Black Myth: Wukong is an upcoming action role-playing game by Chinese indie developer Game Science, based on the classical 16th-century Chinese novel Journey to the West. The game has been described as Souls-like. The player controls a monkey with an uncanny resemblance to the titular character referred to in the game as "the Destined One" to fight through an assortment of enemies, with abilities to transform into flying insects or a giant monster.

EDIT: It is choppy and spikey all over... expect additional downgrades and more ;) While it already got downgraded a lot since the first in-engine trailers too. It is too late for this game to hit more than 6.5/10.0 ... except for in china obviously.

Performance optimization is also something that's more focused on closer to the end of the dev cycle. The story, music, gameplay, graphics, as well as public response to playing the demos have this game slated to be a top game of 2024.

51:13 they even used the 80s tv show theme song, this game hits way different for chinese fans who grew up with this national icon
the visuals are sweet but the fact the dodge rolls are all normal feels like a missed chance to have him dance more w/ his staff and weave combos that way. The clone mimic + hardening is sweet though. Kind of like Mortal Shell in that case.

Everything looks amazing and the soundtrack gets more emotional as the fights go on, which I really like. I really don't like the fact you can dodge pretty much everything and the hits to the enemies don't feel very impactful which is a game changer for me. Souls player or not they NAILED how it feels when you make contact with an enemy with your weapon whereas this looks like I'll be hitting a huge creature with a stick.

Some of the heavier attacks look like they’ve got weight behind them and parrying looks solid,but I definitely see what you’re saying about the basic attacks.

So wukong can't defend the attacks, our only option is to dodge against it, and man the movement is absolutely flawless. definitely gonna try it
idk which video you were watching but he did parry as well as had a special ability that made his skin stone which also worked as a parry

It will probably be an option. You can completely remove the HUD even in Ubisoft-esque games like the Horizon franchise, so Wukong won't miss out on that

@@user-pr7qf7uy7n no, there will be a lot of "mobs" in the game. The latest gameplays focused heavily on bosses, but the first gameplay ever released had various common enemies, as does one of the more recent ones where Wukong fights some stone guys. Although the trailers show a LOT of bosses

the Island is just like Hell Paradise. Very Nice graphic, music, designs, environment and over all mechanics. Would be nice if they actually make the environment destroyable and not just limited to statues and buildings but the floors and mountains too.. All those skill effect just disappear and look unnatural.

Looks cool, I hope somebody's working on an Indian version of this type of game so we get to be introduced to Indian mythology as well.
journey to the west is in essence a story about going to india. There are many indian inspired buddhist elements in journey to the west.
Making a Hindu mythology one would be good but get a single small detail wrong and people get offended the game gets cancelled.. sued ...the developer get killed ....there families shamed ...which wouldn't be good so ...no one dares make a Hindu mythology game and it probably will never be made because of this
