Great video, very thorough. I've been fighting the temptation to buy this one. It's a larger layout than I prefer to have at my desk. I think I just like the overall look and transparent case and I was curious to try those switches. Space bar does sound pretty rough unmodded. It's even discounted a bit during their summer sale right now, but I think I'll try to resist this one.

I've just filmed the Elf Pro for a review. That one is well worth a look and a similar price to this one.

as I get older, the more I realize I like the quiet keyboards as I am prone to headaches. last thing I want is to get one while I play or do work. or make a current headache worse lol.
it's good it's hot swap! I can get silent switches and just sell the stock ones!! tape mod and foam mod is what I plan on doing with this. maybe even get better key caps.

The switches are rather blatant (and accurate) clones of Akko's Lavender v3, very lovely high resistance, short throw, pre-lubed tactile switches. Out of the box it sounds like it's leaning towards thock too, so between the Akko clones and sound profile, that's already a win in my book. The fact you managed to get even deeper and quieter with some tape and a layer of PE foam is surprising. I bet a clear silicone pour in the base would take it to the next level and make the RGB look better than stock to boot. 😊

Nice review , I never understand why not every brand make us easy to access the battery, Only brand I see easy to swap battery after 2 year is logitech G915 but it not hotswap and low profile, and Aula F98 that don't have to disassemble the whole keyboard just to access to battery

Thanks for this video. I've had the K656 for about six months, so I'm stuck with it unless I resell it, and I'm both a heavy gamer (MMOs mostly) and typist (writer). (Also, is it really that good for gamers if the key switches are listed as tactile? Or is tactile only not ideal for gaming if they're clicky?) It sucks that I didn't seek out this video until after I'd received the special tape I ordered to mod. Speaking of, I thought blue tape on a keyboard with a battery was a big no-no because it's flammable. The tape I ordered was recommended specifically for this purpose because it's made to reduce noise and heat in auto engines. It's kind of like electrical tape, only not goopy and thicker, more like fabric, and so with more noise dampening properties. Other videos I watched on the topic said to use electrical tape (the kind rated for flame resistance) in keyboards with batteries, and then I found this stuff, so it seemed like the perfect alternative.

What keycaps would look nice on that keyboard and would fit great?

yup, too bad. everything is exact what I want but I hate those clip on frames. I always break the clips and it leaves it weird and bulgy in places.

If I run it wired do I have to switch it to off?
