Lyrics:
Last day of the rest of my life
I wish I would've known
'Cause I didn't kiss my mama goodbye
I didn't tell her that I loved her and how much I cared
Or thank my pops for all the talks
And all the wisdom he shared
Unaware, I just did what I always do
Every day, the same routine
Before I skate off to school
But who knew that this day wasn't like the rest
Instead of taking a test
I took two to the chest
Call me blind, but I didn't see it coming
Everybody was running
But I couldn't hear nothing
Except gun blasts, it happened so fast
I don't really know this kid
Though I sit by him in class
Maybe this kid was reaching out for love
Or maybe for a moment
He forgot who he was
Or maybe this kid just wanted to be hugged
Whatever it was
I know it's because
We are, we are the youth of the nation
We are, we are youth of the nation
We are, we are the youth of the nation
We are, we are youth of the nation
Little Suzy, she was only twelve
She was given the world
With every chance to excel
Hang with the boys and hear the stories they tell
She might act kind of proud
But no respect for herself
She finds love in all the wrong places
The same situations
Just different faces
Changed up her pace since her daddy left her
Too bad he never told her
She deserved much better
Johnny boy always played the fool
He broke all the rules
So you would think he was cool
He was never really one of the guys
No matter how hard he tried
Often thought of suicide
It's kind of hard when you ain't got no friends
He put his life to an end
They might remember him then
You cross the line and there's no turning back
Told the world how he felt
With the sound of a gat
We are, we are the youth of the nation
We are, we are youth of the nation
We are, we are youth of the nation
We are, we are youth of the nation
Who's to blame for the lives that tragedies claim
No matter what you say
It don't take away the pain
That I feel inside, I'm tired of all the lies
Don't nobody know why
It's the blind leading the blind
I guess that's the way the story goes
Will it ever make sense
Somebody's got to know
There's got to be more to life than this
There's got to be more to everything
I thought exists
We are, we are the youth of the nation
We are, we are youth of the nation
We are, we are the youth of the nation
We are, we are youth of the nation
We are, we are the youth of the nation
We are, we are youth of the nation
We are, we are the youth of the nation
We are, we are youth of the nation
The youth of the nation
We are youth of the nation
We are youth of the nation
We are youth of the nation
We are

Been jamming to this since it came out. The message never gets old. Honestly it helped me overcome thinking of taking my own life.
hi friend
I am thankful
I can't believe "Satellite" will be 20 years old next year!!
Hello friend✌️
We were " Youth of the Nation " now I'm 35 , I miss you Late 90's early 00s .
FUck man, I remember listening to this in gym back in high school...now im not the youth anymore.
Damn, just turned 36. I feel you.

This song makes me feel 20 again. Im in my mid 40s now.
The same situation, bro

It's been so long that it's on us now, it's our duty to help those kids

I Introduced this song today to my 17 & 13 yr old sons. They love it just like they're momma.
The msg of this song is just as relevant today as it was then

Came on the radio the other day, so I'm back baby!!! This song rocks
Ещё бы!!!! 😊
The youth today needs songs like this more than we did back then
Let me tell you I’m 13 and I am so proud that my parents showed this type of music
What would we have become if we didn’t have this growing up. We’d just be switching roles.
Sound like those old heads preaching about how it wa better back in the days...I agree with you 😄.

