Connor, Dom and Erica - congrats on another awesome episode! Gates was a lovely guest, she sure has had some incredible experiences over the course of her life! She seems like a great conversationalist as well. No doubt in my mind her students gained alot from her as a teacher. It was very cool to see her, Connor and Dominic discuss the many facets of/approaches to acting, especially as someone completely alien (pun intended) to the craft itself. Really enjoyed her insight about navigating the industry as a woman as well, I'm sure it has been no easy task, especially back in the 80s. Never would've guessed she had that kind of music taste either, but I think it's pretty rad. I wouldn't mind talking music with her! All in all, another great episode of the Pod. Very excited to see what you have in store for us next week! Happy Shuttlepod Sunday one and all...and happy birthday Connor! I hope you have a fantastic day! 🥳🖖🎉🍃💚
Thank you for being you Gates. This was riveting. And I feel like there was still so much more to learn. Hope to see more of you on these pods. Or Heaven forbid in a legacy production 🙏🏻 Love the podcast 'InvestiGates'
Fascinating show. It’s brilliant to see all the actors together, and to think they are all in their 70’s!! When I was a boy, people of that age looked sooooo very different!!! It gives me hope, as a man who is now 62 ( just!). It’s good to hear their experiences and their early lives. I’m so impressed by this show.
I love Gates! She is so talented and has such an incredible history in the arts and with teaching, plus she is so smart, funny, caring, and easy on the eyes.
I've only known Gates from her work on Star Trek. She's so much more than that! Thanks for another great interview, and for opening up a whole new aspect of Trek fandom to me. All these podcasts are so great. LLAP!
I hate this new way of shooting shows. Everything is so dark. The image starts to pixelate, if that's the right word. And the sound isn't that great either. I always have to have the subtitles running. For context I'm watching these on a tablet or phone. I don't have a big screen tv, but I think I'm not the only one.
@@hbl142I can't watch during the day because so many scenes in sci-fi are dark... because my home has too much natural lighting for sci-fi 😂. And then there's the low voice mumbling of lines now because mics are so good. This is every sci-fi show now... except maybe The Orville. I'm also on team subtitles.
Picard S1-S2-S3 is doing wonders for elderly actors having the opportunity to do good work demonstrating their lifetime of skills. All the NG crew come across great in the show.
All these actors have had such interesting lives! I find it fascinating, and when I go back and watch any Trek, I am able to see them differently, they have more depth. I love Shuttlepod Show! Thank you 😊!
Another wonderful episode. Listening to these people for the first time has been lovely and eye opening. Such fascinating lives, I could listen all day.
I thought the Picard and Beverly dynamic and scenes, the confrontation, the silent realization, all of it, was the best writing in Trek in a long time, as far as scene writing and dialogue, maybe EVER. So whatever balance they struck in those discussions, they nailed it. Picard's and Beverly's point of views are both done so well
Truly an amazing episode with the one and only Dr. Crusher. So cool you added my name to the closing credits - I really feel a part of this show. I love everything that you guys are doing!
Dominic, Connor, Gates--What I love the most about your podcast is the opportunity it provides me to see who you all are as people, which in turn gives me a calibration on how you're different from your characters; plus it reveals what died-in-the-wool artsies you all (of course) are, which is important to me since I'm one too (composer/arranger). Actors are a world unto themselves, but I like to think of us musicians as their 'kissing cousins.' Wonderful show again this week, everyone! Love you all (Erica and Mark too)--Don
absolutely wonderful! I've listened to Gates' podcast, "InvestiGates," and couldn't get enough. It was fun to see the tables turned and hear her talk about herself. What an incredible interview C and D - love this show and love the connection to Star Trek and I very much appreciate the honesty your guests have brought to the room. Keep it up - please!!
How strange is it that I felt this huge connection to the fact that my back yard ran up to the school where I went to Kindergarden? Why is walking to school so unusual now? Loved this!!!
The wonderful thing about young people being inspired to become a doctor because of Dr. Crusher is that she had very high integrity as a doctor so she was inspiring that in them as well. We need all of that we can get in this world. I'm really sorry to hear Gates' is going through a two+ year remodel. That's got to be frustrating. I'm a tileman (37 years) and I get bothered to hear such things. If she lived near Burbank I'd offer to help.
