"I'm so glad I got this motorcycle and I got divorced..." :D :D The way you said it just sounded hilarious, although I understand it's not so much fun. Been there, done that. Every bad thing brings also something good.
Man, what a life!! I'm in love by that bike, hopefully I can buy on in a couple of months.. The sound of it makes me goosebumps. Great video by the way! Enjoy your rides add some new videos please. Greetings from the South of Portugal🇵🇹
Hi, its the first time i watch your videos and i like it. I'm from Uruguay and bought the same bike but the 2020 version about a month ago and love it. Whish that winter is over for take a long ride. Greetings from this small country in the south. P/d: Sorry for my poor english.
I don't think this is the bike to do it, but I hope someday to ride through South America on a motorcycle. Planning a trip to Baja California in Mexico as soon as the border opens. I've been to Peru twice and love it there. A good friend was in the Peace Corps in Uruguay for two years, loved it, and continued to work for the education system afterwards. Hope you can get riding soon!
You had a opportunity to do a loop ride. Not far from where you dropped your bike there's a route that takes you out to Gorman and Hwy 5. There's also camping in that direction both paid and dispersed.
such a nice video and gorgeous scenery! i got the same bike a month ago (2020 version) and immediately did a 700km journey through my home country Austria. can you show how you mounted all your luggage to the bike? I was having issues there!
I plan to do a video on attaching my bags at some point. This particular set of saddlebags has a compression strap that I repurposed for attaching to the frame -- because they way I have it, it keeps the bags from falling into the tire. I got super lucky with the bags, and is why I recommend them: Waterproof VUZ saddlebags that will fit just about any bike: amzn.to/3ehTcbV
@Daniel Hahn -- Hi Daniel, I am planning to get one soon, but I am not sure if is very comfy for long trips (500/700 kms), how did you feel after your 700kms trip?
@@guille2074 I did that trip over 3 days (I took a lot of backroads and thus was pretty slow), about 200-250km per day. that, together with stretching my legs a few minutes at each fuel stop (approx every 1,5h), actually made it pretty alright. Although I still suggest looking for a more comfy seat. Sadly I just have a few pictures of my luggage setup, I'll try to link them somehow Also, I strongly recommend not staying in the saddle for more than 1,5-2h in one go, for me that would've been too much
@@danielhahn55 Thank you Daniel. Is an amazing designed bike. a more comfy seat is a good idea. I hope to get this bike soon. Good luck in your next trips. G
@@guille2074 you're welcome! I absolutely love my bike, and enjoy sharing that enthusiasm with others :) good luck to you too and have fun on the svartpilen!
I can't answer that. It's been 20 years since I rode a cruiser. I saw a Svartpilen 701 at a stoplight and it reignited my love for bikes, so I tracked down what it was, then fell in love with the 401. I still want a Harley someday, but this is so much fun. I'll save the Harley for old age.
Don't be afraid to stop and check out difficult terrain on foot. Take your time with it. You went in the centre where the gravel is thickest and slowed so much you had no momentum. Nothing is perfect first time around. You will get there with practice. Enjoy your freedom.
Thanks, Stephen. Yeah. I would have kept going had I not been out in the desert alone. Sort of glad it happened as soon as it did, before I was 4 miles or so down the trail. Kind of brought me to my senses... But it was just the first trip -- not the last!
How is the sit? I have a little tiny motorcycle which I travel with on freeways but my but gets demolished and I might weight half of yours but I am seriously thinking to get an svartpilen.
I wouldn't be concerned with the seat on the freeway. It's fine. The freeway at 75+ MPH is not its ideal place to ride, but it will do it. You definitely get blown around, both from the oncoming wind and because the bike only weighs about 335 lbs. I have to rid about 45 minutes on the LA freeways before I get to good, twisty mountain roads. Its fine, but not my favorite part of the trip.
Nice video !! She look very fun to drive 😉😁 what do you think about the driving position ? And where are you bought your lugguages ? Tanks you. See you from 🇨🇵 ✌👋
I like the riding position. The seat is a little hard after a few hours, but you can move around and stay comfy. I got the bags from Amazon. There should be a link in some of my video descriptions.
Are you on 10th street in Santa Monica? Looks familiar, I lived on California Ave and 10th street. Anyway, I currently own Vitpilen 401 and it's lots of fun. I used to do your exact trip with my truck and once with Porsche. I love Ojai and even down town Ventura is fun around Iron & Resin shop. Thanks for your Video!
My 6'3 buddy sat on the bike yesterday and it by no means looked way too small. I'm 5'8 and it's perfect. I've read plenty of reviews by people 6'+ that say the bike is plenty comfortable and powerful for their size. I'd say plan on loving it, but go check one out and give it a test ride to make sure.
Why is everyone saying the 401 is better than the 701? I want the 701, but all this talk about the 701 being great but the 401 being "godlike" has me wondering... what say you?
5'8" 160lbs. Fits great. Can't flat foot both feet, but can tippy toe both or easily flat foot one. Doesn't bother me at all and I used to ride low cruisers.

Really enjoy these videos, you capture something very authentic, hope you start doing it again soon!
I'm getting closer to hitting the road again to record more moto-camping videos for all to see. Thanks for the encouragement!
Great footage, thank you
This is the life!!! Can't wait to give moto camping a go, it would be good to take a break from city life
Just get out there -- on a bike, on foot, in a car, truck, jeep, or canoe. Don't let what you don't have limit you.
Perfect journey with a perfect bike 😍

Very doable but not the most comfortable. You need to take lots of breaks anyway -- just to add gas!

How's the reliability? Apparently it's based on the 390 Duke which is notorious for mechanical issues
