What they teach in the Greek military is a combative method called pammachon. A combination of modern wrestling, boxing and kickboxing techniques developed in the late 19th to early 20th century. The name sounds similar but the art takes little from either modern pankration, or ancient pankraton.
Pankration spreaded around Mediterranean area and maybe even further. We need strong evidences and historical documents to reconstruct this ancient art, based on later combat styles still existing. Thank you for your comment 🙏
@@pankrationchannel2838 I mean Pankration basically is Boxing plus Freestyle Wrestling. Then you add basic Kicks, basic Submissions, Elbow hook, Knee Strike and Shoulder Throw and you get pretty much the whole Arsenal. Its MMA in its rawest and most simplified form. Today many techniques were added and some Combat Gears allow additional moves or strategies. Because we shouldnt forget Pankration was performed Bareknuckle and naked

The Greek fighting technique Pankration, we Chinese give him a transliteration name and a free translation name respectively, the transliteration is:潘克拉辛。 free translation is: ancient Greek fighting technique.

I hope that Pankration can spread to China, because China is also a big country of martial arts, and we welcome the exchange and integration of martial arts from different ethnic groups in China.
There's a lot of people currently working towards that. In France you have Brice Lopez from ACTA a HEMA group. In Italy there's Dario Battaglia from ArsDimicandi another HEMA group focusing also in gladiatorial combat. In Germany there's Gladiatorenschule Berlin and Gladiatorenschule Amor Mortis. They have pretty much reconstructed what ancient pankraton and pygmachia might have look like. What's missing so far is another less method which I choose to call pyx-lax a type of combat that was only done with the feet. Literally translated as a type of kickboxing.

Does stances aren't good for takedown defense, so how come? Pankration put heavy emphasis on wrestling! I don't understand why they stand that way leaving themselves open for takedowns!
In Greece, they still have schools for Pankration. I believe that they have been teaching Pankration in the Greek armed forces for about 100 years.
Pankration revived. There was no gym teaching Pankration before 2000

If you combine Boxing, Wrestling, and Muay Thai, what you get is Pankration. According to the sources this is where Boxing and Wrestling came from.

I feel like Mallayuddha is a lot similar to Pankration.
Is that the Indian style of kickboxing? I been trying to remember the name, but I couldn't recall...
