My truck did the heavy light heavy light thing when turning and I just lubed the u joint on the steering and it fixed it easy.

The issue is back, so new column u-joints are going in later this week.

Tie rods end up being a real pain. I've had ones totally seized into the front hub. My recommended plan of attack for them is a pickle fork and a sledgehammer. Or a ball joint splitter. I was going to mention the Heavy duty zip ties on the boots. Some manuals state when replacing the inner rack end to torque it with the steering turned to avoid stressing the rack.

Quick and easy, great diy. Btw... is it me or is the rear quarter panel rust getting worse?

Thanks! Definitely worse, that Ohio weather is just brutal.

Great Diy :) Ryan does that Schwaben torque wrench have NM scale on it?

Thanks! The Lemforder parts are manufactured in Germany. BMW actually uses Lemforder parts at the factory for most of their control arm/suspension component needs. They themselves don't make those parts.
The Schwaben doesn't have an NM scale, but you can simply convert to lb/ft and round up to the nearest pound.

Yes agree 100%. German made Lemforder is nearly good as OE part. But personally i have seen Lemforder parts which are made in Brazil and even in Italy and it is hard to imagine that their quality is same as German made ones. About schwaben everything is clear. Thank you and good luck :)

E39Source Yes Lemförder is good but Meyle HD is a little better because it is the stronger version from Meyle (on German: Verstärkt)
Here a great Video from a Bavarian UA-camr on Meyle HD :ua-cam.com/video/pcAkZ40IfEE/v-deo.html
      Cheers Michael

Well the Lemforder is the OE, so it's 1:1 minus the ground off BMW logo. Same thing for a fraction of the cost.

I had Meyle HDs in there, they failed before 2.5 years. The Lemforders are a step up in my opinion.

i have tried but it is very hard to open it do you have any other special tricks?

To brake the tie rod nut free? You just need more leverage, so a larger/longer wrench or adjustable wrench. You can try penetrating oil on it too.
