Just scored a used classical version for 300 smackeroos. It feels better than my other classicals in playability, and ya, more portable than any other classical.
I originally bought the older SLG110 a decade ago. Loved it. Now have SLG200 steel string AND nylon. Main reason? Convenience. They can do everything, and the onboard tuner and effects are great. The design is so lightweight and comfortable, that everything else starts to feel really heavy and cumbersome. The 200 has been around for about 7-8 years now, so I’d be expecting an upgraded version soon? One upgrade that would make it a show stopper would be the addition of at least one electric guitar pickup, wired through the onboard preamp? If that signal could also be blended to the under saddle pickup already installed, it would truly be an almost unbeatable guitar for practice and even stage performance. YAMAHA, PLEASE ADD A MINI HUMBUCKER OR TWO!!!!😎
I’ve got the nylon-string version - it’s an amazingly good practice instrument. If it had Bluetooth it would be just perfect, but plugging in a Bluetooth adapter works almost as well.
These do seem to solve a lot of problems. One thing you didn't say was the upper fret access is way better than any traditional acoustic and better than some electric solid bodies. I'd be really interested in comparing the SRT emulation of a "high end" Yamaha vs the real thing.
Me too, but as far as i understand SRT is just an impulse response. These are avaliable in the internet, some are free and used to make other piezo guitars sound more like mic-ed. There's also pedals with this effect. So if you have piezo you can try!
They sound and look really nice, I played one years ago and they were a different shape but still very nice playing the classical guitar is particularly nice its hard to find a good classical guitar at that price, and the piezzo modeling is a great feature guitar has bass for days.
I love mine, the sound through headphones is astonishingly good, and I sometimes put electric strings on it to play through a practice amp and it does great for that too.
Would I be doing it any harm if I put phosphor bronze light on it? Looking for a more robust steely sound although I know this is obviously meant as a ny,on and there are steel versions of the guitar as well.
@@zakkmylde1712 No, it's not a 'need' thing, I just use it as a means to practice electric guitar, because you can't do that on an acoustic. It's only if you don't have an electric guitar and feel like trying playing lead solos.
@@Doowopsid Not sure if putting steel strings on the nylon version would affect the neck like you'd expect it would on a real nylon string guitar. I would assume the neck and body would be much more robust, but maybe send Yamaha an email?
@@Doowopsid I'd advise using one of thomastik infeld's sets that are for steels on a classical guitar, like the rope core set for instance. They sound and feel great, but are more appropriate tension wise for classical guitars or older instruments
My main acoustic is a silent acoustic. Less/no bleed into the vocal mic, and plugged in it actually sounds like an acoustic, not a buzzy piezo. I just wish I could get a high end one made in Japan instead of China, I do NOT support China and I’m not shy about that. But I already had this from a music store that closed and it was one of the last things they had to move. I got it new for 250… So I don’t regret it. I would like to buy one higher end, and they need to update it for 2021.
I've tried this guitar and other silent guitars. None sound like an acoustic nylon guitar. They all sound like nylons amplified (so far). With some settings, it can sound close to steel string but not classicals.
@@rebecca4522 I dont have a nylon string I cant help with that. It should be a model of an actual nylon. I know the steel string I never use the piezo out to anything.
Hi, I have the SLG100N. Would I be doing any damage to it if I replaced the nylon strings with light phosphor bronze strings? I am looking for a more robust bright sound but want to keep this guitar. Thanks!
Just by one excellent but you must in metalic strings lower thé action and ajust truss road for extra Light gauge.very Light guitar with his gig bag i have cmt deasese.
Is there a an eletric guitar version of this (narrower fretboard, action, etc)? Maybe even distortion, overdrive, amp modeling instead of electroaccoustic modeling.
@@penguindrum264 probably, I tried it with my keyboard years ago and the latency was terrible. Completely unusable. Might be why they only offer a plug in jack for it.

Hi. Are you experiencing a treble hiss when playing through an acoustic amp? This is what I'm experiencing through my Acus amp, even with the volume off. I don't know what to do about it, apart from changing the guitar.

Reason no. 6: no soundhole to lose your pick in.

I gig with one of these. Absolutely amazing they are. Sounds massive on stage.

How quite is it? I live in a small apartment with paper thin walls.
don't you get latency issues using bluetooth?
You can plug in a Bluetooth adapter?

If you double tap and hold the tuner button for a few seconds you can adjust the frequency.. pretty cool hidden ft
Waw the design and the sound are just amazing
great video. The wife wants to get me one for Christmas so I am looking for the best price as I have seen many at different prices.
I like the corduroy.
I have the violin version and have pondered these as well. Maybe I will have to give one a go.
Sounds great!!!
Moar Meg! Good Review. Best Regards!
I stay in town and I cannot play acoustic guitar loudly nearby peoples are getting disturbed So im looking for silent guitar

Can we do transpose on these guitar?
May I know how to change strings in SLG 200S?
There is a Chinese brand called aria model 101 silent guitar that is one-third of the price of the yamaha. What do you think about that one ??
I was looking at this but bought the Snap Dragon SnapAxe A and a Nux Mighty Plug. Essentially this but folds in half and £200 cheaper.
I preferred silent guitar than acoustic
what was that melody at 5:25??
Let Yamaha know that Bluetooth for wireless headphones would be a great enhancement. I would be more interested.
but you can buy an adapter an connect to your wireless headphones.
Won't there be a latency issue?
@@penguindrum264 probably, I tried it with my keyboard years ago and the latency was terrible. Completely unusable. Might be why they only offer a plug in jack for it.
The latency would be horrible and Bluetooth codecs degrade the sound
Is it silent though. So many videos skip this obvious point
The back is plastic?
What tuning you using here?

I can hear mine they scammed me I thiught it was silent
At least it's not a like a silent violin. Mine is still too loud for late night practice.
So, these are essentially electric guitars.
It does too much noise through amp

I wonder how much (or how little) it is effected by temperature.
That rattle is ridiculous - Either you were not making an effort or the guitars actions is terrible at the moment.
