Being a GM Guy, this Mopar is one of my favorite cars. You do a great job of showcasing the machine and have a great approach to dialing this thing in!
I did the 2 step deal before going to a trans brake, consider this. I welded up a little platform with side arms that slid tightly on the brake pedal arm directly above the pad. Then I installed a surface mount push button (horn button, etc.) and used it's mounting holes to go to a back strap that secured the assembly on the pedal arm. Everything works like normal when you drive, but when you want the 2 step just slide your foot up a bit higher allowing the toe of your shoe to depress the button as you apply the brakes. This makes making a pass a zero thought process rather than trying to co-ordinate a finger button release along with the brake release. I ran for years that way, never an issue. (and no annoying cord wrap when you're steering sharply) Cheers!
Yea that’s a good idea. I also just talked with a buddy how wired it into the brake pedal switch itself and installed a switch at the back of the sifter. So it would only in gage with brake on in first gear. I will be going to trans brake soon tho so might as well get used to a button. Thanks for watching.
3:51 Love the sound of your cam and exhaust! It sounds a lot like the exhaust on my '72 Road Runner with a 440 that has been "poked and stroked" to a 528 and has a Lunati "Voodoo" cam. I hand made and welded the exhaust out of tubing that a buddy gave me for free, it is a little heavy but eventually I will get lighter exhaust tubing and use mine as a template. It has Flowmaster mufflers on it but also has cutouts exiting in front of the rear wheels/tires. I have driven past many policemen that never even looked twice unless they were usually giving me a thumbs up, so since I am building this car to be a street/strip (actually more of a dedicated drag racer that is just barely street legal) and deleting the mufflers and cutouts would probably save me a good 100lbs! That translates to almost 0.10sec quicker times in the 1320'! I definitely need a two step, I just installed a line lock and the next project is going to be getting the two step installed when I get a line lock. 3:57 looks like one of your neighbors was checking out what you are doing from the second story window directly above the rear window of your Dart!😇😁😂😂

A cop told me one time, if I wanted to do burnouts, do it in front of my house, so I've been somewhat following his advice ever since then. I still do them elsewhere, just know how to look around & make sure they're not watching.😁

Good to see that you got it sorted Joe(?) There is definitely voltage drop across the ignition switches in the older models that we run, and I run very few systems that way, and I use relays. I'm about to install a push-button starter to bypass the key start. I wired my MSD 'power-on' (the small red wire) via a floor mounted kill switch wired directly to my battery kill switch which is in the driver's area - unlike your set-up although my battery IS in the boot. Very useful for getting oil pressure before starting up if you haven't run the motor for a while. I actually have a battery kill switch on the earth as well, and I don't consider that overkill! Unfortunately my unit is the standard 6AL so I can't run the MSD 2-step unless I upgrade to the digital version. I was wondering what your converter stall speed is?
Right on! Sounds like you know your wiring. I’m still a novice in the wiring department but getting better. Converter stall is 4500. Thanks for watching
Thanks man! Dude honestly Im just stoked that people are interested in what I’m doing. Glad people are enjoying it and coming alone for the ride! Thanks for the support 👍🏻
Great to iron out the kinks before hitting the track. My two step tends to get hot, I need to figure out why. Its the one that uses the MSD pills instead of the dial.
im kind of perplexed at the Usage, is this to get a Better launch for quicker reaction time to the green light, or help car from breaking tires loose. i am wandering because i hear that these cars with smaller tires or street type are using this type of system
Very nice good luck this year what trans are you running non trans brake? What trottle cable and bracket setup are you running and your mopar banner can you send me the link thank you again.. Ps maybe a bit more rear gear may get you into the 9 witch would be nice????
727 trans no brake in it yet. Throttle cable is locar but kick down/pressure reg is BPE. Mopar banner from Amazon. No part number. Pretty sure China. More gear and trans brake coming soon! Thanks for watching
How does this work on the track to help you race? I understand what it does but how does it work racing? Would it help if you sealed the carb to the scoop? If you do that does it lean out the mixture as your velocity increases?
By holding the button I don’t have to manually hold rpm at what I want to launch at. I can set the rpm I want (4500) and put my foot to the floor. Then when I want to leave the line release button and foot off brake.
If you have stock linkage I’m not to sure I use a BPE unit and I can adjust the shift points on the bracket right beside the carb. They are the best for 727. Check out my engine pull vid I show it there and talk about it.
You should be able to slide it forward and backwards where the cable gets clamped and adjust the tension then. Make a mark with a pen and adjust then test dive. Good luck!

Team brake some day. After axel upgrade.
*trans brake. Hahha
@@SimpsonsSpeedShop I knew what you meant.
So when the 2 step is set at 2500, when you’re cruising or launching, does it still rev limit at 2500?
It will rev to the limiter, the 2 step is a second limiter you can set to whatever want and is only activated by the button
sounds nice
👍🏻thanks for watching
How would a 2step at 3500 work in conjunction with a 3500 stall converter? Or even a stall converter at 4500?
So you could set the 2 step below the foot brake stall speed for accurate rpm launches. Works best with a trans brake.
