It's gonna be hard to not take this path every playthrough. After all, always be yourself. Unless you can be a dragon. Then always be a dragon.

@@gaius2451 I got it on my first playthrough, and decided to take a look at it, was like 'WTF?' when I saw my character.
It didn't really fit my run, so I decided against actually playing it through, and reloaded back to the 'true' path for that character, Demon.

@@gaius2451 I was definitely expecting some basic visual customizations and whatnot.
I.e. a few horn options, wing options, option to choose no horns or skin changes, etc.
Honestly I'm in the mindset that it would have been better to create a new model entirely for each Path, and then when you unlock the Transformation you can choose to swap to that or stay as you are (either permanently or ideally through a toggle to your 'true form'). The 'true form' could be entirely visual, not display armor, but would be the representation of that path to the extreme. I.e. THE Lich from the cover art, or a more thematic / custom angel, etc. rather than the somewhat derpy models with an odd looking wing and tail.
I mean look at Arue, that don't look right.
Many classes can get most of the benefits and the dragon form without choosing this mythic path. Heck you can get dragon form by lvl 11.
Man, I can't wait for a playable Kobold mod so I can play this Path properly.

we need an RPG that just lets you start as an all powerful dragon and do dragon things,
like invade cities and horde treasure, or stay in the wild and rule the animal kingdom!
i'm obsessed with dragons and there really aren't many games that let us play as them.

You still start small, but you can turn into a dragon a few hours in.

@@RaptorJesus. You can change forms, but it´s almost like two separate gameplays. (human/dragon)
In some areas you have to be a dragon, some are only available on foot.
As for people treating you differently. Without spoiling too much, you have your allies/servants, dragon hunters, and some people that don´t know your true nature.
I should probably add, it´s not a "OP dragon ruler" fantasy. You are still vulnerable during the game. Don´t know about the ending, as I haven´t actually finished playing. It´s not a short RPG.
It´s maybe not the best, but can be a lot of fun.

I'm about 2 hours in this game, and I'm loving it!!!!! The music when you get to the main menu is so beautiful that I almost don't want to leave it, and for my first run-through I'm playing a dhampire sorceress with the Undead Bloodline who worships Desna.
Perfect path for maguses, which are MAD and the damage die bonus to spells will come in extremely handy for shocking grasp
Sadly the transformation doesn't give you any stat bonusses right now....bugged.

Considering the Enemy size problem I get why they maybe did not….but it would be so fun to get the ancient dragon size lol
On one hand I like that there are secrets, on the other hand I know that I can see everything the regular classes can do and I was aware of GD before launch. I'm sure a lot of people will go Dragon Bloodline into Dragon Disciple and then into this path but honestly that seems redundant. If anything I think it's really good for a martial character, maybe even a strength monk. Depends on what special armor effects, if any, carry over. It would work with a caster but you're not getting anything special from it vs. Angel or Lich.
Yeah, probably want to do something strength-based. Fighters, paladins, rangers, Magus, and cavaliers would end up wasting class features based on weapons or mounts. Barbarians and monks would be quite good. Both classes can eventually use full attack actions on charges, making great use of the dragons various natural weapons. I'd also be curious to see how monk unarmed damage scales as a dragon. But I'm thinking a Slayer going into Gold dragon might just break the game. The massive strength bonuses with like five or six attacks at full BAB while applying Slayer bonus damage on each attack feels really dirty.
@@MrGouldilocks do you know if spellstrike works in dragon form? the bonuses still seem really tempting for a magus though even without the gold dragon form
Elemental rampager druid with the shapeshifting and natural weapon mythic talents. Use the 3 free feats for weapon spec, greater weapon spec and greater weapon focus. Or combat maneuvers.
@@txflood2519 Those feats don't sound as useful when you have so many different types of attacks in the dragon form
Actually I think its better for full casters than martials. The base attack bonus for every gold dragon is the same, no matter their class, so obviously classes with 1/2 BAB progression benefit more from this. Not only that, gold dragon gives a major buff to all damage dice from spells, not something martials get much use out of.
If you play something like an abyssal sorcerer into gold dragon not only are you suddenly the strongest martial character around you're also the highest damage dealing caster around.

Question: does it make sense to make a character with a Dragon Bloodline if you're planning on going this path? Is it superfluous?
Or do some benefits maybe stack? Most of all, I wonder whether the game takes it into account in terms of narrative when you go this route.
How does the Gold Dragon form compare to the lesser abilities like Dragonkind I or II?
It's redundant. You want to pick a class that wants to be a dragon, but doesn't pay from its power budget to become one.
Can't decide between Angel or Dragon, but also can't decide between Paladin or Cavalier.
Bright side is you seem to get to keep your Angel spellbook when you take this path.
@@hunterrhoades1813 That's cool, but I was thinking more if I play a Paladin I'd go Angel and I'd go Dragon for Cavalier.

