2024 EDIT: These days you probably want to get Julius, which is a fan-made engine replacement that gets the game into widescreen. Alternatively there is a modded Augustus version, guide here: ua-cam.com/video/AfWxj2iExGY/v-deo.html - I really should have made this a long time ago. Anyway, links and stuff in the description! Any questions just ask away. NOTE: It's been reported that this only works with the GOG version, not the Steam version! I don't always get notified of comments, so ask myself and the community more questions at discord.gg/GamerZakh
Dude you made my day, I know is an old video but I got nostalgic these days so I decided to play pharaoh in my tablet but the resolution was terrible and almost unplayable. With your video I've been able to play Pharaoh again and I'm so thankful with you so thank you so much for the video and the great explanation.
These series have been amazing. I kept trying the games on and off again since 2000 never beating them. Started watching your videos to learn and play along on a second monitor. Did this for first 10 missions, since I've played on my own and have just beat (26) Kebet - you've made both Pharaoh and Caesar incredibly fun.
Thank you, GamerZakh. I've dusted off my old copy of this game a few weeks ago and didn't even know this mod was available. Went to your discord, found the link, installed it and it seems to be working really well. So thanks again, this is great!
Just came along this awesome video! Thank you so much - everything still works, even after all these years ;) I'm playing Pharao on Steam and this Mod works perfectly fine! Awesome - what a difference :D
For those trying to play Pharaoh/Cleopatra on windows 10 and get constant crashes a few minutes in to the game, turn off the music as soon as you get into the game, (don't turn down the volume, you must turn it off). Speech, sound effects and city sound can be on. If you want, you can play ua-cam.com/video/MBypz1v5IPQ/v-deo.html in the background. Everyone once in a while the combat music comes at the wrong time, but 90% of the time you can hardly tell the difference. It's something about windows 10 and playing of some sounds that makes your computer totally freeze, but apparently the same sounds is perfectly fine to be played off youtube. I had constant crashes playing maximum 10-11 months before crashing when trying to play Saqqara. Tried this method and didn't have s single problems. So it's the music that is the problem. And no, widescreen mode did not fix the problem, but it's still nice.
Glad I could help! Caesar 3 also has mods now if you're interested. It's called Julius or if you want gameplay modifications there's a version called Augustus.
Thank you GamerZakh. I've been watching all the impression games on your channel and finally bought these while they were on sale! Great video for the widescreen fix! Can't wait to play these games again.
It works, I thought it was another bug and that there would never be a Caesar III in 1920 - 1080p but it really works! I leave Subscriptions and like People, it really works Thanks !!!
Zakh, this video is the second google result for my search. This is such a good resource that I just keep coming back to every time I boot up a new impressions game.
I still have my old CD-ROM of this game. I made up a virtualized Windows 95 environment in VMWare player and installed it there, so that I could play it windowed on my Win7 desktop.
Just wanted to add my thanks! This is just what I was looking for. Clear instructions and great video quality. (After this I'm off to watch your Caesar LP - I love that game, but never finished it. I'm gonna live vicariously through you.;) )
The security page you see when you first visit it is actually something the site owner has done, and it's a Cloudflare feature. It's to try and stop scrapers and DDOS etc attacks
thanks matey ...the Caesar 3 one doesnt work for me sadly, I replaced the C3.exe but when I change the resolution in the game to 1024x768 the screen is black, sound still going on in the background though. It looked so good in 1920 as well from all the images Im seeing.
Wow, what a difference. I just recently began playing Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom from gog. So I installed the files you linked here, but I had to change properties for it to work: 1. disable fullscreenoptimalisation and 2. override high PPT-scaling I'm playing on a Azus VivoMini with win10 and after adjusting the properties it looks good. (Previous I had to disable the intro scene at the .ini file for sound to work at this PC though, still set to off)
Had a computer crash and I'm trying to restore the widescreen mod for Emperor and I'm having trouble again. I've been trying to go back and see what I did last time and its not working.
I'm trying to play Pharaoh + Cleopatra via Steam on Windows 10 and when I run the executable (from the directory or directly from Steam) all of my mouse clicks are offset (i.e. the user interface has shifted with relation to the graphics shown on screen). Any ideas?
@@GamerZakh I left another question on another one of your Cleopatra videos (the last one in the series I think) about scrolling and hotkeys, are you able to let me know your thoughts about that too? I appreciate it, thanks!
Ha! Success. Thanks so much for making this video. I had managed to download and install correctly, but I would never have figured out your tip at the end of about going in and setting the resolution to the highest available setting. You win all the prizes.
Oh but as a note, it seems that one still has the black section for the missing interface on the bottom right. The Crudelios version fixes that as seen in this video.
Black screen error fixed! I have a 1366x768 monitor, and I was getting black screen errors when ever I tried to load the full screen resizer mod for Pharaoh at 1364x768 (not 1366 because the horizontal resolution must be a a multiple of 4). Then I changed my screen resolution to 1360x768 and replace the Pharaoh.exe file with the resizer file to match that resolution. Now the mod works perfectly! It seems the resizer file must match the screen resolution perfectly to work.
Thanks you indeed! The regular way was not working for me but then I saw your comment and I changed from 1680 x 1050 to 1600 x 1024 and created an .exe with those numbers and it worked! I just change my resolution back when Im done so thanks once again!