This was wonderful, as all of these pod casts are. Such great guests. I love ALL Trek and I love that Shuttle pod Show has guests from all of the Trek world. Love you all, thank you for this show!! Gates is so interesting.
YAY!!!! This is my first "new" episode since subbing and randomly playing the highlight episodes that have the most trek-ness to the interviews hahaha. Love the Armin episode!!!
I met Gates in Montreal years before Picard and asked her if she would ever do anything Star Trek again and she said something like only from the retirement home. Lol A truly beautiful women.
Took me forever to figure out why Gates McFadden was so alluring to me. While the character portrayed by Marina Sirtis was not, even though the writers had her fill that role. Gates McFadden is a dancer. That poise, movement, and confidence comes through without saying a word. IMHO & YMMV. Multiple superlative praises to you Miss McFadden. Thank you.
Just wanted to say thank you so much for everyone of these wonderful gems! This podcast always makes my day! Such a privilege to hear from every one of these incredible guests! his is such a great show. I came for the Conner and Dominic cause I love Enterprise. What it turns out to be is a great show for successful actors to talk about their lives and the profession. So much better than Inside the Actors Studio.
@@miller-joel i get that feeling too. I wonder if/when the new trek actors get invited they will ever address the change of tone/cursing/dread of their shows.
@@miller-joel I'd rather have guests on to talk about what they're comfortable/willing to talk about than feel pressured to talk about a particular thing, or not be on at all. You can see Connor & Dominic try to probe guests on the various episodes (like here with Gates), and if someone doesn't want to get into particulars of a situation they don't, and the topic isn't forced. To me, this show isn't the typical industrial Hollywood interview where someone has to flog their next book/show/movie/etc. in a set amount of time, and the interviewer(s) are often times trying to either get gossip or force a BFF connection with someone. TSS to me feels like a fireside dinner conversation Star Trek talent would have when they bumped into each other at a convention where fans might be around.
@@miller-joel It’s a shame to see it as wasted potential, as if the actors, producers, and writers interviewed (and Dominic and Connor themselves) “owe” it to the fans to air dirty laundry. Honestly, their Birman interview did plenty of that, though, if you absolutely must have it. He answered a lot more than I expected him to. It’s not often that you get to hear your favorite actors just talk about their careers in a fairly candid manner. Why push for the drama when most of them have had so many other interesting things that happened to them?
@@miller-joel I think you mistook me for the other person replying to your comment. 🤨 This was the first time I addressed you. And perhaps if that’s your stance, you should examine the way you phrased things because reading the exchange between you and the other person, that is how I took it.
@@miller-joel Well, in your reply you said I “keep” getting it wrong. So again, perhaps you might want to rephrase even that reply if you don’t want to confuse people. I think you’re not phrasing things the way you think you are.

Just fabulous, thank you for this! Any chance of getting Scott Bakula in the seat, would love to hear his stories.
Thank you Hal for all the kind words! You have a fantastic day, too!
Thank you for being you Gates. This was riveting. And I feel like there was still so much more to learn. Hope to see more of you on these pods. Or Heaven forbid in a legacy production 🙏🏻
Love the podcast 'InvestiGates'
Fascinating show. It’s brilliant to see all the actors together, and to think they are all in their 70’s!! When I was a boy, people of that age looked sooooo very different!!! It gives me hope, as a man who is now 62 ( just!). It’s good to hear their experiences and their early lives. I’m so impressed by this show.
I love Gates! She is so talented and has such an incredible history in the arts and with teaching, plus she is so smart, funny, caring, and easy on the eyes.
Gates is INCREDIBLE!
It's about time that Beverly was front and center!!! She's freaking GATES McFADDEN!!! ❤
She's cute and funny! (:
I've only known Gates from her work on Star Trek. She's so much more than that! Thanks for another great interview, and for opening up a whole new aspect of Trek fandom to me. All these podcasts are so great. LLAP!
BTW, I've been listening to InvestiGates, and I got to her conversations with Wil Wheaton. OMG! She's so good! Seriously, good stuff there.
These Shuttlepot interviews of ST actors and producers are making my Sunday afternoon something to wait for. Loved it. ❤
Gates talking incredulously about how dark the sets are lit is so telling.
@hbl142 yes exactly, although I don’t watch any new Trek, I’ve seen clips.
Yeah, they’ve mistaken a dark, broody, atmospheric set with just NOT having lights. The dimness isn’t artistic, it’s just hard to watch.