Me
hello
61 years old now,It's January 2024...
Song seems more relevant than when it came out.
I look around and it just blows my mind where we are now..
😢 for the kids past, present and future.
Beautiful song...
ive been finding my self listening to this every day lately and it makes me feel some way because i was a kid when it came out and i always liked it.. but now i really get it. it hits so much harder in my 20"s givin the current climate. i miss them days of being young and free from the burden of the world.
Seems more like it but its always been there
Society it self is broken my man. I dropped out school and Ive worked several jobs would get bullshit pay im 30 now every day im starting to wonder who the real crazy people are.... But even the old classmates i knew who did take study loans arent better off sometimes there life is even worse of because they wanted to educate themselfs more for maybe better job oppertunitys but they get milked or dropped by companys once they figure out they getting paid less... then the education documents should give em so if they get lucky or not with a job is realy the issue.
Ive been personaly attacked sabotaged and more by employers denied serten acces to documentation for stuf i did while working. the last job i left they wanted me back in but i couldnt make the sallary work. I just told them its to little and before i could explain why i got insulted and personaly attacked +i got told i should get a wife and kids if i expected be paid more... Also i should have been gratefull i had that job at his company. *shakes head* its nice if i fix people there problems but i also expect something to live off.... Meantime anybody who did better then me the last 10 years is happy... but yeah im starting the wonder if im ever gone see anything i want to achieve. Even if i have experions in a job people want me to work for less... and thats the real issue i feel no motivation to do so if its not needed ive always kept my finances in check. if im better of being home and jobless i rather be jobless. In my personal situation i can litteraly spin the table against a employer i dont need to work for somebody i can make a choice if i want to.
But yeah if being home is better financialy... i realy wonder wtf is wrong with the system where i live... but yes young people cant seem to get anywhere unless they get something that works for them or a specialized in a serten job sadly once you get older it becomes harder to get the money to do so. + even if you work a job where i live it doesnt mean you can get a house. + low paying jobs become a trap for anything long term or personal goals.
Well your generation failed somehow, hence the song. (My parents are in their 60s).At the same time so is mine as we are the parents of most of the Youth today, and we still have the same issues. Raising a child in a world lacking morals, is nearly impossible it seems
I was 17 when this song released now i am 39, saw all happened everything that written in the lyrics
This song still goes hard AF. If this is the music you grew up with you had a great childhood.
To whoever is listening to this song now, wherever you are.... Sending you love, peace, healing and all good wishes. May your life be good
Thanks... right back at ya

Much appreciated 🙏.
To you too my friend 🙌

This song hits way harder as an adult.
This song hits hard as a kid. Hits harder as an adult.
Yes it definitely does.
I’m a kid, and it still hits really hard for me-
It hits hard as a parent who cried to this song as a teen
The Offspring - The Kids Aren't Alright does the same ;P. Yeah growing up is hard.
This song saved from suicide. 8 years ago something happened to me and i didn't lnow how to cope from it, how to handle it. For a few months all i thought was to end it. But for some reason when i listen to this song I get close but never do it. And for that P.O.D. saved me. I was 26 then, I'm 34 now. I've been listen to P.O.D. since I was 12/13.
And Jesus saved POD. Much love and so happy that you are still here ❤

This song hasn’t aged one bit, sadly for the wrong reasons. 21 years later and this song is more relevant than ever.
Yea it sucks..so werid how my fathers the one that introduced pod and alot alot of other music and the shit still applys on a whole nother level. Feels like shit just keeps marching on.
True, another mass shooting in a school 😐, there were so many after Columbine
bro when i clicked on it i thought the same thing, from dust to dust
Relatable as heck 🙏🏻🙈🫂
We all just wanna go to school in peace..and what we need the most rn is love and support. The kid who shot 19 people in Uvalde Texas yesterday was bullied a lot in his formative years...I ain't justifying what he did...but that kid needed serious medical attention and most importantly love and support of others.

My father introduced me to this song, he says it's what he used to listen to around my age. When I really paid attention to the lyrics, I got a little emotional, because it describes exactly how I've been feeling lately abt everything. Love this song ❤️

