It's wild realizing how ahead of it's time Scream 3 and 4 were with technology. We now have AI mimicking voices and everyone is filming horrific events more than ever before.
I find Scream 3 the most rewatchable - and I actually think the more limited time for Sidney works given that she's a recluse. The low points (house explosion sequence, Jay and Silent Bob) are negated by some inspired choices (Carrie Fisher's cameo, and Parker Posey as Gail) - plus, some great lines: "he waa making a movie called "Stab"; he was stabbed".
@@MadBloodMatt I do prefer the OG intro and ending but I much prefer the 2nd one in everything else. It’s Dewey and Gales best film and their relationship was peak. Sidney was arguably at her best to having the trauma from the first but also showing more the badass Sidney we’ve come to love. The best chases in the franchise too. I felt the middle portion was paced a lot better as well as the controversial death I didn’t mind because his character would’ve eventually ended over staying his welcome so I’m glad they had the balls to do it!
Scream 4 is CRIMINALLY underrated, wow. And I couldn't agree more about scream 6 lacking stakes. Could easily be the best movie in the franchise outside of the OG imo
Agree about Dewey’s death. They really made an armed Dewey walk up to Ghostface in melee range in order to die. He couldn’t stay back two feet and shoot Ghostface in the head? He’s done this 4x already??
@@KingsNerdCave I think there’s possibility for their to be 3 killers in not just 5 but also 4. In 5 I would say the 3rd would be Stu. And in 4 I’ve always thought that Judy Hicks was helping Jill. How else do you explain Jill going away with Kirby and Culkin going with Robbie? Who offed the cops, who attacked her mom. By then Kirby had already picked up Jill. And Culkin was with Robbie driving to Kirby’s house. Both the attackers were with people who didn’t know the truth. But Judy was so close that moments after Sidney’s aunt dies she IS THERE. Jill shooting Judy in the vest. And also Judy was the only cop there at the end. And one more thing was Jill still thought she was going to be able to get away with killing S,D,&G. HOW? Unless she had a police officer there to back her entire story!
@@KingsNerdCave It's not dumb at all. He already missed at a distance. He wanted to make sure he hit his target. The only reason Dewey didn't succeed is because Gale called him at that exact moment.
@@MadBloodMattIt's honestly my favorite death of the whole franchise. I genuinely don't get the hate. I thought the build up was great and he died a hero.
Rotten tomatoes is correct in this instance. Scream 2 does what Scream does in a much more sophisticated and believable way. It DOES askew many of the conventions of slasher horror films including the first scream, for subverting the finale for example. Unlike in the first film, scream 2 doesn’t end in a 3rd Act party where the remaining characters are all together in one place. Unlike in other slasher series, the two main final girls are on separate character arcs that have nothing to do with each other, but rely on both characters overcoming something that holds their characters back. Unlike in the first film (despite the shock of there being two killers) the killers in 2 are shocking and have arguably the strongest motives of any of the killers in this franchise, or any other. It’s biggest strength though that I would argue is missing from 3-6 is the “Slice of Life“ quality this movie has that the others don’t. It feels like a real school, a real town, real people. The characters are seen doing things, eating, going to class, having conversations that exist outside of the killings. They react when people they know are killed. Though there is a party that takes place towards the end sort of, it’s cut relatively short and none of the main characters besides Derek is there, and it was specifically because Derek gave Sidney his Letters. For a 2 hour slasher movie, I know more about these characters, their lives and who they are more so than in any other sequel, while still having all of the elements of Scream and then some.
The more I watch 5 and 6 the more frustrated I become that Radio Silence chose to kill a legacy character to raise the stakes only to make their own characters invincible.
Even with Scream 3 being so goofy, I still enjoy the original trilogy story more than the later films. Mostly because the first 2 films are the best written and still have the best reveals. Scream Scream 2 Scream 6 Scream 3 Scream 4 Scream 5

In Scream 3 Roman says he setup the Maureen offing! Then he says they decided to make their own little movie aka the 1 year later original Ghostface attacks. Because the mom was just regular attacked, no costumes. So they still did their own thing…we got a whole movie about it. But Roman did make the original kill setup for them to follow it through.
