Watching these two as a 70 year old man, I thought to myself: America is going to be okay after I'm gone. With fellows like this in charge of America, all will be well.
I'm in my Matteo Lane rabbit hole and the algorithm stumbled me upon this 2hr conversation of two comic friends just getting to know each other more. And Matteo has the audacity to go "I hope I wasn't boring and didn't get to much into what I'm in to" at the end... Bro this was a 2 HOUR podcast and we just finished listening to it because it's you.
Italian, Mexican and Irish to be exact. But I swear Matteo is a Renaissance man. A graphic artist, opera singer, cook, multilingual and a deft comedian.
Mark's interviewing skills are insane, you can see how his podcast has made him the best interviewer on Flagrant we love you Mark, and we love you Mateo
had to reply to this. I’m an old guy who’s never seen the cartoon. I just saw my kid in “SpongeBob SquarePants” the musical. After hearing the kid who’s playing Squidward speak, I said “he sounds just like Nick Smith”.
OMG I must say this is the BEST Podcast Episode with thee special guest MATTEO LANE 💌 Hopefully this would be not the last with you both having a Collaborative... 💯🔥❤️
I truly enjoyed this conversation, I learned so much about music and Italy 2 of my favorite things in life. Matteo, you are never, ever boring! This was a real pleasure, thanks and yes I would def watch if Nick and Matteo came for another interview! Hahahaha that would be incredible.
This was an incredible interview, probably the best I’ve seen with Matteo. I’ve been a long time fan of his and I’m so glad UA-cam suggested this to me, I’ll be checking out the rest of your content. And, please do another with him .., I feel like you both brought out the best in one another.
That was fun and cool! Just a quick one. To casual onlookers the Celine incident with Aretha may have seemed uncouth but it was very in-keeping with the traditions of the Black Church, the call and response/shout/vamp part of the song which builds to a climatic form of praise in Gospel music. Aretha initiated it and was pushing each singer to "let loose and let God in" and catch The Spirit so to speak. She's done that in other performances many times.
What an interesting interview. I am curious now about this Mark guy, so I'll probably check out more of his content. The conversation @47:00 is great & I hope the spark we see in Mark when he clicks together that "German Shepherds are okay in my mind because they have jobs" - it's the first step in truly understanding biases and prejudices like racism and classisim.
I'm 60. Matteo's right: 20s are overrated. 30s-40s are best years. 50s are even better because you're still out there, but don't give two Fs what people think and you know how to find grace faster.
Thank you so much for the Callas Tosca explanation. I only knew bits and pieces but you put it together in context beautifully. Wow and she would have had a child to love and heir to his fortune. Wonder if she ever had price in this life.
I think I may have to subscribe to the page for the sole reason that I found another Gagnon (never met another one where I live!) Matt Gagnon here nice to meet you Mark lol
I have a close friend with a beautiful grey PB, and this dog loves to visit me! I mean he gets too excited sometimes, but no different from any other dog who gets excited, but he is never agressive!
Why does everyone read the Aretha - Celine sing off so negatively Aretha on that stage in that moment literally told Celine: “help me lift him!!” Prompting her to come forward and sing the house down with her. Before that she was trying to Coax Mariah to do it but Mariah stepped back away in respect. But Aretha wanted to have a good church sing along where everybody sings and calls and responds. Celine literally just answered Areatha’s call. When it happened Areatha smiled and literally joyfully bounced toward Celine and they had a musical praise moment. Then when it was over Celine fell back in line with other divas. It was not a slight or a sing-off it was a call and response improv and it was everything!!!
Just for the record, I really enjoyed learning about Maria Callas and what made her so special. I enjoy opera (Leontyne Price is my favorite singer) but there is a lot I don't know. Also get the biggest, most comfortable bed you can afford. We recently switched from a King to a Queen and the closer distance makes us very aware of every sound movement the other person makes, and we are both short, small people.
Oakland, CA here and pre-pandemic, they were very nice older Chinese women collecting the cans. I'd always save mine to have it ready for when I would hear someone rummaging through the apartment recycling bin early in the morning. I like to think it made for one less bin they had to dig through before they could go home and although not a single word was exchanged, the interaction was always a great day starter. Heartbreakingly, after all the violence toward Asians due COVID19, they don't come around anymore...but with groceries as expensive as they are, I am now saving all my cans.
hey mark, what is that thing you were drinking at about 5 and a half minutes in? That caffeine substitute? caffeine makes me anxious as well and I've been trying to cut back but I'm like addicted. I'm interested to look into what that might be and if it could help?
Cats supervise us to make sure we're peeing correctly, and we disappoint them every time. One of many reasons they think (know) we're incompetent fools, and graciously allow us to live in their homes.
I loved the club talk. I first went to the gay bars to support my gay friends and then later i realized the music and dancing are really good and I felt safer.
Wow…I have never been a fan of reality tv, but I can tell you right now, I would watch the hell out of a show about the couch doctor!! I want to know EVERYTHING! 🤣
Boston and Providence have the asian can/bottle collectors as well. In Boston, my experience was always a little asian lady. In Providence, its a guy in a van.
Your cat's name is so cute, my friend also has a cat named Tika which they told me means rascal/mischief in Romani. However "tikna" means little girl, daughter, small child etc. Interesting to see shared language across the globe with no obviously shared origin (Romani has Hindi roots via Eastern Europe) 🤔
I wish the background behind each person was more bland - visually it's lovely to have the decoration on the side, but when the camera is head-on, it's nice to have a less visually distracting background so you can really see the person and their expressions.
_Why isn’t Barbra Streisand touted now as much as the other magnificent female singers?_ *The short answer:* Jealousy, pettiness, control, misogyny. *The long answer:* Becuz she was A Force. She knew her worth early on, she didn’t let any of The Men in charge in the music industry take advantage of her + she beat them but at a price. Her rep was cemented as a difficult, demanding diva. Then in the ‘80s, she took on the movie industry much the same way. She wanted to do Yentl so badly + the gatekeepers tried to keep her out. So she did it in herself, she was writer, producer, director and lead actor. It should hv won an Oscar for best movie and director but the gatekeepers got her there (she did get the golden globe ). But the music did win 3 Oscar’s.
Barbra Streisand’s last name has only one “t” in it. It’s not Streistand as many people say. I also find it interesting that she writes her first name as “Barbra” instead of Barbara. 💕🐝💕
I see Matteo Lane's name on ANYthing on UA-cam and I watch it. Can't get enough of this guy.
Indeed me too
Yep
Same ! I just like hearing his thoughts on everything.
Same here 😂😂😂😂
Lol. Me too
Watching these two as a 70 year old man, I thought to myself: America is going to be okay after I'm gone. With fellows like this in charge of America, all will be well.
🥹🥹🥹
Mark and Mateo need to do a weekly podcast together, they're so good together.
Mark is hands down, crushing it. 2024 is the year of Camp.
Mark reminds me of a Danny Jones that started eating mushrooms and exploring the human experience in a different way.
Whats good people! Comments for the vibes baby
This ep is gonna be like the flintstones we gonna have a gay ole time
What happened to the original upload? I started watching seconds after I got the notif, closed the app out by accident, came back and it was gone 😱
What's up with the scuffed thumbnail?
UA-cam was down :(
LETS GO!!