Late 90's, early 00's. Some of the best music to represent a childhood, everlasting memory and constant feeling of nostalgia.
Defo!!
Miss those days
I agree and somehow disagree. Since kinda every decades has the similar blatant music and genre since May 1968 to nowadays .
Only difference in todays music as whatsoever is the boring choice of words means to not hurt a certain ethnicity. The same rhythm etc...
This music style was so a common back in the 90's . I call it pre-puber generation music that are in their 16-25 years . The style is similar as to Eminem, The Prodigy, LaCuna Coil, The Chemical Brothers,...mix that with some electro music and a fake live like children are singing with it to make it more credible. Kinda another band from that era was similar "Alien At Farm" used a song from Michael Jackson their title and clip showed a monkey etc...
Best song ever
Absolutely. I don’t see a bunch of 30 some year olds coming back to listen to Lil Uzi saying “Oh yeah, those were the days.”
Also, look at the subject this touches on? It’s more relevant today than ever before.
Damn this song takes me back to the early 2000s, getting off the school bus going to my computer and playing Diablo 2- seems like it was no care in the world until you become an adult with adult responsibilities.

yup, coming back to this song being almost 30 its like listening to a deeper message
lol
Adulthood is a myth. Humans never really grow past beyond their teenage-selfs that much. Especially in the emotional spectrum. It just adepts here and their.
@Demon Slayer Well, share some of that reality you seem to live in. Yes true, like i said, on a evolutional level we cognitively adept, but most so called Adults behaving like idiotic self-centred Douchebags their whole lifes. My Neighbours (in their 30's) are a prime Example, this very nanosecond, as their shitty daily Routine. And don't start me on their psychotic Child they have raised and have to answer for.
You really don't want to experience these assholes, ON A DAILY Base, believe me. Having loud and vocal sex, making constant abusive noises, and don't care the slightest on what self-perception they spreading. There are pure Assholes, but yet the image of modern garbage society anyway.

No sense of hope or true vision of a future for themselves or their peers. If You're reading this, you found a path through the crap and I congratulate you. sometimes songs are beyond their years. i remember when this song came out and felt that some songs just give you the impression that it would be something felt in 20 years time, and even though i was a teen then , i feel this song has more of an impact now after watching my teen daughter go through school and see how her peers family life and school experiences have gone for them. When this song came out, it wasnt known much about domestic violence, homeless teens that choose that life because home was too shit, drugs, violence, turbulent school life, psychology and medication, suicides. Like my teen years were very naive. my daughters and her friends were not so much.

This song hits harder now than ever. Older we get the more we all realize how much an anthem it was and is for the people who hear it.
As a 34 year old man, this song makes me tear 'till today!
I'm 40 and I'm pissed we still experience this damn near monthly.
Anyone still jamming to this in 2019?
Yes this song is amazing
TWISTED FX yeah I'm a 90's babe jamming to it while enjoying mAh lunch break XP
Hell yeah
Monday through Youth of the Nation
Hell yeah. Love the drums. I've changed the chorus to old farts of the nation. Great song and I've never taken 2 to the chest.
After reaching 30 "There's got to be more to everything I thought exists." has never resonated more.
we were the youth of the nation quarter of a century ago , here's to the new generations who find this absolute classic xx
tempus fugit , time flies... stay young at heart everyone, could save you one day
I’m 25. Turning 26 in September and for as long as I can remember, this has been one of the songs Ive remembered for as long as my minds been recording memories.
Truth: you're on a nostalgic binge just like me.
oh fuck yea.... mah childhood!
I guess I’m the out lier because I just recently found this when my college played this during a conference.
Yeah been rough lately. Needed this.
Now i am feeling old
YUP
I grew up listening to this song in a small city in Tunisia called sousse, today I'm 32 years old dad and I'm still listening to it.
Greetings to all of those who still listen to good music.
Same here (different location but grew up listening to this.) 33 now, and my 14 year old listens to the same music.
32, small community in Northern Canada, always got me through tough times. Still here listening to this.
Wow me too and I’m now 33
@@FaithNettles me too😍
Me too I'm 32 as well
this song will always be relevant
45 and still rockin this
I was the "youth of the nation" back in 2001, and I appreciated every minute of it. Same for this song. Dark, serious tones. At that time I didn't understand the hidden meaning in it. But now I'm 31, and I acknowledged that we were the generation that "just want to be hugged". Much love from Italy
Grande Leonardo! 👏🏼
♡
yeah man
This song is one of the closest things to time travel accessible. Dam, all the feelz, bruuuu
to true
toooo TRUEEEEEEEE
SERIOUSLY!!! I was 10 in 2001...Damn I had good taste in music at that young age =)
wow you are a young baby...
sometimes i have the feeling that if i lock myself in a dark room with memorabilia of the 2000's like songs magazines and a lot of that kinda thing i would definitely could go back in time... damn! widh it was possible...
my god the memories back in 2002
I was the youth of the nation back then.
Man I was 16 when this dropped. Peak high school. Goddamn man jamming to stuff like this while hanging out with my best friends smokin pot on the rooftops not knowing those were the times I'd actually miss.
maybe we didn't adequately listen, this song remains a cry for change
My story is different. For me, those days were rife with bullying, awkwardness, depression, anxiety, and insecurities.
Music like this kept me alive. I owe my life to it.
I feel you. Cutting class and drinking a 5th of vodka on the bleachers with my best friend during 3rd period
short up
When i listen this i feel young again
same bro
Ya same
❤this song
Oh My Gosh Yes!!!! I felt like a part of brain turned on when i heard this song!!!
The_Mad_ Knight_ Maybe it's the part of brain you dont use very often.
It won't get any better...the truth lies here, lyrics in the deepest meaning of the word combining a sound so strong...almost unreal...and the message is still burning...surely one of the very best songs ever written...
2024 more than ever we need to remember who we are
To every Johnny Boy, we all understand. We love you.
I had this song stuck in my head, so had to come listen to it.

