Cant seem to wrap my head around giving up my 2019 Tundra SR5 TRD for a new one. Brother in law works for Toyota and brought a brand new one by the house. Nice truck but 63K cdn for a plain SR5 is ridiculous to me
I was wondering when Toyota will have the blinker turn on the side camera??? I’ll blind on the right side and a camera on the blinker would be a big help.
Thanks for your videos. I have a 22 tundra platinum that left Texas heading to Oregon so i am loving your comments and you are helping me prep! Keep up the great work! Thanks Brian
How do you view all your cameras while the vehicle is in park? Everytime I hit the camera switch while in park it shows this weird rotating birdseye view. I have to put the truck in Drive or Reverse to get all the camera options to pop up. Am I missing something?
If you press that camera button while moving forward, it’ll flip on the front camera. I leave the auto off and just tap that when I’m pulling into a spot in drive.
Thanks, Tim! I'm enjoying these. I shared your videos with a good friend of mine that wants to buy the TRD Pro in March/April. These videos are informative 👍
Don't do it, this truck is absurdly cheap feeling, I just test drove it...even the dealership was unimpressed. It's small with poor fit and finish, and it feels like they used cheap quality materials. The truck is an absolute let down from top to bottom
Just so you know, the flickering you see when you record the LCD in the truck is because the refresh rate of the LCD is different from the recording camera. If you've seen older videos with old CRT monitors or TV's, it's actually worse because they had much slower refresh rates.
On my 24 Tundra, I installed a front steel grill pumper and my front camera is limited in its view angle down to the space between the two beefy steel barriers. Is there is a way to zoom in with the camera to look far beyond the steel pumper barriers?
Ye. I would say that's annoying for sure. I'd probably roll with it NOT in auto. Until i needed it while parking or off roading. Keep up the reviews. Awesome work.
Is there a way to keep the back camera on when auto is applied. I had it on for a couple days then idk what I did for it to go away. Now it’s stuck on the front camera when driving under 10mph
Watching your videos on the new Tundra, I am thinking of not picking up a new one yet-even though I have one ordered. Not sure I like the issues. Given that Toyota has treated you well, not sure I get that perk.
There is some logic behind the build, trust me, I own one. You have to remember Tim gets more views for complaining, or he just isn't on the same wavelength as the programmers. I do appreciate him putting this stuff up, because it has been helpful. I just don't have things "drive me up the wall" as easy as he does. So far it is an amazing truck. Like a big land cruiser with a bed on it.
Most of what Tim says is just part of the learning curve. Software bugs are typical for a new system like this but they can be fixed relatively easily through ota updates. The only annoying this was lack of heat in the steering wheel.
Are these the PVM cameras? Was this a separate option, or did these come as part of another package? I’m having trouble understanding which package(s) or trims include all these views vs just a standard reverse view.
Hi, what your thoughts for the new tundra such as small engine big body...will that engine last 300,000 miles with all that heavy towing...I know the new tundra is for look and speed but will it last as long as the 5.7 engine...?
Tim thank you for all your new Tundra info. I’m waiting on the platinum hybrid to replace my 2020. I have a question about the dash on the passenger side. I noticed in videos the lower trims seem to have a shelf above the glove box similar to the highlanders, it’s so useful. However it seems the higher trim tundras don’t have the shelf. Is there dual glove boxes on the higher trims or do you know why there isn’t a shelf like on the lower trims.
My buddy who is also in the market for purchasing the 22' Tundra, raves about the "panoramic" camera you see on the right of the split-screen below 10 mph moving forward, I have no idea what is the purpose for that as well?
Lots of situations where it could be helpful to see 360 degrees around the vehicle particularly when first starting the truck, but even when moving at slow speed. Pulling into or out of a parking spot to see lines or obstacles beside and vehicle in front (like somone leaving a shopping cart right by your passenger door that you didn't see when you go to pull out), when you pull into driveway and see tricycle or kid or dog that the oversized hoods block from view, offroad (though the offroad screen is better for that, in my opinion), etc. Though it stays on up to 10mph, it's really most useful when you first hop in and throw it in gear to back up or go forward. Backup camera shows what is already behind you, but if you cut the wheels sharp, the front of the truck will swing out and you may not have seen that item your kids left next to the pickups passenger door and so when the front swings out; crunch. No, it's not needed and we survived 100 years without surround cameras. Ha. But just one more safety thing that is available if the owner wants to turn it on to confirm surroundings are clear.