we love you Mark, and we love you Mateo
I appreciate that Matteo was concerned about being funny but I love watching him in his genuine self.
So glad to learn that Mark was "raised gay." Now I can drool over him sans guilt.
It’s one of these episodes that put a smile on my face through the whole thing
BRING MATTEO BACK 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹 you guys are the best duo ❤
I love when Matteo does his Nick Squidward impressipn 😂❤
😂😂😂😂

I didn’t think Squidward could be more gay until we were introduced to Nick😂
I see Mateo, I click. 😊 Gotta look up Maria's performance now!
OMG I must say this is the BEST Podcast Episode with thee special guest MATTEO LANE 💌

Love Mateo. Your channel came up in my queue because Mateo is in algorithm. I subscribed because you are a great interviewer and adorable.
I've been a fan of both of you for awhile, and I'm living for this collab! Thank you both ❤
This was such a great episode
Commenting for the vibes
Excellent interview! Easy and effortless communication.. Wonderful❤
What an interesting interview. I am curious now about this Mark guy, so I'll probably check out more of his content.

Matteo is one of the funniest comedians I’ve seen online
I look forward to watching you two's careers flourish for decades to come
I'm 60. Matteo's right: 20s are overrated. 30s-40s are best years. 50s are even better because you're still out there, but don't give two Fs what people think and you know how to find grace faster.
This was great!! Love this conversation between you two. 👍🏼
Thank you so much for the Callas Tosca explanation. I only knew bits and pieces but you put it together in context beautifully. Wow and she would have had a child to love and heir to his fortune. Wonder if she ever had price in this life.
He retold this story word for word almost , there is a documentary about Maria callas😊
Matteo's French-Canadian accent is on point
This is what real conversation is like… such a great video.. 👍🥂
My mans left his wife with a stranger and a chainsaw like it was nothing 😂
But he was a doctor!😂
Handled it so poorly.
Never looked at Matt as a gay comedian, just a comedian that is gay.
lol this was amazing. I don't even know this host, Matteo just adds so much to every pod he guests on.
I'm almost 50.
My 30s were the best time of my life (so far).
I love those green shots too!! Great stuff.
I think I may have to subscribe to the page for the sole reason that I found another Gagnon (never met another one where I live!) Matt Gagnon here nice to meet you Mark lol
Really enjoying the pod lately
Im so excited for this shammit.
What a great interview! I learned so much in an entertaining way! ❤ Matteo!
Great concept for a podcast!
Yay. These two are a gem and yes Matteo, I looked up Liza on HSN and woooow. You're spot on. 😅😅😅😅. More more more of these two
I have a close friend with a beautiful grey PB, and this dog loves to visit me! I mean he gets too excited sometimes, but no different from any other dog who gets excited, but he is never agressive!

