Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit was released for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2008. The game was developed by Dimps, the same creators of the popular Budokai games. Burst Limit, despite its name, is considered a part of the Budokai series due to its similar gameplay mechanics.

Ummmmmm.........actually the game released 2008 not 2009.
Ha I didn't even notice I mis-read it. It even says 2008 in the script lol
I just a bit retarded
🤓
@@HiddenChanneldw you're great lol keep doin' what ur doin, much love 💪❤️
Ain’t no way you just “um actually’d” somebody over a year 😭
Nice one Leon!
This game deserved so much better, it sucks this game was shoved out as an unfinished product, This game is genuinely one of the best looking Dragonball Games ever!
Fact
agreed the graphics still hold up to this day
@@itsnotjayboi so does the gameplay man it’s so good
@@jamaaldagreatest2748 ong
This game still looks amazing in 2023, crazy.
I loved this game it's sad that it's incomplete it has so much potential.
The Devs spread themselves too thin developing both this, Infinite World (Which is also unpolished/incomplete) and Street Fighter 4. They should’ve scrapped Infinite World and make Burst Limit more complete imo.
It's time they give part 2
In what way do you think it's incomplete?
@@drag0nchampi0n no Buu saga
Menu was dry and felt rushed
Transformations have all the same vibe/animation
The gameplay needed a bit more polishing and ended up being too much of a copy of the previous games, which is fine but still
This is a great game, just suffered a lot
I absolutely loved this game as whole but I think the development team was rushed to put the game out thus giving us less content compared to the previous Budokai titles (including Infinite World since it's Budokai 3 definitive/refined edition). But I feel that they can rerelease this onto new gen consoles (like PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One & Series X, PC, Switch, and Steam). Surprisingly the graphics still holds up pretty good to this day but there's hardly game modes like World Tournament & etc.
The hits and character movements in burst limit were amazing. attacks had weight to them I loved this game
11:24 didn’t expect that. It’s always good when a content creator is having fun when making videos.
It's honestly a incredible butt.
Wow time to beat off
Sure you simp

I was LITERALLY looking for your review of Burst limit this morning. No joke. There's no good reviews of it on UA-cam. THATS ACTUALLY SPOOKY WTH
This game and Kakorot’s art style are just what DBZ games should be all the time. Beautiful still even to this day
No. FighterZ looks better than DBZ Kakarot.
@@GeteMachine hell no quit smoking crack
@@Mrhandyhitmanhell yea watchu on bruh
No, Fighterz's models look lightweight and cardboard-ish, while BL's shading and lightning are all over the place.
I remember not liking this game when it first came out. It's because I was spoiled by Tenkaichi 3. But as the years went on I realize how good this game actually was and I'm upset that it never got a sequel.
The intro always gave me chills... underrated game tbh
I remember first getting a Xbox 360 and playing the demo of Burst Limit and being blown away by the demo. I thought the main release was going to be the greatest DBZ ever. I was ready to leave the Budokai series in the past.
Then when it officially released it was a fine game.
Like everyone else has said, I’ve been waiting for this one from you!
Your videos are seriously underrated, Hidden. Glad you’re getting closer to 10k!
20:08 is still Sean Schemmel's best performance of this scene imo.
better than kai???
@@ZenSymphonia I truly do think so, something about it makes me get goosebumps everytime.
Honestly if it had that earth shattering scream plus that whole Freeza bit I'd agree completely although some lines I prefer in Kai
@@wwalton yeah goku saying “now I’m truly angry” just doesn’t got him
I prefer Budokai 1. Him saying "NOW I'M MAD" hits harder for me. Him saying "NOW I'M TRULY ANGRY" reminds me of something an angry british bloke would say
This games artstyle is amazing. Goku’s transformation on Namek in Burst Limit will always be my favorite version of that scene in any dbz game
These are seriously the BEST DBZ game retrospectives on UA-cam! Absolutely can't go wrong with Hidden. Thank you for these!
