Thanks very much for this video. Used it to make a room divider in a large lounge but built from the floor up but butting the frames together so they are not sliding. I then incorporated a sliding door to the side using the smaller width wardrobe door. It’s a brilliant solution! and i used an experienced carpenter to assist In door fixings and glass insert, he also built the timber frame for a labour cost of 195 pounds.

A bit late, but I built a similar room divider. The only difference I made is that I built a combined room divider and bedframe with bed boxes underneath adding a ton of additional storage space. Also, I inserted the mirror pannels into my pax sliding door as it makes the room a lot bigger.

With the bed being so close to the wall, changing the sheets will be a bear of a task. The only thing I hated when my bed had to be wedged in small areas. Still looks lovely.
Hey Liani, you’re right it can be a pain but it’s not as bad as you think because the door can slide to get to the side. But yep, just that top right corner, that’s the pain.
What a great idea!!! This might actually solve a room dividing problem my parents have in their appartment to seperare living and dining room! I‘ve seen similar room dividers that were not mobile and that cost 6-10times more! I really think this is a great hack! Thank you!!!!
This seller ships this item very carefully to ensure that your room divider ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxWv_wTHyTRVm0QkcOw1Rz2-5g_gDoRTkU is not damaged in transit. They even place stickers saying glass, handle with care. I originally bought a 4 panel room divider, but after receiving it I knew I needed larger for the area I was trying to hide. I wanted a 6 panel, but it was not offered in the Espresso color that I wanted, so I went with 5 panels. This is serving my purpose very well on hiding my dog's pee pads. I ended up using the 4 panel one in a corner behind my Christmas tree. The best thing is you do not have to put anything together, you just take it carefully out of the box and place it where you want it. It can be moved around very easily. Plus, these dividers start at the floor, so nothing is seen moving around on the other side like some other dividers I looked into. Now that I have a 4 and 5 panel one, I am sure that I can get them to overlap and work other ways should I need to in the future.
I really like this. I could see it for a teen's room as an example, or to make a closet under a loft frame, or all sorts of applications. I kind of like the idea of using it to seperate my bedroom into an office and sleep space.
Hey everyone, Mark here, thanks so much for all of your comments and feedback. After buying my studio I created this channel to create videos of my project and hopefully inspire and collaborate with other people. The update videos haven’t been as consistent as I wished, but I promise they’re in development. This channel is run solo by me, along side my job and whenever I see your feedback, it is motivation for me to keep going, this video got way more attention than I thought it would. The updates are coming in January, thank you all. I hope you all have an amazing holidays!
Hi Mark, I love the video as it's very informative and I really appreciate you took your time to prepare it! I can't wait to see more videos soon. Thank you and all the best!
Hey there , I just found out about the wonderful of Skytta l... Glad I'm not the only one excited that ikea created a product that can be used as sliding doors in a studio
Hey Lizzie, thanks for the kind words I'm happy with how it turned out. Honestly if you have a passion / interest you can turn into a passion you can make it happen. Start with small things and then build up! My experience has all been trial and error till I get something that works.
The frame could be painted white to blend into the walls or stain it with a very light color to keep it light and airy. I used to have an "L" shaped studio in NY that I made into 3 separate living areas, I LOVED that apartment.
Hi! I love your video! I'm thinking about doing this in my apartment although I'm hoping to convert a living room space into a bedroom. Do you think I'll be able to use 2 sets of pax sliding doors to make a sort of wall? Also, I'd like to make sure that the doors I put up do not make a significant change in the apartment physically meaning no real damage has been done and they are easily taken off and put on. How do you think I should go about using the same principals you've used in your apartment but without screwing anything into the floor or onto the ceiling? Also How do you feel about using the PAX doors as barn doors?
Hi Mark, I really like this idea and I’m going to use it for my small place. I don’t want to do it myself as I’m not skilled in this type of work. Am I right in saying I would need a “carpenter” to complete work like this? Or just a regular handyman?

