NAPLES, ITALY - Welcome Naples, one of the Italian cultural and food capitals of the country. It’s very cool city with so much to explore and so today we’re going on a food tour to eat just a taste of some of the best Italian food and learn a little about this exciting Italian city!
Huge thank you to Chiara and my friends from Culinary Backstreets (culinarybackstreets.com/) for arranging this amazing day for me. Highly recommended in Naples or other cities where they offer tours.
Here’s everything we ate on this Naples food tour:
Pasticceria Capriccio - This old bakery in Naples is most famous for their Baba, a rum soaked cake, originating in Poland and France, but loved and adapted into Naples.
Next up Chiara took us on an exploration of one of the oldest markets in Naples, a place where you can really see the culture and life of Naples. It loved the colorful mix of fresh vegetables, clothes, Maradona shops, and artisans. The main thing I tried in the market was Limonata a cosce aperte - “open legs lemonade” - lemon juice, sulfur water, and bicarbonate!
È Pronto ‘O Mangià - Now we’re moving on to some of the best Italian food I’ve had - a variety of spaghetti pasta dishes, a truly Naples food institution. We tried spaghetti alle vongole - Neapolitan style spaghetti with clams, spaghetti alla Pignatiello - spaghetti with mixed seafood, and frittura di paranza - mixed fried seafood, all of which were outstanding. Without a doubt the seafood spaghetti was the best spaghetti of my life and cooked perfectly.
Lombardi 1892 - You can’t go to Naples without eating pizza, and the original Neapolitan pizza. Pizza was invented in and around Naples, and they have the world’s original pizzeria. While we didn’t go to the original pizzeria, we went to a place that serves traditional Naples pizza and some of the best. This time, just had to go with the classic - Pizza Margherita - tomatoes, basil, buffalo mozzarella, and it was everything I hoped for!
Sorbillo Pizza Fritta - Finally to wrap up this Italian street food tour in Naples I couldn't leave without trying deep fried pizza. I met up with some friends and deep fried pizza at Sorbillo Pizza Fritta. It’s definitely something that’s a little messy, but extremely tasty - loaded with melty oozing cheese and tomato sauce!
If you love food, Naples is a city you have to visit. There’s always something unique and exciting everywhere you look - What a city!

I often express my belief that Italians have made an invaluable contribution to the world through their extraordinary cuisine.
and art
Plus music, beatifull women and some of the most creative people in the world. In fact they have it all.❤
They also spread covid around the world in 2020 lol invaluable contributions! 😂
dont forget the cars
@@gladitsnotmeno they didn't. The globalists did.
Nothing but love for our Italian brothers 🇩🇪❤🇮🇹
Wow , nice am from Nigeria but I live in Napoli Italy for about 8yrs before I moved to the northern part of Italy, for me Napoli is the best, when we talk about fun, food, you name it and most of the people are nice 😘😘
This Italy tour is killing me! Such an excellent food adventure! As always from you!!
i came for diego armando maradona....nothing else mark!
Thank you very much, really appreciate you!
WILL YOU VISIT LOST CITY OF POMPEII AND ITALY 🌋??
Everyone at the restaurant was so friendly. That chef was so proud of his work (as he should be). That seafood spaghetti and the fried seafood platter looked amazing.😋
As an Italian i am so proud to see this.
Mark - You absolutely EPITOMIZE the definition of your title as “The Food Ambassador”. I always wait
patiently so I can watch your videos from around the world. I sit in my easy chair and watch your videos
and it almost seems like I am there with you in spirit. Please keep up the good work that You and Ying do
because it is a pleasure to watch both of you guys “Do Your Thing”!
they made diego fat!!! lol
Thank you very much for your kind words and encouragement, keeps me inspired and excited. Thank you for your incredible support.
About 10 years ago, my wife and I landed in Naples one evening, took the airport bus to Central Station, and walked to our hotel nearby. The receptionist suggested Lombardi for dinner because it was nearby. We didn’t know, and were a little sceptical, because the restaurant appeared aged, but once the food came out, OMG. It was the best. We went back a few years later and for my birthday we went to a pizzeria and each downed a pizza.
Mark is right - the city may appear grungy, but it’s full of character, history and one of my favourites, not just in Italy but Europe.
Old joints are usually around for a reason. 😉
Everybody from all the world are always welcome in Napoli. It's our culture hug everybody with our food and kindness. Hope you Mark have feel this and enjoy it
its refreshing how there isnt just loud happy/bouncy music in these videos. really nice hearing the natural audio of the areas
I miss Italy!!! I have been to Italy with my Italian family. Naples...Pizza...Chin Chin Salute!!!! And the Sea Food Spaghetti...I am crying, it is all so beautiful!!! Naples is a rough town. But the food is out of this world. Mark, you are the first person to eat a Pizza Margherita, and show it in all it's glory!!! Nobody, until now, has done that.