You had me at laying out flowers! Lolololol You two have a future or something like that!
They’re both so wholesome!!! Love
Mark straight crushing the pod game.....gave up others to pick this one up weekly!!!! Keep rocking it ❤
Man you HAVE to change the thumbnail😭😭 the way you made Mattaeo look makes him look in the early stages of jaundice 💀
“Small Chinese man collecting cans” happens here in San Francisco lol
And in Vancouver BC lol
Yep in the east bay too!
Sir!! Im soo jealous of your hair!
41:46 🤭 I’m literally watching this in my robe. I’m always chilly so it’s helpful 😄
can’t believe i watched 2 hours of a podcast only to get absolutely SHADED in the last 5 mins for being a theatre kid
Just for the record, I really enjoyed learning about Maria Callas and what made her so special. I enjoy opera (Leontyne Price is my favorite singer) but there is a lot I don't know. Matteo is always awesome!
Best ep in my opinion
Matteo’s British voice is just Michael Caine
Oakland, CA here and pre-pandemic, they were very nice older Chinese women collecting the cans. Matteo for more than 15 minutes? I can dig it.
Wife: "Did you hear me!?"
Me: "No, my favorite gay is on a podcast."
Wife: "Oh, Matteo!? I love him!"
Matteo, Gus, like most pitties, is a major empath, that's why he comforted you. They are one of the most empathetic breeds.
hey mark, what is that thing you were drinking at about 5 and a half minutes in? That caffeine substitute? caffeine makes me anxious as well and I've been trying to cut back but I'm like addicted. I'm interested to look into what that might be and if it could help?
Magic Mind 😊
I've never see a straight man actually show interest in having an interesting conversation with a gay man. This is very unique, well done
This is gonna be GOOD
Brendon Urie singing Duck Tales is the absolute best!
Cats supervise us to make sure we're peeing correctly, and we disappoint them every time. One of many reasons they think (know) we're incompetent fools, and graciously allow us to live in their homes.
Let me say, I LOVE Mark's hair... I also loved it when Melissa Manchester wore it.
This was great guys!! Collab more. 🙌🏼
Nick needs to guest next. 😅
Great pod
I’ll probably buy next year!
Don't need to say anything but keep it up mark. Love from LA bro ✊🏽💯
I loved the club talk. I first went to the gay bars to support my gay friends and then later i realized the music and dancing are really good and I felt safer.
Thank you
Checking in from Portland where I’m waving at the Chinese man taking the cans out of my recycling right now. 😂
This pod is so much better than flagrant nowadays
This one was _Great_ 😊
Please listen to Minnie Riperton singing Lovin' You - one of the greatest examples of whistle register.
Never seen this guy but OMG I need his hair!!!
Its also a California thing in the bay area . So is carrying laundry and wearing a backpack everywhere.
Wow…I have never been a fan of reality tv, but I can tell you right now, I would watch the hell out of a show about the couch doctor!! I want to know EVERYTHING! 🤣
the old Chinese man collecting bottles thing is a Sydney AU thing also.
playing songs on silent makes such good content!
You’re right, they should play music and get the episode taken down for copyright infringement.
I want to listen to these two talk to each other forever.
I find the host so hot. I love men with long hair and when they’re pretty like this guy, oh boy I’m in love.
Love, Love, Love Mateo Lane and what a hunk Mark Gagnon is...NICE...
The Chinese recycling collector is also very Los Angeles
This is gonna be a good one lmao I love Matteo
Two of the best looking fellas in comedy! LETS GO!
Boston and Providence have the asian can/bottle collectors as well. In Boston, my experience was always a little asian lady. In Providence, its a guy in a van.

Love Matteo! Also, Chinese man collecting cans exists in Boston too, can’t speak for the rest of the country though 😂
My favorite Streisand pop song recording is “Stoney End”
I wish the background behind each person was more bland - visually it's lovely to have the decoration on the side, but when the camera is head-on, it's nice to have a less visually distracting background so you can really see the person and their expressions.

my non-gay date last night from nyc mentioned he loves matteo :)
Old Chinese men also collect cans in Toronto, they dump your beers before you’re done too
Barbra Streisand’s last name has only one “t” in it. It’s not Streistand as many people say. I also find it interesting that she writes her first name as “Barbra” instead of Barbara. 💕🐝💕
My 85 y o aunt in Florida is called Barbra , did not think that it's so unusual 🙄🤔
I love him
His ringlets slay me.
Toronto also has the old Chinese people collecting bottles the average age of them is about 80 years old
Matteo is a quarter Italian. He's mostly Irish and Mexican. De Niro is also mostly Irish. Di Caprio is mostly German.
Let’s go!!! We gettin gay today 🔥