I followed all instructions but when I tried to run Emperor.exe all I got as a message saying "mss32.dll not found." How can I fix that? I tried downloading mss32.dll and reinstalling the game but nothing helped. Thanks in advance!
@GamerZakh I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I got the Caesar 3 widescreen fix with the Julius/Augustus downloads correct, but the Pharaoh widescreen is so offset that I'm basically guess clicking around the screen. Also, the build side menu is missing. I just end up ctrl+alt deleting out of the game. I need the 1920x1080 resolution for Windows 10.
Hey sorry I missed this back in the day, but for Pharaoh, it's best to use the newer Pharaoh Resizer app made by crudelios. It patches Pharaoh to any resolution you want and fixes gaps.
Once you're in the game set the in-game resolution to the highest one using the options at the top of the screen once you're on an actual map. The widescreen mod replaces that one with the one you replaces the exe with. Alternatively, for Pharaoh, you can look up the Pharaoh Resizer app made by crudelios.
I am trying to play Emperor on GOG (or to use the CD I have for the game). I downloaded the widescreen patch from WSGF and installed it by replacing the exe file with the one in the 1920 x 1080 file and replaced the 15 data files. When I go into the game and change the resolution to the largest setting (1024 X 640?) the screen goes black for an instant and then refreshes but the widescreen patch didn't work. Can you offer any suggestions on what I may be doing wrong? I was able to get this to work on windows 7 but now that I'm on windows 10 it won't work.
My apologies - It looks as if it is actually working. I went and re-watched your first Emperor playthru of the first city and it looks the same as mine. It still looks very close in to me though - until I compared it to the unmoded level. Thank you for the information you provide that makes this game playable again. It's my favorite of the Impressions/Sierra games though I really like Pharaoh also.
I have downloaded this widescreen for Zeus and the reselution works fine but everytime i wanna open the world map the game crashes. Does any1 have the same problem or does any1 know how to fix it. Edit: I found the problem. I only replaced the exe file and forgot to replace the map files inside the DATA folder so if any1else have the same problem this is probadly the solution.
The 1920x1080 SpaceMan version worked on Steam for me, using Windows 10 :) Used XP compatibility mode, 16-bit color, and running as administrator. Enjoy :)
Hey, GZ- I still have the original Pharaoh and Cleopatra CDs from years ago, and they work on Windows 10. I want to say a BIG thank you for the links, cause the original game does recognize the widescreen mod- though a little wonky in the main game menus, its working so far with a small game play test, but I haven't really tested extensively as of yet. I'm seriously considering making content with this game now, and I'd make sure to give a link back to your channel/this vid.
Tried the resizer for Pharao in Full HD and 4K but it doesn't work. Once i change the ingame settings to the 1024 x 768 resolution the game looks completely fucked, the mouse doesn't appear on the screen and now i can't even change it back :( Anyone having similar issues?
Hey, I tried to get the widescreen for Emperor but it doesnt work : aftet I the exe and the Data in the folder and launch the game, I got the widescreen but the "menu buttons" (like continue, campaign etc) is shifted on the right and it's not well working with the mouse Furthermore, when i get to launch a party, the construction menu isn't there, there is just the map and the upper menu (options etc) Does someone got a solution ? I'm really lost and I would love to play this game, but i just can't (sorry, english isn't my first language :/)
Unfortunately it doesn't work for me: have a GOG version of C3 Win 7 x64. When I replace an exe. file and change a resolution in game options - screen turns black.... What can you advice me?
It could be. I can pass you the files if you on Discord - discord.gg/GamerZakh - All the widescreen mod exes are hosted there on the city-building channel.
I know several people have commented similar things, but is there any workaround for the Steam version of Caesar 3 on Windows 10? I've tried multiple downloads from the links you provided and others I personally searched for, and everything gives the same result; just a black screen while the game sounds continue to run in the background. I've tried to run the game via Steam as well as via the install directory, but had no joy whatsoever, unfortunately :(
Should the DATA folder in the emperor.7z file contain some files or something?. Because there nothing inside that folder, but where the game is installed there are alot of files in that folder.
Hey Zakh ! I'm about to buy on Steam Pharaoh and Caesar III which are some of the games from my childhood aswell, but it seems that there is some issues with those versions (Caesar III : bug with voices acting, sounds, etc) and it doesnt look like they want to patch it. Do you know any patch that could fix those version ? Btw thank you for your playthrough of Caesar III, i'm about to finish watching it, and I have learned a lot !!! :)
Hi! Glad you find the videos useful! As far as I've heard, the Steam versions of these games are not as good as the GOG versions. Some people even say the widescreen mod doesn't work on the Steam versions. It might be worth it to buy the GOG version, which depending on where you live could be more expensive than the Steam ones.
That usually means your screen's resolution isn't matching the widescreen mod size you're using. This can be confusing if you're on a laptop as laptops can display things weird, but I'm not sure what system you're using. If you're playing Caesar 3, you can use the Julius open source to play instead.