I do love ikea hacks - this one is cool for a small apt! I would love to do something like that but I have cement walls and ceiling. I have seen in another video from Japan a way to mount 2 x 4's which then become the 'studs' to nail/screw into but am having a difficult time finding them. If you have any idea where to find them, even if I have to order them from overseas, let me know! It is a simple furniture glide attachment on a U bracket at the upper end(ceiling)of the 2 x 4 and a U bracket and leveller on the floor end of the 2 x 4. Of course I'd have to replace the glass with paper for the weight but the look can be similar.
good idea. I have one bed room apartment. I am thinking use divider in my living room to create an extra guest bedroom. This divider will have floor to ceiling sliding. no frame at the opening side as I want to open up if no guest, plus a folding door to close the room if guest stay there. Is this possible? :)
Hey, that definitely sounds possible, as long as the fixing wall is strong enough, I'd try and keep your materials as light as possible, use poly carbonate instead of glass for example. If it's going to slide the running track being secured along floor and ceiling usually give it the needed support. Keep me updated on this!
The doors look outstanding and have always been a favorite. My sggestion for the window would be a white linen Roman shade. If you like tatami mats, they could be the thing that ties it together. They are 3x6 feet, look like sisal with black border. An inexpensive way to achieve them is indoor/outdoor carpet and have them bound in black canvass. Cant wait to see the finished apartment.

However, the majority of the support comes from its base. Apologies on reflection of the video I realized it wasn't very much of an instructional video. I am putting together a how it was made video.
Brilliant! Thanks for sharing the idea and video! I would say... You paint either matte white or matte black. Make it look seemless and flush it either with your the other window panel colour or flush it with the Auli frame colour. This way it will make your room look bigger feel bigger too.
That wide gap next to the sliding doors kinda defeats the purpose :) I assumed the sliding doors were needed to provide privacy for the sleeping area, while also having light pass through the matte glass. It's actually quite good for insulation for both sound and heat, obviously it would work much better in mine if there wasn't the open space to the right but that's how I laid it out. I'm sure if yours were to completely enclose a space it would work well
The air circulation is fine as the far right is still open and the doors have space at the top and bottom, but if the weather is ever really hot I slide them to the right and let the breeze come in from the window!
Great idea. Could you have made the frame without the upright in the room? So You could slide them towards the wall to open the room up without being left with a “pole”?
How would you do it to make the item portable? So it could go from apartment to apartment? Not every owner will allow this...and it will be a bear to break down and move.
Hello! Hoping you see this three years later :D I am interested in using a PAX Wardrobe similar to what I see in this video in the background (perpendicular to the wall, instead of anchored parallel to the wall). Did you reinforce or anchor the wardrobe to the wall on its side in anyway, to prevent it from tipping over?
Hey Britney, sorry for such a late response. I certainly did, along the floor at the bottom of the wall there is skirting board so when the wardrobe was put up there was a little cavity between the wall and wardrobe. I secured a filler piece of wood to the wall in this space then secured the wardrobe to that wood. It may have been overkill but was better to be safe than sorry.

The air circulation is fine as the far right is still open and the doors have space at the top and bottom, but if the weather is ever really hot I slide them to the right and let the breeze come in from the window!
Hi. How about air circulation in bedroom place? Good luck and Happy New year)
Hi Ruslan, great point. An air purifier is needed for sure, it's on the list of items to get. Good luck and happy new year to you also!
Great idea. Could you have made the frame without the upright in the room? So
You could slide them towards the wall to open the room up without being left with a “pole”?
Amazing
Thanks for inspiration 😊
How would you do it to make the item portable? So it could go from apartment to apartment? Not every owner will allow this...and it will be a bear to break down and move.
Very cool-inventive!
great Idea!
Like the idea but why so close to bed
Paint it glossy black it will make the divider look complete and whole
Very nice!