They’re knocking out of the park!
Wow! Thanks for having Gates on! Picard Season 3 is AMAZING!
All these actors have had such interesting lives! I find it fascinating, and when I go back and watch any Trek, I am able to see them differently, they have more depth. I love Shuttlepod Show! Thank you 😊!
Thank you Reflexxuns!
What a fascinating interview, so interesting. Can these shows be 3-4 hours long. So much to talk about. Love it!!!
Picard's and Beverly's point of views are both done so well
Delightful conversation as always, and wonderfully produced. Thanks @The Shuttlepod Show !
Thank you, Mohamed!
It took me literally to the penultimate episode of Star Trek Enterprise for the theme song to grow on me.
We lost Enterprise too soon 💔
Hahaha! Just in time!
I still can’t believe how perfectly the theme to Perfect Strangers works with the opening titles for Enterprise.
Picard season 3 definitely by far the best trek I've seen for a very long time, I will say season 3 just amazing and it's just bloody good story
sadly only S3
Best Trek since Enterprise.
No can't be PS3 last not after the last lot of episode I've watched I'm on episode 5 ...it's bloody brilliant
Truly an amazing episode with the one and only Dr. Crusher. So cool you added my name to the closing credits - I really feel a part of this show. I love everything that you guys are doing!
Thank you Kevin! You are a part of this show! We are grateful to have you!
Thanks for a fun episode! Gates is ever charming and delightful.
What a classy lady! Love seeing her open up and giving us a chance to learn about her! Glad we got to see Dr Crusher get the screen time she deserves!
A great episode! Always wonderful to see Gates!
Absolutely thrilling! Thank you all for putting this tremendous show together.
Thank you!
absolutely wonderful!
I'm thrilled you're making these. It almost keeps me in the ST world
How strange is it that I felt this huge connection to the fact that my back yard ran up to the school where I went to Kindergarden?
That's wonderful, Andrea! Thank you.
I'm glad Dr. Crusher is getting more of the spotlight on Picard
love the show ❤❤
been a trekkie since the original ( i'm 61) and loved your show was heartbroken you were taken off after 4 yrs
so happy your here
It is a joy to watch this podcast. This was another great show!
Ms. McFadden was another interesting guest with a fantastic life experience.
FABULOUS
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@ShuttlepodShow Thank you for always taking the time to acknowledge your fans. 🖖🏾🖖🏾🖖🏾🖖🏾🖖🏾
I am looking forward to future shows
I sooooo love her! She is so bright, more beautiful today than on Next Gen! Gates is so well rounded! Love her bad!
YAY!!!! This is my first "new" episode since subbing and randomly playing the highlight episodes that have the most trek-ness to the interviews hahaha.
Love the Armin episode!!!
Welcome back!
I met Gates in Montreal years before Picard and asked her if she would ever do anything Star Trek again and she said something like only from the retirement home. Lol
A truly beautiful women.
Fabulous interview Shuttlepod Show!! Gates is so lovely and interesting
Thank you.
Wow, y’all are so funny. There’s so much about Gates I didn’t know that she was nice enough to tell us about too. Thank you!
Just wanted to say thank you so much for everyone of these wonderful gems! This podcast always makes my day! Such a privilege to hear from every one of these incredible guests! For a massive lifelong Star Trek fan like me and others around the globe you really are spoiling us! Thank you so much and keep up the incredible good work every one of you! Definitely one of my favourite podcasts ever! Thank you! Lisa, Scotland 😁👌🙏❤️
OMG, Erica is so cute! 😆 She stole my heart! 💝 This is my very first Shuttlepod video, but gonna definitely come back for more, guys! Gates(Cheryl) looks stunning too! 😊
Happy Birthday, Connor!!!! You are an awesome actor!
Definately one of my favourite characters and Star Trek actors of all time whose podcast I've also been enjoying since launch. Fantastic episode as usual! Thanks for these sincerely!
his is such a great show.
TNG is "my" Star Trek so I couldn't wait to get into this one.
Another fun episode! - Cheers.
I hope more and more fans get to know this show cause its done with such love for Star Trek. No superficial fluff or gimmicks, just people having a conversation and seeing these actors in a relaxed atmosphere. It's a real pleasure to watch these discussions and appreciate all the effort of those behind the scenes for arranging these meet ups and putting this together.
