NAPLES, ITALY - Today we’re traveling outside of Naples to eat at 2 pizzeria’s; one that’s rated as the #1 best pizza in the entire world, and two where you’ll find one of the world’s best and most innovative pizza chefs. Let’s go try them both!
Friends in the video:
- Edoardo Celadon (@MostOfItaly www.mostofitaly.com/) - Edoardo can arrange you the best and most authentic food experiences throughout Italy!

I Masanielli di Francesco Martucci (maps.app.goo.gl/B5sBsdxXq93dU...) - For the first restaurant we’re in Caserta, Italy, just 30 minutes outside Naples. And this restaurant was rated on the official world pizza list, by pizza experts around the world, as the best pizza in the world. Chef and owner Francesco Martucci was so kind to us and even prepared pizza himself for use - as well as some of his new and exciting pizzas. It was indeed pizza unlike any I’ve ever had - the crust was so bubbly and so airy, like an inner tube.
Mozzarella factory - To continue this pizza tour we drove further into the mountains just 30 minutes towards Pepe in Grani. But before arriving, we stopped at a mozzarella factory. To make the best pizza in the world, you need the best ingredients, so Chef Franco Pepe sources local ingredients and the best of the best. It was a great opportunity to learn about fresh buffalo mozzarella.
Pepe In Grani (maps.app.goo.gl/PM3GHbcdYZ3YE...) - We finally arrived to Caiazzo, Italy, home to Pepe in Grani, one of the most famous pizzerias in the world, and featured on Netflix Chef’s Table. Chef and owner Franco Pepe is one of the best pizza chef’s in the world, and is not afraid to break traditional pizza rules. He’s inspired endless pizzerias around the world. His restaurant serves over 1000 pizzas a night, but we went to his special 8 seater chef’s table pizzeria - considered the smallest pizzeria in the world. He cooked for us his full pizza course and it was without a doubt some of the best pizza and ingredients I’ve ever had in my life. For this private pizza experience, it cost 200 Euros per person, but it was a once in a lifetime pizza experience.
Both pizzerias are two of the best in the entire world and it was an honor to try them both!

It’s been about 15 years and I still remember having the best food of my life in Italy and I felt so connected to my family who lived in Napoli before coming to America. Definitely left a piece of me there and must go back someday it was so nice to see parts of Italy again even if on a tv screen.
Go home, you will be happier.
I hope you make it back darling
Napolitan roots are very important. Be Proud and come back fore more. 💙
If i go back to Italy, im staying. It felt like home. Meeting great aunts still alive, plus seeing the many relatives' graves, was eye-opening. The food captured my heart, the country kept it.
Thank you for visiting the maestro himself, Franco Pepe. To everyone reading this, no matter where you live. A trip to Caiazzo just for Pepe in Grani is absolutely worth it!
Concerning food, culture, architecture and landscape for me personally Italy is the greatest country in the world. Grüße aus Deutschland an meine italienischen Brüder und Schwestern 🇩🇪❤🇮🇹
I love that real Italian pizza is not just a pile of cheese on top of some random dough. The dough and the sauce are the important pieces.
Don't sleep on cheese, if you make a pizza with a nice smoked gruyere or gouda, it makes a world of difference. Louisville's provel pizza cheese blend is fabled. Far too many pizzerias sleep on cheese, because it's often the most expensive part of the pizza.
@@underwearskids1 i mean these guys use the highest quality buffalo mozarella, don't think they're sleeping on cheese... BUT, as someone from switzerland, yea, gruyere on pizza is something else, not just on pizza but yea.. imo the best tasting melted cheese. we have diff kinds of cheeses here that go well too, i mix em sometimes. sometimes i also add raclette if i want that raclette itch to be solved, with bacon and onions..
Exactly not too much cheese , the sauce should be really nice
@@underwearskids1a good pizza is made with mozzarella not gouda , but gouda can be nice too if its really good gouda
@@underwearskids1 That's not the Italian way. Make pizza every way you want, but Neapolitan pizza is made with great cheese.
its hard to compete with Italy everything in that amazing country is beautiful and sprinkled with a culture that promotes giving the world the best of everything, look at their food, vehicles, machinery, tourism just to name a few, keep it up Italy.
only politics its our disaster

Pineapple no, I can’t. 😅 In Italy only for brave people
Italy is the most amazing country in the world, the best food in the world, best everything, I go there every year to road trip

