Props for keeping the scotch and world whiskey content going. Neckbeards are just mad that they can't get a dopamine hit from watching reviews of non-allocated product 😭😭😭

I think UA-cam is lacking in good scotch content, so I’d appreciate someone with your palate and tasting skills venturing into that space also. Do it!

I moved over to Scotch because I got exhausted hunting for bourbon. Unfortunately, that was right before Brexit, when Scotch pricing in the states was somewhat reasonable. Those days are over, but the Scotch content is still appreciated. Keep it up!

I love the Weekly Dram format. Putting together good info succinctly is the name of the game.

How about some Armagnac videos? You talk about Armagnac ,yet you have never really done a video on it. I would really like a little content on some good affordable bottles.

That’s a great idea, unfortunately I only have a few single casks and haven’t really explored affordable/available options besides Delord 25 (which is a great entry pour, even at 80 proof). I’ll definitely think about it for the future!

I have to tell you I hated cognacs but a local bourbon retailer told me he wants to get into cognacs due to the value. I picked up l’encantada xo and it is one of the best things I’ve ever tasted as it’s a mix of casks 20-30 years old…for $99. Need to join you patreon soon and shoot you a sample.

Cam If you can do a scotch for beginners that would be great. I have about 10 and none I really like…although picked up dewars 32 double barreled and looking forward to that. That said had Johnny walker blue and it was low prod but very easy to enjoy with just a bit of smoke. Would love to know how to find a better scotch similar that might not have the name recognition but is just as approachable

I’m planning to dip my toe into Ryes this year. I was leaning to grabbing a Sagamore store pick near me but the minty note you mentioned is kinda making me think twice. Should I just wait and try to grab a JBBP Rye or the Bardstown? P.S. not a fan of Sazerac rye. Thanks!

The JD might be the easiest transition, and then from there just choose your proof point (sub-100 for SiB, 100 for bonded, or 130ish for SiB BP). Although.. I really think Sagamore is approachable even with a little rye kick to it!

I think New Riff Rye deserves to be in the conversation.

Love the variety of the channel, including the scotch and world whiskey. Kinda weird for people to threaten to unsubscribe cause there’s 1 video per week they can simply skip. Keep it going Cam.

Loving the content brother! I’m a pretty new subscriber myself. Found your channel through the 1924 video but have since watched a ton of your other videos and been trying to keep up with the weekly content.
I really appreciate your style and approach to the channel. I follow a decent amount of whiskey channels and this is easily rising to be one of my favs. I enjoy the weekly dram and it gets me excited for the videos you have coming up!
    Cheers!

I simply cannot wait for your review of my sample. I am so happy to share with you. My son has become a huge cello player and so he also loves to see your musical performances!

Some one is thinking about unsubscribing because your doing whisky reviews. Good riddance to anyone that shallow. If you don’t like scotch great don’t watch the video but if you’re wound that tight you should probably not be drinking alcohol. Great list I’m a big rye guy and I actually prefer it over bourbon. I do drink bourbon often knob creek is one of my favorites and always on my counter but the spice and different flavors that come from rye’s is my jam. Can’t wait for your performance. Enjoy!!

Definitely bring some drums to Drums & Drams! Get Jason C to add some drums to Mash & Drum. I would love a music and whiskey collaboration between the two channels! 🥃🥁

    BJ’s had pour guesses.
    Porter had 1oz Wednesdays.
I’d love to see some quick Cameron blind pour content here and there! You clearly have one of the best palates in the game, let’s see you flex it

    • @cartermayfield
      @cartermayfield 7 місяців тому

Cam has pointed out on a live stream or two that blinds are overrated. Robert Parker, one of the best wine palates of all time, and certainly the most influential critic of all time, was good at identifying wines blind, but he seldom did blinds and called this sort of identification a “parlor trick.”
I kind of agree. I think it is good to do blinds now and again to sharpen up, but I think bourbon people are putting way too much emphasis on it right now. It just doesn’t matter that much.

Just from a personal viewpoint, I'm tired of seeing youtubers taste a known product and reverting to the norm, e.g. it's a Jack product and they taste banana/tasting nuts in every product by HH or JB. Also tired of seeing youtubers chase allocated. BTAC products/etc are going to be good, at the very least (for the most part), and I and every other whiskey hunter knows that. It's obviously a balance on your part, but I think there's too much focus on the allocated. This particular set of reviews is very useful and informative, for the record. These are available and can complete with most ryes, if not all. I follow breakingbourbon's recs almost exclusively since they don't seem to have a narrow palate (even though some with a narrow palate are very good in their reviews) and are willing to taste products outside the norm (Charbay, for example; the Double & Twisted is extremely unique and a bonafide summer drink for whiskey lovers). I think the scotch tastings are a great idea (ignore the narrow minded comments). I think the willingness to appreciate different notes/tastes/etc is part of the experience. Let me know if you want some Dettling samples (the good bottles are too good to give away).