@tim Is there a cigar/cigarette lighter in the truck? I need one to run an accessory strobe light at work and can't seem to find any photos of any at all, just USB and a standard outlet.
Love the videos, huge fan. Here in Ontario, Canada, the winters are COLD, I was wondering if you had any temperature numbers. I really am concerned after seeing your review and weren’t impressed with the heated steering wheel and seats. Thanks and keep up the great videos. -Joe
I'm in NH where it's cold too. Heard some say the wheel isn't that warm, but it's warm enough for me. Maybe it's b/c I drive with my left hand on the top of the wheel adn it's heated pretty good up there. I must admit, I just got the truck and I haven't driven it yet below freezing temperatures.
I hope Toyota appreciates what you're doing for them. Would appreciate a front seat video & measurement. For comparison, my '18 SR5 seat bottom is 21" front to back.
Would you discuss and review the tailgate. It seemed to be a weak point in the 21 and earlier models. Would be good to hear if and how Toyota strengthened it and how much.
Thanks for the video. How is the resolution on both the cameras AND the screen compared to your Ford? Especially depth on things like rocks or ruts? Also does the bigger screen help at all with it?
So little info was available on the cameras before. I was told couldn't get birds eye view unless you get pvm but seems mtm also gives that view. Can you see if while looking at the cameras views it allows you to select the 360 view to enlarge it? Your video shows it smaller off to the right. Thanks and thanks for all the videos.
Yes, you can push on the 360 degree near a corner and it will zoom in on each corner. Then you can push on the screen and it will zoom out. Sorry I didn’t show it on camera.
I'm no rocket scientist, but one thing is quite obvious...you never had this much trouble with the Ford. Tech is only good if it is easy to use. I suspect this stuff is going to distract people while driving since is is so clunky.
Tim, I could see that very distracting. What if you had navigation turned on and you were going slow to find an address and it shuts off and goes to the camera? Lot of Bugs to be worked out I guess.....
More annoyances. It's a lot of money to not have things just right on launch. It will be interesting to see if anything comes up mechanically. I doubt they will but don't hold back the throttle. Give it the full beans consistently to see if anything comes up.
I would never have that auto on camera feature on. Only thing I want a camera for is backing up to my trailer. All this camera views are pretty pointless. Just a way they can charge more. More features the higher the price.
That infotainment system would drive me nuts! Remember the good old days, when you flipped a lever to go from RED/BLUE and then turned a knob for the fan speed? You could then toss out the factory radio, and pop in an aftermarket head unit for cheap. I'm honestly torn lately with the great advancements and driver aids, but increasing complexity of systems that aren't needed. Auto climate, good. Climate controls that are inside the touch screen, not ideal. Cameras, good. Cameras with 6 different views, unnecessary. Great sound, super! Cost of the upgraded sound locked into higher trim levels, eye roll... Some manufacturers are doing much better with this than others.
Why wouldn’t you want it active by default It’s distracting and annoying an if you need cameras to get started driving a car or truck I’m thinking it’s not the right vehicle for you. What will you do when your camera breaks or is covered in ice rendering it useless? Send the wife as a spotter to guide you in? I think pedestrian alert systems are fantastic but for general awareness eyes on the road not the screen as you are driving parking or whatever. I just rented a Mazda that did that drive off camera thing and every time it distracted me.
The SINGLE reason I can never bring myself to purchase a Tundra is that damn intrusive hump on the rear floor board. Seriously Tundra, it's 2022. Get rid of the damn hump. Users largely get the crew max because we have people to put back there. It's a family vehicle for many. Who likes the ergonomics of a giant hump when you already have to deal with riding in the middle seat? Tundra checks most of all the other boxes for me, but I'm not spending $60K for a giant rear seat hump in a 2022 vehicle still.
All these issues with the info system are software issues, code needs to be updated to fix them. I’m more interested in how the engine and transmission is good.
actually the camera module is not embedded to infotainment console , its a part of one unit but inside in the system 2 different devices , such as KMV device ( computer world ) , thats why its sucks ,Toyota uses Linux Auto and its not state of the art operating system as feature wise , simple way Toyota needs more investment in this .

No matter how hard you’re trying to sell this glorified Tacoma to us it’s a total Tundra failure by design. Too many gadgets no longevity anymore and you’ll be paying Toyota lots of $$$$ for all the breakdowns coming your way. Sad day for Tundra loyalists.
