I feel so blessed finding your website. We just moved back to Indiana a few years ago to refinish our last home before meeting our Lord in heaven. My husband developed a rare cancer that we will be testing every 3 months to see if ii comes back, we are very active, but depression always finds a way to creep in even though we stand strong in Prayer. Jennifer you have been a life line in helping me deal with all the unknowns. I find peace while watching sew and create. Thank you for being here and helping me keep my mind off the all-consuming disease that is trying to take my husband from me. Our faith is strong and we have already been given lots of miracles and finding you helps me take my mind off all the pain. May God Bless you and Yous. Thank you for helping me through this trying time.
Thank you Jennifer for showing how to pin the pleats on the top of the towel. I found that tip very helpful. Lovely towels, great for gifts any time of the year.
I sewed the button on the front for decoration but, used some Velcro on the back side of the strap. It makes it great easy to take on and off the oven handle. And, you can adjust it for your handle size.
I finally made this kit, following this updated tutorial! I did topstitch at 1/8" around my topper after it was attached to the towel, and also on the top of the topper strip, just a try for another look! I made a buttonhole and button fastening too. It turned out really pretty and easy to sew with your extra tips to follow! I made a plastic template to trace on wadding again. We don't get that towel fabric here in UK, but I have some towels and waffle cotton tea towels to try. Thanks again...and I did buy the hot ruler and love it👏🏻❤️
These towels are beautiful. Thank you, Jennifer for taking the time to update this tutorial. I just received my hot ruler in the mail and I can't wait to use it. Now if I could just figure out how to fit one of those Panasonic irons into my budget I would be all kinds of happy and productive. 📱✂☺
This is a great project for a beginner as you practice pleats and a button hole, both are needed for dressmaking. Thank you for the tutorial. I got my kitchen towel done today.
Hi Jen, I have made these towels before and so that I can see both sides I put cute buttons on both sides so that I can turn it over, it is so darling using different prints and designs for all the holidays.
Got this kit on the 1st run....they where loved by all family and friends for Christmas. This year gifts are bowl cozy got template in mail yesterday. Thanks Shabby Fabric for the great ideas.
This is really a nice tutorial. I have been watching in bed after a busy day of care giving. I had fallen asleep three times! It's so relaxing to me. I am going to make these for the Christmas Holidays and my gift giving. Thanks for a top quality tutorial.
I love these towels. I ordered the kit and I plan on making some for holiday gifts for friends and family. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. The instructions for the towel aren’t exactly clear in some parts but, your tutorial is perfect.
Y’all think of every detail in your video tutorials. Great explanations & well filmed videos. Always learn something & know exactly what to do to achieve the same results as those finished projects you show.
I love these. My 52 year old Singer machine would never get through all those layers. Also you wouldn't believe how many levers & knobs I would have to adjust to get a decent buttonhole with trial & error. It's not as easy to make a buttonhole on mine as on the newer machines. I would use Velcro for sure. Great job Jen on this video.
I love these too. I have a singer 62 year old 401a and I think it would go thru this fine. I want to get an old kenmore from the 50's.....they are power houses...or at least some are. I totally get the velcro though.
Thank you for this tutorial! I love this towel design. However, I did need to modify it to keep the batting from wadding up. I cut the batting 1/4” longer and brought it down over the seam. After sewing and turning right side out, I topstitched the top of the band to hold the batting down. Works perfectly!
I’ve just placed an order for these, looking forward to this project for gifts. You really do relay the instructions very clear. Have a blessed day. Thank you, 🙋♀️🌷
As with all your other tutorials, great job! I love watching you make things! Definitely need to get one of those hot rulers! I had never seen these before! Thanks for sharing!
This is great. I can see doing custom embroidery to enhance it. Like the person's initials or a cute clever saying. Or even some pretty florals on the towel itself.
Jen you are so detailed, love them so much, how do they wash up without quilting them in the middle. I love all your videos, you are an amazing teacher!!🥰💗💗💗
Thank you so much for watching! We are happy to hear that you enjoy watching these videos! I am not sure how they would wash up without quilting them in the middle, however, I do know that when you do toss these in the wash they could be a little wrinkly so you want to make sure to maybe hang them to dry and then flat iron them when they are done drying. - Yajaira
Since one only sees the front side of the project when encasing the top of the towel inside the pocket of the decorative topper, be sure to check the back side of the encasement to make sure the stitches have caught the back side of the topper ensuring that the pocket is fully sewn shut, front AND back. Instead of a button/buttonhole closure, another option is to use snaps. Being in cowboy country, I use snaps on a lot of my household accessories to give them a little western flair.
I also love this pattern. I was confused at first with the topper about do I put the raw edges, but I did fand it was perfect. The only mistake I made was my fabric had a design and one of the was upside down. So I'm thinking next time I should make one upside down and the other piece of fabric the opposite and it should be ok. I love learning and have watched so many of your tutorials. Thank you !
Hi there, I’m new to your channel and I’m loving all your craft projects. I’ve been watching the no sew baubles and the cathedral tree decoration and I love them and love the colours xxx Well I just wanted to say hi 👋 and I’m from England xxx
What was the ruler call when you used it on the bottom trim for the towel. The one that can withstand the heat of the iron Love this idea. I am going to try it on the terry cloth dish towels