Finally, a proper retrospective. I can’t wait to share this with my friends. Thanks for making this most informative video.
I been waiting for this! Love your videos Hidden
Love your DBZ videos! They're always fun to watch!

Lovely running gag you cheeky devil.
XD
This is one of your best reviews yet, lovely editing here.
I'm so glad UA-cam actually recommended your channel. Just subbed
There is a god and he DOES answer prayers 🙏😭
He always has.
I too thanked the lord at 11:24
Nope its just a Imaginary Friend for sick/crazy people.
And i'm the only God so worship me only
@@maanmahmoud4537 No im God what are you Talking 🤣
Every point you made is exactly how I’ve always felt but it’s never been enough of a topic to point out in my day to day life
The only bad thing about this game was that it was so incredibly short
I can't stress enough how unbelievable these graphics, lighting and art looked when this game came out.
When you really think about it this alongside the shin budokai games are one of the last Budokai games we ever got. But with the trailer of the new Budokai Tenkaichi game we might get another Budokai game in the future
Keep doing you these have been a binge godsend
Olá from Portugal, i discovered this channel today and you have gained another subscriber.
Been waiting on this one.💪🏿
Been waiting for this :)
Discovered your channel just the other day and couldn't find this video, now I know why, looking forward to it
Thanks for doing this video, quality!
Literally cannot wait for the day you inevitably get to dragon ball sagas, great video as always!
Might be soon....
@@HiddenChannel awesome can’t wait
Cool effect on the comparison shots
When Cell yelled die I was like "Plankton? What are you doing here 😂"
Dude the intro alone gave me chills of nostalgia!!!
Cannot say I expected to hear Big Lez at 2:26... great video!
Been waiting on this one
Yay your doing a review retrospective for burst limit you are like my most favorite youtuber ever
You got a pretty good comical timing and deliver 😂😂 my fav aspect of the channel beside the fact that DBZ is the main topic
thanks :D
20:43 I want this Sean Schemmel back! 😭😭His voice and screams have gotten softer. Especially in the games.
I found your channel. You are awesome! I enjoyed your review
I LOVES THIS GAME SO MUCH GROWING UP! Till this day it's my 2nd favorite dragon ball game, I will always wish it gets remastered!! That intro song is too damn gooddd
Great channel happy i found it. Keep doing ur work please
The colors and gameplay in this game was amazing
Found your channel today or yesterday
Realy enjoying the dbz content.
I came across this game accidentally and it was truly one of the best even tho it’s was incomplete the music is truly GOATED with everything else on top of that
Thanks for this video! Except for me playing Tenkaichi in my youth we have the same history in DB games. This was also my final game until Xenoverse 2 and I remember thinking that this is where the quality started to plummet, yet simultaneously found it to be the last of the “good” DB games until Fighterz came along. Definitely where the seams started to show. Great video!
FighterZ is not a good game. It may be a good competitive game, but not a good offline casual gaming experience. It's boring af.
@@adrenaliner91It’s definitely a good game. It’s success speaks for itself. One of my favourite games but I understand why some people wouldn’t like it.
Burst Limit released before Infinite World, not after it. So many assume Burst Limit was after Infinite World because it's on next-gen, but Burst Limit released in June 2008 and Infinite World in November/December 2008. So, they went back and made a real sequel to Budokai 3 xD
Your content is amazing ❤️💯
I've only played Burst Limit a few times but it's a pretty stellar game and gorgeous to look at. It had a solid basis with room for improvement... shame a sequel never happened.
0:52 - It's an understandable feeling with how frequently Dragon Ball games had been coming out at that point, particularly when so many of them are retelling the same story that fans know so well by this point.
1:43 - Gosh, I do love that opening. The opening kept the game in my mind to the point that, even thought it was years later, I eventually purchased the game when I saw it in-store.
