These videos are a godsend. trying this on an ‘87 Montero I bought from a guy who never drove it, but never had the title put in his name. I live in Indiana. VIN checks out clean, so I expect no issues with the BMV. Just mailed the papers, so fingers crossed!

It took about 10 days to receive the sticker and Vermont Registration....I registered in NY about 3 weeks later (due to DMV appointment needed because of COVID)....Good luck!
Process worked for me and I live in Florida. I did *not* get a clean title from the process, it still had all the brands the car had on the previous title. But, I was able to get the car into my name after the previous owners had title skipped, and for some strange reason, it *appeared* like a clean title. Interesting, but it still worked. (I sold the car and mentioned I had the title but I made sure to show the seller the brands.)

Rhode Island had the same loophole. Which I took advantage off. I would purchase cars in NYS CHEAP without titles and then get it registered in RI, then with the RI registration I would sell it and make some decent $$$
Going to check with Vermont DMV tomorrow and see if they still do this, and I better check Colorado to see if they except it. have a open title from original owner, and bill of sale from his nephew he has passed but they had mistakes in Vin# and last time it had a plate was 1970,ND. so the title has been purged from the system. if this car is a barn find and I have to totally rebuild should I check rebuild or just used. I went the Vermont route back in January 2021......Vermont, as far as I know, is still doing this (can’t hurt to call to confirm).....Personally, I would go the used route to avoid potential time delays, but that’s me....Best of luck getting your ride on the road!
As of 2023 the state of Washington is saying that Vermont registrations are not a valid form of proof of ownership to transfer a title in Washington state. Their reasoning is because they give out the registrations to anyone regardless of the state of residency.
I have everything ready to go except the nada value, I have a trailer the weight is 2900LBS and its a 1998 everything is complete and ready to go even had the local police do a vin search through NCIC all good, just trying to figure out how to NADA value a small enclosed trailer, thanks and any help is appreciated

You could give the Vermont DMV a call and ask them..... or put the amount that you paid for it along with a copy of The Bill of Sale.....They might kick it back, and it might take longer, but they’ll more than likely tell you the correct NADA amount....Good luck!

J. D. Power bought NADA...... Google NADAguides.com and at the top of the page and click on the “orange bar”that says “start now”..... You then have to enter year of vehicle, model, etc......When you get to the book value for your vehicle, print it out and mail the copy with your other paperwork to Vermont DMV (I mailed mine Certified mail so I knew when the DMV received it).......I did not do the VIN verification.....Good luck!!
The registration amount ($76.00) was listed on the Vermont DMV website....That was over a year ago....You might want to check the website to make sure they haven’t increased the fee....Good luck!

To the best of my knowledge, ANY state will register a vehicle with a Vermont Registration ONLY, so long as the vehicle is 15 years old or older....Vermont does Not issue a vehicle Title for a vehicle 15 years old or older....Good luck!
In my “Part 2” video, at the 50 second mark, there’s a Bulletin from Vermont DMV that I suggest you should print and bring it with you to your DMV.....I brought it with me and showed it to the DMV clerk in NY when she asked me, “where’s the Title?”..... I showed her the Bulletin and she said, “OK”.

You won’t get a Vermont Title....Vermont will mail you the Registration (I got mine about 10 days AFTER I received the Vermont plates)....I’m in NY (close to Vermont), if you’re out west it will take longer....Couldn’t hurt to give them a call....Good lick!

When I went to go register the car, they didnt want to let me cause the car was already registered in my state. I tried to tell them that Im the owner of the car, since it had the vermont paperwork, and it was in my name. In my video I show the “Vermont Bulletin “ which you can print online....I brought the Bulletin with me to my DMV....The clerk wanted the title for the car....I said the vehicle is older than 15 years and in Vermont they don’t issue a title for a vehicle that old....I said here’s the Bulletin which explains it......She went to her supervisor, came back and said ok....

It took almost 4 weeks for me....They sent me back my paperwork (I didn’t put my DOB) and my check (I paid the $6.00 Warranty which I didn’t have to....I made the corrections and resent it....It took another 3 weeks to get my Vermont plates and another week to get my Vermont Registration.....I’m closer to Vermont here in NY, so it’s probably on its way to you, it’ll just take a little longer travel time...Good luck!

