no debt challenge is awesome! Requires lots of intelligence. I recall using a mayor salary raise, way above my grade in the beginner missions, when the city was prosperous and difficulty lower, then using all that savings money to donate it to myself in the next mission, when it was much harder. It lost favor in Rome, but at least there was no falling into debt when building a new city. Never saved up more than few thousand dinari, then the richer city I built with it would allow a new pay raise to save up more money from the city profits.
I'm really excited about this new playthrough. Thanks for showing off so many many fun ways to play this game. The monuments would allow a special kind of challenge maybe... I'm not sure how exaclty, but maybe the community could vote on one or more monuments or grand temples you would have to build in a mission to complete it. Just like a goal in Pharaoh.
Ever since I watched your video about this mod, which got me back into playing the game, had hoped you would do a new play through, can't wait for the rest!
It didn't even cross my mind because I had access to polish dubbing from the beginning and let me tell you, it's a ridiculously good dub compared to eng

Yay another mission! Daily Caesar 3 content from my favorite, yes please! I followed your videos featuring Augustus before but didn't realize how great some of the new features were until they went in an actual playthrough. Keep em coming!
Zakh, loving this playthrough already. I haven't checked out the Caesar 3 forum in a while to see how forced walkers work in much larger cities so I'm looking forward to that. Also, don't forget you can click and drag reservoirs/aqueducts to connect them.
Hey GamerZakh! Glad to see you on a new C3 playthrough. Watching you play has already given me some new ideas for Julius/Augustus, like adding pending imperial requests to the sidebar. Just.. Don't forget to look at the sidebar! I cringed every time you said "So how much unemployment do I have?" and then went to the advisor menu instead of reading the number right in front of you. Guess old habits die hard ;) There's a new Augustus version coming up eventually (it's not yet feature complete) and it will have a whole lot of new mechanics and under-the-hood features, like limitless buildings/walkers, some pathfinding improvements and, appropriately, a separate import/export button (allowing importing and exporting a good at the same time). We're also planning on adding some entirely new strategic aspects to the game in the not-so-near future, so expect some fun when revisiting the game for the next time too.
The biggest limitation with forced walkers is no longer your 'walker distance' but rather how quickly services decay. A couple things: 1x1 buildings 'can' use forced walkers too. So can 3x3s. Typically (apart from prefectures/posts) the building with the quickest 'effective access decay' is the Market. Specifically the Oil resource. Market ladies will only sell 4 oil to each house, which decays fairly quickly to zero. (Even if Augustus raises it to 8, that'll still be your bottleneck) So ideally you want to make sure your market lady has the shortest walking distance, so you want to build your markets at the north end, not the south end, even though they need a bigger distance to stock up that way, the bottleneck is in how little they sell to each house, not how fast they can stock. Everything is topsy-turvy when playing forced walker you'll soon find out!
Thanks for this. Having issues in Londinium my small palaces keep devolving no matter how many markets and warehouses I put nearby trying to sell olive oil or wine alone they just wouldn’t stay stable. The market sellers really can’t hold enough

Hi Zak. Congratulations on your technique on Caesar you are strong. Bravo!! I have a question, I also started a career with the Augustus expansion .. My problem is that anyway if I create a loop with the roadblocks and there are no houses inside, no one goes to work in the buildings I build (unlike for example in this your map of the industrial area, where without houses and closed loop with roadblocks anyway the buildings work for you) .. Am I missing some game settings at the beginning to check? Thanks for your video and support. God bless you and Caesar gamers ;)
Here are some challenges that I can suggest (although they'd probably need custom edited maps to work) - 1) a city with only limited exports (like 1k or 2k per year max) where you have to make it become lucrative solely by the way of taxes; and 2) a city that requires villas and palaces, but with the entire city interconnected by roads (no isolated bits) so the food priority behavior would be very problematic.... would be interesting to see.

The market can restock while she is out. There are 2 market ladies.
With a long loop for the market does it not make the market lady give out less food etc to each home?
Only if the market runs out of food, so if the market is close enough to the granary it can keep stocked easier.
