bvbarmy and aafamily I guess after a few listens of this new Icon for Hire song, it's not so bad. Halestorm is still going strong, but Linkin Park has been releasing some really underproduced crap with their newest singles three years after releasing arguably their best album. And Paramore has gone off the deep end ever since their self-titled.

I just want to say; if people havent got the deeper meaning to their songs by now then wow. The whole reason I listen to icon for hire is because its helped me awaken a whole lot
At first, I was against the idea of them creating music with a pop feel to it. I needed their previous style. It was what I was used to for years, and so I thought that their newer releases were "bad". When in reality, Icon For Hire has simply taken their infinite talent and placed it somewhere that not everyone would approve of. They were extremely brave in doing so. Now, I feel like IFH is helping to bring about a new style of music. A new type of people.
Thank you, Icon For Hire, for responding to my (and other loyal fans') advice/comments by bringing the guitar back into your music. If this song is any indication, it seems the " guitar-based rock" version of Icon For Hire is back with a vengeance!

I hope you got that tattoo! I’m almost 2 years clean now (in the span of seven years my longest time clean was 4 months) since getting it, and I got many more tattoos after that. Stay clean pls. There may be slip ups, but talking about it, shows that you’re a true warrior.

vcarlton1000m yeah I think it's awesome… but… the song now you know is about how the band was pressured to use Areils sexuality for more attention and how frustrating that was. So It's kinda a weird flip…
That is true, but I sort of took Now You Know more as the fact that she only has two choices as a woman, either sexualize to sell records or never be taken seriously as a success. I think there was a lot of objectification vs subjectification as well, meaning that she wanted the option to own her sexuality if she wanted to, but that's not really possible because she's sexualized by other people regardless of what she does.
But you're totally right there is a lot of pressure to sexualize herself so I'm wondering if it was her own choice for this video (Although let's be real Ariel is so badass I highly doubt she'd do something she wasn't comfortable with.)

It's just a little weird cause she made a big deal about how revolver made her on of the hottest chicks in rock. Ariel wanted to prove that women didn't need to dress a certain way to be noticed. I'm fine with anyway she wants to dress. It's just not consistent. That's all I'm saying.
I mean honestly there's nothing inherently sexual about dancing provocatively in your underwear, either. The only thing that's sexual in and of itself is displaying your actual genitals and asking for/suggesting/displaying some sort of genital contact.
Which, like I said, is what I took the point of Now You Know to be. If a guy walked around in his underwear yeah it would be considered sexual but we wouldn't even be having this debate about it. It wouldn't dehumanize him, but it does for women.
Either way, whether she meant to sexualize herself or not, the point is that we are all guilty of trying to decide whether or not she is. Even as a society, we're all going to argue over whether a sheer tummy section is sexual or not.
Maybe I'm taking this too seriously haha but the argument still stands
