“Hope is killing you” Amen! Thank you, Alex! 😊 When a guy who has sparked my interest flakes on me (his first infraction) I let him know in a polite, but assertive way that it’s not cool. Then depending upon his reaction, I’ll give him a second chance. If he does it again, I’m out! And if I don’t really have much interest in him in the first place, I don’t say anything, I just stop communicating and move on. I’m not going to waste my time and energy. Unfortunately, these days flaking is more and more common, but we don’t have to accept it/excuse it just because it’s the “norm!” I don’t flake on people, it’s rude and disrespectful. And I don’t think that common courtesy is asking too much of anyone in any setting, personal or professional.

If a guy ever flakes on you, you’d be better off just blocking and deleting him. The amount of guys who turned out to be good, caring, and actually interested in me after flaking out on me and receiving a 2nd chance are ZERO. And I’m 44 years old, so it’s not like I’ve not been on enough dates. The last guy I dated flaked on me for our first date, I even knew him beforehand from work, and he still wound up being a guy only interested in a booty call after we had such a great (I thought it was at least) date. I always tell my mother, “Hope is not a course of action.” Action is everything.

This is so true! I’ve had this toxic narcissistic who’s been messing me about. Chasing me/love bombing in the beginning then making dates and cancelling last minute. Always making excuses making you crazy in the process? It’s very painful, and it is all about control,taking you for granted, coming in and out of your life when it suits him with minimal commitment having you as a side chick to boost his ego. Men like this will exhaust you. I had one cancel, forget… I didn’t respond or I reacted in a cold uninterested way. It never got better. When he asked me again to go out, I just didn‘t feel like seeing him anymore. I lost attraction but attachment maintained. Then one time I agreed seeing him but decided to cancel myself… Something was off with him. I felt empty about the connection. So I finally did something and blocked him for my peace.

Thanks Alex. You are right to be extreme. Just had a guy with lots of excuses text me for 3 weeks and no phone call. Lovebombing then finally called when I said he is lying to me. He made a date over the phone then next day says he can’t make it in time and can we video call instead and again excuses he really wants to see me. I asked him what his intentions were and he went silent. I told him I had enough GOODBYE. I really hope he doesnt reach out again. Why do they do this?

I met this guy we where together for a few months. I was very rude to him. I apologised after a few days and now he is not speaking to me.
I think u have to work on yourself first and not do it nextime. You must hold back your anger and learn to play your emotions. You can tell him in a polite way to call on his BS. I was once same like you i lose men all the time. But now i learned to be patient, i respond late or act cold when a guy did something wrong. Its works well than nagging.