Hi Susan- We just love our hot ruler! It's called the Clover Press Perfect Hot Ruler and you can find it here: www.shabbyfabrics.com/p52324/clover-press-perfect-hot-ruler We look forward to seeing your finished towels. 💖 -Michelle
If you don't want to put in a buttonhole, sew the button on the flap (where you think the button should be when "fastened") and use Velcro on the inside of the flap and base to fasten to the oven handle. 💖🌞🌵😷
Thank you for the video, my only hitch I found that I caught myself was directional fabric. I cut wrong and had to seam (I bought a kit) and it's 8" wide and 11" tall for the topper piece, and with directional fabric, put the trim A piece on the bottom of the fabric you are using for the front.
Thanks for the tutorial! Is there a way we can buy just the pattern for this? I have my own fabric I want to use for this, but a pattern would be super helpful.
I did my first kit towel I bought from shabby fabrics. It was fabulous. I had so many compliments!! I have a question to see if you sell the waffle weave towels that are in the kit so I can recreate these with my own fabrics? Or where can I get more of those towels? You do a fabulous job on your tutorial! Thank you!
Hi Caren, I love making the towels too! They are so fun to make and they always bring compliments. All of our towels are being used in kits at this time. If we have some extra available in the future, we will offer them individually. There are so many towel kits to choose from. You can see them all here: www.shabbyfabrics.com/Kits/Towel-Kits.aspx Thank you so much for watching and thank you of the compliment. I'm so glad you enjoyed the tutorial! :) Jen
I love the video on making these towels, but I wish, for once, you could supply the pattern and let me choose to use my fabrics or purchase fabric from Shabby Fabrics.
Hi Virgie! We unfortunately at this time we are not selling the Hanging Towel Kit - Towel and Batting, which is a Quilt As You Go by June Tailor Batting Kit. There is no pattern as your instructions are included in the preprinted batting. We apologize for this inconvenience. - Sophie
Isn't this project so fun? If you want to use your own fabrics, you'll just need to get the pre-printed batting and toweling. We don't currently have this available outside of the fabric kits, but you'll want the June Tailor Hanging Towel pack. - Morgan
I LOVE your channel ! I watch some of the videos twice as I am making the projects ;)) The only trouble that is with these towels is when they get dirty and we have to wash them . Many a times these white towels need a bit of chlorine to come back to their bright white beauty.
Our Bernina 770QE has a built-in walking foot called a "dual feed", and we're using the 97D patchwork foot. We're happy you enjoy this project! Thank you for watching. 💖 -Michelle
Unfortunately, we do not have just the pattern available as it is available inside of the kits. However we do have a free download to another towel kit here is the link to that: shabbyfabrics.com/Assets/Downloads/CleanHandsWarmHeart_forDownload.pdf - Yajaira
We're glad you enjoy these beautiful hanging towels. We do not have a "pattern" for them as the June Tailor Quilt As You Go Hanging Towel batting is the "pattern". You can view our selection of these here: www.shabbyfabrics.com/search?sortOrder=6&q=Hanging+Towel+Kit 💐 -Michelle
Hi Anna! We make the fabric covered buttons for the kits. If you got the batting pack and are using your own fabrics, you can find fabric covered buttons online or make them. We don't have a tutorial on that, but I'll let our team know you'd like to see one! - Morgan
I'm going to make these only I'm going to make a buttonhole but no button. I have to hang mine higher because I have a dog and do not want him walking by the oven or cabinet and brushing his doggie hairs off on it 🙃
That is the Clover Press Perfect Hot Ruler and you can find it here: www.shabbyfabrics.com/p52324/clover-press-perfect-hot-ruler Thank you for watching! 💖 -Michelle
We're using the Bernina Dual Feed system, which functions similarly to a walking foot. It helps to feed the fabric evenly through, and we use it most often on projects with extra bulk. We won't typically use this for basic piecing or appliqué. - Morgan
It’s a Bernina. They are simply the best. Well made and sews beautiful stitches. They make the sewer look Great!! Find you a Bernina dealer and you’ll never look back!!!!
Hello! We have the table at standing height for video, but much prefer sewing when we're sitting. We do sell the pressing mat! You can find it here: www.shabbyfabrics.com/wool-pressing-mat-14-x-14-P67892.aspx - Morgan
Hi Jani! The long ruler can be found here: www.shabbyfabrics.com/creative-grids-2-x-24-ruler-cgr224-P72962.aspx Let me know if I can help you find something else. I'm happy to send links! :) - Morgan
The link you sent was not for The ruler I was talking about. The one I was talking about is when she was pressing over the half inch onto the ruler and the ruler doesn’t smell it look like cardboard. I have a short one but I really like the long one that she was using.
@@janidemaree9704 oh, sorry about that! That's the Clover Press Perfect Hot Ruler. Such a great tool. You can find that one here: www.shabbyfabrics.com/clover-press-perfect-hot-ruler-P52324.aspx Let me know how else I can help! :) - Morgan
I purchased this kit and loved the towel so much!!! Anyone know a source to get the towels from. I have ordered 3 different waffle weave towels from amazon and they are all wrong. : (
Hi Jane - We don't have the preprinted towel batting available by itself, but we do have a variety of these June Tailor Hanging Towel Kits available here: www.shabbyfabrics.com/c5404/quilt-kits/by-type/towel-kits ❤️ -Michelle
Do you use a walking foot making this towel topper.I love the towels but can you get the template for the topper from your website, please. I am not in the USA so don't know where to get the kits from. Thank you.
Hi Elizabeth - We're using the engaged dual feed feature on our Bernina, which does mimic a walking foot. We do not have the individual templates for these towels available, just kits: www.shabbyfabrics.com/c5404 -Michelle
Thank you Michelle, for answering me. I will try with an ordinary sewing foot and then go to my walking foot if it won't work. I have a very old Bernina. I have managed to find a kit here in Australia. So thank you so very much.