You are so down home with Italian food. And that is Italian food. I will look for more Food of Italy. I also like that sign painted for Micah. I feel that Micah will return to Italy many times.
So we had some friends that went to Italy recently and did not like it. they said everything was box pasta and canned sauce and this was off the tourist path too. I want to prove them wrong!!
@@bethengelhart9039clearly fell for every tourist trap possible
Italians are very hospitable. Enjoying this series very much. Would love to move there from the US
As a proud Italian.
Mark wiens represents our Food like no other
Great job Mark
People who are proud of the place where they live don't through garbage everywhere.
hes a banker , anyone can see that
I dont like him much. Went to a few spots he suggested in thailand and other countries and found most were sub par arrogant stalls. He makes them famous for no reason.
If you dont like him .why are you on his channel. Writing comments?makes no sense
because we dont like him @@1life1kitchen
The whole series from Italy is magnificent!
Thank you very much!
Naples is special, the food speaks for itself, doesn't need any special advertising, everyone knows how to cook, it's very hard to eat anything less than delicious when you are there.
Italians build all the world ,gave the world their culture their fashion and their art of cooking..Italy is just wonderful..You are the best Mark,
Correct. Italy is the heart of civilization.
Thanks. Proud to please the entire globe.
They copy everything
@@sandybarbosa4214 Other cultures/ethnicities copy Italians. Italians are creators pioneers and innovators. I sense jealousy.
I absolutely LOVE Italy, but to say that they built the entire world is ignorant and uneducated at best.
Mark, I am a teacher in New York City and my class loves your videos! Please continue to make content and thank you again for showing my class these wonderful food spots across the world.
Thank you,Mark, for your never missing a chance to thank people, - you make it so real, so sensible, so positive, so down to earth, and you accept and roll with the punches like no other. You have a genuine heart, and it isn't pride that stimulates your conduct, but a true honest humble appreciation. I find it pleasant and entertaining and educational watching your travels and I am 93 so been there and done that, and can sense pretend. I love the warmth I feel to get a peek at your family traveling with you.
That Pizza looks so yummy. Kenyan Drooling and salivating from USA
Good Italian food will keep you full for the entire day. Italian people are some of the best cooks anywhere.
My God, what delicacies, the best food in the world, I only eat it in Italy, especially Neapolitan cuisine, very assorted, Naples has something magical❤ culture, music, art, sea etc.
Congrats for the video.
OMGOODNESS!! The way Chef Antonio whipped up the seafood spaghetti was uncut excellence at its best!! The authentic ingredients compliments the pastas & creamy flavorful sauces is a perfect marriage of a well prepared cuisine.. Fresh fish is considered a light traditional protein in the states so we often coat it with seasoned flour then deep fried until crispy golden color. Therefore, im very familiar with the great benefits that comes from a fish fry but seafood spaghetti is a absolute phenomenal appeal to foodies like me. Thanks Mark for this epic upload!! Such an amazing episode!! Salud to you Mark & family, friends!! Cheers!!🍷🍝🍕🍇🍆
Thank you very much, appreciate you watching!
The all tours you make , this italy season is thé best 👌 congratulations mark from Dominican Republic 🇩🇴🇩🇴 you thé best
The footage of the streets, alleys and artisans really made this one, as well as the local passion for the food. thank you
people in Naples are just phenomenal, super friendly and my family and I loved it there. Nice video clip!!!
Mark Wiens is so enthusiastic. Love this guy so much and gets me excited to maybe travel for food myself!
half of the views here are because of maradona lol
What a smashing success! This video was utterly incredible from the spongy rum soaked baba to the stretchy buffalo mozzarella! Your smile and engaging nature are infectious. Keep spreading joy and sharing your amazing food travels Mark❤
EGGPLANT PASTA.!!! 🥰😍😍😍😍😍😍MY FAVORITE!!...And the SEAFOOD PLATE MIX..🥰🥰😍😍🥰
Absolutely incredible Italy is one of the greatest countries in the world
Its the best. Italy is the creator of civilization.
I ate a lot of pasta vongole when I was in Italy. One of my favorite pasta dish ever. And it is so simple to make. Back thing back in Norway we don't have those vongole clams but we can use other mussels. But the vongole just gives that Mediterranean sweet tast that I miss.
Great to hear that, one of my favorites as well!