Mark, awesome. I love how your channel is not just following food but locations, and more about the destinations.. Happy New Year. You are the new Anthony Bourdain sir !!!
Very proud of my country. I'm glad that Mark visited some of the most famous creations and people working on the italian way to eat. Thanx for your appreciation!
I have never been to Italy but had many friends from Italy. Every time we ate pizza or pasta somewhere together, they would make faces about the authenticity. After watching this Italian food series, I realise why....it makes me want to go on food tour to Italy 😁 Great job Mark 👍👍
wrgg
Good, but remember, Italy isn't just pasta and pizza. But expecially, Italy isn't just food.
Pizza in Italy is not only a dish, it's also an art
Just like pasta!
Mark, one of my favorite videos! This is true gourmet pizza! Quality toppings. Omg!!! I can only wish to be there, But I'm glad you get to be there! You've done it again! I'm now watering at the mouth for these works of art! That's how I see food as an art, done by true love of preparation! Thank you! Bless you and your family this year...more traveling and more prosperity and good health!❤
Mark another memorable video where you get to the real core of what is Italian. You amaze me in your research and portrait of each culture and country. I used to live in Naples for 2 years and though i never visited these places it does bring back memories of the fresh buffalo mozzarella and the varied handmade pizzas. Congrats on another fantastic series. Grazie mille. Mark in SC
Amazing hard work Mark. My next trip is going to be visiting these places for sure.Thank you for the hard work for getting these to us. Too good 👍
I believe that a video like this is the best advertisement for pizza. After watching a video like this, I bet a lot of people will go out and find some pizza places. Obviously it won't be the pizzeria in this video, but they will still want to eat a pizza !
After watching this, I can never look at pizza near me the same again.
Hi Mark,
Thank you for the fascinating video of Italian food! I can only dream of eating this scrumptious food in Italy 🇮🇹!
Love your videos,
Peter
Oohh!! Men delicious 😋 and your so kind Mark Appreciate all your videos. 💯🙌
From Italy.....you're one of my favorite UA-camr about food. Passion and curiosity..and smiling, a very important thing today :)... an hug my friend!!
Perfect description of the pizza: "It's amazingly rich and hearty, yet puffy and light at the same time". Think they put love into the making of the pizza, starting with shaping the dough gently. The well thought out, quality toppings look very delicious. Lovely fresh mozzarella factory. At a different place, the upstairs small pizzeria room has pizza with big flavour and quality food.
How DARE you make me crave this delicious pizza and food?! The audacity lol 🍕 😅😂 keep it up Mark I love all your food videos and your fun, friendly energy is awesome! God bless you and all your fam and team! ❤🙏🏻
Aaand now I'm starving... 🍕
What an amazing look into the best Italian pizza! Thanks Mark Weins!
Indeed, this was a once in a lifetime opportunity. Sharing this incredible experience is why this is one of my favorite channels! Outstanding job, Mark! Keep going! 🇮🇹
you have met great Italian artisans dear Mark!🇮🇹
Amazing I was born very close to Caserta I’m so proud of my country thank you for showcasing the beauty and the amazing flavors
pizza make me wanna visit Italian. I Really want to taste the original pizza there.
Then you also must be identifying with mafia since its part of your country i guess since you probably had no part in pizza making?
Keep on the meds bro@@thejoe9065
Man, amazing video but also sometimes makes me sad that probably in my life i willl never get to have food like this.
Why?
Manifest it brother
Because not many people can afford it
It’s pizza, you can afford it
Same.x He is such a lovely humbled man and Ying is beautiful her laugh is contagious and Micah is one lucky boy to have such amazing parents and to travel all over the world
One of your best videos. Both pizza establishments are excellent and what they do and so different.
Umami is a taste of protein. If you add soya sauce (soya is very strong protein) it will create the umami taste. The preserved fish has the same idea. I use smoked or marinated herrings or sprats for this type of pizza (anchovies are usually in Italy).
Loved all your videos I watch them every night mark thanks for never stopping❤
What a masterpiece video %100
8:00 love how he is trying to eat and speak at the same time, and can’t. 😂😂😂
Mark you are truly blessed. Enjoying every moment of life and delicious food. God bless Wiens family!!!
Thank you Mark. Precious info. Never visited this best restaurant /pizzeria in Caserta place. I'm italian but, j didn't know this wonderful pizza's artist
, great chef, great your video 👏👏👏
I may never have a chance to eat that pizza but it was wonderful to watch the process in what it took to get the pizza to be so amazing
You got me on this one Mark. Those Pizzas are over the top epic. I am on the next flight to Naples to have some of the worlds best pizza! I need some of that apricot hazelnut pizza! Looked like Pizza Heaven!!!!
Oh my gosh Mark, you are showing us some delicious delicious pizza we go to Rome but you have shown me something new I can’t handle it. It looks so good. My mouth is watering. Absolutely absolutely thank you Mark thank you Grazie. Grazie Grazie.
This was ground breaking and I learned masses from what you experienced.
I am learning more and more about how influential
Some people who are saying - this is not the best pizza - you need to realize this is the way they make pizza in Italy! The pizza we make and eat in America is also delicious but it’s Italian-American food. You would be surprised to know Food in Italy is made way different than In America.
Americans shouldn't be allowed to have an opinion on food, they don't know what they're talking about. Obviously italy has the best pizza, the pizza in USA is heavy, greasy and they add sugar to it lol, they're addicted to sugar
You have to know that already in the 1st century before Christ, in Rome, a cook whose name was APICIUS wrote a bookk....THE ART OF COOKING. That explains everything.
when it comes to pizza, nothing beats italian pizza
I do not like pizza that's floppy where you have to fold it. I like it when it holds it's form and when you bite, you get a crunch that melts in your mouth. But that's just me. You guys like floppy pizza that's cool with me.
Such amazing authentic pizza and mozzarella!! Thanks for sharing this, Mark. I feel pizza deprived! 😂
Everything looks amazing on here your lucky to try it and thanks for showing us. Shoot my mouth is watering like crazy now.
Graci! What a treat, and what an honor. One, of my future destinations. Thank you for sharing Mr. Weins and company. Thank you for continued content, and inspiring your loyal fans to travel. I, just have one question. When, were you able to leave a 💩, after all that cheese? I'm sure you were backed up for about 8-9 days. Anyway, I look forward to future episodes. When, will you be coming to Canada? British Columbia, Canada, to be exact. I'd, love to meet you Mr. Weins. Long time follower here. Respect and blesses Brother.
Saluti da Firenze :) I love living in Italy, the most beautiful and fun country in the world!
Once again, only local fresh high quality ingredients make such creations possible. Truly mouth watering.
I especially enjoyed the variety of how the dough was formed and baked. Truly artisanal.
Trust me, what makes the difference between a good pizza and a perfect one is the WATER you use for making the dough, other than fresh ingredients ofc, and thats why in northern Italy (aswell in the rest of the world) pizzerias cant reach the awesomeness of Naples ones.
Compliments in the best of ways - - - the group eating pizza together with the sounds remind me of the most satisfied piglets ever! Made me want to join you. Thanks so much!
Wow, the choices of pizza are insane. What a great idea pizza cone... Thanks for a truly delightful food journey.