8:01 - Rather in-depth explanation of the Teleports, Rush and Smash attacks here. The theoretical explanation to how the teleport feels and why it does was pretty neat to hear discussed.
10:25 - Talking about the fluffiness of Raditz' hair was definitely required. The comparison transition you do to show off the reused animation was wonderfully smooth.
13:20 - I had recalled this game effectively being a Budokai 1 remake in a sense, covering the same story beats but with the addition of Bardock and Broly, but now I realise they cover less of the game. Dodoria and Zarbon are hardly the most beloved characters but that jumps a fair bit of time to get to the Recoome fight.
14:52 - Ah yes, the Drama Pieces... I have mixed feelings. I like the team dynamic they bring to the fights and the various effects... but they can activate far too frequently, sometimes in a row, and really ruin the pace of the battle. Cool in concept but flawed in execution. They would work better if they had to be manually activated with an input or if there was at least a cool-down timer before the next one could come into effect.
19:28 - I do recall being visually disoriented but it having less impact of the gameplay experience than one would assume. I think you've done a pretty stellar job of explaining it. Comparing it to tank controls is certainly a unique way to phrase it.
22:45 - Glad to hear that. I don't play online much, so despite being a fighting game fan, I primarily play them as single player games. I've fond memories of playing through the arcade modes of many fighting games to see the endings of each fighters and anime fighters with their large retellings of the shows have always been a delight.
26:46 - It's a wonderful combination of character variety with simplicity of execution. Fighting game story modes have lately been having singular narrative with character changes like this, but that makes it very awkward unless they use that simpler design approach like this game and a lot of anime fighters tend too.
32:34 - I assume that the new-to-hd (and the sudden increase in time and development costs that came with it) development is why the game only goes up to the Cell saga, which I understand, but it's also a point to the story that had been so well covered by all their previous Dragon Ball games. I actually feel that scaling it back to end with the Frieza saga, an instead have the starting point be the rarely game covered 23rd Budokai Tenkaichi would have given it more fresh feeling to the story. You could focus on trying to include as much of these sagas as possible, with Bardocks inclusion fitting well with the Sayain narrative of the Frieza saga, and even include some more of the Dragon Ball movie content like the Dead Zone movie to bridge the 23rd tournament to the Sayain Saga.
I love this game so much. Still blown away by its visuals.
burst limit was a nice little side dish to both budokai and infinite world fans
Excellent video
You will hit 100k one day. Keep it up
the most memorable thing about this game is probably only the theme song
YOU DID BURST LIMIT! Thank you! =)
I'm honestly surprised they never made a sequel to this game. It's actually really underrated
i always enjoy the 3d models of burst limit no matter what. It's always my favourite
The part of the intro where the music swells and goku surges with power as a Super Saiyan will forever be etched in my memory.
I cant lie that burst limit theme stood with me when i think of this game too. Whenever i check out dbz games i eventually stumble back to burst limit and get reminded of the main theme.
I remember having conversations with a friend of mines about how i thought this game was pretty good vs how he thought it was underwhelming. Fun times
Finally someone talks about this game!
Remember playing it as a kid
love the artwork on the case is amazing nice cool and awesome too!
Starting the video with one of the HARDEST Dbz game intros. Instant like 👍
That fucking guitar 🎸 tho!! 🙏
THANK YOU thought you were never gonna do this one
Game still holds up 15 years later
great video! I felt the same way about this game at the time. I should give it another go
⭐️🔥DBZ BRUST LIMIT 15 YEARS OLD GOAT🔥⭐️
Just noticed that Vegeta crushed the scouter in one cutscene, and after that he has it back intact. That was a big "but" lol
ok actually big thanks for reminding me the burst limit opening is fire
Loved this game so much .
i always looked at this game as a remake of budokai 1 this game so underrated gameplay wise
Such a shame that this game wasn't finished. It still holds up today, super underrated.