That Chef Antonio just exuding love for his craft! Wow!✨✨✨
Glad you're having a blast in Italy, Mark! The whole series is incredible, and there are so many more places to visit, from North to South (and islands!)
he is in diego armando maradona halls...
Thank you very much, an amazing trip. With I had more time, but there will definitely be more trips to Italy!
👍👍👍🍕🍕🍕🍕😐😐😐🚢
My last holiday, i was with my girlfriend in naples. After that she wanted to marry me. Red wine and Spaghetti Vongole isnthe receipt for a good marriagge.now
The sign artist is a treasure…someone needs to train with him…his work is amazing and “cool”…❤
Salute to the lady for her knowledge of history, bravo
Went to Naples last summer. Despite the rather chaotic and somewhat dirty city, the people and the food is superb. We went to Pizzeria Brandi, and had the best pizza Ive ever had, accompanied with a cold Birra Moretti. Heaven!
Cool story
Go to Paris if you want to see a real dirty city😂
Awesome to hear that, glad you enjoyed your time in Naples as well.
I can't take these videos seriously anymore, everything is amazing and wonderful, where's the critique...
Stop watching
I think i fell in love with that seafod fried platter just by looking, hope i can try it too someday
Italian food is the best. The most civilized country in the world. Amazing culture and people.
I love Italy. The people are energetic and simple so as their food. Espresso, pasta, pizza. I love them.
FOR ALL PIZZA LOVERS, TO LEARN ABOUT PIZZA HISTORY, MUST BE A GREAT PLUS. THANK YOU MARK!!!
I never wanted spaghetti more. I will go there one day. Mark, you are amazing. Thank you for your work 🙏🏼
This has inspired me to visit Naples , I love the culture and the food looks so good, I live in England so I’m only a 3 hour flight away , my New Year’s resolution is to travel more in 2024 ❤
Napoli is an amazing experience, it's a city so full of history, food, culture! Believe an Italian, and don't miss to make a tour in the Napoli sotterranea, the Napoli underground!
please go for me!!
bless your travels.
from Australia
Awesome to hear that, you will love the food!
What a great video, thanks a lot for it Mark ! I was in Naples in 2022 and really loved it there. The place where you had lunch looks fantastic. I love spagetti al vongole, and all the other dishes also looked so tasty and fresh. The food is amazing, the people are so friendly, and the athmosphere is really great, especially in the spanish quarter, where we stayed. My only problem is that it is so loud and people are partying at night (on every night, not only in the weekends) untill 3am, so that sleep is almost impossible. And after enjoying "real" pizza in Naples, no pizza in Switzerland can come close to that.
Thank you very much. Yes I can definitely see how Naples is a party city that never stops!
This is why my family loves to travel. The experience of different cultures and the FOOD❤
The backstreets of Napoli, oh yes! A food and history tour! I enjoyed this so much. Thanks.
I really like this video. The down-to-earth Italian cuisine, especially the seafood dishes, is fantastic. I hope that such a cultural tradition in Italy continues to thrive for a long time. I would love to visit Naples someday and try the seafood dishes prepared by a local family.
Italian cuisine is the best in the world. No country comes close.
Italian cuisine is good but not the best. Chinese/ Japanese cuisine has thousands of years of history - my understanding they are probably second to none, their method and technique are amazing. Don't just my word for it - explore it!
@@TL-ph5wg Chinese food is good but Italian is better in the western world. Italian is most renowned cuisine in the world
16:20 Antonio is a very good Chef. He really showed off skills and passion here. He's got a future in culinary 💯
Nobody does food ,better than you.
Keep doing ,what you're doing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been watching mark for years. This is the first time I see him ridiculously happy in the whole video. Being from naples I completely understand him. You won't taste food as good as in Naples.
He is....in every video.. c'mon 😂
Ur not special because ur from Naples you need
The guy is always smilimg from ear to ear in every country, you're bias of course
The rest of the world begs to differ with you
Liar!
I've eating many and trust me many many Pizza's. The only one I will never forget is the Naples pizza. Where ever I am in the world I am still looking for the dough, the ingredients, the everything. 🤤🤤🤤
30 yrs ago, we went to Napoli. They have the best light house wine that i drank it without having any side effects .. I have the best fungi pizza! I also tried bacalla! I love Italy! Thank you, Mark! Love you and your family
My favourite videos are cities or areas overviews: lots of sights, lots of places, lots of food. Thank you so much for reanimating memories of my travels to Italy and Milano and Naples particularly.

Thank you for this video Mark, this brings back so many memories! Absolutely LOVED Naples, even though it's notorious for being a 'rough' city the locals are so very welcoming and the food is the best I've ever had in the entirety of Italy. Definitely recommend visiting if you're into (Italian) authentic food.