How does the half-dragon form look on Tieflings and Kitsune? Does it replace their normal tails, or is it a horrible clipping nightmare?

They're literally just the regular feats with no restrictions

Can you disable the wings in the appearance options? I much prefer the more subtle look like Terendelev in her human form. TBH so far it feels like there are too many characters with wings and legs and stuff. It's kind of immersion breaking for me. Feel like i've teamed up with the victoria secret runway models, or i'm playing PoE with everyone running about in their wings micro transactions lol

Thanks for the explanation. I don't know enough of the rules but I bet with three free feats without prerequisits you could make some pretty broken builds.
im on my azata path, if I go to gold dragon path will I lose my dragon companion ?
Are your natural attacks as a dragon considered magic for overcoming damage resistance? Does the +5 for any weapon granted by the path include your natural attacks?

It bugged out for me, becoming gold dragon locked me out of Dragon Disciple levels.
@@kutlumzrak2689 well I a just become commander of the crusade at lvl6 (pure sorcerer so far), so I hope that if it is a recurring bug it will get fixed by the time I get there in my playthrough.
BTW: I love that there is respec included in main game and I don't have to install any mods for that (even though you can now change even race, gender, all stats and alignments)
Hm....in the Kingmaker I'm following a build that allows me to turn my sorcerer into a dragon for a long time but this game I think I will be more free to pick up a different class because I can become a dragon anyway and I'm sure as all hells going to go with this mythic path one day especially since I always wanted to go as a gold dragon instead.
besides waaaay more powerful than sorcerer dragon or becoming a dragon with any transforming spell.
@@omniburrito That's what I thought. And that build from Kingsmaker makes dragon viable on higher lvls, much later into a game so I suppose with mythic path it'd be around the similar time when I can go more draconic. I think I will end up as a more martial class since they are far easier and more intiutive for me to build in games with such variety as Pathfinder despite me usually going for a mage classes.
I wonder, can you enlarge yourself further with something like frightful aspect or does the dragon form and this effect not stack?
Does it work well with magus? is there half dragon form bonuses to STR and do you lose it when you complete transformation? also can you use spell strike in dragon form?
works well with my sword saint, haven´t actually tested spellstrike yet. but it works with other magus features like, enchanting weapon.

So do I lose any spells or equipment bonuses while in dragon form? Curious what kind of stuff transfers over to the form. And when you say permanent transformation does that mean at that point you are stuck as a dragon? Or just that it's no longer just a transformation.
You get a visual half dragon appearance, I showed it here, the gold dragon form is different, and bonuses of the same type don't stack but these are mostly size category bonuses and will stack with most everything
Gold dragon will work fine with a lot of classes. But if we want to optimize it I think we just lean all the way into the absurd strength bonuses and build a bruiser that's going to rush into melee and smash everything in sight.
We're going to want a strength-based martial class. And the only classes that come to mind that don't waste class features when transformed are monks, barbarians, and slayers.
It's not hard to imagine a Slayer with gold dragon mythic path dealing 500 or so damage with a full attack action. You're probably looking at at least 40 strength, six attacks per round at full BAB, Slayer bonus damage on each attack, +5 natural weapons. It's scary to even think about.
Actually as your BAB and HP get maxed its more optimal to play non martial up to this point like casters and especially rogues for those personal buffs and sneak attack.
@@SomeGuy-sd4kp Slayers do get sneak attack. They're also far more accurate than rogues. I also don't understand what you mean. You can't have too many hit points or base attack bonus, and there is no maximum for either of them. And I'm definitely not going to take any levels outside of Slayer or barbarian or whatever once I'm already high level.
@@MrGouldilocks Gold Dragon increases your base attack to 25 if it is below it, which it will always be as base attack can only go up 1 per level.
It also changes all your hit dice to D12 which only barbarians get.
That means no matter what class you take you will get the same HP as a barbarian would have at that level (400+) and a full base attack. So why take classes whos feature is to give this instead of other abilities when you get it for free once you become a dragon?
@@SomeGuy-sd4kp oh wow, thank you for the information. Then I absolutely stand corrected and you're right with your initial response. A spellcaster or rogue type character would benefit more from the attack bonus and hit Dice than a barbarian for example that already has a good attack bonus and hit die.
What about half dragon form, is it in the game? And what type of build would you say this path is designed for?
Half dragon is the visual change and I showed it, personally I'd go something more melee focused
For a Feral Champion Warpriest archetype on the Gold Dragon path does Sacred Claws effect your Gold Dragon form?
I love it but will I lose my character portrait if I choose the Gold Dragon Mythic path?
It's a choice, you can keep your old one if you want

Seems to be a path that turn casters into martial machine. Does the bab increase work on normal form? And is the dragon form an ability at will or has charges per day?

