  • 275. Turning UREA Into EPIC Resin Art! THIS IS CRAZY!
In todays Resin Art video we try a technique I came across used mainly with spray paint art.
We are going to create resin art using Urea! The Urea solution grows crazy crystals on the surfaces it is applied on, can I get it to work on the surface of resin?!
Whilst I still have a way to go with this, what a great resin art experiment! Definitely more to come on this soon!!
The vids I saw are below:
This vid has a recipe but the comments suggested a 1:1 mix was best.

Forwarding or Rushing is NOT an OPTION for me. 😂😂😂. I really enjoy these videos & seeing the whole process (with or without panicking) is the best way to learn & get into the details of it all.
All the pieces look STUNNING & for bring your 1st try I think you did pretty great. Then there was the issue of getting the correct translations when you attempted this new technique, especially if it’s in a foreign language…I’ll probably have to watch a million times before I attempt it 😂😂😂

Personally I don’t care if you make videos repeating steps you’ve done before. The piece isn’t the same and they all look fantastic. But you’re also doing a fantastic job of finding new and interesting ways to change the resin-process.

Try crushing the urea pellets then sprinkle it to a dish of urea mixture then wait until the crystal forms or try spraying the urea to your ruber mold then wait until it dry and spray it again until crystal forms and put some glow in the dark pigment to the crystal then put uv resin to fill in the gaps to form a jewel like glass cyrstal inside it.

    Urea
Urea, also called carbamide, is an organic compound with chemical formula CO₂. This amide has two amino groups joined by a carbonyl functional group. It is thus the simplest amide of carbamic acid. Urea serves an important role in the cellular metabolism of nitrogen-containing compounds by animals and is the main nitrogen-containing substance in the urine of mammals. Wikipedia .😊

You could essentially make a paste then mix your epoxy so you don't risk taking too long. Have the amount of epoxy you will measured but leave it as part A and B. Put some of the Part A you measured into the pigment powder. Then mix the part a and b, then add the pigment paste you made. That way you could make up a few different pastes and resin ratios ready for mixing.

I have some jewelry that’s made of meteor slices. The texture looks just like it. Really cool effect. The details of your process are important to know.

Interesting use of urea. I use it at a ratio of 1 cup urea to 1 gallon water for tie dye. It helps the yellow dissolve and holds moisture in the fabric. I just mix it in a blender, though. I'd be curious to see how a weaker solution than what you used and/or not heating it to dissolve would affect the outcome, if you decide to revisit this technique. Maybe try just wet sanding instead of washing then sanding, too.

Hey Daniel, Julie @ PYHO actually did a lot of crystal growing experiments a few months back. She used different types of solutions and didn't try anything with resin but she also found opposite directions & tips and went through a lot of them to see what gave her the best results. Her videos would probably answer some of your questions about the differing tips!
