- We have been getting a few questions about our Toyota Hilux and thought a video would help answer some of these and give you some ideas on how to set up your dual cab. In a perfect world where money wasn't a problem we would love to have a tray and a box instead of the canopy. We were lucky enough to get a lot of these after market accessories at a really cheap price, second hand or in near new condition. This helped to keep the budget in check.

just got my self an 09 Hilux and starting to kit it out for touring, in my mind I have pretty much the same plans for my rig as you have on yours, keep up the good work mate and keep "Senden it!!" 👍
Hey Brody - it’s John in SA - you did well to get a ‘’09 Hilux - I did a lot of research and learnt that the 2008-2013 models avoided a lot of issues found in the older ones but pre-DPF is good too - my 2010 SR is great and even has ABS/steering wheel controls and cruise control driver comforts - replaced the head unit with a Pioneer touchscreen - just finished my first two month trial with the new alu 1600mm canopy and dual battery setup - fantastic storage and more practical than a tub/canopy config - shelter from hot sun and rain - enjoy your future plans - John in SA

Thanks for the details Dylan and Zali I luckily bought my 2010 Hilux diesel auto in Melbourne just before the insane COVID prices hit Feb ‘20 and came back over the SA border to retire - it had an ARB canopy but me being short could not reach far enough through the side windows (yes I could use a step 👎🏻) - so I replaced the drawers, tub and canopy with an aluminium dropsides tray and new aluminium canopy with legs from Laverton - just starting fitout with Redarc/Renogy/Amptron Lithium dual battery system, Engel fridge, LED lights: and waiting for 23Zero RFT - John in SA
You got your rig just in time well done! I would definitely get a ally box and tray next time canopy can be annoying like you mentioned

Cheers Dane, that's a big jump in in years 03 to 15. MP300 look mint with 33s 😃 and massive flares in my opinion
Not wrong mate 👌🏽 mines a basic tourer 2" lift and 32s it looka really good got the safari snorkel arb ascent canopy arb summit bar and all the other good stuff 😁 i love it

Hey mate, I dunno if this is a dumb question, but how do you workout where to install the things you have around the car? Are their manuals etc or is it just something you've learnt from others or came up with yourself - coming from someone who doesn't own a 4WD yet. Thanks!!
Thats a fair question mate, its basicly something iv learnt thru mates and family owning 4x4's and also thru online forums such as newhilux.com.au - N70 facebook groups. This helps to develop a understanding on your particular car. Hope this helps 😊

www.ebay.com.au/itm/332644360205, these are what i installed but i would not recommend these cheaps ones. Instead buy yourself some STEDI ones. Im on my second pair in 12 months. Hope this helps mate

Gday mate. I have a very similar set up to you. Same canopy and all. Just wondering how you mounted the fire extinguisher in the back corner of the canopy? On the canopy supports?
Hey Joseph, the small dry powder extinguisher came with a plastic bracket that has slots to either screw or strap it to a surport. I used large cable ties on mine but a hose clamp would be better. 👍

How did you fit those rocket switch?
You pop the factory button caps out and buy a switch they fits straight into the hole. Dont buy cheap ones as they sometimes dont fit correctly
Hey mate just got a quick one, I’m buying a 2014 SR5 next weekend and just realised they don’t come with rear diff lock. How did you go about it does it still do well without? Or have you got it installed ?
My diff lock is a tjm air locker. Which Is a 3K min set up. You can 4x4 along way without a locker. But the locker has saved me from whiching my way to safety so many times. Hope this helps 👍
Get a e locker if you install one. Air lockers are ol school

Hey mate, what brand is the exhaust, i have the same on mine, came with it and need to contact them for some parts? Also did the bracket come with the arb compressor? Cheers!
I really don't know about the brand sorry mate. Il do some digging when i get underneath it. As for the compressor, ARB did supply me with the bracket to mount it in the engine like that

Yes i have had a ARB air locker in the past but had a issue with it and now i run a TJM air locker. Apparently they are far better than ARB 🙄.

How the hell do u get to the oil filter below ur fuel filters ? 😂😂😂😂😂
I unclipped the filter from the bracket. You can keep the fuel lines primed and connected when doing it