I got Caesar 3 on steam a few days ago and found your video to get around the poor resolution. (Ive got a 32" 4K monitor) Is it still not working on Steam? or know a way to make it work on Steam? (bit of a mix of comments over 4 years haha) Ive been on the links and not had any success.. When I searched for ".exe" in the search bar, nothing came up in the folder, and nothing for searching "windows" either? Mainly things to do with android..
Ah okay, for that I'd recommend you get the new Julius mod port for Caesar 3. It takes the game assets, even from Steam, and runs the game in a whole new engine with some quality of life improvements. Because it's a new engine it will scale to much higher resolutions too with fewer complications. If you look up 'Julius Caesar 3' you should find it.
Is it possible to play Emperor on a 2560 x 1080 (21:9) resolution screen? I've tried all of the various patches, but none of them seem to work. Love your videos btw!
No worries, which game are you doing it for? If it's Caesar 3 or Pharaoh, you can just put the exe file in the install directory, like just copy/paste it there. And then you can double click that exe file to run the widescreen version instead of the default one. You don't technically have to replace the exe file but you'll need new shortcuts.
GamerZakh got it, so if I’m clicking on that new .exe file and it’s not opening then the only possible explanations are: 1- because the resolution doesn’t match my computers resolution. Or 2- because the file I downloaded doesn’t work. Right?
So I just finished installing the GOG version of C3, and all it does is show me a black screen with "Loading Sounds" in the middle with background music. Nothing else happens no matter what I click, except when pressing ESC, which takes you out of the game. I've tried all compatibility versions, but nothing works. Any idea why this is?
Yes, I have them matched exactly 1920x1080. Does it matter if I have 2 screens? UPDATE: Strangely, when I disconnect my laptop from the screens, the game works fine BUT does not have the 1920 1080p resolution
Hmm laptops often have weird proprietary settings or limitations depending on the brand. Caesar 3 also is very limited in its display options, which is why you can't alt-tab out of it. Is both your laptop screen and your other screens all 1080p? Many laptops are not 1080p nowadays. Have you set the in-game setting to max resolution and running the game with the modded exe file, not the original exe?
It's likely the replacement map graphics are missing or ended up in the wrong folder. If you can, you can ask for quick help on our discord: www.discord.gg/GamerZakh Someone is usually around to help with this stuff and it's easier to chat.
I'm not sure what process you've done. You're just supposed to copy all the files into your Emperor install directory and overwrite anything. No need to uninstall anything or do anything with saves.
The normal installation should have a c3.exe file which is the file you run to start the game. You have to replace that with the new one you download, so you can delete the original c3.exe and rename the one you download to c3.exe and put it in the same place as the original, then run the new file to start the game. Be sure you're not just replacing the shortcut on your desktop or something, it needs to be the c3.exe in the installation directory.
@@GamerZakh Pharaoh Gold. It did work initially, years ago but now it doesn't. Oh well. I guess it doesn't matter with Pharaoh New Era baking in the oven. 😀 Ceasar III Augustus worked perfectly. No problems there.
@@OG21020 Best thing to do is to share your problem on our discord. After sending a few messages you can post screenshots and people there will know how to fix it. Crudelios themselves is on there.
I'm downloading the pharoah version. The issue I'm having is that the graphics stop. eg, if I build a new firehouse, I don't see a red flag when it is staffed. I don't see men working the staffed industries. etc, etc.
Ah that's an odd but common problem with old games. Happens in Age of Wonder Shadow Magic too. You need to restart your PC. Don't shut down and boot up, actually press the restart option. That fixes the graphical issues in old games for some reason.
It should work but sometimes the Steam versions can have issues depending on your setup for whatever reason. For Pharaoh, look for the Pharaoh Resizer app, it patches the game into widescreen. Zeus needs an animation patch too but generally you can try any of the widescreen mods on the Steam version and they should work.
i get a weird error when i run the application "the procedure entry point _ail_set _3d_sample_playback_rate@8 could not be located in the dynamic link library mss32.dll." anyone else see this before?
Never seen that before, but can check a few things. Which game are you modding? Is it the Steam version? The Steam version can have issues with the mod, the GOG version is more reliable. Are you using an old CD? If yes, check Heaven Games for the official patches to make sure the game is the latest official version first.
the links (example caesar 3) are not working... "The file you are trying to download is no longer available. The account that created this link has been terminated due to multiple violations of our Terms of Service."... anybody have a link for pharaoh & Emperor HD (1920x1080)?
I guess the Emperor Widescreen fix is for the CD version. The DATA folder from the zip file contains only the picture in widescreen. On the gog version there is a list of 555 and sg3 files to go around the CD requirement, I guess. Do you have any idea how to get it work with the GoG version?
Nevermind, if you work on GoG version, just unzip the Emperor zip file from WDGF. Then rename the DATA folder and emperor.exe file in your game folder DATA_Original and emperor_Original respectively. Then create a folder called DATA and copy the file from the DATA_Original folder then those from the DATA folder contained in the zip file, say yes to replace all. Then copy and paste the .exe from the zip file into the game folder. Launch that file. TADAM , voilà, it is working.
Hey awesome that you figured it out! It is less tested with the GOG version as the mod was made before it released there. Thanks for sharing the solution!
Laptops can often not be native 1080p resolution. Double check what resolution you have on your screen. If the mod file doesn't match your monitor's resolution you get a black screen.