April, 2024. This song still gives me the goosebumps 🔥🔥
THIS SONG WILL ALWAYS BE RELEVANT
I'm 53 years old and this song speaks volumes about our youth trying to find their way in this world.
You described this song perfectly, one of the Best comments on here.
Especially these days
Spread it far and wide!
in Paris or with Paris perhaps, what ever....🍏
It’s only gonna get harder folks. 56 and it’s changed a few times since my days of youth. We’ve grown to our limits.
That drum beat kicks this song into gear. That deep thump is what grabs your attention.
U bet!
Chris Lord Alge in this mixing !! He did an amazing job, what an atmosphere with those reverbs and spaces ! He is a genius !!
I'm 36, been listening to this song for 20 years... Unfortunately it's never getting old...
This came out when I was in middle school , still a banger all these years later . Wish we had more bands like this
Listening after the shooting in Uvalde. So sad, I remember listening to this song, when I was younger, and now I’m raising the “youth of nation”. I pray my Son grows up strong and not swayed by the world.
This is one of the main reasons I don’t have children. I can’t imagine what it’s like raising a child in these fucked up times. I wish you peace of mind and your kid/kids safe, long lives. Respect
@@chief_queef1990 And thats why the world is turning into a shitbox...because the people that actually THINK about these things and would make the best parents aren't having kids.
You basically just waved the "not my problem flag".
@@Cryogenius333 yeah you’re right. I’m gonna go make 3 right now. You know nothing about my situation yet here you are running your mouth. You’re the reason this world is a “shitbox”. People that don’t mind their business are the scum of the earth. How would me having kids make this situation better? Go out and vote and stfu
You follow a moral compass of love and respect and your kids will turn out just fine.
@@matthewknotts7003 even so, my man. It’s not the way I raise my hypothetical children. It’s the way that other people raise their kids that instills us with fear and skepticism.
Edit: well, instills ME with fear and skepticism
PS2 was at its peak, Nu Metal was big, undertaker was making his entrances on a bike, this time period was awesome. My early high school days were made so much better because of music like this.
I miss American Bad Ass Taker lol
bruh!! Great times
Now I'm gonna go listen to Rollin'
why?
Ben Myers alll hail the deadman of wwe the undertaker was always my favorite wrestler
2024, and this song still hits so hard with everything happening in the US
It's crazy to think how crazy fragile life can be. We really underestimate it and have done so and look at us now. What a great song!