What if there's a registration hold because of fines in the home city. Will they see those fines there in Vermont. What if the title already in my name
As far as I know, as long as the vehicle is 15 yrs old or older, you just need a Bill of Sale to get it registered in Vermont..... I don’t believe they’ll see the fines in Vermont (so long as the fines are from another state)....... However, you do run the risk of (when you do get it registered in your home state) the fines being an issue if you’re pulled over in that state and they run the VIN #....Good luck!

Becuase in almost every state like NY u have to transfer your registration to NY its an easy simple process. You can't drive around for long with vermont plates

The whole reason people do this process is because it gives you a registration that shows you own that vehicle so you bring the vermont registration to your states DMV and they will transfer it to a title for you. However if you live in NY and your vehicle is older than 1972 they will not issue you a title they will just transfer your vermont Registration into a NY registration witch is fine. The whole key to this process is that it shows you own that vehicle and are able to register it.

Once I received the Vermont Registration, I brought that to my local DMV and had the vehicle registered in my state....After I had registered the vehicle I did need to get it inspected...Good luck!

You’ll receive the Vermont Registration in about 1 week after you received the Vermont Plates.

As far as I know it still works...I titled my car in NYS at the beginning of March....You could call the Vermont DMV and ask them to make sure...Good luck!

You won’t get a Vermont Title....Vermont will mail you the Registration (I got mine about 10 days AFTER I received the Vermont plates)....I’m in NY (close to Vermont), if you’re out west it will take longer....Couldn’t hurt to give them a call....Good lick!
Good evening, im having the same problem as you are. I got the vermont registration, and inspection in my state. When I went to go register the car, they didnt want to let me cause the car was already registered in my state. I tried to tell them that Im the owner of the car, since it had the vermont paperwork, and it was in my name. They didnt understand it, and didnt want to help me, all they said I can do was to do a lean. What do I do
In my video I show the “Vermont Bulletin “ which you can print online....I brought the Bulletin with me to my DMV....The clerk wanted the title for the car....I said the vehicle is older than 15 years and in Vermont they don’t issue a title for a vehicle that old....I said here’s the Bulletin which explains it......She went to her supervisor, came back and said ok....

How long did it take? I sent mine out on February 8,2021 and it still haven’t came in. Any recommendations what should I do? I’m from California, Los Angeles
It took almost 4 weeks for me....They sent me back my paperwork (I didn’t put my DOB) and my check (I paid the $6.00 Warranty which I didn’t have to....I made the corrections and resent it....It took another 3 weeks to get my Vermont plates and another week to get my Vermont Registration.....I’m closer to Vermont here in NY, so it’s probably on its way to you, it’ll just take a little longer travel time...Good luck!

No, I just put in the make & model....I did take a photo of my Vin# and sent that in with the paperwork....Good luck!
Thanks just got done filing out the paperwork tomorrow hopefully I can send it with a money order or check .kinda nervous about the vin verification though because this truck has a salvage title
I sent mine Certified Mail at the Post Office so a receipt was mailed back to me....That way I knew for sure when Vermont received it....So long as your truck is 15 years old or older, you shouldn’t have a problem....Best of luck!

Make up one and have somebody else sign it oh and it doesn't have to be the person who sold you the car either

What if there's a registration hold because of fines in the home city. Will they see those fines there in Vermont. What if the title already in my name
As far as I know, as long as the vehicle is 15 yrs old or older, you just need a Bill of Sale to get it registered in Vermont..... I don’t believe they’ll see the fines in Vermont (so long as the fines are from another state)....... However, you do run the risk of (when you do get it registered in your home state) the fines being an issue if you’re pulled over in that state and they run the VIN #....Good luck!

So why do you have to go to your Dmv in your state
Becuase in almost every state like NY u have to transfer your registration to NY its an easy simple process. You can't drive around for long with vermont plates

The whole reason people do this process is because it gives you a registration that shows you own that vehicle so you bring the vermont registration to your states DMV and they will transfer it to a title for you. However if you live in NY and your vehicle is older than 1972 they will not issue you a title they will just transfer your vermont Registration into a NY registration witch is fine. The whole key to this process is that it shows you own that vehicle and are able to register it.

Once I received the Vermont Registration, I brought that to my local DMV and had the vehicle registered in my state....After I had registered the vehicle I did need to get it inspected...Good luck!
