    Very nice comparison video. Yamaha is getting closer by the years in producing silent acoustic guitar sounds (steel and nylon) that are close to full body sound. I believe they are the best in it now. Silent guitars are very good in terms of having an internal amp which is nice if you want to play quickly without additional cables. Having said that, the sound of a full body solid wood acoustic guitar is still ahead, and I wish the technology will catch up soon so we can save the trees and enjoy playing guitar music.

    I suggest that you also record the acoustic with an external microphone, like with a small diaphragm condenser mic. From what I hear is that SLG200S sounds better "electronically" but I think the acoustic will perform better with a real condenser mic.

    Great video, I have been considering the yamaha for quite sometime now. Mostly for silent practice but I think the yamaha sound just as good as the other guitars in the video. Right now Sweetwater just dropped the price to just over $500 which is a crazy good deal, they never seem to be discounted. That price and your video will cause me to go ahead and do it.... Thanks.

    I bought a Yamaha to be my first electric guitar and get Hum free sound on headphones. Amazing silence between songs, unlike a Fender Strat I borrowed or the so-called hum bucker set up on a Gibson Les Paul.

      Sounds good. Not sure what you mean about this being your first electric guitar. This is an acoustic guitar. It wilk sound like an acoustic guitar. From my experience plugging acoustic guitar to an electric guitar amp did not sound too great. But hope it will work for you

    Hi, great demo/comparison. Have my SLG 200 S ordered. I might have to look at removing the 'pick guard', wish Yamaha had made a nicer job of that at 600, would have cost them only a few cents.

    Feel like the first acoustic has little more low end soul but gives up that high end zing, the second acoustic the other way around having the sharper high notes but falling flat down low.
    To my ears the Yamaha seems to be the most rounded off 3, the highs and lows are still very very good, but it's not pushing the envelope in exchange for having very consistent and progressive sound. A fair path I'd say as this lends itself to clarity that helps highlight nuance, or for someone like me it doesn't forgive half missed notes to encourage you to play cleaner, (so long as you aren't using it's effects knob that is)
    Depending on the music (mainly the range needed) each guitar could do better & worse, song to song. As for practicing on general though the Yamaha seems to be the best tool to use as it seems to do without any feedback loops, & in mixed mode the high & low clarity seem phenomenal, hence why I went an' bought one of these Yamahas albeit a nylon one.

    • @GregMichael
      @GregMichael  4 роки тому +2

      If you want to plug it in to your computer for recording you need an audio interface to change the analog signal to digital. If you just want to plug it into a computer to jam to the backing track, you just need to plug the computer to the line input of the guitar and use headphones plugged in to the guitar. You can control the volume of the track coming into your guitar. Hope that helps?

    • @GregMichael
      @GregMichael  2 роки тому +1

      The microphone in acoustic guitars is to add more natural tone that the piezo pickups lack of. The built in microphone on it's own sounds a bit rubbish so it's quite nice to combine the two. Hope that helps?

      @@GregMichael yes thank you :) looked on your channel, rly interesting content - sub from me ^^
      but p.s. I was researching about this guitar last days and now I'm shortly before buying it, but I have so many questions now... Maybe could you help me with that? will very appreciate it.
      I have some good accoustic devices at home like RME babyface pro fs interface with instrumental input, good mic, edifier s2000pro head speakers and Sennheiser HD 660S headphoes. but in guitar world or overall music production I'm completely zero.
      1) Is my gear ok for reproducing clear sound of accoustic guitar with yamaha s200?
      2) Do I need just to connect the guitrar into my interface and I will be able to hear it from headphones/speakers?
      3) As I previously told - I'm totaly beginner. ATM I have the yamaha FG 800M, which is 3 years old, I didnt play it, but wanted to start everytime... yeah maybe you know that people like me - "starting tomorrow" :D
      The biggest problem at this moment is that I live in very old house with tiny walls and my passion to play always comes at the night. So this guitar is only one option for my "quick" progression. The second issue is that my actual guitar seems to not playing well compared to everything what I hear. Maybe strings are too old or something else is broken, cant analyze it without experience, but I already showed it to my friend via voice and he had the same opinion.
      So all in one, yamaha S200s seems from my side as really good solution, but....
      - Will I be able to learn the guitar same, as normal accoustic guitar? I mean all failtures, which I could do with normal guitar like, "bad clutches with wrong output voice or wrong chords position/pressing force". Will I be able to hear all the trash, which I do by learning same as normal accoustic guitar?
      - And what is your opinion about switching between s200 and normal guitar? Will I have troubles with sense of sound or something else?
      sorry for such long question, but its not a cheap purchase for beginner like me. So I'm trying to get more information about it :)
