This show was actually the first time Floyd ever played dark side of the moon from start to finish onstage, they tried the night before in Brighton but had to stop the show due to terrible sound issues 🎸

just about correct, although they still didn't have Eclipse written yet...hence, the rather goofy way they ended Brain Damage. I think they debuted Eclipse to end the piece the very next show, if memory serves.

I have a recording of the Brighton show. In the beginning you can hear someone near the recorder saying '' here they are coming on now'' during the heartbeats, then as the music builds up and the visual effects are happening just before Breathe the man is saying '' oh...fuuuucking hell, look at that! '' It must have been an impressive visual effect I only wish I was there to see it.

@@furnitureconsortium From the audience recs now uploaded, we can tell Eclipse remained missing for at least the next three night's shows (4th night Leeds recording 'runs out' at that time, but sounds similar progression to prior night's performances, as tho would still not be there) = next 'available live / archive recording' is the Rainbow Theatre venue (at Finsbury Park), near three weeks alter (17.2) - where press were present (and bowled over by it) - when it's then played. N.B. Latter improvisation / jamming op ACYL, then still remains as more or less only a short linking piece.

for 'appreciation', I wouldn't call it "terrible sound" .. until 'Money' it's mesmerising: only then did an (crew) incurable p.a. (efx?) continous loud 'buzz' break in, so they instead improvised - amazingly, 'just like that' - into an impromptu 15min AHM performance which played with no "sound issues": credit where credit is due to the band and their performances, plse.

Of all the gigs throughout early 72 and the official release of DSOTM in 73, I ADORE all the times where they play the travel sequence, that will become on the run. TS is way better than OTR, which is a minus on the official LP. Here the band plays as ONE, terribly amazing, stunning, breathtaking and much more

Yes, but that would make it a bit too common, I prefer to think of the bootlegs as more underground, harder to find.

Must say, huge, HUGE kudos and many thanx to whomever was the original taper (I know how riskily difficult it was to get tape recorders into shows in ('one of') those days!) since this is darn good quality to preserve the first ever full public performance of DSOTM (despite minus Eclipse not performed / ready then) - even more so to have captured the neat priceless reaction / 'provenance' genuine audience aspects as like the female intake of breath reaction at the opening: you would think the band themselves would care ('a la J. Page of LZ like) to have got this out since it was once revealed everything they've "ever, EVER" done is held in a "card [!] indexed vault" [The late Tommy Vance DJ on way back '82 BBC rebroadcast of Wembley '74 DSOTM!]