Hey, I tried the solution you provied. My main menu is in my targeted resolution (2560x1440), but the buttons are like croped in the bottom right, and not clickable (nothing happens when you click on it). Ever heard of that ?
Hi, I got Caesar III recently and was trying to set up the full-screen fix, but the exe file is now a restricted file, being unable to be downloaded, is there another spot I could find it? Thanks
That generally means the game is trying to load something but that thing is missing. Try extract all the files again and make sure you don't have an antivirus auto-deleting files when you extract them.
The Steam version is fickly. For some it works the same but other people have issues. It's unclear why the difference. You can try just use the widescreen patch. Otherwise you can get the Julius or Augustus port and add that as a non-Steam game.
so after the awesome 10 hints video I try my luck and wonder if there's a 16:9 patch for caesar 3 AND I LAND AGAIN IN THIS CHANNEL :DD that's it, time to subscribe
Welcome back! Haha I have kind of specialised on these old city-builders. There's even a decent sized city-building community on my Discord server if you ever need help with anything and I'm not available.
I am having a problem with the widescren in emperor. - I cant open a open game, it just doesnt let me start it - And In all the missions when I am getting attaked I just lose istandly doesnt matter how much army or tower I have. - Also some texted are out of the boxses they should be in. Anyone can help ? (it was 1600x900)
Hello Zakh :) I want to ask you about widescreen mode for caesar 3... I have problem becouse I cant find good link for download widescreen mod :/ can you help me pls?
For today, the best way to play Caesar 3 is using Julius or Augustus. Julius for the vanilla experience and Augustus for a modded one, both get you widescreen.
So late to the party on this but anyway. I'm having trouble with Emperor, I've followed all the steps, changed the .exe filename, and i've extracted the DATA files from the downloaded files which replaced the files from the vanilla game. The game loads up fine but when I try and change the resolution as mentioned in the video it either just goes to a black screen on some resolutions but I can still hear the game running or it loads up the new res but it is out of sync with the UI, cutting bits off and not reading the mouse in the right place. My monitor is 4K res (4096x2160), I don't know whether that would be impacting the game's res... HELP :(
Hey! Where did you get the widescreen files from? Also, generally they are for fixed resolutions and as far as I know 4K isn't an available mod. The data files and exe you copy are for a specific resolution, you gotta use the one that matches your monitor, but since 4K isn't supported you'll have to drop your monitor's resolution for this. The largest I can see is 2460px.
@@GamerZakh Thanks for the quick reply! It's strange, I've made sure the corresponding files match up and I'm trying for 2560x1440p. The new resolution now loads after changing the res option in game as in your video but as before the UI is out of sync and the build menu is totally obscured. Weird!
@@multigwilty5154 Awesome that it's working! Sometimes modding is like that. It can even be Windows Defender auto deleted files without telling you one time haha. Mod files for old games are often flagged as viruses.
Does not work for me :(. Have tried all the possible solutions given. I even tried putting my default desktop screen to 1280x720. as they give 1,7777 if divided. This should be compatible with 1920x1080, but it just keep giving me black screens after your final instruction to select the highest in-game resolution. Same for every single option I've tried: always a black screen. I am on a Lenovo 540 laptop with a 1366x720 default resolution.
Woah, Zakh, thank you so much for the quick reply. I actually got the game when I was five and still keep it as a sort of relic on an almost sacramental disk. It is a piece of art, absolutely masterful :). But I guess it wont work from a cd either. Thank you anyways!
I've tried going to your discord link to get the widescreen patch for Pharaoh since the files aren't available anymore on the wsgf website. But it keeps asking for me to verify by phone before it lets me any further past the page of your link. I will not provide my phone number! Please is there anywhere or anyway else I can get the files? Thanks.
I downloaded the GOG caesar III version of the game, Caesar.III.2.0.0.9-GOG. I have Win 10... after the setup, I ran the game, set the max res 1024x768, close the game, replace the c3-1600x900 by jackfuste with the c3.exe, same name, just moved the original one as a backup. After choose the map it will crash with a black screen. Any hint...?
Running Win10, NVidia GeForce 765 GTX (Notebook), Intel I7 4700MQ 8gb RAM I ran the game before knew the HD MOD and it was working. After the mod not anymore, but swapping the exe with the original one, everything it's fine (but 1024x768). Id like play 1600x900, it seems i'm the only sucker to whom game isn't working -.-
You're not the only one. A lot of people have similar problems but it seems the cause is really a case by case basis and it tends to happen on non-1080p resolutions. You can try get the exe files off my Discord server where I'm hosting backup files, they might be slightly different from the ones you downloaded. Next step is to try change your desktop resolution to something else like 720 and try that widescreen mod. It could be a problem with the 900p version.
I may be too late to the table on this one, but I have downloaded the file for Emperor but I'm having trouble getting it moved to the Emperor folder. I'm not computer savvy and I'm getting lost when it comes to extracting the mod file and renaming the files. help?
Hey! I can help or you can ask the community when I'm not around if you join the Discord server at discord.gg/GamerZakh - We have a city-building channel there where people can help you more and you can share screenshots. Now for Emperor, you basically have to extract the Data folder and the exe file into the Emperor install directory and if it asks if you want to replace any files you say 'yes'. You don't technically have to rename any files and the Emperor.exe should just replace the default one. I'm not sure how to help more from here but feel free to ask more specific questions or drop by the Discord to share screenshots of what you're looking at.
