Travis and I grew up on whoops that size at aquasco raceway back in the late 80s early 90s. Love it! Those where great times even tho the rest of us were racing for 2nd place....that was our first place because if he was lined up with us at the gates 1st place was his lol he used to pull over and talk to his pops let us all pass then chase us all back down and we weren't slouches but he was just that fast in 80cc super mini. Thank the lord when we hit 125s he was off competing nation wide and we finally had the chance to get 1st lol....we all loved racing with him though because we knew he was heading for greatness. The only one who could beat him was Joey Schuler who was also a fantastic rider but he didn't pursue turning pro which I never understood because he too had greatness in his future if he wanted to turn pro aswell. I can't remember onetime of Travis beating Joey in A class ever..granted Joey was a bit older than us but still he was a fantastic talent. Them 2 and Aaron Day were awesome to see battle once they beat us to A class joining Joey who was waiting for a challenge when they got there to battle him. If I had a time machine that's the years I would travel back to lol. Great videos Mr.Gary I absolutely love the stuff you post they bring back tremendous memories.

The year before Travis turned pro, he raced the night time SX track that Beasley builds during the Budds National for the amateurs. I was 25+B and Travis was 250a. I spent the entire track walk analyzing the whoops. With zero experience on them, I decided to dbl them and my friends were split on that and blitzing them. Blitzing them didn’t turn out as planned for them and I went ok and rolled when out of control.
Travis yanks the start, heel clicker on the step over, makes the whoops seem like acceleration bumps and pulls far away. In your face! Second lap he picks the front wheel up to the 1 o’clock position and wheelies through the whoops!! “I’m outa here” chad said in disgust. His front tire didn’t bob at all, as if he was on flat ground.
Glad Travis turned out to be an amazing dude.

I remember seeing TRAVIS as a young unheard of kid at BUDDS CREEK when I raced there lol

Of course, what kinda question is that? and do it waaaay easier and more comfortably, more efficient on your body, do you not realize what it takes to push a 250 2 stroke like that? 😂 450’s are Cadillac’s and will take you wherever you wanna go much much easier. And you answered your own question...modern...it’s a proven fact the bikes we have today have better chassis, better suspension, and handle better, make more power...etc. and just the simple fact that it’s a 450...not saying either one is better cause I love em both. But a 450 just does everything way easier and with less work, less arm pump, less tiredness...etc.