I also hope we get to see Scott on here, that would be a blast, as well as Frakes and Sir Patrick of course...in fact come to think of it I can't think of any Trek Alumni I wouldn't want to see
They just sit around and shoot the shit: I love it. Very casual and fun and light hearted, but also in depth and personal.
Wonderful way to get to know the Trek stars!
I saw Gates and Patrick in a show together in LA while Next Generation was on. I can't recall the name of it at the moment, but they were both wonderful in it. I also recall our Ford Tempo broke down in traffic on the way home. That wasn't wonderful, but as horrible as that was, I am still glad I went.
I think it was called (So Many People Have Heads.) or something to that effect. It was over 30 years ago, lol!
I have been banking this episode for a quiet time. Wow! Sooooo good. What an incredible story. And I love the story about TNG casting. Thank You!!!!
I hate how dark the sets are now and I have no idea why. Good job listening Dom!
I enjoy how this show invariably focuses on the craft of acting.
Wow - I think I need to learn more about the arts from this episode. I feel like a 3rd grader in a world of college graduates. Thanks for this eye-opening episode!
As lovely as I imagined. No disappointment. Great Interview!
Crapping on what? The Enterprise D? Did we miss something?
I am loving the conversations on this show. You come for Star Trek and you get talks about acting methods and styles from all these amazing performers. Unreal!!!!
Smart, witty and straight forward are just a few words that to me describes Gates. Another brilliant episode, great questions and above all FUN. Thank you 😊 again and keep these episodes coming. 🍷🍷Ed from South Australia
I started watching The Shuttlepod Show about 2 months ago, I love it!!!! THANKS Conner and Dominic.!
"Life is complicated." Forever true for every persona, both on and off screen.
Thank you guys for doing all this :) the love is loved!!!
Love Gates, great episode. Thanks again for all the work doing these pods!
Connie Colvin might not have liked this episode but it led to be discovering this podcast for the first time and it's AWESOME 🎉🎉🎉
HAHAHA! Well, then we thank Connie and her all caps addiction. She's getting rolled over there on Twitter. I don't think she was being mean, I just don't think she realizes. Welcome, Christopher! It's a pleasure to have you!
Another wonderful Sunday afternoon/evening overdosing on 'Trek'. Gates was magically wonderful-- as always. Thanks so much for the show.
Damn. Gates! what a treat everyone. Loving your podcast folks.
Guys you just keep getting better and better
Love hearing how people got their breaks in the biz 🤗. Another superb show 👌
Oh man, what a great episode, Gates is the best. These are so fun to watch on a lazy Sunday, perfect cup of coffee and relax entertainment.
That's why I like the books, Connor, I know they aren't canon (whatever though, it's all make believe anyway) but Trip Lives! and it's perfect. 🖖😁
The Enemy, Remember Me, High Ground, The Host, Sub Rosa, Cause And Effect, Suspicions, Descent, Ethics, All Good Things Part 2. Those are 10 episodes in which she was the focus and there are probably more that I just can't remember at the moment.
Dead Can Dance and Rammstein? I knew there was a reason I loved this woman. Best episode of TNG with her was when Beverly was trapped in the collapsing warp bubble. She didn't get enough quality screen time.
I love her more than ever after this podcast ❤️ Can't wait for the Convention in Vegas!
Great interview fantastic show I'm loving this channel keep up the great work!
This show is EXCELLENT!
Good job guys. This was a good interview, she was comfy which is awesome. A true artist.
An absolute delight to listen to Gates, amazing work guys keep up the good work!
Props to the Green Sister Gates!!! Enjoyed her in Picard. Always good to get background about one of the TNG actors. lol Was not expecting Gates to be a Rammstein fan. Adieu it is.
You guys really hit on something wonderful with this format. Another wonderful show, thanks.
I am also from Cuyahoga Falls, OH and I remember finding out that Gates Macfadden was from here. I made it in my head the Dr Crusher was an Ohio girl. Loved that brief moment where she talked about home
It is so cool that you have guests of all Star Trek - this is such a great show and Gates was a fabulous and special guest. Especially Dom and Connor, but also Erica and Mark - you create such a nice and pleasant atmosphere for your show, and your team creates the perfect surroundings. It’s a treat to watch! By the way, I like it very much, that Erica is more in the picture and participates more in the talking lately.
Thank you, Laani!!