It's because how the game actually works is never properly explained. If you have a save file of a city you got stuck on or failed you can send it to me and I can explain things specifically for you in a City-building Doctor.
thanks for your help but it's not necessary. haha..., I was glad to play it even in easy difficulty. and a little help from your video. it's just that sometimes after I played long enough, my kingdom rating changed to 0 immediately, it pisses me off.
Hello, Thanks for the fix. It worked for all of my games in the series except for Emperor Rotmk :( I installed the 1280x1024 version (same resolution with my monitor) but after choosing 1024x768 the game stays that way and doesn't switch to 1280x1024 :( I tried everything, on both gog's version (2.0.0.2) and regular version (base + 1.1 patch update) but none of them worked. As mentioned, all the other games (Zeus, Pharaoh...) worked just fine. Could you advise what should I do next? Really am at my wit's end right now 😭😭😭 Thanks!
so like alot of other people who have the Gog version of C3, and 64 bit Win 10, 1920x1080 doesn't work. Just a black screen. But the 1680x1050 does work. Doesnt quite stretch to the sides of the screen, but certainly alot better than 800 x 600! www.wsgfmedia.com/jackfuste/Caesar%203/test/1680x1050/c3.exe
Hi there, I didn't know this mod does not work on Steam. I have downloaded Pharaoh.exe file from crudelios. Do you know how can I get the original exe file to replace the one from WSGF? Thank you!
Just to test, I've recently been told that the Steam version might work if you run the exe directly from the install directory rather than going through Steam. Otherwise, the only way to get the original exe if from someone who has it or to redownload the game.
this is my favorite game bro, but i cant understand how to download make it wide screen , can you please help me to share link so i can download it PLEASE, thx
@@GamerZakh Emperor bro hopefully you can help me for my childhood game thank you so much im use windows 10, i can play the game but the screen is so small
@@suluhagungpasi3364 Okay first, where did you get the game? The widescreen mod is most compatible with the GOG version. Next, the link for Emperor in the description should get you the files you need. You need to copy the files from the folder of your exact screen resolution. If you ate 1920x1080 on your screen, then you get those files. Copy all the files and overwrite them in the Emperor install folder. Sometimes, antivirus blocks these kinds of files. You might have to turn off antivirus before you copy files. Other times, there are rare issues on laptops. If you are on a laptop, it might not work. Finally, in case I miss any of your comments, you can ask for more help on the *city-building* channel on our Discord server at discord.gg/GamerZakh. People are online all the time there and can help you if I'm not free.
Hmm it might not work for non-english versions. I'm not sure if language options are in yet, but you can check out Project Julius. It's an open source engine for Caesar 3 that has more options for Caesar 3.
@@GamerZakh Thanks for answering. Apparently I've downloaded incomplete/fucked up version of game - reinstal from other source helped. Sorry for wasting your time :c
Hey, I link to a backup host on the discord. People there can help with issues too if I'm not around. Check the pinned messages in the City-building channel at discord.gg/gamerzakh
I used this mod on my Pharaoh Gold from GOG and with 1080p i keep seeing glitches such as sidebar completely black on its bottom third, the upper bar glitching + plus everything glitching out with overlays and overseers. Anyone knows a way to fix that? It definitely doesn't look as good as GameerZakh's
This is the original widescreen mod yeah, since then the Pharaoh Resizer app was made by crudelios. If you look that up you'll find it and it patches a better version for Pharaoh.
if i use the resizer, everytime i change the resolution to the highest setting in display option, my game crashes. if i use the premade .exe for 1080, the game load up with error message... -edit my bad, you need to run the game as administrator.
2024 EDIT: These days you probably want to get Julius, which is a fan-made engine replacement that gets the game into widescreen. Alternatively there is a modded Augustus version, guide here: ua-cam.com/video/AfWxj2iExGY/v-deo.html

Hmm, I probably should do stuff like that. I could make some tutorials on block designs and some subtleties when it comes to using them.
Showed my dad your vids and all the mods he is downloading and jumping on the game as we speak hahaha nostalgia overload
Man... I love these games so much. That music from Caesar III will always be so nostalgic for my childhood. 😍 Thanks Zakh!
Bro i need link to download
Wow! Thanks so much to you for making this video and a massive thank you to the people who put the work into making these patches!
Glad I could help!
Thank you, GamerZakh. I've dusted off my old copy of this game a few weeks ago and didn't even know this mod was available. Went to your discord, found the link, installed it and it seems to be working really well. So thanks again, this is great!
Is this working on win10 for emporer?
@@udaybhargav Don't know. I installed it for Caesar 3 on win10 and it worked without any problems.
I just had to play these amazing games from my childhood. Thank you so much.
I leave Subscriptions and like
People, it really works
Thanks !!!
Glad I could help! Have fun playing.
Just bought this game on a GOG sale, thank you for this tutorial!

@@GamerZakh I very much am, so far!
Zakh, this video is the second google result for my search. This is such a good resource that I just keep coming back to every time I boot up a new impressions game.
I'm just happy it's actually helping so many people. Really tried to get this one made right.