1) OG, genre shifting classic 2) Scream 4, Born in 2000 this was my first Scream and Jill/Kirby on screen with the main 3, goated… 3) Scream 6, i loved the new cast (😞) and New York was peak !!
Scream has got to be one of the only few franchises that has had not only the final girl come back often but also survive the longest. Not sure if she dies in 5 or 6 as I have yet to see them yet, but it's something I noticed and I liked the idea :)

S1- the intro, the reveal, the kills were awesome, my favorite scene was Tatum's doggy door death besides the intro of course. S2 - almost surpassed the original, the intro was great and different, i liked that Mrs.Loomis was one of the reveals and Cici's death was my favorite along with intro as well. S3- i liked the killer reveal along with the setting with the actors also being the victims- favorite death Sarah Darling but i wish the chase scene was longer- also Parker Posey was great as Gale. S6-i hated the reveal but i loved the NYC Atmosphere and the ladder scene, the subway scene were my favorites. Also enjoyed the Halloween timing, and Kirby was more likeable for me this time around. Gale chase scene was overdue. S5- the intro with the failed killing was a nice twist, but i was annoyed they were back at Stus house. The reveals were fine i really liked Amber as a killer but i dont find it believable she really took down Dewey. Favorite kills were Judy and Wes. I almost put 5 before 6 but i just really got annoyed that the ending was again at Stu's house which was supposed to be some kind of shock- but i thought everyone knew the whole time. S4- hated the intro, and reveal. Jill was kinda cringe but my favorite deaths were Rebecca and Olivia. Kirby annoyed me as well as most of the cast like no other scream film has done before.
Scream 2 being first is insane, I view scream 2 as being pretty mid. And it’s crazy how underrated scream 4 is, top five best horror movies of all time in my opinion.
Love your videos. Found ya out of nowhere and just dove in. Smart idea with the rotten tomatoes aspect. Would be wicked to see the evil dead mix on how you think of em compared to tomatoes. 😊
Personally I think scream 2 is second worst in the franchise, only above scream 3, I really like scream 4 partly because it was filmed in my home town and I would run by some sets in highschool with scream 5 and 6 being up there with nearly as good as the original
It always makes me laugh, that people think "Billy was brain" between Billy and Stu, even if STU, NOT BILLY keep eye at all reality details. In fact, Stu did more killing is one thing, but he came out with framing Neil idea, constantly manipulated Randy and Tatum, plus whole school to be his alibi and do what he wanted. He even made Sid, who seen Randy attacked, DOUBT HIM. Billy couldn't make one person, Sid, stop having doubts, even if she already was cooked. Stu prepared whole third act, planned party, kept Neil, their hostage. Found excuse to bail Billy out. Casey was Stu's revenge, so his idea, too. He even got dolls at his attic, showing how he planned it. Stu always got alibi, when something happened. Like with Casey&Steve slaughter, Billy and Stu went for alibi to their chicks. And only ONE stayed. 🤷🏻♀️ Sorry. Billy being named BRAINS in duo is always laughable. It was promoted as such, but if You only look at DETAILS... Who did more thinking is obvious. 😂✌️ Billy didn't tell Stu, WHY he wanted to kill. But for Macher it was game. He didn't cared much for Billy motive, but just didn't liked, he was not told this small detail. Yet, for THINKING... Stu comes out as much goofier... Yet, it is HIM who keep eye at details, hostage and put 'pawns' in proper places. 🤷🏻♀️ In fact, again. Roman is 3rd movie made up, but in 96' it was Billy who THOUGHT he is in charge. Yet, all thinking, place setting and such? STU'S WORK. ✌️
THANK YOU 👏 I completely agree with you about Dewey’s death. Too easy, too goofy, almost like all of his other “deaths” were. This should’ve been a very serious moment of sacrifice or something along those lines. Not him getting a phone call and choosing to pick it up while still, essentially, mid-fight with a Ghostface. I could pick apart that scene for hours though. Big kudos to you for seeing things the same.