Love the channel and your reviews. But I test drove the 22 tundra last night and it's absolutely cheap feeling. Fit and finish were sub par, everything in the interior just felt extremely low quality. Seats sucked, hard with no bolstering ( Im 6'1 235lb ) It's looks really small and has a weak presence too it. Add in your complaints and this truck is a loser. Even the dealership couldn't really find anything positive to say about it. I think most people will be severely let down when they actually see the truck in person. Toyota just pushed me into the Ford F150 XLT Roush edition
That doesn't get old really fast in traffic? It would seem the camera would turn on and off at every red light or each time traffic slows down. I really enjoy a 360 in a parking lot, but not sure I'd want it every time I slow down. What's your opinion?
@@johndeaux9987 you can make it to where it doesn’t every time you slow down and there will be a way soon to have it on while driving fyi like some Honda’s people have there’s on the passenger side while they drive
what ive heard about Toyotas infotainment system is that it sucks and again cheap. They had 15 years to get it right and this truck completely sucks ..worst infotainment in a truck by far..lmao..

How can they bother u so much to continually post negative comments on the tundra? Well every generation has gotten “softer” than the one before it. Don’t think it’s inherently a bad thing unless you enjoy a hunter gatherer lifestyle void of all comforts or conveniences.
It's because these things are getting so freaking large. You could lose a low car in front of these things. Just think of children playing near the front or back. Stuff of nightmares!
Third party camera systems can be installed on older trucks and are Fantastic! Don’t be afraid to upgrade your truck yourself!
Would love to see how all those cameras look at night, along with the new LED headlights.
I like how you do what I would do with the truck. Shows the quirks and what to expect. Don't ever change your format of your videos!
I’m perfectly happy with my Ram tech and screen. Very simple and does the job needed.
Definitely A Huge Distraction!

Toyota just pushed me into the Ford F150 XLT Roush edition
i leave mine on auto
That doesn't get old really fast in traffic? It would seem the camera would turn on and off at every red light or each time traffic slows down. I really enjoy a 360 in a parking lot, but not sure I'd want it every time I slow down. What's your opinion?
@@johndeaux9987 you can make it to where it doesn’t every time you slow down and there will be a way soon to have it on while driving fyi like some Honda’s people have there’s on the passenger side while they drive
@@johndeaux9987 but personally I don’t mind it one bit
@@AliVapeReviews thanks...hopefully I'll have mine in the next week or two! Can't wait..
@@johndeaux9987 personally I’m waiting for the hybrid v6 twin turbo them I’m trading in this for that
what ive heard about Toyotas infotainment system is that it sucks and again cheap. They had 15 years to get it right and this truck completely sucks ..worst infotainment in a truck by far..lmao..
15 years??? this is a new system why do you keep says 15 years? I think its a learning curve more than anything. Most new things take time to get use too and understand everything.
@@Tintmaster775 15 years since a new truck..you get it now..lmao..this system is already out in Toyota cars and all I've heard are complaints and they put it in anyways. 🤣
@@RAM-KINGOFTRUCKS actually this isn't in any of the other Toyota's Tundra is first to use this infotainment system. So no 15 years, possibly 2 year when they started working on this total redesign.
@@RAM-KINGOFTRUCKS what do you mean by cheap?
Im going to go watch ram truck videos and write hate comments on them. Like u do.
Nothing but negative comments from u. The hate for one automaker is perplexing. Did they sleep with your wife? How can they bother u so much to continually post negative comments on the tundra? U must get a high off seeing a person who is also negative and is not knowledgeable on how the new technology works complain also.
Imagine owning a truck that you can't park without anxiety and the help of a camera. People these days are soft.
Liberals am I right ? lol
Well every generation has gotten “softer” than the one before it. Don’t think it’s inherently a bad thing unless you enjoy a hunter gatherer lifestyle void of all comforts or conveniences.
Don't you have a wife or wives?
It's because these things are getting so freaking large. You could lose a low car in front of these things. Just think of children playing near the front or back. Stuff of nightmares!
@@mingli9563 Good one 🤣🤣
First world problems😂😂
There is such a thing as too much tech.
First:)
why did you bought it anyway?i dont understand why americans buy these stupid big vehicles
The name of the channel might give it away ;)
Thanks for watching!
I don't understand how an idiot named George lonescu would watch a channel called Pickup Truck Plus SUV Talk🤷🏽♂️
Hey, who let George out from under the bridge!?!