I already changed exe to open the game without CD, thanks, now its perfect
Awesome! Glad I could help
I still have my old CD-ROM of this game. I made up a virtualized Windows 95 environment in VMWare player and installed it there, so that I could play it windowed on my Win7 desktop.
its on GOG website. I believe its $5 and works for windows 10.
Just wanted to add my thanks! This is just what I was looking for. Clear instructions and great video quality.
(After this I'm off to watch your Caesar LP - I love that game, but never finished it. I'm gonna live vicariously through you.;) )
Glad I could help! And have fun watching those, they're pretty much the first thing I did on the channel, so they might be a bit rough haha.
Skip to 4:50 for the "How to install" part.
Thanks gamerzakh, got the mods from your discord server & it works like a charm
Awesome, glad you got it working!
Same here. My version is from torrents.
this is what mine does on my laptop, annyoing. GOG version
same here...have Windows 7...what now?

Did anyone find a solution? I run on Windows 10 but I can't even start the base game

Thank you very much for making this video. Extremely helpful with the link that takes you right to the Emperor mod.
thanks homie
now I'm playing a game that was launched before I was even born in 1080 HD 😎
That's awesome! Glad I could help.
Thanks GamerZakh For The Guide! It Really Helped Out A Lot.

You're welcome!
I am one of the few people who got a 4k monitor for Caesar III I guess. And IT IS GLORIOUS!
Wow, what a difference. I just recently began playing Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom from gog.
So I installed the files you linked here, but I had to change properties for it to work:
1. disable fullscreenoptimalisation and
2. override high PPT-scaling
I'm playing on a Azus VivoMini with win10 and after adjusting the properties it looks good.
(Previous I had to disable the intro scene at the .ini file for sound to work at this PC though, still set to off)
thanks a lot for this comment! helped me
Hey man! Thanks for this video! My nostalgia thanks you! Very easy to install.
Had a computer crash and I'm trying to restore the widescreen mod for Emperor and I'm having trouble again. I've been trying to go back and see what I did last time and its not working.
Thanks Zekh, I can apply for all the game with high resolution now!
Awesome, have fun!
I'm trying to play Pharaoh + Cleopatra via Steam on Windows 10 and when I run the executable (from the directory or directly from Steam) all of my mouse clicks are offset (i.e. the user interface has shifted with relation to the graphics shown on screen). Any ideas?
Never mind, fixed it! For anyone else having this issue - just change your display scaling on Windows from 125% (in my case) to 100%.
Hey glad you figured it out! Yeah that can be an issue with the display.
@@GamerZakh I left another question on another one of your Cleopatra videos (the last one in the series I think) about scrolling and hotkeys, are you able to let me know your thoughts about that too? I appreciate it, thanks!
@@slandrews93 Got it, replied there.
Ha! Success. Thanks so much for making this video. I had managed to download and install correctly, but I would never have figured out your tip at the end of about going in and setting the resolution to the highest available setting. You win all the prizes.
Glad I could help!
I downloaded a resizer for Pharaoh from ModDB, set it to 1440x900, set to the highest res in-game, and it works fine. :)
Awesome! Glad it worked for you, didn't realise that's on ModDB. Will add that link to the description.
Oh but as a note, it seems that one still has the black section for the missing interface on the bottom right. The Crudelios version fixes that as seen in this video.
i downloaded and installed the files but i am getting an error, then a crash. can you please help?
Black screen error fixed! I have a 1366x768 monitor, and I was getting black screen errors when ever I tried to load the full screen resizer mod for Pharaoh at 1364x768 (not 1366 because the horizontal resolution must be a a multiple of 4). Then I changed my screen resolution to 1360x768 and replace the Pharaoh.exe file with the resizer file to match that resolution. Now the mod works perfectly!
It seems the resizer file must match the screen resolution perfectly to work.
Ah cool, thanks for sharing! It'll be helpful for others working in similar resolutions.
I have problems with Zeus :/ It would be cool to see more advanced tutorial
@GamerZakh I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I got the Caesar 3 widescreen fix with the Julius/Augustus downloads correct, but the Pharaoh widescreen is so offset that I'm basically guess clicking around the screen. Also, the build side menu is missing. I just end up ctrl+alt deleting out of the game. I need the 1920x1080 resolution for Windows 10.
Same thing happening with me...
Hey sorry I missed this back in the day, but for Pharaoh, it's best to use the newer Pharaoh Resizer app made by crudelios. It patches Pharaoh to any resolution you want and fixes gaps.
ok so i figured out how to install it at 1920x1080, but when i launch the game, Pharaoh does not run in widescreen. am i doing something wrong here?
Once you're in the game set the in-game resolution to the highest one using the options at the top of the screen once you're on an actual map. The widescreen mod replaces that one with the one you replaces the exe with. Alternatively, for Pharaoh, you can look up the Pharaoh Resizer app made by crudelios.
I am here on the Campaign Creator and it isn't in the same widescreen as the game itself. Is there a way to fix it??
I could not follow instructions... was not clear at all.
