- Currently one of the world's most in-demand football players, here's Erik Lamela on Trans World Sport when he was just 12. We spent time with him and his family in Buenos Aires back in 2004. He now plays for Tottenham Hotspur and Argentina.

Sadly, injuries ruined his career but he is still a very important player for Spurs
Long hair aside, he spoke very intelligently for a kid. Obviously got it from his mum who also spoke with wisdom in ensuring her kid enjoys football when he's young.
Yeah it's pretty admirable for her to counsel that he turns down the big money and security so that he can enjoy his childhood. And he's a great player now for it
This makes me cry when he says "my dream is to win the world cup just like Maradona" but stupid Sabella cut him off the list and Argentina made it to the final and they lost and Lamela scored an amazing volley against Germany in the rematch in Germany
he has a chance in 2018 and 2022. The Higuain and Messi might be old but Lamela will learn from aguero and partner Icardi. There are also many talents at River Plate like Lucas Romero

You can't compare the games. One is the real game, and the other is a showpiece without the pressure. Argentina would've still lost. Germany put 7 past the favorites in 2014.

10 games into the season and some of us are already writing him off, madness, he's a 23 year old in a foreign country and playing in a very foreign league. He has a brilliant touch, good dribbling, good awareness and good decision making so give him/her some time ay. Don't forget Gareth 'Superman' Bale's start to his Tottenham career.
