I live in Ontario Canada and I grow tons in my basement. Keep the bedding quite wet. 👍 I use the lasagna method with wet cardboard, layered with shredded leaves and paper.
Do you buy your CNC‘s or do you go pick them? I currently have a fridge full of CMC$ that my son and I picked we’re looking to get the populations to increase so any tips are always appreciated 😅🪱🎣🪱🎣🪱 CNC is our native to Minnesota so that’s what we have locally that’s what I grew up fishing with
This is so cool!! I’ve noticed my wormies also tend to bunch up like that, but I assumed it was shock related. I’m very honored that you liked my input! As for speed, they tend to be very slow to do much. My cousin started up a worm bin when I went to visit and we had to untangle them manually. Even then they took a few days for all of them to go below ground. I also have sprouts in my bin, but it was intentional… sort of. I put some birdseed way at the bottom thinking they wouldn’t be able to find their way up and sprout, but they did, and now I’ve got a bunch of sunflowers very determined to grow, even though they’re not in season and get no sunlight whatsoever haha As for grandchildren, I do not have any, because at the moment I *am* the grandchild, but yes, small kids can definitely be a handful. Best of luck with your continued endeavors!
I checked briefly on mine today and they are doing fine. funny you should bring up sunflowers, I had a tray that I put some ground sunflowers that I grew and they too sprouted everywhere. most seeds don't need light to germinate, but they have about all been eaten up

thank you, and if we continue to share info like this we as humans become more knowledgeable. No sense in paying crazy prices to go fishing