Hey, I tried to get the widescreen for Emperor but it doesnt work : aftet I the exe and the Data in the folder and launch the game, I got the widescreen but the "menu buttons" (like continue, campaign etc) is shifted on the right and it's not well working with the mouse
Furthermore, when i get to launch a party, the construction menu isn't there, there is just the map and the upper menu (options etc)
Does someone got a solution ? I'm really lost and I would love to play this game, but i just can't (sorry, english isn't my first language :/)
Unfortunately it doesn't work for me: have a GOG version of C3 Win 7 x64. When I replace an exe. file and change a resolution in game options - screen turns black.... What can you advice me?
What's your screen's resolution? If it's 1080p, where did you get the mod exe file from?
Yes, this is 1080p but I got a windscreen pack from torrents because original links are dead. Maybe I have an old version of mod?
It could be. I can pass you the files if you on Discord - discord.gg/GamerZakh - All the widescreen mod exes are hosted there on the city-building channel.
Ok, thank you very much, I got a new file from your link and I will inform you a little bit later about a result ;)
Finally it works! Thank you very much! I hust re-instaled the game, launced it with original exe file, then replaced it with yours and it works!
I know several people have commented similar things, but is there any workaround for the Steam version of Caesar 3 on Windows 10? I've tried multiple downloads from the links you provided and others I personally searched for, and everything gives the same result; just a black screen while the game sounds continue to run in the background. I've tried to run the game via Steam as well as via the install directory, but had no joy whatsoever, unfortunately :(
Unfortunately I don't think it's working with the Steam version. GOG or CD version only it seems.
Should the DATA folder in the emperor.7z file contain some files or something?. Because there nothing inside that folder, but where the game is installed there are alot of files in that folder.
Did it work for you?
Could you tell me why it happens when i play in hd mode, turn into 1024x768 resolution then it turns black screen?
That usually means your screen's resolution isn't matching the widescreen mod size you're using. This can be confusing if you're on a laptop as laptops can display things weird, but I'm not sure what system you're using. If you're playing Caesar 3, you can use the Julius open source to play instead.
Is anyone still active with this mod? I'm looking for a 21:9 version if possible
I got Caesar 3 on steam a few days ago and found your video to get around the poor resolution. (Ive got a 32" 4K monitor)
Is it still not working on Steam? or know a way to make it work on Steam? (bit of a mix of comments over 4 years haha)
Ive been on the links and not had any success..
@@GamerZakh thanks buddy! ill look into it
Is it possible to play Emperor on a 2560 x 1080 (21:9) resolution screen? I've tried all of the various patches, but none of them seem to work. Love your videos btw!
I have installed the mod and it works fine however in the world map all the buttons and options are wrong. Did I miss a step here ??
Okay let's check. Which game are you talking about? What version of the game are you running (Steam/GOG/CD)? Where did you get the mod files?
the link to high rez is gone. the page is still there, but the link to the exe file is not.
WOAH!! Pharaoh in 3440x1440
when i do this i dont see the build panel anymore. any ideas?
I have the file downloaded, but I don’t understand how to replace the .exe file. Could you explain that further? I’m not very tech savvy.
Okay first thing to check, what's your monitor's native resolution? The widescreen mod file you use needs to match that exactly.
Have you set the in-game setting to max resolution and running the game with the modded exe file, not the original exe?
playing zues with this fix. the game crashes when i click the global map is there a way to fix this?
It's likely the replacement map graphics are missing or ended up in the wrong folder. If you can, you can ask for quick help on our discord: www.discord.gg/GamerZakh Someone is usually around to help with this stuff and it's easier to chat.
I downloaded the 7zfile of emperor rotmk...but i installed it so do i need to uninstall it and replace the save files. Please help
I'm not sure what process you've done. You're just supposed to copy all the files into your Emperor install directory and overwrite anything. No need to uninstall anything or do anything with saves.
This file is no longer available :(
We link to it through this channel's Discord server as a backup. WSGF files sometimes go down or go missing.
So wait, I basically have to get rid of Caesar 3 and replace it with the c3? Is that the reason why c3 doesn't wanna work?
The normal installation should have a c3.exe file which is the file you run to start the game. You have to replace that with the new one you download, so you can delete the original c3.exe and rename the one you download to c3.exe and put it in the same place as the original, then run the new file to start the game. Be sure you're not just replacing the shortcut on your desktop or something, it needs to be the c3.exe in the installation directory.
Oh, okay, I will try do that once I get to it... Thanks.
I downloaded the resolutions a couple of years ago but now it doesn't seem to work. I get a pop up saying the lines are off.
Which game are you modding?
@@GamerZakh Pharaoh Gold. It did work initially, years ago but now it doesn't. Oh well. I guess it doesn't matter with Pharaoh New Era baking in the oven. 😀
Ceasar III Augustus worked perfectly. No problems there.
@@OG21020 Ah for Pharaoh, you should use the Pharaoh Resizer app made by crudelios. It's better than any widescreen mod download.
@@GamerZakh It doesn't work either. The game resolution is disproportionate. Unplayable.
I need the site to download the caesar 3, any recomendation?
Top secret
Is there widescreen mods available for Pharaoh + Cleopatra, Zeus + Poseidon from Steam??