My ranking 1. Scream 2. Scream 6 3. Scream 5 4. Scream 4 5. Scream 3 6. Scream 2 I know scream 2 is objectively better than 3 but this list is basically how much i would want to rewatch these movies and i always find that i want to watch 2 the least. I also find that 6 is just really fun the characters are great and they really made ghostface scary the only thing i dont like about the movie is that the ghostface reveal is a little disappointing
Almost the same list! 1. Scream. 2. Scream VI. 3. Scream (2022) 4. Scream 2. 5. Scream 4. 6. Scream 3. I'm glad to see Scream 5 & 6 getting some love... Radio Silence brought some of the best stuff into the franchise.
Yeah, can't put my finger on it, but 2 is my least rewatchable one, though I recognize so much quality. I think I hate the Derrick stuff, both his efforts and false accusations, it's too hard on the red haring but didn't ever trick me, so he's just weird and try hard to me, not recognizing the trauma and space Sydney needs.
@@just_a_normal_movie_bro990 My ranking is exactly the same as yours, and I too would sooner re-watch 3 than 2. I just didn't enjoy it very much overall. The song and dance scene made me cringe.
i'd say for me it goes 1, 4, 2, 6, 5, and 3, with 1 being 4 being interchangeable as my favorites. but i haven't seen all of them more than once, just the first 3 and like 85% of 4. I def need to do a rewatch of them all within the next month or two.
i enjoy them all to varying degrees, but for me it'd be: 6. Scream 3 (2000) 5. Scream 2 (1997) 4. Scream V (2022) 3. Scream VI (2023) 2. Scream 4 (2011) 1. Scream (1996)
Having Scream 4 below 5 & 6 is a tratesy!! For me with Scream there are 3 good ones and 3 disappointing ones. So while I probably put Scream 5 at 4th in the ranking (1 place below 4) there is gulf between them. Where Scream 6 is definitely the worst of the franchise for me. I say disappointing because even the worst Scream films are pretty solid horror films. I would put Scream 1 top of course. But I would say Scream 2 is much closer to Scream 1 than Scream 5 is to Scream 4.
1) Scream (1996) 2) Scream 4 3) Scream 2 4) Scream (2022) 5) Scream 3 (I can appreciate that they toned down the violence due to what was going on in the United States at that time, but cutting out the return of Stu was a gigantic missed opportunity) 6) Scream 6 (The scene near the end where they are about to collide and yell at each other is ridiculous and I love Chad but he was stabbed by TWO ghostfaces and still survived. The New York setting was great though and of course, what lowers the film for me is the fact that it's the last time we'll see the Core Four unexpectedly due to dumb reasons.)
Yeah, Scream 2 being first is a bit surprising considering the absolute pedestal the original is put on, but I'm good with it. It's a genuinely serviceable sequel that does everything well that a sequel should do, and there was no way they were going to outdo the twist of the original, so I'm never really letdown by the ending. It's also still the only opening without a phone call (not counting the Stab footage), which adds to its freshness IMO.
Imo what saves Scream 3 is Neve Campbell and Scott Foley. Those two save it. The two best scenes in the movie are, Sidney in the Woodsboro Hollywood Set, and The Final Act between Sidney and Roman. Those two scenes save the movie, and imo those two scenes are some of the very best scenes in the franchise. That’s why I rank Scream 3 higher than 4,5 and 6. Because of those 2 amazing scenes.
Scream 6 would have been epic if they just followed the first killer the whole time. Scream 4 would have been epic if they ended it before the hospital scene and let Jill win. Scream 3… well, they should have went with The Following storyline.
@@MadBloodMatt For me the weakest part of the movie was the killers, I didn't like them at all, but the rest of the movie I enjoyed. Yes, I'll definitely see Scream 7 when it comes out.
S2 has the best score. Best character development. The best chase scenes. The best acting. S5 and S6 has the worst characters. I used to think that belonged to S3, but nope. I’d much rather watch S3 before I watch the latest crap. S4 should have been top 3, but the score was bad, the characters were bland and stupid, Kirby is overrated (other than her epic call scene…but then they ruined it by making her think she beat ghostface at his game…so stupid…she was supposed to be a major stab fan but then she thinks she won the game. Ugh). The worst intro. Fun motive, but not a good ending. The chase scenes were boring too and almost non-existent. Could have been so much better.