The mythic path stuff is quite different, and I don't think the regular transform spells are gold
as a magus would spellstrike work in dragon form? also which feats improve its claw/bite attacks?
Ok, so all my magus abilities and many relevant combat feats like weapon finesse/piranha strike seem to apply to gold dragon. can buff claws like any other magus weapon.
Does 1d10 change apply to kinetic blasts?
What do you consider the best class or class combination for this path? I started with a monk, only to realize that Gold Dragons are NG instead o LG in this game, so the path would prevent me from gaining more levels. I retrained as an elemental specialist wizard witht the loremaster prestige class, I hope that's a good choice.
I almost never use this. It's got some strong abilities but but its all very general whereas other mythics let you do more specific stuff, so I can't say I've messed around with it enough to give a more informed opinion. With the recently fixed spell dice change it gives, I could see a caster being cool but havent tested it.
@@MortismalGaming Thanks for your answer. That was my idea too and a dragon can cast spells but can't wield weapons, so the transformation seems to be more useful for casters than most martial classes. The loremaster gives access to some feats otherwise out of reach and the hit die increase is good for otherwise squishy wizards as well.

It doesnt make sense to me that Gold Dragon doesn't come with a spellbook you can merge, I mean their bloodline literally creates lineages of mages. But I guess Gold Dragon would be too OP then on top of their buffs? As it stands, it is great for melee casters/magical tank-melee dps rather than like a caster sorcerer if you wanted to go full bloodline into this mythic path.
Know your post is old, but I was thinking maybe instead of merging. It could just increase your spell level by +5 or +8 for saves and allow you to pick an extra spell or two per level while allowing you to automatically quicken all spells. I think also it would be nice to say you can cast up to level four or five cleric and arcane spells automatically

Yes you do lose everything from azata.
How late in the game do you get mythic rank 10? What level/act?
Last act, you have to do a bunch of fetch quest to get from 8 to 10 instant with dragon. It´s so worth tho

@@Vorleh The cheese one is in a cellar in drezen, the flowers are in an area in the world wound that appears once the quest starts, the notes should be in the ineluctable prison somewhere.

A good path for a paladin like me
Until you realize it locks you to neutral good alignement:(
I had paladin save set up to which unlocked the gold dragon myth path. I wanted first to try out the angel mythic path and after that go back to the save and try out the gold dragon mythic path but then lost all my paladin powers. I then realized that my alignement was changed to neutral good by the mythic path for some reason.
So the dragon wings are in addition to any wings your character might already have? That looks kinda cringe-y. It would be better if the wings from the mythic path replaced those the character already has. Seeing the angel wings and dragon wings clipping into each other isn't amazing.
Do you lose the azata companion?

I think Angel is probably the closest temperment-wise, although you do get a dragon buddy as an Azata. I do know what you mean though
Angel obviously. Each metallic dragon have element and aligment tied to its colour. Golden dragons use both holy and fire as and they are good aligned just like angels.

Is gold dragon worth doing as a wizard or other spellcaster?
Yes, it makes any spell dice that isnt a d10 now a d10(example, all missiles in magic missile now are d10s instead of d4) and if it does more than d10 it gets a whopping plus one damage per dice in the spell, and yes thats for multi-hit rays as well each one will gain the bonus damage. I imagine if you did some kind of arcane trickster gold dragon you would just completely delete things with spells.

You'll wind up with weaker gold dragon stuff, no dragon feats, no full transformation, and not get the last 3 ranks of the other path either
Now that there is dragon shifters, the gold dragon path feel kind of useless.

Because Swarm That Walks is the evil counterpart of the Gold Dragon path. They just didn't want a simple mirror path.
What's the point of the Gold dragon path, why not just play a good dragon bloodrager?
you become an actual full dragon with unlimited ability to transform with a large increase in all relevant stats and the immunities granted to real dragons. the bloodrager and any other class going this route is cosplaying as a dragon using limited dragon abilities with only their basic character stats to back them up. the cosplay dragon route is great if you want to get as close to the dragon play style as possible early game since the gold dragon path is late game. beyond that it serves no real purpose though.

Yes because can't get gold dragon till mythic rank 8 so have to pick a path before then at mythic rank 3

I find gold dragon to be very weak, you can just take any of the dragon kind III abilities, and they are arguably a lot stronger. The lore thou is alright but hardly worth all the excitement