I really appreciate your videos since I’m a visual person and struggle with pattern reading!

Thank you Jennifer for showing how to pin the pleats on the top of the towel. I found that tip very helpful. Lovely towels, great for gifts any time of the year.

You can use studs on top or Velcro and put in a button on front

I love how you added the pins in the towel for the pleating. I didn't do that, but I will on my next towel. Thanks for the tip!

You can actually slit the buttonhole with a seam ripper. Alot easier to get in there than with the scissors ✂️. Super cute 😍

Hi, how are you doing
Jen you are so detailed, love them so much, how do they wash up without quilting them in the middle. I love all your videos, you are an amazing teacher!!🥰💗💗💗
Thank you so much for watching! We are happy to hear that you enjoy watching these videos! I am not sure how they would wash up without quilting them in the middle, however, I do know that when you do toss these in the wash they could be a little wrinkly so you want to make sure to maybe hang them to dry and then flat iron them when they are done drying. - Yajaira
Hello, how are you doing my friend
Since one only sees the front side of the project when encasing the top of the towel inside the pocket of the decorative topper, be sure to check the back side of the encasement to make sure the stitches have caught the back side of the topper ensuring that the pocket is fully sewn shut, front AND back. Instead of a button/buttonhole closure, another option is to use snaps. Being in cowboy country, I use snaps on a lot of my household accessories to give them a little western flair.
Great ideas, thank you for sharing them! And love using the snaps to add a little western flair - that is adorable! - Morgan
That's an awesome idea! I have a straight stitch only machine and was wondering how to do the buttonhole. You just made my day!
Hello, how are you doing?
I also love this pattern. I was confused at first with the topper about do I put the raw edges, but I did fand it was perfect. The only mistake I made was my fabric had a design and one of the was upside down. I nearly did the same, but I always use a multi directional fabric on the back now, so the tab is looks right flipping over to the button. 😊

Thanks for hanging towel project this a different from one I have will be giving a tray.
Glad you like this project!! -Michelle
If you don't want to put in a buttonhole, sew the button on the flap (where you think the button should be when "fastened") and use Velcro on the inside of the flap and base to fasten to the oven handle. 💖🌞🌵😷

Thanks for the tutorial! Is there a way we can buy just the pattern for this? I have my own fabric I want to use for this, but a pattern would be super helpful.

