    Another great build...! I don't know why you took it this far, seeing how the gas operated version seemed to be working just fine.. But I am glad you did because the new version with electronic guts for lack of a better word at the moment, seems to have a more realistic float or skim across the water when fired as some torpedoes do...! Keep up with the great engineering ideas, and before long I can see you sinking scale warships in your local reenactment port of call... LoL...! Great Job....!

    you can add a reduction gearing in reverse(there are small dc motor gearboxes on ebay that culd fit the torp.) , the ruber band spins slower than the prop. thus it needs more torque on the input of the gearbox to spin the output.That should extend the time the prop spins, only down side would be winding it up will take some time

    so if you want the rubber powered one to run longer, you will need thinner bands, the one you have now has too much torque and a smaller band would have less. its the same for rubber powered planes.

    Very cool, I am working on some scale torpedoes at the moment. Judging by your video, I am overthinking a lot of things. I’m amazed you didn’t get the roll from the propeller thrust.

    How about using a steel spring. Something like the spring that fitted inside a measuring tape to retract its tape back into the case. Then water-tight is no longer a problem.

    Have you considered running your torpedo from the power source of capacitors. They may hold enough charge to run the motor for a short time, which is all that you need. They are easy to charge and do not need to be vented whilst charging them (which is fast) . I appreciate all of your videos. Thank you.

    • @RCSubGuy
      @RCSubGuy  4 роки тому

      Tried it. They work, but charging is a pain and you always run the danger of overcharging and having them explode.

    I just stumbled across your videos and enjoy the engineering aspect immensely. I was amazed at how straight and fast the torpedoes ran and wondered how they don't twist opposite the torque of the propeller. Is it the force of water pushing against the fins as they run that stops this?
    Great job-now you just need to design a warhead and detonator...just joking!