Awesome food vlog mark drop like and I love pizza it sin the blood.
the tomato pizza with capers reminds me of my favorite dish, Puttanesca (love it with Penne) ... My family comes from a small town south of Naples. The Italian dialect Francesco Martucci speaks sounds like the Italian my mother spoke.
This is the original one that for locals are not a simple food but a culture all the ingredients are selected and must be only Top ❤❤
The pizza looks delicious. You can FedEx me a whole pizza please and thank you 🤤🤣 Micah didn't make the trip with you guys I noticed since you been in Italy the background noise has been very quiet lol😂

Pineapple Pizza 'ROCKS' it's a Canadian invention...Mark you outdid yourself on this one, one of your best videos ever from a life long pizza lover. Thanks!
That Hawaiian pizza cone looked good. Next time I make Hawaiian pizza, I'm going to wrap pineapple in prosciutto, I usually use ham or pepperoni, but prosciutto sounds really good.
You should be banned from eating pizza.
Pepe in Grani inspire me to make pizza. I'm from a really small town In Mexico, videos like these helped me. Thank u maestros!
that first pizza looks so freaking good. It's not too thick and it looks so fluffy. I wanna try one.
Delicious 🤤🤤🤤🤤
Jeffrey and Mark together is magic. Do more episodes with you two together!
Ohhhh - Thank you!❤
Nice video . Just add these restaurants to my try list .
Where are all the pizza 🍕 lovers ❤
A good pizza should be able to carry its taste with just the basics. Dough, sauce, cheese. But I also love to indulge in loaded pizzas. It just depends on my mood. ❤
I am inspired to travel the world, I watch your videos everyday all the way from South Africa Cape Town. I love every content you create.
Mark, everything you touch is mesmerizing. Thank you .
Wish to see you soon again in Bethlehem.
Nizar
That pizza might have been voted the best pizza in the world, and it might have tasted devine (and some of them looked devine, though I don't eat seafood or fish, so some of them I wouldn't be able to eat) not to mention that dough in the first segment indeed looked amazing. Great char on the bottom (leopard spots I believe they are called) and awesome heat bubbles on the crust - BUT most of those pizzas looked like the dough was very soft and loose to me. Not my idea of a #1 pizza especially when the dough/crust is supposed to be the big thing for them. I might be biased being I grew up in Brooklyn NY, so a nice thin crispy NY style crust/pizza is my ideal pizza (though a sicilian/square pizza is my favorite actually).
Now, I've had some amazing pizza in Italy before mind you. Easily just as good as the best in NYC, if not better depending on the spot.
Ive been to new York, worst pizza in the world. Americans shouldn't be allowed to have an opinion on food. The pizza in New York was heavy, greasy and they added sugar to the sauce, it was so gross. You don't know what you're talking bout. They don't have these amazing local ingredients. They just try to imitate European food with mass produced industrial factory ingredients.
@@Oobe haha get out of here. You ever been to New Haven?
@@FrankDBoyce esiste una sola una vera pizza quella è napoletana...pizza americana fake
@@FrankDBoyce there is only one real pizza, that is Neapolitan...fake American pizza

Im sorry but i dont believe just because pizza was invented in Italy does not mean italy has the best pizza in the world ..
No in Italy pizza is always better
@@hadouth1 nope
It doesn't matter what you believe.
The best pizza is made by those that invented it. Deal with it.
You're right, everyone can believe what they want. However, I have tasted both (unlike you) and I can say that there is simply no competition between Italian pizza and the American imitation. Keep eating fast food, it's the best thing for people like you.