I enjoy these video’s. Not sure if this is a hot take but I would have Scream 2 second from bottom. Just above 3. After falling in love with the first I was so disappointed with scream 2. I hate the opening. Love Micky tho. Maybe not second from bottom. But definitely bottom half for me
Scream 3 isn’t as bad as people say it is. Scream 3 was affected by the shooting in columbine so they toned down the violence. Roman was the best ghostface imo
Definitely agree with Scream 5 getting worse the more times you watch it. I loved it the first time then I watched it again like a year later and I picked up on so many of the nostalgia bait type moments. Sidney and Gale are there for no real reason. Dewey kill is hard to make sense of. I do like the killers reveal and motives. They’re perfectly insane.
The Scream franchise are my favorite movies of all time. I enjoy them all equally. So I don't really have a ranking. There are things about each one that I love over the others. I get that they aren't for everyone, but, to me, it's the most consistent franchise. Not a single bad film.

@@MadBloodMatt I'm sure you have your own plans content wise for your channel but I'd love to see you tackle individual films in this "Tomatoes" format. I think for the most part Rotten Tomatoes got it right. I’d probably rearrange a bit. 1. Scream 2- The most well written out of the franchise. The plot that feels meticulously crafted, and it does a tremendous job of balancing the horror and comedy elements. It solidified Scream as a franchise. 2. Scream- Laid the framework. Best opening scene and refined the slasher genre. 3. Scream 4- Subverted my expectations. It had the best killer reveal. 4. Scream 6- The most fun to watch 5. Scream 3- A great end to Sydney Prescott’s original intended trilogy with cultural themes that were ahead of our time. 6. Scream 5- Enjoyable but felt kind of like a cash grab. Also the way they killed Dewey felt absolutely disrespectful. Which seems to be a reoccurring theme in cinema as of lately (a la- Han Solo, John Connor, James Bond) to name a few. Just felt kind of tasteless. This is my personal arrangement.
People like to use the excuse of Dewey surviving 4 films but they don’t realise how aggressive Scream 6 is with the killer and how they set up their scenes. Six could’ve been so much better.
I know this may be extreme but the smudgy filter they used on scream 4 is why I never feel the need to watch it again. It looks so ugly. It’s like an early Instagram filter.
Scream is my all time favorite horror franchise yes while the first is the best one. i have to say i don’t necessarily have a favorite honestly. They’re all great in my opinion!
Roman is beloved online Scream 3 as movie might not be as popular as 1 and 2, but as ghostface roman was best and even has a group dedicated to him online.
Scream 3 was supposed to be the most brutal of the trilogy until I believe it was a mass killing and they had to make the film have some comedic relief - which made the film very goofy and rushed. And I believe they were doing rewrites while in production.
my personal ranking is 6. scream 3 5. scream 5 4. scream 6 3. scream 2/4 2. scream 4/2 1. scream 1 i say 2/4 and 4/2 bc those 2 always switch on which my second favorite it is daily lmao
I rated Scream 4 last, 3 second last and 2 as the best cuz Sidney is the best and more confident and bad ass but I don't hate this tbh cuz it's similar to what I would rate it.

My rankings
Scream
Scream 4
Scream 2
Scream 6
Scream 3
Scream 5
Scream 4 should be way up on th4 list
I love the fan edit verison with the delted scenes. Definitely in my top 3 scream movi3 ranking
Thanks Sara! I would love to cover the Evil Dead franchise. That will definitely happen someday :)
Sorry. Billy being named BRAINS in duo is always laughable. It was promoted as such, but if You only look at DETAILS... Who did more thinking is obvious. 😂✌️
Billy didn't tell Stu, WHY he wanted to kill. But for Macher it was game. He didn't cared much for Billy motive, but just didn't liked, he was not told this small detail.
Yet, for THINKING... Stu comes out as much goofier... Yet, it is HIM who keep eye at details, hostage and put 'pawns' in proper places. 🤷🏻♀️
In fact, again.
Can we just talk about Kerby's HAIR in Scream 4......... that is all ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
1- scream 2
2-scream
3-scream 3
4-scream 6(except the ending)
5-scream 4
6-scream 5
The 2nd is probably my least favorite. 4 is my fave other than the 1st. But none are bad, definitely one of my fave horror franchises
Rank the phantasm series
Please rank the hellraiser franchise all movies.that is going to be so funny
Maybe you could rank the posters too!
