that limited the physics of racing games such as GT. It's more to do with controller playability and target audience.
I think GT sport has it pretty spot on. Enough of a learning curve and still punishing enough, but still pretty accessible for the slightly more casual racing fan.
@@cooper512 for the target audience, yes it's spot on. But for sim enthusiasts, it's not very good. The tyre model is way off. Suspension model is actually quite decent. And the cars feel like they have weight to them. But it's the tyre model that ruins it for me.

GT has always been a great game and car sim not so much a good racing sim but it has always been on the leading edge of the photo realism which is what i loved most about it

The PS3 was released in 2007, and RPCS3 can emulate it pretty well in 2020, so yeah, 13 years later. However, the PS3 has very specific hardware that makes it particularly difficult to emulate. The PS5 is more standard, so the emulation should be more straightforward. I'm guessing 10 years tops to emulate it.

Insta buy that would be, had so much fun AND frustration getting the licenses or your ps shutting down after staying on the whole night to complete those endurance challenges, leaving you with nothing but to restart it all over...now racing on pc for some time so yes please come to pc as a whole game not a port
I remember plaaying the OG Grand Turismo on the PS1 at a friend's place, and no-one else could do that down hill right hander after the tunnel except me. I managed to figure out how to 4 wheel drift on a controller.. best feeling ever as an 15 year old car mad kid
GT sport has very good physics for what it wants to be. It does not want to be a competitor to iracing. The cars in gt sport do what you expect them to do in certain sitauations and it's a lot of fun and has a high skill ceiling. It's not nearly as complex and unforgivable as a realy sim, but as I said, they don't want to be like that.
Played GT from 1 through 5 before I no longer owned a Playstation and I used to love Trial Mountain, Midfield Raceway and Deep Forest. Some of my favourite tracks for sure.
I can not wait for Gran Turismo 7 to come out. My best racing game ever. I would give a copy of what ever my subs play on at the time. wooooh cant wait man.

Braking points ,lines in and lines out and taking a apex is how it should be done in real life.Yes it's a simcade but that's definitely intentional from polyphony so it reaches a wider market. Because the whole polyphony team are race car mad they could easily make the best Full sim ever made and now with the power of ps5 maybe they can do a full SIM in the future.
what i really miss about GT is the PP system(i know it wasnt perfect) and modding street cars and being able to set up a server in 2 minutes, me and my friend used to set stipulations like PP, HP limit and no RWD for example and then take what we had against each other within the limits, and sometimes people even joined and we had cool servers, if someone found an exploit, like the rx 500 around the 500pp mark if i remember correctly we just used to ban that car. it was the most fun i had in sim racing, just a shame the physics arent on par with assetto and they dont have it for pc
I am super new to Sim Racing, thanks to the VR headset. I would love the chance to play a game with a license/test system, challenges, track guides, and the like. From some of the footage I have seen it seems like Gran Turismo shows things like braking points, placement/positioning, gearing advice, and more. I think that would really help me transition from arcadey titles with a controller, to proper racing with a wheel, much easier!

I'm really hoping the rumors to a Sony response to Xbox's Game pass, particular the PC Game Pass, come to fruition in the form of truly downloadable games on the PC, and not just streamed games. It's been great being able to play the Forza series without the need of an Xbox console.

There are also Seattle, Motor Sports Land (GT2 and GT4 Version) and Special Stage Route 5 available (also a bad version of Tokyo R246 and a early alpha version of Special Stage Route 11)
The flip side is that a lot of people will get a PS5 just to play gran turismo, and then there's paying for online multiplayer. I'm not justifying it but Sony definitely considers that stuff. I'd love to have it on pc though
Deep Forest in VR in a SuperGT race...one of the most awesome experiences I have had!! Ran Gran Turismo style so a good but short 5 laps...just need some good GT music from the first title (As Heaven Is Wide) and for the Supras to stop crashing outta the second tunnel!! Other than that, bliss!!
I remember Deep Forest for the ridiculously overpowered cars in the Tuned Turbo series. Those things just yeeted themselves over the bumps at the end of the straight.

Given what they got out of a 4Tflop machine in GT Sport, It might even run well on my rx5700! For me, the first 3 were amazing, but GT4 is still the pinnacle. Blew me away in 2005 and played the absolute c**p out of it.
Ummm... why is the rear view mirror reflection in the Skyline at 90 degrees? Crushed ice in a freezer bag for no more than 20 minutes directly on the skin where it's sore will reduce inflammation and help ease the back pain Jimmy. With a minimum of an hour between applications.

Grand Valley, GT5 in Ruf CTR2 Yellow Bird. My favourite car/track combo in any Gran Turismo. GT5 made drifting so easy. Especially with a 270° wheel!