It should work but sometimes the Steam versions can have issues depending on your setup for whatever reason. For Pharaoh, look for the Pharaoh Resizer app, it patches the game into widescreen. Zeus needs an animation patch too but generally you can try any of the widescreen mods on the Steam version and they should work.
i get a weird error when i run the application "the procedure entry point _ail_set _3d_sample_playback_rate@8 could not be located in the dynamic link library mss32.dll."
anyone else see this before?
Never seen that before, but can check a few things. Which game are you modding? Is it the Steam version? The Steam version can have issues with the mod, the GOG version is more reliable. Are you using an old CD? If yes, check Heaven Games for the official patches to make sure the game is the latest official version first.

The invite is invalid? I've never seen that before. If I go to discord.gg/GamerZakh right now it works fine. What device are you on?

Yeah my mod rehosted the files and linked to them on my Discord server in the pinned messages of the City-building channel. discord.gg/gamerzakh

That generally means the game is trying to load something but that thing is missing. Try extract all the files again and make sure you don't have an antivirus auto-deleting files when you extract them.
is there a way to apply the resolution on the steam version of the game. i like to see my hours played.
The Steam version is fickly. For some it works the same but other people have issues. It's unclear why the difference. You can try just use the widescreen patch. Otherwise you can get the Julius or Augustus port and add that as a non-Steam game.
so after the awesome 10 hints video I try my luck and wonder if there's a 16:9 patch for caesar 3 AND I LAND AGAIN IN THIS CHANNEL :DD

Link for Caesar III HD mod is not available (it says file has been deleted).
Yeah I pinned a link on my Discord server on the city-building channel as a backup.
The files are no longer available :(
I've linked backups on the discord. Pinned comment in the city-building channel.

Did you get the game from GOG or Steam? I've heard it doesn't work with the Steam version.
Woah, Zakh, thank you so much for the quick reply. I actually got the game when I was five and still keep it as a sort of relic on an almost sacramental disk. It is a piece of art, absolutely masterful :). But I guess it wont work from a cd either. Thank you anyways!
Yeah the disk version could be unpatched. There was actually a patch for the game that you can find on Caesar Heaven. Maybe try patching it first?

THANK YOU Got some awesome help from Rico over there!
you are very good in playing pharaoh, i can't even win in normal difficulty
It's because how the game actually works is never properly explained. If you have a save file of a city you got stuck on or failed you can send it to me and I can explain things specifically for you in a City-building Doctor.
thanks for your help but it's not necessary. haha..., I was glad to play it even in easy difficulty. and a little help from your video. it's just that sometimes after I played long enough, my kingdom rating changed to 0 immediately, it pisses me off.
thank you Zach for the link. it was indeed useful n helpful.
Glad I could help!
Hello,
Thanks for the fix. It worked for all of my games in the series except for Emperor Rotmk :(
I installed the 1280x1024 version (same resolution with my monitor) but after choosing 1024x768 the game stays that way and doesn't switch to 1280x1024 :(
I tried everything, on both gog's version (2.0.0.2) and regular version (base + 1.1 patch update) but none of them worked. As mentioned, all the other games (Zeus, Pharaoh...) worked just fine.
Could you advise what should I do next? Really am at my wit's end right now 😭😭😭
Thanks!
so like alot of other people who have the Gog version of C3, and 64 bit Win 10, 1920x1080 doesn't work. Just a black screen. But the 1680x1050 does work. Doesnt quite stretch to the sides of the screen, but certainly alot better than 800 x 600!

THANK YOU SO MUCH. Nice guy here!
the 1050 version does work for me, thanks, so much better in this resolution
thanks i ll try that. i have the steam version and the 1920 doesnt work.
This was very helpful! thank you
Glad I could help! Have fun playing!
I do some recording myself! I started a channel two years ago and lost motivation - I’ve now restarted and
Will be playing loads games!
@@GhosttheGrumpyAussie Hey awesome, good luck!
This is so awesome! Ohhh, I would love to make it work on my game..!
Unfortunately no. I tried that and it still shows black screen. Anyway, thanks!
this is my favorite game bro, but i cant understand how to download make it wide screen , can you please help me to share link so i can download it PLEASE, thx
I'll try to help, which game are you trying to get into widescreen?
No longer functions with Pharaoh + Cleopatra gog version 2.1
For Pharaoh, you want the Crudelios Pharaoh Resizer. That's the best way to get it into widescreen and you don't have to copy files.
Well... it's not working for me. The only difference I can see is languge. Any ideas or advice?
Hmm it might not work for non-english versions. I'm not sure if language options are in yet, but you can check out Project Julius. It's an open source engine for Caesar 3 that has more options for Caesar 3.
@@GamerZakh Thanks for answering. Apparently I've downloaded incomplete/fucked up version of game - reinstal from other source helped. Sorry for wasting your time :c
@@MrMegaJedin Hey no worries. It's never a waste of time helping people out.
Hi, do you still have the widescreen files? I can't find it on the link. thank!
@@GamerZakh thanks, Pharaoh Resizer did a great job :)
@@Cycke86 Awesome, have fun playing!
if i use the resizer, everytime i change the resolution to the highest setting in display option, my game crashes.
if i use the premade .exe for 1080, the game load up with error message...
-edit
my bad, you need to run the game as administrator.
Hey no worries! All sorts of problems can happen with these mods. Glad you got it working.
@@GamerZakh i suck at this game..