For me scream 3 was way ahead of its time really underrated for me enjoyed it much more than 6 and maybe even 5
My ranking
1. Scream
2. Scream 6
3. Scream 5
4. Scream 4
5. Scream 3
6. Scream 2
I know scream 2 is objectively better than 3 but this list is basically how much i would want to rewatch these movies and i always find that i want to watch 2 the least. I also find that 6 is just really fun the characters are great and they really made ghostface scary the only thing i dont like about the movie is that the ghostface reveal is a little disappointing
Almost the same list!
1. Scream.
2. Scream VI.
3. Scream (2022)
4. Scream 2.
5. Scream 4.
6. Scream 3.
I'm glad to see Scream 5 & 6 getting some love... Radio Silence brought some of the best stuff into the franchise.
@TheTombRaider yeah it sucks to see that they won't be working on scream 7 actually the whole situation around scream 7 is extremely sad to see
Yeah, can't put my finger on it, but 2 is my least rewatchable one, though I recognize so much quality.
1. Scream - 2. Scream 2- 3. Scream 5 - 4. Scream 6- 5. Scream 3- 6. Scream 4
i'd say for me it goes 1, 4, 2, 6, 5, and 3, with 1 being 4 being interchangeable as my favorites. but i haven't seen all of them more than once, just the first 3 and like 85% of 4. I def need to do a rewatch of them all within the next month or two.
Do it!
i enjoy them all to varying degrees, but for me it'd be:
6. Scream 3 (2000)
5. Scream 2 (1997)
4. Scream V (2022)
3. Scream VI (2023)
2. Scream 4 (2011)
#1) Scream
#2) Scream 4 ...it's so fun to watch - I rewatch this one the most
#3) Scream 2
#4) Scream 6
#5) Scream 3
#6) Scream 5
Scream 4 has a ton of rewatchability for me too.
I loved your take on Halloween II (1981) on the Halloween video.
Scream 3 is ranked wayy too low for me-
Rotten tomatoes is wrong most of the time
Subscribed almost purely because you said “hang on to your butts.” 🤣
😂 welcome to the mad house
The video I’ve been WAITING FORRRRR
1) Scream (1996)
2) Scream 4
3) Scream 2
4) Scream (2022)
5) Scream 3 (I can appreciate that they toned down the violence due to what was going on in the United States at that time, but cutting out the return of Stu was a gigantic missed opportunity)
6) Scream 6 (The scene near the end where they are about to collide and yell at each other is ridiculous and I love Chad but he was stabbed by TWO ghostfaces and still survived.
I can't complain with the critics, 2,1,6 are my top 3 in that order.
The ending to 6 didnt hurt the movie for you? Are you excited for 7?
@@MadBloodMatt For me the weakest part of the movie was the killers, I didn't like them at all, but the rest of the movie I enjoyed. Yes, I'll definitely see Scream 7 when it comes out.
My ranking: S2; S1; S3; S4; S6; S5
But definitely bottom half for me
It’s quite rare for a sequel to be #1, but I agree with it. That intro was too shocking and iconic. I hated that Randy got axed off 😢
Scream 4 is my favorite personally.
Scream 4 is a damn good time. Fun new characters, solid reveal, unique ending.
Scream 2 is a tie with scream now
Scream 3 isn’t as bad as people say it is. Scream 3 was affected by the shooting in columbine so they toned down the violence. Roman was the best ghostface imo
@@daredevilmurdock7490 in my opinion its even worse.
@@daredevilmurdock7490 I like the voice changer concept for that movie. It’s just weird how no one else has done it again in any of the newer films.
I like Scream 3 more than I do Scream 2. Scream 3 having only 1 killer made it unique to me💯🔪🩸👻
I honestly think they should be ranked in the order they came out. Maybe the newer ones will get better over time though?!
LETSSS GOOO ANOTHER ONEE!!