I clicked on this video because I am formerly the best player in the world on this game when it was actually relevant. I'm not sure what people mean by "unfinished". If you're referring to the game only going to the Cell saga; that's because that saga is the original storylines conclusion. This game also serves as a reboot to Budokai as it is also made by Dimps. My favorite Dragon Ball game by far. Balanced unlike the other Budokai games. Great graphics. I'd also say this is the most competitively sound Budokai game too. I miss it.
just like she said in the video, some of the cutscenes and story mode are missing. The game had a lot of potential, but missed a few things.
the opening song is a masterpiece and love the graphics of this game
the character select theme is one of my favorite game OST's of all time
Hey,...hi,,,here's where the amazing DBZ videogame retropective is being uploaded?
was watching this while tryna go to sleep and hearing big lez woke me up like a sleeper agent
Too bad we never got a sequel to this game
I never played this one, but I think the fighting animation looks better than any other db game I've seen.
Loved the intro song from this game
Alright, after watching the budokai 3, budokai HD edition and now the burst limit Retrospektive i give up and sub your channel, the content is just too good :D
Thank you for subscribing!
Anyone remember the DBZ Burst Limit commercial where everyone shout Kamehameha in every situation and alot of Yotube video try their own Kamehameha commercial? I'm kinda miss that kind of commercial...
That intro just woke some stuff in my brain I don’t even remember
Underrated af
The game definitely takes me back to 2008! That year was awesome!
As a Budokai 2 and 3 mega fan the Tenkaichi series didnt hit the spot for the "gameplay" i wanted from the series and when this came out i got so fucking hype, imagine my disappointment when it was so undercooked 😭😭😭
Always loved the aura effects in this game
The fact you started with the opening. Is why i liked it. You just HAVE to start with the opening. Its my favorite and I loved this game when i got it but it was so short and needed just a bit more in terms of gameplay
I never played the game, but Burst Limit had some really good music. The Goku vs. Frieza theme was fire.
The game was an incomplete sequel to Budokai with DBZ Budokai 1 amount of content. The gameplay mechanics was epic asf but there weren't enough characters.
20:01 aaaaahahaahahaha omg, did you edit his scream? That caught me off guard and made me laugh like an idiot hahaha
Your edits are like godtier
one of my favorite things about this game is actually the voice acting, particularly sean schemmel’s goku. he just went so hard in this game for some reason
This game has my favorite version of the I am speech it feels like the best mix of the original lines and dub lines staying true to goku's original character
Damn right he's better in this game than everywhere else. Shame he never kept this up
@@devinsteele2424 Trueee. For me, hearing Goku say "You fool!" hits the hardest for me as well. Chills every time
Bro, this was the BEST new Dragonball Game after Bodukai and Tenkaichi ❤❤❤
Nice review of Burst Limit
I always just thought the game was unfinished because of the full cutscenes shown in the credits I assumed that they didn't have the time to get the voice lines and only had time to get to the cell saga
I love this game, it truly made me a fan of Dragon Ball Z
From my perspective which is the Pacific Northwest, I’ve been experiencing more extreme summers and winters
Yo Hidden you use Twitter I need some news when u upload been watching all ur retrospectives you're doing a damn good job
My first dbz game, it holds a special place in my heart
Ah yes, burst limit, one of the last times they cared about matching the lip flaps to the English dub. I really liked it when it came out and then grew bored of it when raging blast came out and then really liked it again. Another great video, wonderful comedy "My fucking knee" and timing and a great explanation of every mechanic some of which I forgot about. Also, I loved the "I would really prefer if you'd be quiet" reference. I remember seeing that phrase in so many tomba videos, and I was so confused about why everyone was being so mean. Then I saw that speed run, and it clicked, lol. Also, speaking of tombi/tomba, if you haven't already, there's a great remix of the first soundtrack called the pig nose project. It sounds awesome, and he has a few songs from the second game as well.