Kam snap is much easier and quicker to release than a button. IMO it looks better than a buttonhole closure too. 👌🙏👍😉

Love this and have bought the kit. Wish you had the towel material available or provide a link for purchase.
We're glad you enjoy this tutorial! Thank you for the feedback. We'd love to see your project photos when finished! -Michelle
Button is great, but another alternative is velcro or a snap.
That would work! - Morgan
Instead of a pointed top, I would make it a rounded end. Much easier for turning. The round button fits right into the top.
Great idea!👍😊 Thank you for your comment! - Abby
I would like a pattern for the top of the towel. Do I have to buy a kit for this? Or is there a pattern just for that part?
We're glad you enjoy these beautiful hanging towels. We do not have a "pattern" for them as the June Tailor Quilt As You Go Hanging Towel batting is the "pattern". You can view our selection of these here: www.shabbyfabrics.com/search?sortOrder=6&q=Hanging+Towel+Kit 💐 -Michelle
I just bought the kit. Where to you get the fabric covered buttons or is a video on how to make them? Thank you,
Hi Anna! We make the fabric covered buttons for the kits. If you got the batting pack and are using your own fabrics, you can find fabric covered buttons online or make them. We don't have a tutorial on that, but I'll let our team know you'd like to see one! - Morgan
Love your video's. Does your company sell the 100% cotton waffle weave fabric by the yard?
Thank you so much! We don't have the waffle weave by the yard at the moment, but I'll let our team know you'd like to see that! - Morgan
I'm going to make this
How fun! We look forward to your project photos. 💖 -Michelle
I love it thank you 😊
We're happy you enjoy it. Thanks for watching! 💖 -Michelle
Love the tutorial, but I think it would be a good idea to put a button on both sides, then it would be reversible?
That's a great idea! We will let our design team know about the idea! - Yajaira
Hi Tami
I'm going to make these only I'm going to make a buttonhole but no button. I have to hang mine higher because I have a dog and do not want him walking by the oven or cabinet and brushing his doggie hairs off on it 🙃
What a great modification! -Michelle
Love this video....
Glad you enjoyed it! - Morgan
what kind of ruler are you using to press the fabric edge over a half inch?
That is the Clover Press Perfect Hot Ruler and you can find it here: www.shabbyfabrics.com/p52324/clover-press-perfect-hot-ruler Thank you for watching! 💖 -Michelle
💝✂️ I discovered a way to sew faster and easier even as a beginner, I talk more about it in my channel, I hope it helps those who need it.🎁🤗
Looks like you are using a walking foot? I am correct? Do you use that foot for all your basic sewing?
We're using the Bernina Dual Feed system, which functions similarly to a walking foot. It helps to feed the fabric evenly through, and we use it most often on projects with extra bulk. We won't typically use this for basic piecing or appliqué. - Morgan
Hello Patti
What make is your sewing machine? It is quiet, love it .

I just found this video….can you use SF 101 to help give the topper a bit more stability?
Hi Catherine - You can use that if you'd like to. We find that the batting used for these hanging towels is sufficient. Hope this helps! -Michelle
Hi there
I’m redoing my sewing room and noticed your machine is on your cutting table is this better than sitting and do you sell the iron mat ??
Hello! We have the table at standing height for video, but much prefer sewing when we're sitting. We do sell the pressing mat! You can find it here: www.shabbyfabrics.com/wool-pressing-mat-14-x-14-P67892.aspx
- Morgan
Also your cutting Matt is great where do I buy them from ??
We got the large cutting mat from Mega Mats! - Morgan
I didn’t see a link to the long ruler used under ironing. Can you send it please?
Hi Jani! The long ruler can be found here: www.shabbyfabrics.com/creative-grids-2-x-24-ruler-cgr224-P72962.aspx
Let me know if I can help you find something else. I'm happy to send links! :) - Morgan
Shabby Fabrics that isn’t the ruler I was talking about. The one she used to fold over the 1/2” of fabric then press. It looked like cardboard.
You can find that one here: www.shabbyfabrics.com/clover-press-perfect-hot-ruler-P52324.aspx
Let me know how else I can help! :) - Morgan
Hi Jani
I purchased this kit and loved the towel so much!!! Anyone know a source to get the towels from. I have ordered 3 different waffle weave towels from amazon and they are all wrong. : (
Hi Angie! Unfortunately right now we only sell the towel kits, however, they do include the waffle weave towel! Thank you for watching! - Sophie
Where can I get the pattern for the towel? Jane, interested.
Hi Jane - We don't have the preprinted towel batting available by itself, but we do have a variety of these June Tailor Hanging Towel Kits available here: www.shabbyfabrics.com/c5404/quilt-kits/by-type/towel-kits ❤️ -Michelle
Where can I get the towels? I have fabric that I have used for other kitchen items and would love to make towels to go with them
Hi Patricia. We only have these waffle towels available in the kits on our website. -Michelle
If you make a square stitch at the point..you get a point when you turn.
Thank you for sharing! - Morgan
Hi, how are you doing
Love these towels
They're so much fun to make! - Morgan
Thank you
We're happy you enjoyed this tutorial! Thank you very much for watching. -Michelle
Love your tutorials! Which model Bernina are you using?
Thank you! We're on a Bernina 770QE and we love it! - Morgan