Worst to best:
3, 6, 2, 4, 5, 1
If she got away with it in scream 4 and Sydney was gone I think it would of opened up more possibilities
I couldn't agree with someone's ranking. We should do a marathon together sir haha
I really am enjoying this channel. I have definitely been disagreeing with Both your rankings and thise on rotten tomatoes a bit, but im loving you discussion on why you have the films in these franchises where you do. Its made for some fun listening at work.
Thank you! I’m glad I can help pass the time at work a bit. Glad to have you in the community.
@@MadBloodMatt I drove my Jeep up to the mountains for a camping and trail riding weekend and I listened to the Rotten Tomatoes rankings during the trip up and back and it's always surprised me that they dont even attempt to represent the interests of horror creators or viewers. Such a disservice to the communities. I do look at the site but more for the entertainment of seeing snobs and fans giving such wildly different views. It's rarely been a good meter for the genre.
@@MadBloodMatt I'm sure you have your own plans content wise for your channel but I'd love to see you tackle individual films in this "Tomatoes" format. I know you could easily do an hour on your views of individual films and more positive and negative tomatoes reviews.
I'm a huge Creature Feature fan so I'd love to see other subgenres too. Tremors. Would be fun to see.
Tomatoes reviews on original films compared to remake films would be really great. I'm a huge fan of most remakes.
@@tbw_tsa7309 These are some great ideas. I need to hire you as a content advisor haha.
I definitely plan on venturing into other areas like Tremors, Jurassic Park and even some more action stuff like the Terminator franchise.
@@tbw_tsa7309 I hope it was a good trip!
4. Scream 6- The most fun to watch
Thanks for sharing it. Always good to see some love for scream 4.
People like to use the excuse of Dewey surviving 4 films but they don’t realise how aggressive Scream 6 is with the killer and how they set up their scenes. Six could’ve been so much better.
I didn’t think Dewy is dead! I tried to zoom in on his toe tag, it’s blurry, but I still don’t think it has his name on it.
Ohh I kinda like this conspiracy theory. You got me thinking now 🤔 🤔
Scream ‘96
SCRE4M
Scream 2
Scream VI
Scream ‘22
Scream 3
I know this may be extreme but the smudgy filter they used on scream 4 is why I never feel the need to watch it again. It looks so ugly. It’s like an early Instagram filter.
Fortunately you can hardly see it during most of the movie.
Scream is my all time favorite horror franchise yes while the first is the best one. i have to say i don’t necessarily have a favorite honestly. They’re all great in my opinion!
For me, the only constants in my ranking are original at 1 and 3 last.
The middle 4 swap around each year. Right now I’d go 4, 5, 6, 2.
Thanks for sharing your list.
The one that moves around the most for me is 4. On some days it’s #2 and other days it’s #5 🤷♂️
man you really beat scream 3 to death.
I’d rank :
Scream
Scream 4
Scream 2
Scream 5
Scream 3
Scream 6
Always cool seeing some love for 4
Exact same as my list
Scream 3 is my fave. 4 is the worst
The first Scream is miles ahead of the rest.
The tone and atmosphere has never been this great after it.
Roman is beloved online
Scream 3 as movie might not be as popular as 1 and 2, but as ghostface roman was best and even has a group dedicated to him online.
scream 1 and 4 are the two best and in the same league imo.
Scream 3 was supposed to be the most brutal of the trilogy until I believe it was a mass killing and they had to make the film have some comedic relief - which made the film very goofy and rushed. And I believe they were doing rewrites while in production.
my personal ranking is
6. scream 3
5. scream 5
4. scream 6
3. scream 2/4
2. scream 4/2
1. scream 1
i say 2/4 and 4/2 bc those 2 always switch on which my second favorite it is daily lmao
Solid list 🔪
Scream 3 is at that point of being hated where it's almost underrated. It's not my favourite Scream movie by any means but it's not the worst imo.
I rated Scream 4 last, 3 second last and 2 as the best cuz Sidney is the best and more confident and bad ass but I don't hate this tbh cuz it's similar to what I would rate it.
Worst to best in my opinion
Scream 3
Scream 2
Scream 6
Scream 4
Scream 5
Scream
I just hate scream 2’s ending but scream has never made a bad movie x
What did you hate? I thought the ending was action-packed and bloody well acted.
